GR Solaris Lighthouse is a reasonable budget all-inclusive option for staying in San Jose Del Cabo, however, several things could have been improved. For starters, the lighthouse part of the hotel (arguably the coolest aspect of the hotel and one of the reasons we chose this place) was closed for renovations and this was not advertised prior to booking. To go along with this, the hotel hid this fact by stating 'the elevator is broken so the lighthouse is closed until it is fixed'. We stayed for a week and the elevator never got fixed so they openly lied there. Our room was a deluxe room with ocean view which was very clean and had a great bath tub... until we tried it on our third day to which the hot water tap was brown. Upon calling about this, they suggested to run the tap until it was clear but it never became clear and had a yellow-ish tint, highly disappointing considering we upgraded deliberately to use the tub. The main buffet restaurant was also not great regarding the food but probably as expected as budget all-inclusives go. The Mexican and Italian restaurants were better but the required dress code enforcement was inconsistent (I was refused entry wearing open-toe sandals only to come back with 'correct' footwear to see that the hostess had let in numerous groups with flip flops on, extremely infuriating!) Overall, not a terrible stay but certainly not a 4-star experience in which it is advertised for. We won't be staying again.

Grounds are well maintained. Was there for 4 nights, swim up pool bar run out of mezcal on our first day and never restocked it for the rest of our trip,bartenders suggested we go complain to the front desk because the hotel refuses to restock the bars.

They just got the property on the 1st of October. The property needs a lot of work. The pools were in need of a lot of work with cracked/ broken tiles. The swim up had really cloudy, brownish water. The floats in the pool had a green film. No excuse, there were literally less than 20 people staying at the resort. We did see the infinity pool getting chlorinated so hit that one up. Bars/ lounges were closed. Service (edgar at the buffet) was excellent. We did do the presentation but still awaiting our vouchers for future travel 3 days, later...

Things were still not open. Sushi restaurant was not open. Skybar was not open. Food was fine. Pool entertainment was awesome - well done by Ari and Alfredo. We didn’t get to use the facilities next door at their sister hotel. Good experience. Staff was very nice.

The property is right on the beach and has a lovely view! However, the beach is not suitable for swimming. The pools are nice. However, the temperatures varied throughout our stay and the hot tub was not hot/warm. The room was clean and met overall expectations. The elevator was out of service so we had to take the stairs during the entirety of our stay (not a huge deal but something to note). The food was pretty average but there were a lot of options at the buffet. Overall we had a good time, staff was nice.

Very, very disappointed with this hotel stay. Most elevators throughout the resort were out of order including their main elevator for their Lighthouse Bar which was closed as a result. Food was very poor in buffet areas with lots of items missing like butter, black tea and when asked staff were not helpful and actually ignored us. Reservations at the two select restaurants were very difficult to get before 8:30 in the evening, if at all. Several lights were out in the bedroom. At $450 per night this is by no means a cheap hotel.

I truly enjoyed my stay at GR Solaris. The property was immaculately clean and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. The food was good overall, though I believe it would benefit from using fresher ingredients and offering more variety in the selection. The pool area was absolutely amazing – a highlight of our stay, especially for the kids. I would like to extend a special thanks to Mrs. Fernanda, the Customer Service Manager. She was incredibly professional, kind, and attentive. Upon our arrival, she welcomed us with a thoughtful gesture of champagne and a tray of chocolate-covered strawberries, which we truly appreciated. She also helped us secure restaurant reservations in advance, making our experience much smoother. As a generous courtesy from management, Mrs. Fernanda offered us a late check-out at 5 PM due to our evening flight, which allowed us to enjoy one more relaxing day by the pool – a wonderful bonus for the whole family. 😊

More dining options would be good. Found the service at the restaurants to be very slow- there was a staffing shortage. You had to pay for the little coffee shop onsite, and only one bar open during the day time hours starting at 10 am. We were surprised the lobby bar was only open in the evenings. The pizza was very good and made to order- however you were not allowed to take it out of the buffet area- which were very loud. We stayed in a deluxe overview room, it was very nice and clean. Loved the towel animals.

The resort was beautiful. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was what you would expect from an all inclusive. The landscaping and grounds were meticulously maintained. The area around the resort had plenty of options for shopping, restaurants and cafes. We look forward to our next visit.

Drinks were water down, pool bartenders either overworked or underpaid. The food as barely edible and areas not very sanitary. Not many activities and shows although they tried were not great. Cleaning ladies for the rooms were excellent After checking in they send you to talk to someone and they want you to join their club, once I denied they were rude.

We spent 5 days there and everyone was so nice. They cleaned our room everyday and even folded our clothes which was unusual to us. They also restocked our fridge everyday with water and beer. We had an ocean room with a balcony which was beautiful to see every morning. Also it was nice to actually leave the resort and walk to town with restaurants, bars, and music. All the locals are really nice. The only thing we didn’t like is the Time Share sales people but you can just say, “No thank you, I’m not interested “. We will definitely go back.

Beautiful property and staff was super!!! Especially Luis around the pool. He was fantastic! The air conditioning in the room could have been colder, only one elevator worked, and my husband got stuck on it once. Refrigerator in room quit working. Food was mediocre, a bit on the bland side the pools were fabulous and the Resort was very quiet and safe.

Disappointing Experience – Not Worth the Price I recently stayed at this resort and, unfortunately, it did not live up to expectations. The overall service was mediocre at best. The front desk staff were particularly unfriendly and unwelcoming, which set a negative tone from the moment we arrived. It felt like we were more of a burden than valued guests. The food across most of the resort was underwhelming—bland, poorly presented, and certainly not what you’d expect from a property in this price range. The only exception was the sushi restaurant, which was excellent. Great quality, attentive service, and truly the highlight of the dining experience. It’s a shame because the property itself has potential, but the lack of hospitality and attention to detail really diminished our stay. I won’t be returning and would not recommend it to anyone seeking a true resort-level experience.

The property was clean for the most part. I would just say it’s an older property. Pool area chairs and tables can use better cleaning or replacing. The room was clean. Bed was comfortable. I struggle going on vacation because of the bed but I would say it was comfy!

I didn't like that there was no hot water not in the shower not in the hot tub and this was not told before when we checked in. We stayed there five nights with no hot water lukewarm at best. Front desk was rude about returning our towels and acted like we stole them. The resort needs to work out a few issues and then it will be nice. The fiesta night dinner was gross it was like all weeks leftovers. It was fairly empty the week we stayed April 22nd through the 27th

This being my second time to this resort since the Solaris took over for the Barcelo, I have been very very disappointed. The staff is still amazing and great, but some of the staff members from the Solaris focus solely on members, and I was basically told that if I did not get a timeshare membership that I was a nobody after being to the resort close to 50 times as the Barcelo would I recommend going back no the only reason I would ever go back is due to the staff that have stayed although about 40 percent of the staff that was at the Barcelo have left due to new management changes. Also the changes in the food at the à la carte restaurants is awful twice now I have felt very sick after eating there. I had a girlfriend that got food poisoning, and from swimming in the infinity pool, her hair turned green and their response to this was that it was her shampoo or her detergent since other people‘s white bathing suits also turned green. I believe if we were a member, it would’ve been seriously taken care of but being not members of a timeshare they could care less that is just my personal opinion love the resort for years and years having been there close to 50 times before really thinking again about not going back and going to somewhere else

I believe if we were a member, it would’ve been seriously taken care of but being not members of a timeshare they could care less that is just my personal opinion love the resort for years and years having been there close to 50 times before really thinking again about not going back and going to somewhere else

The property is right on the beach and has a lovely view! However, the beach is not suitable for swimming. The pools are nice. However, the temperatures varied throughout our stay and the hot tub was not hot/warm. The room was clean and met overall expectations. The elevator was out of service so we had to take the stairs during the entirety of our stay (not a huge deal but something to note). The food was pretty average but there were a lot of options at the buffet. Overall we had a good time, staff was nice.

Overall we really liked our stay at the Solaris Lighthouse resort. First, the staff were incredible. This includes the bar staff at the pool, like Luis! The breakfast staff were hustling to meet everyone’s needs. Martha, who was the hostess for our son’s wedding at the was top notch! Sabas, who is a trainee working at the concierge desk was awesome and helped get our luggage from the airport and had great suggestions on what to do. The breakfast buffet was fantastic each day with a variety of things to choose from like fresh fruit, cereals, cook to order eggs, etc. The lunch buffet was marginal at best. It was the same thing each day and not great choices. The dinner buffet was decent and the Italian restaurant was great but you need a reservation for that. Mario, our waiter was excellent there! We tried the Mexican restaurant the first night and walked out after not getting waited on for 15 minutes. The pools were all excellent and felt like they were clean each day. It was annoying having to get up early to get a chair, but not sure how to solve that one. Our room was ok. The USB ports did not work at all and the screen door almost fell off each time you went on the balcony. We had a beach front room and the view of the ocean was great. You can tell that Solaris is working on the property to get it fixed up and I think it will be even better in a short time. I will go back but will wait a little while until they get the kinks worked out. Staff was fab!!

The front desk staff was terrible. The resort was had changed ownership and I was notified and did the proper changes that was needed to be done. I got to the resort and my reservations were canceled with no notification. The front desk staff (manager Jerusalem) was not trying to accommodate me the price I was locked into before the changes. All he kept saying was he could give me a room but it was a standard at a cheap price. I ended up coming to Expedia and getting the room I orginally reserved cheaper than what Jerusalem was offering me.

More dining options would be good. Found the service at the restaurants to be very slow- there was a staffing shortage. You had to pay for the little coffee shop onsite, and only one bar open during the day time hours starting at 10 am. We were surprised the lobby bar was only open in the evenings. The pizza was very good and made to order- however you were not allowed to take it out of the buffet area- which were very loud. We stayed in a deluxe overview room, it was very nice and clean. Loved the towel animals.

The only reason why I don’t rate the property as terrible is because our bartender at the pool was amazing and suggesting drinks for us to try. But as soon as we go there nothing was explained to us, the memberships and the different levels and restrictions, we were never give a towel card so we didn’t have towels for the first for the pool, we had to call down several times for our bags to be brought to our room since they took them when we arrived, when Luis was supposed to reservations for the restaurants he which the times and dates (disrupting our plans for my sister’s Birthday Dinner) and it wasn’t shared that the property was under construction. There were multiple times that we had to take the long way to our hotel room because the construction blocked our way to get to the elevators. Each day it seemed like there was a new problem and when we went to address it we were shrugged off because we booked on Expedia. They made it a point to be clear that since we used Expedia that they would address our concerns at their convenience. I would highly recommend staying somewhere else especially since the only time they appeared to have everything together was when it looked like there was a site visit happening. It was apparent by all of a sudden, the lifeguard equipment being hung by the pool, the once two out of the four bathrooms stalls(by pool) now miraculously fixed, handicap was available, and the bucket that was used in the bathroom to catch the overflow water was gone

We spent 5 days there and everyone was so nice. They cleaned our room everyday and even folded our clothes which was unusual to us. They also restocked our fridge everyday with water and beer. We had an ocean room with a balcony which was beautiful to see every morning. Also it was nice to actually leave the resort and walk to town with restaurants, bars, and music. All the locals are really nice. The only thing we didn’t like is the Time Share sales people but you can just say, “No thank you, I’m not interested “. We will definitely go back.

We enjoyed our 10 night stay and can’t say enough about the amazing staff. They were so helpful and friendly. There are lots of choices for food and 2 bars to get drinks from. Our room was cleaned and restocked every day. They did have shortage of towels from time to time. Beds were comfortable and always had hot water for our showers. We walked or took the bus to many places in the area and always felt safe.

Stayed Oct 22-30, 2024. It was off-season and the place was pretty empty (nice), one building was completely dark. Everything was available, though. Food is buffet style--not amazing, but good enough with plenty of dishes to choose from and service was great. DJ at the pool. Place was very clean, but one elevator in our bldg didn't work and none of the ice machines worked. They should take the ice signs down. Hotel is located right on the beach, on the Sea of Cortez side of Baja, but in an area not near anything so if you want to go anywhere, you will have to figure it out yourself and arrange transportation. We booked this trip through Expedia who offered no transportation from the airport to the hotel, but we found a company and arranged private transportation to/from the hotel. We went on an ATV excursion through Real Baja Tours which was a blast, but it took us about an hour and 10 minutes to get to the ATV beaches on the Pacific side (but well worth it). This hotel is far from Cabo San Lucas, but you have peace and quite here. Beaches in this area are big and uncrowded. We were warned to stay out of the ocean due to a strong undertow, but I went in up to my calves with no problems--warmest ocean I've ever been in. We saw a large sea turtle lay eggs in the sand, bury them, and return to the sea. Saddled horses are brought to the beach daily and are ready to ride anytime of day. There are ladies providing massages on the beach, as well.

Beautiful property and staff was super!!! Especially Luis around the pool. He was fantastic! The air conditioning in the room could have been colder, only one elevator worked, and my husband got stuck on it once. Refrigerator in room quit working. Food was mediocre, a bit on the bland side the pools were fabulous and the Resort was very quiet and safe.

Much like it's sister property next door, this place is just old and could use some major renovations. 3 star property at best due to view and location. Pool water excruciatingly hot and with heat indexes around 100 it was never refreshing. it actually felt gross. The food was absolutely abysmal. Beer is limited to Tecate light and Dos XX. that's it. We were here last week of July 2025 so its considered "off-season" so although they tried so hard for engagment and fun the crowd wasn't lively. Not their fault mind you, but we've definitely had more fun at other resorts.

Your dinner's were awful. Lunch was below average. Breakfast was very good. We stayed there when it was the Grand Faro and the food was all around outstanding which is why we rebooked this time. Not sure we will stay here again

I had one of the most terrible experiences in hotels at the Solaris. The buffet was not open until 1pm, so we decided to eat the snacks at the pool until they opened. The cheese sauce was watery and didn't taste like cheese. The ceviche had been sitting there for god knows how long, it tasted like cardboard and I had to spit it out. The hamburger patties tasted like rubber and I was very surprised how the bad the food was. Once the buffet opened, I assumed we were going to be safe. I spoke too soon. The buffet had the same vibe, nothing was edible and I ended up eating a watery ice cream cone just to satiate my appetite. I tried ordering room service later to see if they could redeem themselves, that too, was a culinary disaster! The one thing this hotel needs to improve on the most is w their security. There was a weird guy tweeking outside our hotel room, we were not sure what he was doing but we got scared and wanted to call security to come and help this gentleman. I CALLED AND CALLED, EVERYONE (CONCIERGE, FRONT DESK, GUEST SERVICES, ETC...) NOBODY WAS ANSWERING. I called for 45 minutes and no answer!!! Overall, sheets smelled like urine and upper hotel staff was not accommodating. Will never go back, we left that night even though we had a whole week, and they refused to give any money back!! Horrible, terrible service!! Ran out of space, couldn't finish my whole run down.

Very, very disappointed with this hotel stay. Most elevators throughout the resort were out of order including their main elevator for their Lighthouse Bar which was closed as a result. Food was very poor in buffet areas with lots of items missing like butter, black tea and when asked staff were not helpful and actually ignored us. Reservations at the two select restaurants were very difficult to get before 8:30 in the evening, if at all. Several lights were out in the bedroom. At $450 per night this is by no means a cheap hotel.

Anything nice, or “cool” wasn’t included. From Starbucks to bars, to cabanas. Everything was a members only space. The food at the restaurants were okay, but the buffet was awful. My husband got food poisoning from meat that was served. The bars had fruit flies and the beer coming from the tab tasted like it had never been cleaned. The staff were friendly, but everywhere you turned, they were trying to charge you for something. I would not recommend this to anyone, nor go back.

I had pre-arranged with the hotel for airport pickup and transportation but it took over 2 hours for them to actually come and get me. One driver arrived after 45 min but he was there to pick up another couple, despite having my name and confirmation on his phone. Check-in at the hotel was easy & efficient. I did not like the hard sales push after check-in, as we had been traveling all day and just wanted to get into our rooms. My room flooded the first night, with water coming in from the ceiling near the door and throughout the bathroom. I had about 2 inches of water in my room before I was finally moved to a new room. It was close to 11:30pm by the time I got to my new room. The hostess for the Mexican and Italian restaurants was rude. The first night she told us we must have a reservation, despite the restaurant only being half full. As we started to leave, she stopped us and told us she would seat us but insisted that tomorrow we would need a reservation. The second night we had a reservation but accidentally made it for the next night. She refused to seat us, but again as we started to leave, she agreed to seat us. The wait staff at breakfast was very reluctant to serve us mimosas. The pool bar on Sunday was out of Sparkling Wine and White wine. The hotel is great need of updating. Most of the staff were pleasant but the people working the bar were less than pleasant, throughout the hotel. The pool does not have enough chairs to support the volume of guests.

This resort is not even close to what it was from a quality perspective compared to a previous stay under different ownership. Non functioning elevators, general overall service and appearance to food quality. Also, 8 of the people in our oarty of 14 got extremely ill. We will not be back. different different
