Great hotel our room was huge (room 5) and very comfortable. Staff were friendly, great breakfast and evening meals available in the bar restaurant onsite. Good location for visiting Balmoral and Cairngorms National Park. Couldn’t fault it.

Room was spacious, and quiet. People of the town , Tarland, are super nice and helpful. Breakfast delicious, and a lot of food. The service was above and beyond. Also, the dinners are fabulous if you decide to eat at the restaurant downstairs! We hope to be back!

Excellent stay for my one night stay; a Sunday. Pretty busy but service was great - genuinely interested in customers. Nice to have real ale and homemade food options. Comfortable room, good beds and facilities.

A little gem. This place is clearly a local hub. The restaurant and bar had a great buzz. The service and food were excellent as was the room. Definitely recommend and will stay again when I’m in the area.

Some of the staff are amazing, such as the young lady serving the breakfast, and the one checked me in. However, my second morning’s breakfast was not served in a best way it could’ve. This property has great deal of potential; it’s like a place that was 4-star at some point in the past. The room was cozy, although small. There was fake eyelashes next to the toilet, and lots of hairs on the bed cover. I had dinner with them once, and the food was really good. Parking was pretty convenient, too.

I'll start with the positives. The staff were lovely, so helpful and friendly and the location was good for my travels. Parking was easy and free. Room was a good size with ensuite bathroom and tea & coffee making facilities. The negatives. The room was freezing. No quilt on the bed, just a top sheet, blanket and thin throw but they had thankfully provided a hot water bottle. Although the bedding seemed to be fresh the towels did not. They smelt musty and one of them was filthy with a horrible brown stain on which I didn't investigate too closely. The room and the whole hotel smelt of cooking oil. Now I know I've got a strong sense of smell and that downstairs is a restaurant but I've stayed in hotels like this before and never known anything like this. It was really overpowering. Breakfast cold selection was nice but basic. Just one small table with a cereal selection, some fruit, yogurt and juice. Cooked breakfast were available to order and were lovely although the portion sizes were quite small. I chose just to have the bacon, eggs and tomato from the full Scottish breakfast. Normally when you drop a few items they increase the quantity of the others but no I literally got 1 slice of bacon, 1 egg and half a tomato. Again though the staff were lovely.

Clean comfortable rooms, great atmosphere with fantastic staff. Good choice of food, with specials most nights. Kitchen was flexible in providing early breakfast outside normal hours at the weekend when we had an early start to our activities for the day.

Very welcoming and attentive staff. Food was delicious. Rooms were veryclean and comfortable, lovely decor.

My husband recently stayed at this lovely family run hotel and was really impressed. Before his arrival they even called ahead to ask if he’d like them to reserve his tea time slot in case it filled up, such a thoughtful touch. The staff were very friendly and welcoming throughout. The hotel itself was clean, comfortable, and well looked after. They also went the extra mile by preparing him a packed lunch for the next day, which was much appreciated while he was working away. He’ll definitely be staying here again whenever he’s in the area for work.

My wife and I stayed here in Feb 2024 on our travels through Scotland for our honeymoon. The place met and exceeded our expectations in all regards. Clean, cozy, comfortable, great food, friendly and amazing staff. 10/10 would recommend.

We thought the hotel was lovely. Spotlessly clean inside, the rooms were very well equipped apart from the shockingly poor non steam iron in the room. The bed was super comfortable and all of the staff were incredible. Nothing was too much trouble, everyone was super welcoming and friendly and helpful. All of the food we had during our stay was lovely . Generous meals sizes and wonderfully prepared. The hotels is well managed and maintained and run by a wonderful team . I highly recommend this place to stay, you wont be disappointed. We will defo come to stay again .next time for longer. Thank you so much for making our time in Scotland so special .

Nice hotel with friendly staff, only issues I had was my room was on the front of the hotel and as I like to have my window open when the pub patrons were outside for a smoke I had a really strong smell of smoke in my room.

This is a little gem within a quite remote part of Scotland. If you're vegan, as I am, then this little hotel caters for you, even offering a vegan/veggie menu in the inhouse restaurant. The staff are friendly and helpful, prices are reasonable, rooms are comfortable and clean and it's clear that someone has put some thought into the facilities of the room and what a guest may require. The breakfast was great too. The only downside was the bedding. There are no duvets, just thin sheets and a blanket. There was a spare blanket in the room, but it still doesn't beat the comfort and practicableness of a duvet, in my opinion. It was a little chilly and the radiator wasn't on. A duvet is a a definite must in any accommodation these days, I would suggest. I travel a lot and put this hotel up there as one of my favourites. I will be back.

After the third time, I went through to the bar to find that an elderly lady was managing both bars, and check in.. Eventually after about 25 minutes we got checked in. The room was basic but clean, warm and comfortable. We had a nice cooked breakfast in the morning. I dont think £140 was particularly cheap for the standard of accomodation.

Et fint lite hotell med litt utdaterte, men komfortable rom. Gulv med helling og knirking bidro bare til sjarmen. Frokosten var veldig god med mange valgmuligheter.

We stayed here for one night for our friend’s wedding. It was a lovely stay in a friendly, authentic, well maintained hotel. There were good options for breakfast including a variety of cooked options and continental. We were sad we couldn’t have stayed here longer and hope to return

We had a lovely weekend. Everyone was very helpful and friendly especially Karen. Will recommend to friends and family. I left my I-Pad in the room and they posted it to me very quickly free of charge

This is a gem of a hotel well situated for Balmoral and other attractions. Spacious well appointed rooms with generous sized en- suite. Friendly and helpful staff. Great food choices and well cooked.

Excellent all around, an oasis very close to the national park, we will be back.
