There is no desk clerk to meet you - just instructions by email with a door code and where to find your room and keys. Though not the hotel's fault, Google Maps took me to the back side of this property and it took us about 15 minutes to find the hotel. We walked by the police station and asked a couple of policemen and they didn't even know where it was. The hotel is a very old building, but well kept with spacious rooms and nice decor. There is no A/C and since we were there in mid-June, it was really hot in our suite. Now that we know where it is, we would be happy to stay there again - just not in June. :)

When you walk in it’s a wow moment as it is beautifully decorated and very in keeping with the character of the building. Our room was very large with a four poster bed. The property is self check in and we were given clear instructions and as such didn’t meet anyone until we checked out and paid. Due to the age of the property there are limitations on what can be done and as such no aircon, which was needed given the heatwave, but a fan was provided. Our room was over the front door so we could hear when people came and went as the door banged. The property is on a busy road so there is road noise, but the windows do a good job of blocking it out and ear plugs are provided if needed. Our bed was creaky which we advised Saban on check out so it could be dealt with for future guests.

The stay was ok. Little things made it disappointing, being told day before they had a no shoes policy in the hotel and could leave them at the entrance or carry to room. Mirror on wall was at a child’s height not a normal person. Coffee and tea making was on very low coffee table and needed to kneel down to make it. The place to leave clothes had coffee table in front of it so would not be ideal for long stays. As for building the 700 year old had plenty of character and was well presented.

Stone Court House was very welcoming even from pre arrival emails re parking etc . Very helpful. The owner, Saban was very informative and lovely to chat to. The whole place is very special, with lovely sitting areas and rooms. Our only thought, was if you have mobility issues, ask for a room on the ground floor, as there is no lift to the 3 floors. Also request one of the shower rooms. The others have a deep free standing bath with a shower hose, as we did, which can be tricky to get in/out of safely. It was a delightful place to stay, well located and parking nearby.

This was a new one for me..a staff-less hotel. You use a code you are sent to access the hotel and then your key cards are in your room. It all went like clockwork and without a hitch but it was a touch weird wandering around an empty house with music gently playing and a fire on the in the lounge. As for the hotel it was a delight. A rather uninspiring frontage onto a main road but once you enter the place is truly next level. The owners have clearly put in a huge effort creating a mini Downton Abbey interior with bedrooms sporting 4 poster beds and sweeping staircases. Impressive leather sofas around an open fire and even a full suit of armour. If I had to highlight a couple of very minor issues I would say that the shoes off house policy is fine but as a middle aged man trying to take my boots off in the porch with nothing to sit on was a real chore as I really did not want to have to sit on the floor. The courtesy of just a simple wooden chair in that area would really help. Also I didnt notice a lift so unless there is one hidden away I did not spot that would be worth checking if you have issues with stairs. They are really the only minor issues. Room was clean and welcoming, nice touch with the towels and chocolate on the bed and the shower was powerful and hot. Bed was very comfortable and I really can't fault any main aspect of the stay. There is no parking but the main town centre car park is only 50 yards away and at £9 for 24hrs it is perfectly reasonable.

Was a unique experience. No reception. No bar. No Dining Room. No on site parking. Communication was excellent with door code and security keys and mobile number in case of emergencies. The house was very welcoming with a Christmas tree and carols being played and as the house has a "no shoes" policy it would have been more convenient to have a dedicated area for changing footwear rather than the very tiny lobby area. However, the house was exquisitely furnished and our room was beautiful and very comfortable. Would recommend this house when visiting Maidstone because it is also very central.

Check-in was wierd and instructions were garbled. As room no did not appear on booking info I had to try each room to actually find an unlocked door. The check-in advice (times) were inconsistent. But Wow! The interior was fascinating and despite being renovated retained its 200+ year old charm. The room was spacious and supplied to 4* standard. The view and location refects its price.

Loved staying at the historic Stone Court House centrally located in Maidstone, an easy walk to the pedestrian zone where you’ll find pubs and restaurants. The property is run by amicable and outgoing Saban and Belinda, who keep the property tight and tidy. Rooms are spacious (I peeked into a few while being cleaned in the morning), individually decorated and historic, thus it is mandatory to take your shoes off at the main entrance just like you would at home. The common areas are palatial, photogenic, and relaxing, a chill locale to savor a glass of wine and shore-up tomorrow’s itinerary. I wish I had more time here, but it’ll have to wait till my return next year.

the hotel was beautiful, lovely room and amazing bathroom. parking was difficult, the hotel us on a main road so nowhere to unload. nearest parking is above a shopping mall opposite that seems to have a million exits, i was directed to the wrong one but some not very helpful locals. i had 3 heavy bags so it took the shine off the stay somewhat. also the hotel has no staff on site so everything is keyless. weird but functional but they are available on text message and phone. there’s no food available at all here. apparently you are supposed to get an email before you arrive, which i never got and as i wasn’t expecting one i wasn’t checking my spam. So gorgeous building, lovely room just beware if you need to unload or carry anything or expecting to eat.

Nice hotel but a few things not happy with. Shoes off at front door and standing on a rough horsehair rug with no seat provided which is no use for an older person. Arrived the Thursday evening and went out shopping Friday morning, came back to find all my items hidden in a cupboard and door left open. Then 3 people, one after the other arrived at the door in the space of 5 minutes to tell me why stuff had been moved and door left open.Turned out they were photographing the room and said I had been sent a message which I was not. Was told that if you stay more that one night they don’t enter your room unless you request them to which I never did. Felt on edge after this happened and worried that someone else would be knocking on the door. No drinks allowed unless bought from the hotel and no takeaway food allowed in rooms which I understand as it is an old building and smells linger. Was surprised to fine long blonde hair hanging from the lampshade which I thought was a cobweb at first. Also blonde hairs caught in my feet from the carpet as no shoes worn. Room was a lot smaller than it was made to look online. Bed very small and held together with metal clamps, would have been better if this was covered with a drape of some sort. Toilet hinge is metal with green marks on it which look horrible. Towels very rough. A few dusty areas in room and bathroom. Bathroom was lovely and huge. Booked as a treat after a bad year but was disappointed,would not stay again.

Different. I mean that in the absolute best sense of the word. From the small red door to come in, to taking my shoes off inside, the classical music playing on entrance, the beautiful fireplace and welcome area, the suit of armour, the staircase, the 4 poster bed, the free standing bath...I could go on and on but this is possibly my favourite hotel I've ever stayed in. The balance between being true to it's heretige and yet being warm, comfortable and good WiFi were outstanding. What the family have done here is superb. I had a guided tour of the well downstairs and the back rooms and I would push you to explore the hotel when you stay, sit in the dining room and take it all in and enjoy your time there. One of the rules is no take aways in your room because of the smell and mess, normally I would always have my breakfast or order a takeaway at night but here...I didn't want to, I wanted to sit in the dining room and just take it all in. I never come out of my room when working away. The bathroom and decorations throughout the hotel are stunning also, just true and authentic but at the same time so clean and modern. What would I change - A water fountain somewhere and some larger spoons in the dining room for breakfast (maybe I missed them). But that is absolutely clutching at straws and I'm sure (in fact I know) if I would have asked, I would have been given one. That is absolutely the smallest of small nitpicky things ever. The hotel rules. Stay there

I’m very pleased with my stay at Stone court house, staff was very friendly and helpful and I loved the vintage styled room. Very clean and cosy and the bed was comfortable. I felt safe and seen which is very nice as a solo traveler☺️✨

Was very happy on arrival very nice room, disappointed to find a half eaten bag of chrisps in the bedside table and used ear plugs , under the bed was a used plastic spoon This morning went to make a coffee and found the long life milk provided was out of date by over a month , to put into context the milk in our hotel tonight expires in May 2026 Such a shame as venue amazing and convenient

Such a beautiful and historic building to have the pleasure of staying at. The staff were very friendly and our room was immaculate with so many lovely features. The owners have made this place a lovely little gem and also with little touches in your room to give the added feel of luxury. The only preference from us would be stable tv/film channels as had a slight issue with the log ins during our stay that I’m sure would be better next time… Freeview would be a good addition. I loved the china tea cups and saucers idea to enjoy my cup of tea and the classical music as you walked throughout the house was perfect.

Approaching Stone Court House there’s no question the location doesn’t fill you with confidence- but keep going! Stone Court House is amazing. Part Stately Home part boutique hotel this Grade Ii listed building is truly great. Reminiscent of world-famous Hazlitts in Soho, the rooms are characterful and appear to be unique - its a wonderful stay. I can’t imagine there’s anywhere comes close for miles around. Two notes: get a room at the back - its on a noisy main road that stays busy. And pay in advance - the attention to detail is brilliant but all remote - in my experience I didn’t meet anyone in person to pay the bill. But do just go! Five stars across the board.

A beautifully presented property. The Scrutton Room in which we stayed was well presented and the atmosphere in the whole building was one of splendour. However, the traffic noise from Lower Stone Street was horrendous during the night and into the early hours. There was also loud music being played (not on the premises) until about 3.00a.m. I would stay at the property again but not in a room that fronted onto the main road.

Different. I mean that in the absolute best sense of the word. From the small red door to come in, to taking my shoes off inside, the classical music playing on entrance, the beautiful fireplace and welcome area, the suit of armour, the staircase, the 4 poster bed, the free standing bath...I could go on and on but this is possibly my favourite hotel I've ever stayed in. The balance between being true to it's heretige and yet being warm, comfortable and good WiFi were outstanding. What the family have done here is superb. I had a guided tour of the well downstairs and the back rooms and I would push you to explore the hotel when you stay, sit in the dining room and take it all in and enjoy your time there. One of the rules is no take aways in your room because of the smell and mess, normally I would always have my breakfast or order a takeaway at night but here...I didn't want to, I wanted to sit in the dining room and just take it all in. I never come out of my room when working away. The bathroom and decorations throughout the hotel are stunning also, just true and authentic but at the same time so clean and modern. What would I change - A water fountain somewhere and some larger spoons in the dining room for breakfast (maybe I missed them). But that is absolutely clutching at straws and I'm sure (in fact I know) if I would have asked, I would have been given one. That is absolutely the smallest of small nitpicky things ever. Such a beautiful and historic building to have the pleasure of staying at. The staff were very friendly and our room was immaculate with so many lovely features. The owners have made this place a lovely little gem and also with little touches in your room to give the added feel of luxury. The only preference from us would be stable tv/film channels as had a slight issue with the log ins during our stay that I’m sure would be better next time… Freeview would be a good addition. I loved the china tea cups and saucers idea to enjoy my cup of tea and the classical music as you walked throughout the house was perfect.

Check-in was wierd and instructions were garbled. As room no did not appear on booking info I had to try each room to actually find an unlocked door. The check-in advice (times) were inconsistent. But Wow! The interior was fascinating and despite being renovated retained its 200+ year old charm. The room was spacious and supplied to 4* standard. The view and location refects its price.

the hotel was beautiful, lovely room and amazing bathroom. parking was difficult, the hotel us on a main road so nowhere to unload. nearest parking is above a shopping mall opposite that seems to have a million exits, i was directed to the wrong one but some not very helpful locals. i had 3 heavy bags so it took the shine off the stay somewhat. also the hotel has no staff on site so everything is keyless. weird but functional but they are available on text message and phone. there’s no food available at all here. apparently you are supposed to get an email before you arrive, which i never got and as i wasn’t expecting one i wasn’t checking my spam. Nice hotel but a few things not happy with. Shoes off at front door and standing on a rough horsehair rug with no seat provided which is no use for an older person. Arrived the Thursday evening and went out shopping Friday morning, came back to find all my items hidden in a cupboard and door left open. Then 3 people, one after the other arrived at the door in the space of 5 minutes to tell me why stuff had been moved and door left open.Turned out they were photographing the room and said I had been sent a message which I was not. Was told that if you stay more that one night they don’t enter your room unless you request them to which I never did. Felt on edge after this happened and worried that someone else would be knocking on the door. No drinks allowed unless bought from the hotel and no takeaway food allowed in rooms which I understand as it is an old building and smells linger. Was surprised to fine long blonde hair hanging from the lampshade which I thought was a cobweb at first. Also blonde hairs caught in my feet from the carpet as no shoes worn. Room was a lot smaller than it was made to look online. Bed very small and held together with metal clamps, would have been better if this was covered with a drape of some sort. Toilet hinge is metal with green marks on it which look horrible. Towels very rough. A few dusty areas in room and bathroom. Bathroom was lovely and huge. Booked as a treat after a bad year but was disappointed,would not stay again.

Saban and Belinda were great hosts. They were very accommodating and paused their laundry so i could do mine between the two different legs of my trip. I neeed to make sure i had enough clean laundry as i would not have access ta any laundry facilities for the next 12 days. The room was nice, and perfect for a solo traveller.

We had a lovely 2-night stay at Stone Court House, and particularly want to thank Saban and Belinda who were very approachable, contactable and happy to answer any questions including regarding available amenities. Part Stately Home part boutique hotel this Grade Ii listed building is truly great. Reminiscent of world-famous Hazlitts in Soho, the rooms are characterful and appear to be unique - its a wonderful stay. I can’t imagine there’s anywhere comes close for miles around. Two notes: get a room at the back - its on a noisy main road that stays busy. And pay in advance - the attention to detail is brilliant but all remote - in my experience I didn’t meet anyone in person to pay the bill. But do just go! Five stars across the board.

My husband and I stayed at the property during the last bank holiday in may 2023. The outside of the property belies what you find inside. It was like stepping back in time, for people who like visiting historical buildings like us it was a fabulous place to stay. We stayed in the Judge Huddlestone room beautifully restored with a 4 poster bed. The only downside is that the property is on a busy road, so if you are not used to traffic the noise may bother you. However if you shut the bathroom door in our room you hardly hear the traffic and if you are from a city like London you will probably not notice it. The communal rooms are great, you are left to your own devices which is nice. We met our host on day 2 and he very generously gave us some bubbles. We highly recommend this property and will be back.

Excellent location in the middle of everything. I was going to a show at Mote Park and it was a simple walk of 15 minutes. It is right in the city area with plenty of shopping and food within a few minutes walk. The hotel looks totally nondescript from the outside, but once inside, it is a lovely redone old mansion kind of feel with a lot of character and flair. Really well-maintained.

Difficult to rate with one number. In a quieter location I'd give it a five star BUT given its location on a major and very busy street I can't give it more than 3 stars. Were I to visit Maidstone again (and I can't conceive why I'd want to) I would stay elsewhere. Great place in a lousy location. Just one travelers opinion.

Was a unique experience. No reception. No bar. No Dining Room. No on site parking. Communication was excellent with door code and security keys and mobile number in case of emergencies. The house was very welcoming with a Christmas tree and carols being played and as the house has a "no shoes" policy it would have been more convenient to have a dedicated area for changing footwear rather than the very tiny lobby area. However, the house was exquisitely furnished and our room was beautiful and very comfortable. Would recommend this house when visiting Maidstone because it is also very central.

Beautiful venue & pleasant, helpful hosts. Shame that you can't get breakfast there, but lots of places close by where you can go. We didn't get a chance to visit locally, so if we go down to this area again we would definitely stay here to visit the many places of interest in the area.

The hotel is immaculate the style is very olde worlde and is like stepping back in time, if you like antiques and history this is definitely a spot to stay. The room was clean and the bed was really comfortable I wot well both nights despite the heatwave at the time. The hosts are lovely the right level of attentive without being intrusive. All in all a gem in Maidstone.
