Town Hall Hotel - Shoreditch

The pool was closed for maintenance and we had no prior warning. Front desk staff unbothered to the point of rude and a bit sarcastic. Letting down the impression to the other great staff in the bar/room service teams. I came with a baby on my own in the room for my birthday and other girl friends who’d booked their own rooms - my husband had sent flowers and champagne to my room so the staff knew this. No cot was ready. No one so much as held a door open and I was in a far flung wing of the building with 7 heavy fire doors to navigate. It was also the worst possible room for being with a baby - loud both from the street and foyer, bed on an odd glass mezzanine with a sunken bath that didn’t drain properly. Huge room but the shower was an over the bath one in the middle of the bedroom next to the bed and zero lamps or soft lighting, just clinical white overhead lights throughout. A crime against interior design and good taste but also so impractical in every way. Dressing gowns in the room but mine had a huge stain on it. It was just one night and my friends rooms were better/more normal but in general it was quite shocking. I planned to tell staff on my way out but actually they couldn’t have cared any less whether we had a good stay or not so I left it. I’ve stayed before and had a great time so I’m not sure why or how it’s gone so downhill. Maybe best to go for a cheaper room - this was a jr suite and I’ve honestly had better service at a premier inn

Unfortunately myself and my wife were disappointed with our stay. We are still waiting back for an e mail from the manager as we wrote a long list of issues we encountered during our stay. We never like writing bad reviews but after not having a reply for 2 months after our stay we are forced too. - Bed was uncomfortable (had to move) - Nearly all the wardrobe doors were falling off - Metal angles on the corners were coming off ( this got duct taped back!- not exactly 4 star standard) - The Pool was cold and pump didn’t seem to be working or on as hair was floating on the surface (nobody else in there ) - No handle in the male changing room for the swimming pool. All in all it was a shame we had this experience as the hotel is nice but just needs a lot of TLC and better customer service it seems. Once again upset we had to write a bad review

The room was very large. I also loved the gym and pool. Only a few blocks to Underground and our room was very quiet. Breakfast and dining room was very cute.

Renovated town hall offers good sized rooms, with kitchen and ample sitting area. Great for longer stays. Handy to underground and busses. Unfortunate that one of the two elevators was out of service for our 8 day stay.

The hotel is very nice, and clean and the room was especially quiet (no A/C noise) and very large. A separate living room/kitchen area and then the bedroom. Very high ceiling and cozy furniture made it very relaxing. There was a slight issue with the sink draining, but they fixed it quickly. The gym, like most in the UK, was small, but it was clean and had modern equipment. I would definitely stay here again if I could.

Lovely boutique hotel and my second time staying here. Rooms are very spacious with a kitchen and washing machine. Pool and gym are lovely (pool is heated to a comfortable temp!). Staff were very helpful and friendly (I had an issue with the dryer which they went out of their way to resolve). Overall would recommend. Also very conveniently located and safe to walk around.

We stayed at the Town Hall while attending SXSW London in June ‘25. The event was based about a mile away between Shoreditch and Hoxton and we could hop on a bus to it and arrive in 10 minutes. Nearby is the sensational Victoria Park and the Sunday Flower Market. Breakfast at the hotel was heaven. Our suite had a full kitchen and the pool and gym are fantastic.

The hotel is beautiful and I like that it has original details and furnishings, not cookie cutter modern furniture. I would defiintely stay again and recommend it, but at first glance in the rain, the view across the street leaves a bit to be desired. I didn't eat in the hotel, but since I had a suite that was extremely well equipped it mitigated the need for it. The fitness centre and swimming pool were great but it would be nice if there were an outdoor space. It was convenient for many great restaurants and shops by walking, bus or underground even though the immediate area is short on those..Brick Lane, Columbia Road and Roman Road were walkable if you like to explore the area, and short bus rides if that is too much.

Beautiful hotel, rooms are fabulous, I had a suite which was spacious with everything I needed. Pool and gym were great and easy walking distance to Bethnal green station. Only thing that could be improved was breakfast; choice was limited and not the best produce.

I love the design and decor of this hotel, as well as the roomy suites with kitchen facilities and spacious, luxurious bathrooms. The basement rooms feel a little gloomy and not as airy and cosy feeling as other rooms. The food is fabulous, if a little expensive. £40 spent on a light breakfast for 1 adult and a toddler was a bit steep. There were some broken lights in our room, knocking pipe noises from the shower and quite a bit of hair in the swimming pool. A little more attention to maintenance and more value for money dining options would make it a 5 star stay.

This was our forth visit to this hotel. We always enjoy the extra space the apartments have to offer and they are always comfortable, clean and tidy. The service in the hotel is generally good. Breakfast is good quality, with good service, there just could be a bit more to choose from on the menu. We love the area the hotel is in. Bethnal Green has some great pubs and a lovely park behind the hotel. It is very handy for the tube but it is also really lovely walking from here, with some of our favourite markets being only half an hours walk away. We would definitely recommend this hotel and will be booking to stay again.

The service was okay, because they were compensating for the mice. It’s a very dated hotel. The decor, just overall. The lunch/dinner is disgusting. The breakfast is okay. We had to eat out everyday.

The property looks great but rooms are in need of serious attention; we had to move room twice - the first because window curtain didn’t fully close allowing in light; second room change due to broken A/C. The third room also had an A/C issue but at that point not worth moving again. The hotel clearly needs to audit the condition/functionality of its rooms - the staff try manage the issues as they arise but this is a matter of property condition and ownership. Running down such a great asset makes little sense.

We arrived at the hotel approx 3:30pm, we were advised by our booking confirmation we could check in from 3pm. In arrival we stood in the lobby for around 20 minutes waiting for a somebody on reception to b come available. There were at least 3 other groups of guest waiting, and only limited seating, so we were just stood until a receptionist became free. While waiting we heard a number of guests being told their room was not yet ready and they would have to wait. When we were checked in the member of staff was very friendly, polite and did apologise for the wait, and we were fortunate enough to have a room ready for us straight away. On entering the room, it was attractively laid out, bathroom was clean and modern and a kitchenette was available for our use (however we did not use during our stay). The bed was in the middle of the room with no bedside tables and therefore no where to charge a phone within reach of the bed or anywhere to put a book/glass of water etc. The bed was lovely and comfy, however our ‘Junior Suite’ was advertised as having a King Size bed, and in fact was only a standard double. The suite also boasted a Smart TV, but only YouTube worked, no alternative apps and when trying to watch a channel we just got ‘No Signal’. There were two lovely big floor to ceiling windows in our room, unfortunately we only looked out onto the hotel bins store, and one of the window’s curtains only covered half the window, so we were woken first thing by the sun.

We enjoyed our stay at the Town Hall Hotel. Our room was G4: 2 bedroom, 2 bath, A living room, a kitchen, washing-drier combo. Fast internet. Our room was clean. Check in and out very easy. All the staff was very friendly. Metro station: Bethnal Green about 2 minute walk from the hotel. Easy access to all the attractions from this station.0 I did not get to use the pool, but I am sure it was nice. Supermarket: COOP

Near the Bethnal Green tube stop easy access into London’s main attraction on the central Line. 50m from the V&A kids museum and lots of good restaurants across the road. The pool and gym are great and the rooms (suite with kitchen) was excellent value

Good access to bethnal green station. The hotel itself if just fine, not worth the 500 CAD per night I paid. Was also put into a basement room. The room was spacious for London but not 5 stars, this is more 3.5-4 star hotel

Return stay to the Town Hall Hotel and the service and quality has been consistent. Highly recommend.

We had a trip to London from US booked for my mom’s birthday. We had 2 hotels booked. The evening of our flight there was a fire at a power station in London and Heathrow airport was closed and our flights cancelled. The manager at our other hotel worked with us to refund us since we were not able to use the reservation. Unfortunately the management at Town Hall was not willing to refund or give credit towards a different stay. We are out thousands of dollars.

Amazing service, saved us when we were without a hotel at short notice. Very friendly helpful staff. Clean spacious room. Great location 6 min Walk to tube. If i had to criticise, would be parking situation but apart from that, I can only recommend this hotel! 5*****

Unfortunately, our stay at the hotel left much to be desired for. Given the recent spate of warm weather, we had specifically opted for a suite that was advertised as having air conditioning. When we arrived, the control panel in the room was unresponsive, and we later learned that it had been deactivated. Instead of allowing guests to individually control the air conditioning, the hotel opted for a centralised control mechanism. Despite repeated calls to the front desk about the temperature in the room, as well as reassurances that the system was at the lowest setting, our room remained unbearably warm, resulting in two nights of broken/uncomfortable sleep. Alongside this, the fixtures and fittings in the room were not of a sufficient standard for the rating/price of the property. For example, whilst the televisions in the room were notionally advertised as "Smart", there was no access to any online streaming sites/YouTube. Other issues included a sink that became blocked after almost every use, and a defective toilet flusher. Finally, the situation concerning check out at the hotel was nothing short of confusing. The night before our departure, I specifically checked the terms that had been emailed to me in advance. The terms stated that check out on weekends was at midday. Instead, we were woken at 9:30 am by a knock on the door by a staff member to let us know that it was 11. Despite drawing attention to the terms of the email, the hotel persisted that it was 11.

Booked double deluxe for 3 nights. Overall slightly disappointing. Not quite to the standard we expected of this grade of hotel and price. Moved out of first room: poor decor, kitchen cupboard broken. Manager very kindly upgraded us without quibble. Second room/apartment very spacious; comfortable beds. Quality and finish of some fittings was average. Gym ok with a few machines and some free weights. Presented with an unexpected invoice for accommodation service charge of £45; were told it was discretionary and for the staff. Paid it, and trust that it does go to staff. In summary, a little way below what we expected and what we have experienced at other hotels of similar standard.

Amazing building and decor, love that they have retained some of the features of the old town hall and that each room is individually designed. Right in the heart of the East End and vey close for walks in Victoria Park and along the canals.

Interesting hotel. Room was modern and spacious "loft" feel, and had an all-in-one laundry machine. Location was better than I expected... convenient to the overland train, and easy walking to and around Victoria Park and on the canal path. Never tried the bar or restaurant. Decent pubs and restaurants scattered around nearby. Pool was warm and comfortable, but pretty much always empty except for us. Had a small well-equipped workout room.

The area was so very scary from dusk on! I found out the area is called CRACK-NIE! There was a fight in the street, I just about fell over trying to walk IN front of the hotel, due to the terrible sidewalk. The cleanliness of the area was very lacking for the price they were charging. We called down to the front desk to ask for a bucket of Ice. I guess this was a request that was entirely too complicated for the hotel. We received 2 ice buckets but no Ice in them. One hour later they told us to go to the store and get some if we wanted some. We went down to have a breakfast...They served us some coffee and 35 minutes later I left 5pounds on the table and we left. No-one came to take our order or even refill our cups. When we were leaving the restaurant they were not even apologetic for their lack of service. The restaurant only sat 20 people at most! There were 4 servers there and a hostess. The room was unique and always clean. I give them that. The furniture was so very small I felt like I was sitting on a couch in a Childs room. I try to find the good in everything but this location was very lacking in the basics of hoteling.

Huge, spacious room like a studio flat. Really liked the modern feel. Nice toiletries and swimming pool looked tranquil but we didn’t have time to use it. The only disappointing part was breakfast as we were told it was a self service buffet but were presented with a huge bill at the end as extra items such as tea, coffee, orange juice and yogurt were all extras. There were only tiny cups for tea so when I got some extra hot water but used the same teabag I was charged for two drinks. Likewise a glass of water was extra! It is a shame because otherwise the hotel was exemplary. I think it should be made clear that every item is extra. Before the breakfast experience it was one of the best hotels I had stayed in.

After the first night, it was very nice. It is not a 5-star hotel, at least as rated in the US, but it's probably a 3-4 star, and more affordable as it's out a bit from the main part of the city. When we first arrived, we received an inferior room, nothing like what had been advertised. We were told the room would be cleaned and available soon - we waited. And waited. And were exhausted so stayed in the (quite) inferior room one night. And then had to move the next day. If you stay here, make sure you get the room you reserved. The restaurant is very very good.
