Lovely stay nice hotel only fault was room 307 was very dated and needs more pillows as very flat other than that nice place to stay very close to everything and car park next door easy to park for only £10 for 24hrs would stay again

Ideally situated for all amenities and although didn’t have its own car park there was a 24 hr one close by Hotel could do with a bit of tlc, carpets etc, but on the whole a nice stay breakfast was exceptional

Excellent spacious family room, lovely staff and bar area, and the breakfast was great. Will definitely stay here again.

Friendly staff, clean. Drinks menu is good. Nice outside area to sit. Breakfst was grear with full England. But no pastries. Will go back.

Welcoming arrival Clean & comfortable room. Excellent meal in beautiful dining area. All sraff are really lovely, friendly, and extremely helpful. Lovely seating area outside overlooking the beach and sea. Perfect location. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty, all what you required. Excellent, would i stay here again, YES definitely. Great staff, great location, building a little bit tired.

Comfortable and reasonably priced. Good quality food and drink, with pleasant and helpful staff. On the downside, the hotel was is in need of a bit of TLC as was looking a bit dated and careworn.

Special thanks goes to the manager who went above and beyond and let us park our classic scooters in a secure area at the back of the hotel we really appreciated it .

Upon arrival you have to follow a few corridors to small centrally locate reception room to get checked in. The lift functions has a few scary sounds to it. Could do with moderation, fresh carpet, maybe some modern lining and a mirror. Did save our legs though as there is a lot of stairs! The room was ok and had the basics, for example tea, coffee and a hair drier. However, the TV was smaller than my laptop screen and this was in a “family room”, with some basic channels unavailable. Windows were very dirty. The bathroom was big with a deep bath (which my partner loved) and shower overhead. However, there were random marks on the wall, decor felt unkempt and the shower pressure was awful. Sleep wise the hotel was quiet and despite its central location it was also quiet outside. Bed was comfy and sheets were clean. There was also a small fan in the wardrobe that helped to cool things a little. However, the carpet looked old and in need of replacement. Breakfast room is modern and clean, with great views of the pier and beach. A good selection of cereal and a hot buffet was accompanied by fresh juices and hot drinks. Staff were friendly and smiling as they helped to seat the guests. At the front of the hotel there is a large outside area for food and drinks, although we didn’t use this, it was very busy which suggest people do enjoy the meals and the drinks on offer. Overall good service and style downstairs is not reflected in the quality of the rooms upstairs.

We loved the convenience near pier, shops, bus stops. The restaurant provided a good menu with excellent portions and delicious food. The staff were very warm , friendly and helpful. We would definitely go there again. Downside - views at the side not very nice to look at and no facilities to park close to hotel other than the multi-storey car park 10.00 /24 hours. Otherwise highly recommended

Not worth a third of the money paid for the accommodation. Room with no curtains in the basement next to the kitchen with kitchen door open. Bedding not properly washed

We had damp wet walls. We didnt notice this till it was past 9pm and the reception was closed. When we told the man behind reception the next morning he said it wasnt damp and was from a previous leak. I stated that had picture to prove it was damp and it was wet still The room also smelt very damp. To only be told sorry. The room has put us off coming back. The staff, location and food was lovely though.

Overall it was an excellent stay and location was great. Brekky was nice too. My only gripe was there was no soap or hanwash of anykind in the toilet of our room and the half a roll of toilet paper was very poor quality. Glasses in the room would have been appreciated too.. it was spotless though and comfortable with a lovely view to the front.

This was an old property and very dated, no atmosphere ! But the property could not be faulted for its cleanliness. Breakfast was disappointing, as the food was pretty good but not very hot, And plates that were stacked in what looked like a plate warmer, was actually freezing cold, it looked like no one had turned it on. so of course the plates were freezing cold !!! Hence cold breakfast, other guests were complaining too. I booked what was supposedly to be a sea view room, What I had was a room facing a stone wall, it even blocked a lot of the light out. This could be a lovely place to stay if silly little things were looked after. I have been in the hospitality business for a long time and this beautiful place would not take a lot of thought to vastly improve it. Very young staff but very sweet and helpful, but lack training from senior management.

Granted it was relatively cheap in comparison to others locally and I suppose you get what you pay for BUT there is no excuse for not being clean. Also the bedding was terrible (fit wise) the TV remote didn’t work but there was no one available to help. I would not recommend.

The hotel is clean with friendly staff in a great location. Breakfast was good, we eat at the hotel in the evening which was great value and tasty. The building is dated and needs renovation

The only down fall was the bed it was very uncomfortable with spring’s sticking up from mattress

Right on the seafront. Had a sea view room which was a nice surprise as I’d only booked a twin room. Staff were lovely

Average room with a TV that didn’t work

Really enjoyed our stay, having a sea view room was an amazing bonus. The windows to our room need a bit of TLC though, the freak storm that took place at around 5am woke us up and was rattling the windows. Overall, really enjoyed our stay; room was lush, staff friendly and breakfast delicious!

The room was tidy but the toilet pipes stunk other people said there’s was the same but the worst was the double bed the mattress was so worn out it was flat and hurt our backs not good at all if they don’t have new mattresses il never stay again

Nice big bedroom, great stay. Only problem was the shower, it was either boiling hot or freezing cold.

The York is an older hotel and shows its age from the outside but the public rooms are clean and lovely. Our room was a small twin at the back of the hotel overlooking a yard with bins, etc. I would have been disappointed if our stay was longer than one night. The hotel is right on the 'sea' front and we enjoyed a walk in the evening. We had a snack in the bar and were very impressed at the quality of the food and service. Parking was convenient and we would go there again if we could have a room with a view.

Unfortunately room really hot as no air con and had to leave Window slightly open for air but right on main road so very very noisy

The staff we encountered were all friendly, however we were in a room directly in front of the lift, so the noise of this in the old building was very annoying. One of the blinds in the room didn’t work and clearly had been left in a half up half down position which was frustrating as for privacy we had to block the gap with a towel. The bathroom door when shut would bang in the wind, so had to be left open at all times so that we could sleep. The breakfast was okay, no fresh fruit / yogurt or pastries, but the standard bread / toast and a few full English items. The breakfast area got crowded very quickly and could be layed out in a way to avoid this possibly. The bed was adequate, but clearly an old mattress and the bedding had multiple pulls and could do with being replaced For the location and ease it is a good hotel, but I wouldn’t stay there again as the noise was frustrating and would mean time spent in the room would be marred.

Staff were very helpful, room was very clean and had everything we needed. Breakfast which was included in the price was enjoyable, definitely stay again .

Very good value for money. Very clean, easy check in. Very close to everything, car park only a 1 minute walk away. Staff very helpful and friendly The breakfast was absolutely perfect. Set us up perfectly for the day.

Another nice stay, most of the staff are very welcoming, comfortable bed and nice breakfast. Arrived @ 14:50 so ten mins before usual arrival time. Guy sitting at the reception desk wouldn’t make eye contact, smile, acknowledge in any way or simply say someone will be with you in a moment. However, as soon as the normal ladies came in, everything became smooth

Most of staff lovely and heloful . The lady with long hair behind the bar was there last year as well very rude not just me was rude to customers in the aftetnoon. When someone took the table i booked for 6 more or less said to bad not moving them very bad as had children with us

when we arrived we were very warmly greeted by a lovely lady who was very helpful and soon got us checked in. The rooms were very spacious all with sea view - we had rooms 103, 202 & 203 - they were very clean and looked newly painted with very comfy beds and all amenties required for our stay. Great location literally opposite the pier. We had breakfast which had plenty of choice and was hot - which makes a big difference with buffet breakfast - we didn't eat in the evening but we saw the food coming out and it looked delicious - we actually wish we had eaten there. the staff were all super friendly and we would definately return to this hotel would recommend to families :)

A trip with the family, the hotel was in a fab location and the staff were amazing, they were so accommodating. Would definitely recommend this hotel

The Hotel was just fine for the money, however it was the staff who made the stay excellent. Bea, the manager was terrific and all her staff happy, friendly, accommodating and willing to do anything for their guests. The inhouse restaurant was superb. We will return.

Close to the shops

From start to finish [3days] very dissapointing stay, the room which was a standard double was rather small and the bathroom was tiny. The shower was a small square which you had to wedge yourself into the corner off to try to shut the bi fold screen that opened inwards, the water was either freezing cold or scalding hot no matter what setting it was on. The very old hairdryer fixed to the wall would not stay on the wall unless the kettle was wedged under it and the kettle only worked if the hairdryer was holding it on the base otherwise it just turned itself off after a few seconds. We had a second floor room, the door rattled during the night as it wasnt a very secure fit, we could only open one blind as the other was broken and all the strings had been tucked behind. The windows were filthy and full off dirt and dust. The extractors from the kitchen below gave a loud humming noise from early in the morning until late evening so no chance off sleeping after 7am. The breakfast on all 3 days was cold, I dont think the sausages had any pork in them at all, the bacon had all the white scummy water all over it, not very appetising at all. There was no choice on eggs only fried eggs that were really overcooked. If you didnt want the cooked breakfast your only choice was cereal or toast, no fruit, yogurts or pastries that usually come as standard on most hotel breakfast menus. The location was good but the hotel certainly needs some sorting out.

Our two friends & ourselves stayed over the Elvis weekend in February The rooms were very warm & cosy with everything you could need for your stay Nothing was too much trouble for the lovely friendly staff ,10/10 Has for the food during the stay The buffet breakfast every morning was amazing ,even having fried bread & the evening menu choices were so good ,we dined in every night Always hot & fresh We even came back the evening after we had checked out On Valentines night ,we had the two steaks & a bottle of wine deal ,great value Plus sooo good In fact our stay was so good we have re booked for next year once again

The food is great. The staff are great. The hotel is showing it's age but the staff and the food make up for it.

The breakfast the first day was good because the man was there but the second day we where there the man I don’t remember his name wasn’t there and the breakfast was poor they need to train the girls that serve you to make sure everything is there. They advertise breakfast but there is nothing there we where waiting 30 minutes before anything came out of the kitchen

Clean, good location, comfortable, staff pleasant, multi storey car park behind Hotel at £10 for 24 hours ...Basic tea, coffee, sugar and milk, Basic toiletries, 2 shampoo's and bar soap, Would not have paid for breakfast if not included in our stay, tea and coffee out of a flask very weak unable to drink, breakfast a bit tired and luke warm, not much taste with the bacon, the eggs had been the warm plate for a while, We did have a meal in the evening which was superb and at a reasonably price, drinks pricey as everywhere else
