the resort was cute but there isn’t really much night life. pools close so early in the day, and there weren’t many activities for the younger crowd (age 20’s). there were many issues with my room but it was a cute room. i had a hot and cold experience here. i enjoyed it but wouldn’t book at this resort again.

This was my second time going to Blue Bay in 3 years. Love the staff and love the peace. The food is great, but they definitely limited the quality of drinks. They now have a “premium bar”. Most likely due to the tourism changes in the past years. BUT other than that, clean beach, pool and the staff are all super respectful and hospitable.Will continue to return.

The entertainment staff had a lot of energy and made sure to involve the public in the activities they had to offer. Also, the spa staff was amazing; the massages, the attitention and the positive and calm attitude created the perfect atmosphere to relax. Definitely will come back.

BlueBay is an older property so you can expect it to be more authentic. The staff was very kind and energetic. The restrooms need complete remodeling as the jets were very dirty and the sink area had an ant issue. Food options were good and I loved how much effort the staff put into decor each night. However, it would be nice to have all restaurants open on the weekend and have a more efficient way to reserve spots before the morning of. The beach area was nice but it was also difficult to get towels each day due to there not being a system in place to keep up with them. The drinks were good, but not strong at all. You must be VIP for premium liquor and have a guaranteed spot at the beach. Also, during our stay they were doing a promotion for a vacation package and attempted to convince us to purchase the package by down talking their very own hotel, BlueBay. They presented it as if it wasn’t a “time share” but it was definitely the same concept, which totally blind sighted us and took up an hour of our time that we simply wanted to enjoy ourselves. Overall, we made the best of it and enjoyed ourselves, but there are improvements to be made.

The property is beautifully kept, the staff are all so friendly and welcoming. The entertainment staff go above and beyond, theyre truly amazing. Snack bar by the beach is a nice convinent touch. All the bartenders are exceptional at ensuring to serve you quickly. Very friendly atmosphere and i personally will return to bluebay villas. Do recommend bringing beach towels, only one supplied in room and no where to exchange it or get a second if there is more then one guest in the room.

NOT really All-Inclusive!!! Bad Enough that hotel charges $3.00/day for wifi. They don't tell you it is $3 per device! One laptop & 2 phones - $9/day. $3/day to use the safe!!! Who charges for a safe. BullS*** Only Dominican made liquors are included. Food is typical buffet mundane. You might pay more, but go to a REAL all-inclusive.

El hotel tiene un acceso a la playa privilegiado. Las cabañas ya necesitan ser actualizadas aunque están en buen estado. El baño esta impecable y las muchachas de la limpieza hacen tremendo trabajo. Algo llamativo es que el hotel no usan sorbetos y la piña colada no se puede beber a menos que esperes a que se derrita. Lo otro raro es que no tienen botellitas de agua fría para uno llevarse a la habitación (hay vasos de papel que se ponen monguitos al rato). En términos generales, por el precio vale la pena, no es lujoso, pero la vas a pasar bien.

La habitación estaba muy limpia y con un buen airea acondicionado. El personal del bar atento y con mucha experiencia. Los tragos estuvieron a la altura, muy buenos y la comida muy buena. Ya he ido dos veces y volveré el próximo año porque es mi lugar favorito para descansar y pasarla bien.

I went to this resort looking forward to have a good time and relax. Once I got to my room and started looking around I found how dirty the room was. There was hair all over the bathroom sink and the floor. I also found a cockroach inside the room. Overall the food in the hotel is trash and when you walk around you can see how dirty the whole resort looks. If you don’t want to be disappointed don’t book this resort.

after my mother-in-law passed away, we needed a getaway to help process grief bluebay resorts gave us just that at an inexpensive price. We met really cool people and were always able to relax and find a place and chair at the pool without a fight anytime of the day. We had a few issues our refrigerator wasn’t working but the staff got it right the second time. I wish it was more liquor options the tequila wasn’t good but overall it served it’s purpose and we got what we needed.

This was our third time staying at this resort and we appreciate that it has not changed too much. We had a standard room and the only complaints we had about it was the lack of a chair and an air conditioner that made the room too cold. We asked the front desk for a chair, since the only place to sit was on the bed and were told that standard rooms didn't have chairs. We found that we really didn't need the air conditioner at night. The staff at the hotel was wonderful. Everyone was friendly and they do a very good job communicating in multiple languages. We did not go to any of the specialty restaurants and found the main buffet adequate. Breakfasts were very extensive (no egg shortage in the DR). Every night the buffet had a theme (Mexican, Italian, Barbecue, Seafood) and we always found something to eat. With regards to the entertainment program, we did not find it too loud and participation was not forced. The overall vibe was very relaxed. The beach was never crowded and there were not a large number of vendors. We appreciate the resort's adults-only policy which is one of the things that makes us come back here. We also like that there is a mix of nationalities. Canadians seemed to outnumber the Americans and we met a good number of Europeans during our stay.

We had a great experience at the check in. However, the room was super small and old. The bartender by the pool seemed like he didn’t want to be there; looked very unhappy and the service was not the best. The food at the buffet was cold and the temperature in the room was outrageous. As much as I travel one thing I do not encounter usually is the lack of AC and hot water. I stayed here Sunday to Sunday and when I arrived and got to my room the hotel associate turned on the AC which struck me as odd that it was not on before my arrival. I did not think much of it until the next day I was still without AC. It took them until Wednesday to switch my room to a room that had AC. Also the hot water was not working, they did fix that by the following day though. Again in the new room on the day I was checking out I was without hot water. This to me should not happen at a vacation resort. It should not take that long to fix a problem with AC in 80 degree weather. And hot water??? in both rooms. Another issue I had with the resort was the buffet food at best was lukewarm. I could possibly understand if you get there at the end of the buffet. But at least one of the buffets I arrived as they opened it again to lukewarm food. I understand there occasionally could be a glitch but it should be attended to promptly. The first room issue with the hot water when I went to the front desk I was told the were replacing hot water heaters in a couple rooms? The next day when I went to guest services they attended to it immediately. All in all the resort was not bad but the inconveniences definitely would prevent me from recommending or staying at the resort again.

The pictures of the rooms are deceiving. The rooms are very outdated and they smell musty and damp. Bathrooms are extremely small. The rooms lacked sufficient towels for showering and the pool. The towel cabana did not open until 9am so you would have to wait until then for new towels if you wanted to go to the beach or pool early. There was no entertainment until the weekend when the locals show up and you have to pay for wifi service.

The all-inclusive meals were disappointing, with very limited options to choose from, and the snack bar was by far the worst compared to other hotels in the area. Breakfast was the weakest part of the stay, offering little variety and low quality. The pool was just okay, and the night entertainment was mediocre at best. I honestly don’t see the point of labeling this place as “adults only,” since there was nothing particularly special or enjoyable for adults to do. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

Hotel facilities in the exterior is very nice. However, the rooms are very old. Specially the bathroom. The bathtub was very old and there was no pressure to take a shower. Nonetheless, the two pools are very nice and the beach is absolutely beautiful.

My husband and I decided to book 3 days at the resort because of its pictures and it looked nice. The resort is indeed not bad, it is a little old but small so everything is walkable. It has limited food options even at night. The bar by the beach offers the same menu every night, no changes at all. The buffet is very repetitive so be aware of that. Some of their staff are extremely rude and sometimes they barely acknowledge you. Everyone keeps calling you "friend" or "family" of the resort but in reality they just keep pushing you to buy their BlueBay VIP membership. It kinds of disturb your vacation because you will have to sit for almost an hour so they can show you the benefits of becoming a VIP. The Chinese is the only good option for food and make sure to pick a different restaurant for each day in advanced since they are always all booked. All the morning Buffett staff were absolutely amazing every day. We had a good time at the pool drinking and talking to different people. If it wasn't for that our experience would be vastly different.

I had an amazing time at BlueBay Villas. It was quiet and relaxing. Food was great and had a lot of options. I especially enjoyed the entertainment. Shoutout to Lizbeth! They made me feel welcomed and I enjoyed their energy. The bartenders were amazing especially the older man at the beach bar! The chef at the beach bar was amazing as well and incredibly friendly. The staff really made the stay feel comfortable!

Cependant nous avons été HARCELÉ par des vendeurs sur la plage, pour des bijoux, des tresses, etc. Même chose pour essayer de nous faire joindre un abonnement circle one. El hotel ofrece una de las mejores experiencias que he tenido en relación calidad-precio. Las diversas actividades durante el día y la noche, especialmente los juegos en el área de la piscina y la playa, hacen la estadía mucho más amena. Las habitaciones son muy bonitas y limpias, y el personal es extremadamente amable. En especial, quiero destacar la atención del joven Jordy en recepción, así como la excelente animación de Alfredo y la joven Rossi. Definitivamente, volveremos.

This was my second time going to Blue Bay in 3 years. Love the staff and love the peace. The food is great, but they definitely limited the quality of drinks. They now have a “premium bar”. Most likely due to the tourism changes in the past years. BUT other than that, clean beach, pool and the staff are all super respectful and hospitable.Will continue to return.

This is my third trip to BlueBay in Puerto Plata. My partner and I returned after 12 years because we had such a great experience on our honeymoon. This time, the attentiveness of the housekeeping, front desk, food service, and bar service staff remained outstanding. We were disappointed in the activity options and the activity/entertainment team's ability to pivot during nighttime activities. They were unsuccessful getting couples to participate in a game one evening and just played music when no one volunteered. The second night they attempted a couples game, they did recover. I was accustomed to the staff really getting people involved, even if they came up to you and encouraged you to participate. The staff did not seem as equipped as previous teams to do that effectively. Otherwise, I had a relaxing vacation. I also appreciated that no one tried to sell us a timeshare like they did 12 years ago. The only people approaching us wanted to help and encouraged us to take advantage of the Spa, which we did and thoroughly enjoyed.

While our overall stay was nice and I would rate the accommodations as average, we had a HORRIBLE experience as we were leaving. After checking out, a staff member asked us when our transfer would be arriving to pick us up. I informed him that I had just ordered an Uber and it was on the way. He then told me that the hotel didnt allow Ubers to come pick up guests. They had taxis waiting for those that needed them outside. Well, these taxis charge $35 per ride to the airport while an Uber costs about $5. So we happily said that we would simply walk off the property to meet our Uber. This staff member said, well you can try. As soon as we walked across the street, two taxi drivers got out of their cars and began calling to us to come with them. We politely said no thank you. One man came over to us and asked if we had ordered an Uber. I said yes. He then stated that Ubers would not pick up there. It was taxi only. We stated that we were fine and that we would walk to meet our driver. At this point another driver came over and began trying to convince us that Ubers would not come to pick us up. At this point our driver arrived and this man literally got into his taxi and blocked our Uber while another taxi driver blocked the back of his car! He then came and began harassing our driver telling him that he wasn't allowed to take us to the airport. They refused to let us move until my husband said he was calling the police. The hotel should care more about the safety of guests. :(

I liked that this resort was small & had food and drinks 24 hours. The beach was very peaceful. For the most part the staff was very nice & approachable. Our first night out ac did not work. We spoke to someone the next day and it was fixed. The food selection was not the best. There wasn’t a lot to choose from & the food wasn’t too tasty.

The resort staff excellent, they try very hard to make your stay a happy and amazing one. I did not like there was not enough choices to dine. The few choices available were closed when the resort didn’t have enough clientele, the only option was the buffet.

Property was outdated but clean, pool area was nice, disappointed that in our 5 night stay only 2 nights an Al a carte restaurant was available. So it was buffet for all 3 meals. Room was nothing special, basic hotel room. Nothing to do when weather was bad. Drinks were weak. Bar staff were nice, but there were some pushy guys trying to sell some vacation club. Overall if you’re looking for a very quiet trip in October and aren’t picky about the food this may work for you. Price was good so can complain but I’ve been to much better resorts.

Pros: Gorgeous private beach, all inclusive, 20 minutes from the airport, ok drinks, they give you a little bottle of rum, which is a nice touch, the female bartender by the beach bar was so sweet, clean, fairly nice staff, has a spa, nice pools with pool bar. Close to a mall and mini golf course. Cons: The food is inedible. It was just awful. The staff was nice, but some of the male employees either hit on me directly or commented on my appearance, which made me uncomfortable. I was traveling alone, which made it even more inappropriate for them to constantly comment on my body or asking me if I’m single. The restaurants weren’t available for most of my stay. They just provided a buffet with a few options that, as I said, were absolutely inedible. I can eat almost anything but I had a to spit back out a lot of the stuff. I hate to speak negatively like this but I wasn’t even sure what I was eating was safe. Also, their check out is at noon, which is great, but the cleaning staff was incessantly banging on my door at 9:30am. It was also quite loud at night with construction and cleaning staff chattering super loudly outside of my room. Internet was very spotty, and the tv could barely be used. They also keep trying to sell you a time share, which was annoying.
Pros: Gorgeous private beach, all inclusive, 20 minutes from the airport, ok drinks, they give you a little bottle of rum, which is a nice touch, the female bartender by the beach bar was so sweet, clean, fairly nice staff, has a spa, nice pools with pool bar. Close to a mall and mini golf course. Cons: The food is inedible. It was just awful. The staff was nice, but some of the male employees either hit on me directly or commented on my appearance, which made me uncomfortable. I was traveling alone, which made it even more inappropriate for them to constantly comment on my body or asking me if I’m single. Had a great stay at BlueBay Villas Doradas. The staff was excellent. Food options were perfect for us. The a la carte dinner were great, except for the Italian dinner. That was a huge disappointment. Everything else was very nice. Our bed was comfortable, and we rested well. One other negative was the entertainment. It was boring. The staff should make an effort to engage with tge guests more. Have guests participate and get rid of Mexican night. This is the DR! There is plenty of great music and entertainment to energize an audience. Besides that, this is nice resort to spend a few nights.

Einfaches Hotel mit guten Essen. Zumindest im Buffetrestaurant waren die Speisen gut gewürzt und das Personal sehr freundlich. Al-a-carte Restaurant wurden nicht genutzt. Getränke auch eher einfach, aber trinkbar. 4* ist etwas hochgegriffen, aber für ein paar Nächte ok! Zu unserer Zeit war die Strömung Richtung dem Strand und dementsprechend leider nicht so sauber.

Bluebay Is our favorite Hotel in Puerto Plata. We been coming back many times. What makes this hotel enjoyable, are the people that make you feel at home. Everyone is ready to help, and gives their attention. Also the entertainment team is super nice, and fills the day with plenty of activities. And Jorge, makes every show a highlight of the night. The boys, at the reception desk, are always there to help with any kind of concern. Thanks to Junior, Jonathan, Manolo and Saul to always be there- the check in is always smooth and enjoyable and fun- they take good care of Us and our luggage. Liliana the reception manager, is super nice, and will always help you with any kind of concerns. Last but not least- The food is enjoyable, you will always find something you like.. The kitchen personal are super attentive. Antonio remembers our drinks from one vacation to the other. And our drinks are on the table before we arrive with our Food. Big Thank You to him.!! Also Alvin, is always welcoming Us with a big smile and open arms. Always on top of his game to do the best service im the kitchen. Thank You so much! One thing also to mention is the beautiful Landscape and trees all around the paths. The guys taking care of the gardens and trees do an amazing job. Over all we just enjoy coming back every time, and cant wait to go again.
