There could have been more bars outside, near the pools. Also, Mexican Pesos were not accepted at the in-hotel store, which was frustrating.

Everything was great. Room service, daily activities, courteous and friendly staff. We are planning to come here again next year. We had great interactions with Josh, Charlie, Rafael, and Miguel.

So clean and the staff so friendly and hard working! Service is quick around the pool and at the restaurants. Cleaning staff is amazing and detail oriented. Everyone so pleasant and really make you feel welcome. Pools are plenty and clean. Gym is fantastic and also clean with welcoming friendly staff. The beach is beautiful! Sunrise incredible to watch from the white powdery sand. Bring swim shoes to get past the rocky entrance to the water! The personal concierge we had wasn’t great and fell through on promises made, so we did our own work to call for room stock and restaurant/town transportation reservations. Whatever. Would love to return and do highly recommend!

This hotel is a time share so you have to give you room number all the time for everything. Bar opens from 11AM to 11pm. The hole place shuts down real early

This is the second time we stay on the property. Great food, drinks and staff. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. They cleaned the beach daily. Leo makes the best drinks make sure you visit him at the pool swim up bar. We will definitely be back.

Not as many restaurants as other all inclusive we have stayed at BUT the food was very good at the restaurants you needed reservations at. Sad to not have much of a beach but they are working on it.

The resort seems very thoughtfully designed, with most rooms having a view of the ocean. The grounds are beautiful and impeccably maintained. Service was the best I've experienced anywhere in Mexico, and our rooms were very clean. Added bonus - 4 great pickleball courts and two tennis courts, and a gym with good commercial equipment. Two members of our group had significant dietary allergies, and the chefs would confer with them and create dishes they could have, beautifully presented, and always with a smile. Highly recommend this resort.

The hotel is beautiful and quite expansive. The staff is very attentive and all the accommodations are excellent. Some of the restaurants require reservations, but it's definitely worth it. Kinoko restaurant was fun, the food was wonderful and the experience was worth the reservation. This is a timeshare hotel, so they will try to sell you on a presentation. But you receive a gift for your time and it's up to you if you want to purchase the timeshare, which many did. We enjoyed the spa services and received swedish massage for our time. It was an amazing 6 days and I would definitely go back. My only issue was the beach because it felt so small of an area compared to how large the property was.

Honestly I had an amazing stay here at Royal Haciendas. The staffs attention to detail is impeccable! All my needs were met and quite frankly please do not hesitate to book here! Everything was extremely clean and I absolutely loved the coffee and restaurant options! Will comeback again!

Hotel is good, but there are two things that I’d like to mention here for ppl who is planning to book this hotel. First beach is NOT good, it’s a rocky beach with big palm roots under water. It’s impossible to go into the water. Second it's very loud when someone walks through the corridors, pushing carts, food service, pretty much you can hear everything. I was there with my 19 months old baby, and she would wake up all the time during her day nap from that, or at night too. Sounds from the corridor were too loud.

Our room was spacious and convenient, we had a suite with a private bedroom and a jacuzzi on our balcony. The resort was clean and very large but it did need some maintenance. The resort is quite outdated, the infinity pool had pool tiles coming off that would sink to the bottom of the pool and a few buildings need some fresh paint. The majority of the staff were excellent like our concierge, Eugenia. She made things convenient for us and made herself accessible. Samuel, a pool waiter from Pool 1, provided us with excellent service. The pool/beach activities were fun and the shows were great. My husband and I did find it odd that the swim up bar pool bartenders all seemed to be in sour moods. Most of them would not greet us and stayed completely silent while they served us, although we speak fluent Spanish. Our first experience at the swim up bar was with Xochitel. I ordered a Bahama mama from her for my husband which she made with vodka. I assumed she had a previous order as Bahama Mamas are not made with vodka. She then handed me the drink and I asked her if she made it with rum, assuming I was confused. She confirmed she made it with vodka and I asked her to remake it with rum. She responded that I never asked for rum. I told her she was right but that Bahama mamas are not made with vodka. She proceeded to remake it and began scoffing at our interaction with her coworkers very obviously. We had a good time overall but there are much nicer resorts in the area.

Made us switch rooms after 1 day. New room….. shower sprayed in every direction. Safe was not working . We were not happy. We stayed in the oceanfront room ,payed a lot of money . When staff was informed shower was malfunctioning and safe did not work at all, NOTHING was done!! This was our 5 th year staying … nightly buffet went way down hill… 5 yrs ago I gave this resort 5 stars,this year maybe 2 1/2 .. will not be back

Staff is very friendly and they are quick to take care of any concern. Qe were supposed to get an oceanview room, however, it was a partial view. Friday evening Olivia contacted me to move us to 4th floor to a premium room with a full view. The move would've takwn place on Friday. Because of our plans for an early tour on Friday and departing early Monday morning I told her we would stay where we were. Our stay was only for 4 nights, so it wasn't worth the trouble to move. They had offered to move us, but we felt it wasn't worth the trouble.

The hotel has large and comfortable rooms, room service is amazing, staff personnel super kind and helpful, they have a very good transportation and tours agency: Thomas More, really reliable. The Front desk and Concierge Diana were super friendly. Out of their food service the best restaurant is "Los Murales", is a specialty restaurant but the quality of the food is really good. The buffet area was really clean and the service staff very professional, however the variety of the food could be better. Pool areas and amenities are family oriented, but the beach is not that good, too much sea weed. Overall, this hotel has a good price-quality relation.

The rooms are all great and the suite has plenty of space that are not present at many other resorts. The food is good quality and many different options to eat. The staff is all amazing and are always happy to help with any needs. The beds were a bit too firm, but that's common for most hotels.

A lot of beach erosion, which is no one's fault but the website should reflect this. The hotel photos showing the beach is incorrect, you cannot walk around the restaurant out the front, the base of the restaurant is in the ocean. You cannot swim at this beach as erosion has taken away the sand and old trees, roots and branches are sticking up out of the sand. Food variety was good although not used to just ONE chef making breakfast egg orders, so a long queue. Also, you had to ask your server for bacon as no trays of bacon at the buffet. Servers everywhere were excellent, friendly and would remember where you sat, what your room number was and what previous orders you had the day before, fabulous! Did NOT like the room bed configuration, two double beds. Not queens, but doubles. With a 6'2" long husband, I couldn't fit in the bed with him so we slept in the two separate beds. Sad when we were there for his birthday. Housekeeping was great, clean, tidy and neat rooms each day. Location great as you could hire hotel bicycles (free) and ride 10-12mins to the popular 5th Avenue shops. Disappointed with the Concierge as I asked him two days prior to make a reservation for my husband's 60th birthday dinner for four. We dressed up, went to the restaurant, no reservation, not even a spare table for us. Checked with Concierge and he had the cheek to say we hadn't asked him to make a booking - really???!!! Don't think we will come back again.

The staff and the location were wonderful! Anyone booking here must understand that it is a timeshare and members have priority. This means you could be asked to change rooms during your stay and booking in the nice restaurants is difficult. My air conditioner didn’t work the entire week and they didn’t resolve this situation.

The main room had two pull-down single beds that my kids used, and my wife and I used the master bedroom with a door to close. There were two sitting chairs in the bedroom with footrests. The bathroom double-sink area could be closed off for privacy, or left open. The toilet and walk-in shower were in their own private area. There was a kitchen facility with full fridge, microwave, and full stove. There were kitchen cabinets stocked with pots, pans, and silverware. The room was excellent for a family where the older kids get their own space at night, and mom & dad get their personal space. The veranda was accessible through two sets of sliding glass doors, from the great room or the master bedroom. It had a table with four chairs, two more chairs, and a hot tub with hot & cold water. There were two AC units with ceiling blowers, each with their own thermostat. Each room had a ceiling fan with slider speed control for extra airflow if you wanted it. There was a 3 spot sofa in the great room, with a glass round table and 6 kitchen chairs. There were two wicker loungers with cushions. The room was the best I've had in any MX vacation over the last 25 years. There was so much closet space we could have moved in for a month. There were at least 4 end tables here and there for more horizontal space, and drawers. There were also two HDTV's with some kind of cable television boxes, but we didn't use them. The free WIFI kicked ass, even outside on the beach.

As soon as we checked in the resort lobby, we were assigned a "personal concierge", and her sole job was to convince us into signing up for a timeshare sales meeting even before we had the chance to put up our luggage in the room. She was very tenacious into persuading us to sign the attendance document. We declined the first person with much difficulty, but everytime we went to the lobby, somebody would approach us asking why we declined her. Eventually, we gave in and agreed to attend the sales pitch. They used all kinds of tactics from "now or never" to "emotional appeals". They tried to sell us a package worth $60K as an upfront investment, along with a monthly fees of $1600. We decline the offer to the salesperson, but then her manager showed up with another (but a similar) spiel and we had to decline the offer to him as well. The whole sales pitch went on for 45 minutes straight. We were promised a gift card in the amount of $160 for attending the sales pitch which was reduced to $120 at the time of the checkout without any explanation. The whole sales pitch was excruciating stressful as expected. There was no poolside music and the beach was rendered useless due to the excessive seaweed accumulation. On a positive note, the food was fantastic and the staff was courteous for the most part. Overall, we would not recommend this place in good conscience.

We were welcomed in and immediately was shown our room by our concierge ( i don’t remember his name but he was very helpful)! The food was delicious the staff was polite and helpful, room service was a little behind or short staffed but otherwise we got everything we needed when we asked for it. Disappointing Experience – Beware of Timeshare Pressure Our stay at the Royal Haciendas All-Inclusive Resort was unfortunately overshadowed by a very pushy and unhelpful concierge. From the moment we checked in, it felt like the main priority wasn't our comfort or experience, but rather getting us to attend a timeshare sales pitch. The concierge repeatedly pressured us to join a “brief informational breakfast,” which we quickly realized was just a ploy to rope us into a lengthy and aggressive timeshare presentation. When we politely declined, the tone shifted—suddenly it felt like we were being ignored or given the bare minimum help. Requests for local recommendations or help with bookings were met with vague answers or rerouted to other staff. It’s a shame, because the property itself is beautiful and had the potential for a relaxing vacation, but the constant pressure and lack of genuine hospitality really soured the experience. We came here to unwind, not to be sold something we didn’t want. I wouldn’t recommend this resort unless you’re ready to deal with high-pressure sales tactics and lackluster service from those who are supposed to help you make the most of your trip. BEWARE OF GUSTAV

We have stayed at Rayal Haciendas several times. We always stay the week prior to the resort closure for 1 week for maintenance. This year their breakfast, lunch and dinner offerings were very slim due to a restaurant buffet closure being replaced with a very LIMITED buffet. Since we have been in the past and we know what to expect- this was very disappointing. We ended up with reservations every night and ate the same thing every night for dinner- the point of having multiple restaurants is to have variety. Additionally, their closed restaurants often features dinner shows that weren't available as well. Finally on Friday- they had begun draining the pool early. Pretty annoying that we missed out on multiple things so they can get an early start- next time just close the whole resort for 2 weeks- instead of limiting the experience for paying guests. Usually, we are very satisfied with this resort- otherwise we wouldn't have returned 4x. On a positive note- the staff are very kind, thoughtful, and helpful- always wanting to provide the best service to the guests. They are our favorite part, they always remember us and what we like. We appreciate them especially :)

Timeshare heavy and if you aren’t an owner, they will do anything to get you to attend a presentation. Resort’s staff was extremely helpful, friendly and willing to go above and beyond. They even came to decorate our room for our daughter’s birthday, they made her a beautiful balloon arch, brought her a yummy slice of cake and for us a bottle of champagne. Buffet was not bad, but not great. The other two on site restaurants were good. The pools were clean and the perfect temperature. The grounds were tropical, clean and well maintained. The beach unfortunately does not look like the pictures due to erosion, but still beautiful and well maintained. Overall it was a wonderful stay.

Good value, very clean. Most of the staff was very friendly, some not so much. Limited restaurants with extremely limited reservations. Time share owners get preferential treatment, it’s very obvious. Overall it was a good vacation and our family may return at some point in the future.

This was hands down one of the most disappointing resort experience my family has ever had From the start, we were given conflicting information about our rooms and pressured to pay extra to avoid being moved mid-stay. We were harassed into attending a sales pitch that was misrepresented (told 15 minutes, then forced into 90), and later charged full price for an excursion because of their lies. The website falsely advertises a beach that does not exist — it’s closed for years of repairs with no mention at booking. Service was equally unacceptable: staff refused basic requests (like bringing food), sold me sandals they wouldn’t unlock, and made restaurant reservations nearly impossible despite advertising multiple dining options. The worst part: my brother and his partner were targeted by another guest with discriminatory slurs and harassment. Instead of protecting them, the resort kicked them out while allowing the aggressor to stay. We later saw him comfortably dining at the property. That is beyond irresponsible — it’s shameful. This was supposed to be a family trip to honor my late mother, and it turned into a nightmare. Management showed zero accountability, zero honesty, and zero concern for guest safety. The only bright spot was Jeanette in the lobby, who genuinely tried to help — but one kind employee does not make up for systemic failures across this resort. Do yourself a favor: book elsewhere. This place is dishonest, unsafe, and absolutely not worth the money.

We frequent All Inclusive resorts yearly. This is a clean, large resort with great staff. They have massive pools and staff are all very friendly and helpful. If they tweaked a few things it could be one of the best resorts. You really get your moneys worth. Now here are the negatives.. No night life to speak of. Everything shuts down early so it’s great if you have a young family. If you don’t it’s boring. Wish the entertainment and activity teams did a little more through the day. The crowd around the pool enjoys it but it’s only later in the afternoon for an hour. Also no music playing at any of the pools. Would be nice to make things a little more lively. Only one place to get alcohol after dinner is a bummer because it’s a big place. Makes it annoying when watching the night show having to walk pretty far a beer in a paper cup. Last negative in regards to food. No tacos the whole week we were there. Come on no tacos😨

Serene and peaceful family friendly resort.

Stayed at the Royal Haciendas over our Spring Break 2025. Nice hotel, great service. Cleanliness was excellent. In my opinion, they are limited on dining options, but buffet food is good. Never very busy, which was good. We always found chairs at the pool. Some good activities, and the kids loved the pools. The beach needs some help, but the resort acknowledges it. Very safe and quiet resort. Almost too quiet. Everything outside closes at 9 pm. Loved the movies by the beach, and the nightly entertainment outside though. Overall, we had a good stay. Kids will require some sort of night life for our next trip.

Safe and friendly resort. We went with our family and felt extremely comfortable. Staff were very helpful. Didn’t worry about the kids. Everyone was welcoming. Grounds were well maintained and the resort was clean. Yes there was some erosion to the beaches but they were still very enjoyable and with many public beaches within walking or biking distance we did not feel we missed out. There’s lots to do at the resort for all ages. Many options for day excursions near by including Tulum, snorkeling and Rio Secreto.

We stayed on the left side and that was more quiet. Place was easy to get around but very hard to get into restaurants and food took a long time to order. No options to walk in and grab food mid day had to sit down somewhere and order. Otherwise was great, very clean and very nice friendly workers. Beach was not very walkable and full of seaweed, broken trees and such from past storms, knew this before coming. Did not matter to us.

The hotel was exceptionally clean and the grounds were beautifully maintained. Our 5 year old son loved the pools and the wood fired pizza from Luna Grill. The waitstaff were all so friendly and always had a smile for us. If you are looking for an easily accessible beach, this is it the place for you. The beach erosion is terrible leaving the water almost inaccessible. NOT the hotel’s fault at all. We were able to walk down the beach a bit (maybe 10 min walk) and found beautiful beaches reminiscent of what one would expect of a beach in Mexico. I think the hotel is ideal for young families as there are lots of options for food and snacks. We didn’t eat at any of the restaurants other than the buffet and poolside grills. All 3 were good but the poolside grills were definitely better options for us. As an aside, we are Canadian and had difficulty with using our CIBC Visa and bank card. We have travelled a fair bit and have never encountered an issue like this before. It was fine as we had American cash but to settle the bill, the hotel prefers you pay in pesos or credit card. I think the hotel caters to more Americans as I did not encounter any other reviews indicating these issues. Likely whatever bank they use does not accept CIBC and the front desk staff did indicate this had been an issue for other Canadian travellers. Overall, we had a great time and would recommend this resort to anyone travelling to Playa del Carmen!

We just came back from an amazing vacation. The hotel was pretty perfect for our little family with our 4 year old. It’s not close to any stores so bring your necessities and toys. My only complaint is the mattresses are hard. We are already planning a trip back to stay at the Royal Hacienda.

Property was great but its in the middle of no where. Not much to do outside of the resort

I recently stayed at The Royal Haciendas in Playa del Carmen. The resort itself is beautiful, with clean and spacious rooms, well-kept grounds, and a relaxing atmosphere. Housekeeping was consistent, and most staff were polite. Unfortunately, many parts of the stay were disappointing. Room service was extremely slow — every order took about an hour to arrive, and guests are required to wait another full hour before placing a second order. When I followed up, the staff on the phone were rude rather than helpful. The pools had too much chlorine, making swimming uncomfortable. The beach was full of seaweed and essentially unusable, which was a big letdown for a beachfront resort. The food was another weak point. While the buffets had plenty of options, the quality was poor — dishes felt like they were made just to fill space, with little flavor or freshness. It was disappointing to see variety without quality. Overall, while the property itself is attractive, the poor food, unusable beach, chlorine-heavy pools, and slow, unfriendly service made the stay fall far below expectations. I hope management addresses these issues, as the resort has potential but currently does not deliver the standard it promises.

Rooms were great, air conditioning worked well, no mini bars in rooms, stocked with a couple beers and sodas and waters daily. Food was terrible in the buffet, never warm/hot, limited selection compared to other all inclusive. Also the restaurant (buffet) is not air conditioned, is open so uncomfortable temperatures when eating. Also, is not truly all inclusive at all, many items have an additional cost not included when booked as all inclusive. The food at the 2 booked restaurants was good, if you are able to get a reservation. Service was not consistent, some staff friendly and helpful, others not at all. First and last time staying at this resort, does not compare to others at a similar price point. Also they are heavy on the time share selling, but members do get better service, so there does seem to be some benefit to doing so.

Overall not a bad resort Im just used to better. Buffet is not that great (including breakfast) but 2 dinner restaurants and pool bar were excelent. Pool was little cold. And elevator wasn’t working properly (we had a baby in a stroller). 2 bedroom apartment with an ocean view was amazing. No beach was not a problem for us but if you’re looking for a beach you will be disappointed

The resort was incredibly clean, the room was excellent, and the staff helpful and friendly. The only wish was for a few more dinner options, as reservations at the two main dinner restaurants were difficult to get.

The rooms and other areas of the hotel were very clean, and the staff was very friendly. DO NOT get the all-inclusive package at this hotel. There are only two small restaurants open for dinner and it was very difficult to get reservations. The food at the buffet was good for breakfast but very bad for dinner, so you will want to eat at the nicer restaurants. The staff tried very hard to accommodate us, but there were too many people compared to the number of available seats, so there was not much they could do. I would not go back to this property until they build another sit-down restaurant.

This property has many great things. The food was fantastic, probably the best quality food I have had at an all inclusive and I have been to 30+. The pools bars had great food and options, the pizza place was fantastic, the 2 reservation restaurants were great. the rooms were awesome. We had a 2 bedroom suite which was so nice for out family of 5. Pools were great, very clean. I liked the size of the resort, very walkable. Not crowded ever at the pool or anywhere. The things that I didn't love, the reservation system for dinners. You had to call every morning at 8:00 to get a reservation for that night which means I had to get up at 8:00 every day which wasn't super fun on vacation. But the worst part was when you called at 8:00, they only had reservations available for 5pm or 9pm. We did get reservation for a couple of night and when we went the restaurant was 1/2 full. Very annoying and dysfunctional reservation policy. But like I said the food was very good at the other restaurants but would have been nice to have dinner at normal times. They other thing that I didn't like was they alcohol policy. No alcohol served before 11 am and no alcohol served after 11 pm. Anywhere. And room service was very stingy on alcohol as well. I have never been to an all inclusive that didn't have late night options. There was very little "night life". The shows were hit or miss, there is no club or anywhere really to do anything at night other than the lobby bar which had live music at 8pm

I wasn’t impressed with the buffet food, is not the best, the only good food options are the 2 main restaurants and you will need reservations every time you visit them. The facilities are great, the beaches were in horrible condition, due to the current seaweed situation.

Mostly everything was great. The staff was hit and miss. About 90% were spectacularly friendly but there were those who looked and acted like they didnt want to be there. The breakfast in the morning was missing items that would not be replaced promply (30 minutes), also several dishes were cold.

The food at the buffet was not great. There were some nights, I only ate salad, since I don't eat burgers, hot dogs, fries. Also, I don't want food like that when I'm on vacation in Mexico. The desserts looked nice, but did not taste good, consistently. Also, I could not get a good drink at the bar. I tried many alternatives, but none tasted the way they should. We had one very nice dinner our last night at one of the restaurants. If we had 2-3 meals like this during our stay, it would have felt like it was worth the money. I booked this vacation on Expedia, but checked the Royal Haciendas own website to see if it was the best deal. They were comparable. We are a family of 4 with two teens. When you indicate the children's ages, there is a drop box to choose the ages, 17 & 14. When we arrived at the resort after traveling all day, they stated that we only paid for one child, one was indicated as 7 years old. Since I checked different websites to compare prices and the child age drop box is on each site, it felt like we were scammed. They charged an additional $610 when we arrived. It wasn't cheap to start with. The villa itself is beautiful and our beach front room was spacious, clean and had gorgeous views.
