The host called with volcano information which I appreciated greatly. The property was large and the bed was comfortable. There were plenty of extras and the hot tub was hot and ready.

Not the same historic feel perhaps as Kīlauea lodge or volcano house, but a great deal; quiet, private and informal. great little mini-kitchen area w/ coffee and tea etc. Fresh fruit!! owner worked extra to be sure ho tub was working which i SO appreciated!

The location was great and the room was great. The snacks were great. The checkin was unclear and the hot tub was hidden without a map so we didn’t find it til the second day and found someone to ask. The lava tube was closed. The volcano erupted while we were there which was amazing!! I was surprised they didn’t tell us to make sure we got to go see. Luckily we heard it on the news or would’ve missed it cause we had just finished being at the volcano earlier that day. The volcano is unbelievable! One of our best life experiences!! Go!!

Loved the way the owners provided fresh fruits every morning, particularly the perfect papaya! The beds and sheets were very comfortable. The hot tub was kept at a beautifully hot temperature, though wasn’t sure of the chemical balance on the last day.

What a delightful place! Nestled in the tropical rainforest (but just a short walk from the highway, and a close drive to the national park and the charming Volcano Village) Aloha Crater Lodge was by far our favorite of three places we stayed during our trip. Essentially a one-bedroom apartment (among four in the huge building, I believe), all the amenities you might need are included (no stove, but coffee and coffee maker were wonderful, and a wide array of snacks were included; fridge, microwave, etc., all new-looking). Quiet area, quiet neighbors, easy parking, solid internet and TV, and the hot tub (once you find it!) makes you feel like you have truly found (affordable!) paradise. Would absolutely book this place again. Mahalo!

Location was great. The property smelled very musty and everything felt damp. A dehumidifier would have helped in this climate. It was very pricey for this type accommodation. A lot of reviews I read before making my reservation talked about baskets of fruit in their room, this was not the case for our stay.

The folks are really nice there. The property is really beautiful. The hot tub on the property was really nice.It can get pretty cold there at night in volcano and there weren't enough blankets and no heater.. it's a nice touch that there's an in-room jacuzzi tub but it was not clean.

We booked a room at the last minute after our original booking canceled due to plumbing issues, and although the host at the Crater Lodge was pleasant, our room was surfaced cleaned only and the breakfast was light fruit, biscotti cookie and packaged outmeal. A coffee machine & coffee was supplied and there was Internet with a variety of TV channels. The property was very rustic & quiet, but it could use some upgrades & a deep clean.

I was a bit concerned about the cleanliness of the property. The bed sheets were rumpled upon "check in" as though they had been slept upon. I knew the property was eclectic so the exterior was as expected but i thought the interior could be updated more. IE the mottled colored rough concrete shower floor...the electrical plug above the tiny sink....just 2 of the items that could be improved upon. However, it is very close to Volcanoes national park and that's a plus. And it doesn't pretend to be the Four Seasons.

Really quiet and peaceful property! Staff were very nice and helpful and left us fun snacks and fresh fruits to try! Our room was very spacious and clean, only complaint is that it was rather humid and would probably benefit from a dehumidifier. We really enjoyed our stay and definitely recommend as a convenient stay while visiting Volcano National Park

This is a unique place to stay. We had the "Honeymoon Suite" complete with a large inroom "terrarium" that looks like it might be a concerted hottub. It's separated from thr living area with glass, and has fish swimming around. Kind of Hawaii cool. The bathroom has a double shower with beautiful inlaid art. The hosts left us fresh fruit and snacks every day, and there's a convenient mini frig and micrwave, as well as dishes and utensils. The rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. The only negative was the whirlpool tub, which didn't look clean and was located in a somewhat isolated spot. The location is excellent for exploring Volcano National Park, and it met our needs. It's also beautifully landscaped with orchids and tropical flowers. I'd recommend to others.

Our family of four had a great experience staying for one night in Room 5 of this two-story building. Room 5 looks like a furnished two-bedroom apartment. It has a kitchen, a washer/dryer combo, a small dining area, a small TV area, together with a queen bed in one bedroom, and two twin beds in the other bedroom. It's perfect for a small family. The building is also located in a quiet neighborhood.

Really liked the lodge. Very cute and tucked away in the lush forests surrounding the Volcano area. We chose it because it was super close to the National Park and yep, it was definitely a very convenient place to stay! The interior of our room was nice and cozy as well, felt like a lived-in home rather than a sterile rental place. The only complaint I had is that there isn’t much counter space at all in the bathroom as it is quite small and the sink is pretty tiny. But otherwise it had everything we needed—a nice, clean refuge after a day of exploring the national park.

Beautiful property that has a private, lush vibe. Our host, Shannon, was very helpful and friendly, without being intrusive. We stayed in the Honeymoon Suite (room #6). It was spacious and beautiful! The room has a comfortable, charming canopy bed. There is a large garden atrium in the room which contains a pond, fish, and lush tropical plants.Room has a small fridge. Great value for the price. We were given a welcome breakfast basket with fresh fruits and treats. My only complaint is that, while there was a coffee maker, there was only instant coffee (yuck!) offered.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying here! The instructions to find the remote location & access were clear & user-friendly. The room was spacious & included extras that made our stay comfortable! Extras included fresh fruit, breakfast bars, coffee, tea & hot chocolate! The jacuzzi tub takes awhile to fill, but included lovely bath products. We wish we had booked an extra night to enjoy the property, but we plan to book here again in the future! Mahalo!

Slow response, when we checked in there were food left in fridge.No towers. And second day, one light bulb keeps going on and off, messaged owner but reponsed very late. Breakfast were just some cereals and fruits. Not recommended.

The property was close to the park entrance, easy to come and go. Low maintenance no checkin and checkout. Key in the door when we arrived. Small heater for the room and it rained the two nights we were there. So we needed the heater. Basic fruit, granola bars and yogurt for breakfast. We didn’t spend much time in the room as we were out in the park. A little difficult to find but great little spot

I am super impressed with how easy check in was, received an email with specific details. The room was very nice, clean and comfortable. It was extra nice that our breakfast was in the room, especially because we wake up earlier than most guest. If we ever return to Volcano, we will absolutely be staying here again. Lots of restaurant options very close, the national park is extremely close too. Overall the perfect stay for my family.

Loved the secluded feel of the property, I felt like I was in my own little space. Definitely a one-of-a-kind place to stay! Shannon was a great host (and has the cutest little dog!) and long time resident of the area who shared a lot of knowledge about the volcano with me.

We got there and were told we didn't have a reservation. There was confusion. when we called the number on the reservation form they said we hadn't shown up and refused to refund our money. We had to find another hotel late at nite on our own. very disappointed and cheated out of our money. asked for a refund and that was refused.

There was no water pressure to take a shower or use sink for more than 1 minute. With 5 of us it was very difficult to even use toilet at times. In the morning we tried to return the key and close up. When we entered the door marked office my husband was yelled at by someone to get back. We understand if that is a private area but no instructions were left on where to put key and the large sign saying office made it seem like the place to go.

Property is more of an Airbnb. It was located in a lush tropical property and check in was a key left in the units door. Good location for visiting Volcanoes park. Good place if you’re mode of travel is simple with minimal amenities. Owners made the stay comfortable. Unfortunately not many restaurants were open on our Monday visit.

Location was great. The property smelled very musty and everything felt damp. A dehumidifier would have helped in this climate. It was very pricey for this type accommodation. A lot of reviews I read before making my reservation talked about baskets of fruit in their room, this was not the case for our stay.

Slow response, when we checked in there were food left in fridge.No towers. And second day, one light bulb keeps going on and off, messaged owner but reponsed very late. Breakfast were just some cereals and fruits. Not recommended.

The place is great, clean and comfortable!! Very close to the volcano national park! The breakfast is just fruit, yogurt and coffee you find at the room with some granola bars but it’s not a hot breakfast. Overall it was a great experience if you want to be away from everyone!!

It was unclear whether we were to have breakfast or not. We thought we were getting the continental breakfast but because we had a kitchen (which we didn’t use) we were not given breakfast. As far as the lava tube goes, we were told you had to have a guided tour. Communication in advertising not clear.

I am super impressed with how easy check in was, received an email with specific details. The room was very nice, clean and comfortable. It was extra nice that our breakfast was in the room, especially because we wake up earlier than most guest. If we ever return to Volcano, we will absolutely be staying here again. Lots of restaurant options very close, the national park is extremely close too. Overall the perfect stay for my family.

Loved the way the owners provided fresh fruits every morning, particularly the perfect papaya! The beds and sheets were very comfortable. The hot tub was kept at a beautifully hot temperature, though wasn’t sure of the chemical balance on the last day.

So quiet and peaceful. Love the fresh local fruit, coffee, the fridge and and microwave. Super close to the Volcano entrance. Beds were comfy and shower was hot and perfect 😉 jacuzzi was nice.

A funky, but nice place to stay when visiting Volcano National Park. The rooms are clean, but lack small things like space by the sink to put one’s toiletries. The do it yourself included breakfast consisted of cookies, ramen, and instant oatmeal with fresh fruit, coffee, tea available as well. Our first visit, we arrived late and had not received check in instructions and had to call the owner (on property) to tell us which unit we were in. Our second visit, all information was sent via email and we did not have to bother the hostess. If you are traveling on a budget, it’s a nice place.

It was a very nice place. You're in the middle of the rainforest which was kind of cool. We rented the honeymoon suite. It had a nice jetted tub, please know jetted was only big enough for one person. This is on the second floor so you will have to carry your suitcases up about 25 steps. There is a super comfortable king bed with lots of extra blankets. There is a little kitchen area that had tea and coffee available, as well as instant oatmeal, homemade banana bread, packaged ramen, and fresh fruit. Area included microwave, fridge, plates/bowls and utensils. The covered deck was nice place to eat, and relax. We will definitely return on our next trip back to the area.
