Oak Canopy Escape - St Augustine Heated Pool

The theme of the house is what first attracted me to this particular place. We noticed immediately that there was no bee theme outside of a yellow and black bedroom and a few small accessories. The layout is difficult. The middle bedroom is tiny, with no furniture other than the day bed and the bathroom is terribly inconvenient for the guests in the front bedroom. What could have been an attractive historic home felt more like botched DIY project—hastily completed repair or reno work that left the home lacking. The kitchen was not well stocked and what was there was scratched, unorganized. We had planned to enjoy meals at the house but the seating for dining was awkward, small and hard. Bedrooms are carpeted—something I’d prefer to know in advance because of cleanliness. Den sofas were lumpy and uncomfortable, looking and feeling like they belonged in a dorm room. The paint on the pool has worn away in several locations. There is no where to lounge and the back deck is tiny with too much furniture—so much so that the table blocks access to the bathroom. There are tears in the screen surrounding the pool and the screen doors do not close correctly. Entering the home from the driveway was a race between us and the mosquitos to see who enter quickest. Definitely a disappointment if you are looking for a space to relax and unwind

Check in was at 4pm, we arrived at 5pm and cleaners were still there. Apartment is very ruined, nothing compared to photos. There was dust everywhere.We booked this apartment mainly for the heated pool, but this has an extra cost that was not explained. We were charged extra 40 a day for the heated pool. The heating system did not work for two days during our stay, we were not even refunded a single dollar for this!!!I found a big dead rat in the back yard, maybe this is common in Florida but that didn’t thrill us.Not recommended!

Comfortable, clean, everything you need in a home. Communication was prompt. Pool could have been a bit warmer.

It is all about location with this property! Quiet neighborhood for walking the dogs but with a quick walk we were at Stop 1 of the hop on- hop off trolley. It was perfect for our needs. It is an older historic home so the rooms are naturally smallish but for just two couples it was perfect. The interior of the home was clean and tidy as was the pool area. The pool was cold on arrival but we quickly figured out how to start the heater and took advantage of not just the pool but the fire pit. Wifi was excellent but if you are traveling with children there is just one television in the main sitting area. Carefully look at the floor plan as the bedrooms are "train car" style and the middle bedroom is interior with no window. We were glad to not have to use it! We all said we would absolutely stay again.
