The rooms are decorated with photographs of special places in New Zealand, which, together with mostly solid wood furniture, make the flat feel very natural. Supermarkets, shops and bakeries are located between Kiwi Retreat and the historic town centre. Bad Urach is a spa town with many attractions such as the Albtherme, an outdoor 50 m swimming pool with views directly across to a ruined castle, a Kneipp pool, and some of Germany's most beautiful hiking paths. Waterfalls (Uracher & Gütersteiner), caving (Falkensteiner Höhle), canoeing (Lautertal), Hohen Wittlingen & Wolfsschlucht, Höllenlöcher, Ermsquelle, Hohen Urach offer many outdoor activities and boundless hiking and biking from the property.
