Banana Bungalow Hollywood Hotel & Hostel

Nice place not too fancy but clean. Small tv no a/c but fan was enough. No ice machine. Mo at front desk was helpful in meeting my request for downstairs room. And I was pleased with his efforts. Paid extra $4 for guaranteed parking which was needed for after concert at the Greek theater. $9 total for parking kinda pricey but worth every penny. Breakfast was not much to speak of but Coffee was hot. Overall good place to stay and right price.

This property was an excellent value. For an economical price tag, this place filled all the requirements. Great staff! Very helpful and accommodating. Downside is the neighborhood outside is not the greatest. However, there is a big metal entrance gate that makes you feel safe. Quirky and charming hotel.

super friendliness of the office staff, and really helpful. Good 50's Cuban vibes. Nice touch with a pool table and foosball table. Could improve their breakfast though (fruits,..) and recycling options was not existent....or well hidden :)

Was above and beyond what i could've expected. The facilties were well kept and maintenanced, staff kind and helpful, rooms and spaces clean, hospitality through the roof with special "BBQ" social parties in the evening. The location was super short, direct, and safe shot to all of Hollywood.

STAFF WAS AMAZING!!! UNEXPECTED FREE PIZZA AND COCKTAIL HOUR WAS COOL! FREINDLY GUESTS AND SUPER CLOSE TO ACADEMY LA

Good location, parking is around 7-12 USD. Keep in mind this is a Hostel, so be prepared for noise late at night, especially on weekends. The location is convenient for several destinations around Hollywoo

Great little gated hostel with an awesome atmosphere. The staff were welcoming and fun. We took advantage of both the free breakfast and the bbq party (with a full free bar?!) and had a great time. We had a private room which was spacious, clean and comfortable. The location is a little shady, lots of homeless and tents but they keep to themselves and we felt safe behind the locked doors/gates. Just steps from lots of awesome food and shopping, super close to the main part of Hollywood blvd.

Safety Issue: the outside entry buzzer keeps being changed without notifying the guests of the new number Staff Complaint: I was dismissed and humiliated by the staff on-sight when I voiced my concern. I felt unsafe being left outside the confines of the hotel without a buzz code at night. I voiced this to a staff member on duty. Instead of coming up with a viable solution, (like notifying the guests to check with the front desk in the morning or something to that effect) I was told this is a vibe hotel and I get what I pay for. And while there is room in the budget/ timetable for karaoke cookouts, there isn’t for safely measures. At this point I realized I was speaking to a new hire (when I was being signed in she mentioned being new) and she was taking my call to action as an attack so I asked to speak to the manager on duty. The manager was sitting at the desk and then reminded me that I was being given special treatment (having housekeeping replacement towels every other day) just before she suggested my purchasing pepper spray or a taser as a safety measure. It was an insult to say the least. I’ve never felt more humiliated addressing a safety concern. I understand it’s a budget hotel. I expected to need to bring my own blowdryer. I figured there would be roaches (which there were in the fridge everyday I might add). The TV not working right (no sound). And I even prepared myself to stop by target to buy bed bug spray on the chance there might be that issue (luckily

I was so dissatisfied and disappointed with my stay. First of all, I found 2 cockroaches in my bathroom, the towels and bed sheets looked dirty, the sheets had holes in it, the room was dirty and old and had a weird smell. It rained when I arrived in LA so the whole place was cold; I tried putting on the heater come to find out the heater was not working. I told a staff member about it but no one arrived. I had to sleep throughout the night without heat in a cold room which was horrible. The maintenance man eventually came the next day but the damage was already done. The TV volume would frequently go in and out, which disrupted my TV watching. I felt so uncomfortable showering in such a dirty bathroom and the homeless people camping near the hotel was unsettling. I heard people talking loudly during the night on a number of occasions, which disrupted my sleep. The only saving grace for this “hotel” (it’s more of a motel really) was the friendly staff, the selection of TV channels, and fast WiFi. Everything else is as horrible just horrible.

This was an old motel that they put paint on to look nice. wouldn't walk on floor with bare feet. Its across from a homeless shelter and a tent town within 100 ft. Pictures are deceiving, Hotel staff was very good and accommodating.

This was such a great place to stay! Very unique looking, super clean, awesome staff and the vibe was just so friendly! Love it!

Staff was nice, and the room was okay at first glance. However, we found a bed bug crawling on the bed pretty quickly into entering the room. Luckily we only spent about 15 minutes inside and hadn't really settled in at all. Needless to say we left immediately.

the service was amazing, the staff is very friendly and always helps you. its a central location, and there is a metro station very close. i would stay there again without a doubt. i fell in love with Devin, i hope he doesn't see this ✌

Super friendly, hard-working, helpful and professional staff. This place has character, I love it. It’s what you would expect from a hostel, nothing more nothing less. Hostels are places to meet other travellers, and we did here, with lots of communal space. The “tent city” others mentioned was merely 3 tents down the block; it’s not like we were fighting our way to the door through an army of homeless people. I do recommend this place.

We fell in love with this place!! Not only it’s downtown and close to tons of attractions, but the atmosphere and the staff’s easy going but attentive vibe make it an absolute gem! We will be back, and will tell everyone we know that this is THE place 😍
