This natural beauty surrounding this property is phenomenal, and there is direct access to the Furnas lake path. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. That's about where the positives end. When we checked in we were greeted by a wet dog in the reception area (the owners', apparently): big yuck. We were told that they had oversold the rooms and that we had been downgraded to an Oak Studio from a Japanese House (big downgrade). It was late in the day and we didn't have much of a choice at that point, so we took the room. It was cramped, smelled incredibly musty, and the beds were the hardest and most uncomfortable we've ever slept on. It felt more like an upscale dorm room than a luxury retreat. We checked out the next morning despite having planned to stay 2 nights, and to the staff's credit they refunded our second night and comped dinner the night before, which was greatly appreciated. The service at the restaurant was gracious and warm, but the food was fussy and not very good (except the first course: the bread and butter were amazing!). The spa and pool looked inviting, but the weather was bad so we did not have a chance to check it out. Overall, I'm grateful that the staff was hospitable and eager to make their mistake right, but the room was very disappointing and we will not be staying again.

This place was heaven! Even as we were driving into the property my jaw was dropped at the beauty of the forest leading you there. Marianna was our host at check in and was so warm…. personable, professional and informative. She really made our first losing experience in the Azores so comfortable and wonderful. The accommodations are top tier, as well as the food. Both the breakfast spread and dinners were exceptional. We didn’t have a chance to try the afternoon snacks but I’m sure that’s amazing as well. The spa and pool were perfect and we had the place to ourselves most of the time so it felt like a little private oasis. This was truly an experience for all the senses… I will be dreaming about it until we hopefully return some day!

The lovely room was clean, light and had everything we needed. Such a beautiful setting, and design. We loved it, The pool and spa area was great. It was disappointing that there were no options for a light evening meal at the hotel, only an expensive set menu, especially as it’s quite a drive to town. Also no food or drinks available during the day apart from snacks late afternoon. Coffee and tea was provided in the rooms but no milk available. I was reluctantly given some from the kitchen, but told to buy my own in town.

From the moment you arrive at Furnas Lake Forest Living, you feel a sense of calm. The reception was easy to find and we received a very warm welcome and explanation of the property, then were guided to our house. It was a very personal experience and I appreciated the attentiveness of the staff. The houses are secure, quiet, immaculately clean, and situated in a stunning forested area. There are even koi fish in the moat around the houses. All of the finishings were thoughtful and on brand for the location. We were able to enjoy the a la carte breakfast prior to checking out, and it was both delicious and satisfying. I'm very sad that we were unable to secure a reservation for dinner due to a conflicting reservation, but that just means we are due for a trip back! They are working on a spa and additional houses, which will make an already spectacular experience even better, I'm sure. Obrigada for making us feel right at home during our short stay. Can't wait to visit again (for longer this time).
