Our stay was for three nights and we had breakfast and evening meals for the duration of our stay. The food was very good and the service of the food excellent despite it being busy when we visited. There are a good selection of drinks available. The prices are reasonable for the area. The location is ideal for walks and although we don't have a dog, the pub is dog friendly. The pub is located in the River Irt valley next to a camp site. It's a large pub with a bar, dining room and outside seating area with overhead shelters. There is ample parking. All of the staff are friendly and obliging.

Absolutely cracking hotel and bar. A beautiful little Inn in the middle of nowhere. Staff were fantastic... Food was great and the drinks were cold and well priced. Definitely worth a nights stay!!

Lovely pub.. only stayed one night but had a lovely relaxing evening accompanied by great food and drink. Breakfast was really nice too. Need a car as there’s not much in the area but a great base for walkers.

we only had one night but we have used this hotel before, easy check in very polite staff, nice room at front of hotel we had a meal in the bar which was very good and great service they stock a good range of drinks in the bar which we tried quite a few lol. loads of choice for breakfast. whats not to like we will return.

One hot breakfast cancelled as power cut expected and kitchen staff sent home (even though at time of 'cold' breakfast all was working). Room was in poor order, black mould on window blinds, bathroom state of repairs below standard, furnishings v.tired and floor worryingly 'soft' underfoot. Central heating not working (towels from morning as hung up were damp in evening) and cold at night. Understaffed. (those working were clearly over worked). Not what is expected at £140/night had to pay upfront and no reply to complaint emailed in, (no attendance for checkout), now 10 days passed since stay. Looking for a refund, but no response to emails. It used to be a great place but not now. I did wait for email reply to come before placing this rating however we feel ignored.

Absolutely charming little inn, great food, my room had everything I needed and more, including usb slots in the main plug socket, very useful. Really clean, nice and warm and the bed was so comfortable! Great stay, couldn’t ask for more

Staff seemed like they did not want to be their the first evening meal we had on the Sunday 6/7 was just about ok complained and some elements were not charged for it’s an old building so you expect some things not looking good here tho the older part of the building was tired cracked sink in our room . Carpets coming away at edges and on step up to room, you get the idea

We stayed here with our two dogs, one of which is terrified of fireworks, so this is a great place to get away from all the madness. We did the same last year too. It’s a lovely place, the staff are amazing, as is the food (and wine!). The rooms aren’t the most plush but they are perfectly adequate and extremely clean. There are great dog walks nearby. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Nice place to stay after a day exploring the area. Staff were generally nice and friendly. Bar had a lovely fire and the food was good. Room was as expected for a pub, you can see efforts have been made to make it a bit more modern but there was a bit of a musty smell. The main issue was our room had a lightbulb from the sign right outside of our window, so that even with the curtains shut it was really bright in the room. It meant we struggled to fall asleep as it really was very bright. A blackout blind would be much better

Our stay here was brief but I was happy to see that they were willing to serve dinner not long before closing. (There aren’t a lot of dining choices nearby.) It is an older property but everything functioned and was clean. Boot tray in the closet for wet boots was a good feature, although we lucked out with the weather. We also appreciated the bottled water. We enjoyed the cook-to-order breakfast and overall friendliness of the property. The view of the bridge and stream was outstanding.

This rather tired inn does the basics well. it’s clean enough and serves a basic but fulsome breakfast and offers a decent range of drinks and standard pub grub. The rooms are a bit tired but clean and comfortable. it’s about a 10 min drive to Wast water and a fantastic choice of Wainright hills.

Rooms are massive and even swapped my double bed for a king size without even asking me which I found so amazing and kind of them, also had full English breakfast which my plate came packed but was gone in 10 minutes, not a big eater in the morning but I can say my plate was empty, no loud noises and really friendly staff even let use take are drinks to rooms after hours which was great for use with having little one asleep in room💗💗💗will be back again

Just stayed one night, was given a room that is designed to accommodate wheelchair access, so spacious and with a big bathroom. Enjoyed the nachos with chilli, and the beef and ale pie which were excellent, as was the cooked breakfast. Good choice of local ales at the bar. All in all very comfortable and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

Stayed for new years. Fabulous bed, super comfy. The building is an old inn so there is a lot of noise but we kind of expected this. The food quality is tremendous. Would have been nice to have some entertainment or music to bring in the. We year. This is the only complaint

Had a great time here. English hospitality at it's best. Good food with a nice little Pub. Clean rooms. Only down side is they're all on the 2nd floor with narrow stairs up. Hard to get here, but that's not their fault. If you find yourself going thru this area, it's a good stay.

Great family room, dog friendly, huge breakfasts, tasty evening food. Only two minor things, when inn is full breakfast service was quite slow and the evening food was a bit pricey, but very tasty and good portions. It was a great stay and a lovely place to go walking from

Brilliant place to stay staff very nice and friendly nothing too much trouble. Our room was very comfortable and quaint. Would definitely recommend and would stay again. Thoroughly enjoyed our time here.

Service was awful. Staff were just plan outright rude. One response during breakfast, in response to when a customer said "excuse me" to the waiter, was "no, Ill speak to you later". I moved a cup at breakfast and the waiter said to me "I've had to replace that cup to you moved". Only one place comes to mind when describing The Bridge In. Fawlty Towers, and the waiter is like Basil.

Great ‘all-round’ stay really. My reason for this trip was to do some decent hiking & go up the famous Scafell Pike. Since I was travelling solo by train & foot it was a nice middle ground between coast & fells/mountains to rest & eat lovely food. Even more so every single member of staff were brilliant that’s it thankyou I will return :)

I would not recommend staying here if you have another option, as it is poorly managed. There is no management on site and on the first morning the downstairs area of the inn was locked up. The chef could not get into the kitchen and the guests could not get into the dining area. We waited for an hour before someone turned up with some keys and we finally got some breakfast. And no one even apologised or asked how our stay had been. I won't be coming back.

The pub is a lovely building in s good location. Unfortunately it was woefully understaffed. We had to wait for half an hour at reception to book in. My wife was told at the bar someone would be with us in 2 minutes. This was after waiting 20 mins. Ten minutes later, nothing. I told the bar man we would be leaving in 2 minutes and would want a refund. Someone appeared, no apology. We then had to queue 15 minutes to order food and drinks, so we doubled up on the drinks. It took an hour for the food to come. My wife enjoyed hers, mine was poor. The table next to us left 2 full cheesecakes because they were still frozen, i hope they didn't pay. Room was very small but clean. Breakfast was excellent. The pub is a lovely building in s good location. Unfortunately it was woefully understaffed. We had to wait for half an hour at reception to book in. My wife was told at the bar someone would be with us in 2 minutes. This was after waiting 20 mins. Ten minutes later, nothing. I told the bar man we would be leaving in 2 minutes and would want a refund. Someone appeared, no apology. We then had to queue 15 minutes to order food and drinks, so we doubled up on the drinks. It took an hour for the food to come. My wife enjoyed hers, mine was poor. The table next to us left 2 full cheesecakes because they were still frozen, i hope they didn't pay. Room was very small but clean. Breakfast was excellent. Nice place to stay. Coffee shop not far away and walkable - very nice. Need a car as narrow lanes to get to and no footpaths. Service at breakfast on the 1st morning was slow but that was due to the young girl serving. Not there when we arrived and waited 10 minutes before she appeared. Left dirty dishes on tables when she could have easily removed when bringing other dishes etc...She was friendly enough. 2nd morning, totally different service. Lady on duty was attentive and efficient. Nothing was too much trouble. Food is good, book a table as it is busy. Rooms were clean and spacious but feel they missed a trick with our room. Small corridor to the bathroom but no hooks to put coats on etc.. Would definitely stay again...

Our stay was comfortable, breakfast is amazing really fresh and the staff at the breakfast was very nice and friendly. The only criticism I have is for the bartender, the gentleman was quite rude and he did misbehave with a few other guest too. The body language and tone is very unwelcoming. We asked for a drink suggestion and he said I can’t as I don’t drink. We ignored that but in the second serving our drink was bit warm and we shared this concern we were told this is the right temperature it’s being served. We did not order drink for the first time and receiving such an abrupt and rude response was disappointing. I work in hospitality too and have never seen this anywhere. We never faced any issue as all the other staff members were really nice and warm except this gentleman. Overall value for money and nice and peaceful place. But someone needs to investigate this for sure.

Due to weather we had arrived late and missed the last orders for food. Went out of their way to direct us to nearest takeaway and even on return allowed us to eat in the bar area and even let us have some plates :) thanks so much for making us feel so welcome x

Friendly owner and staff , nothing was a problem for them . After a busy night in Blackpool we stopped here for the night on our way back to Edinburgh. We were looking for some peace and quiet and that’s exactly what we got in the most tranquil location. Check in was not until 4pm but we arrived around mid day for a bit lunch . Owner said it would be fine to book in around 2ish and gave us some ideas on what to look at in the area for a few hours. Soup of the day for lunch with home made bread was excellent and steak and ale pie for dinner was the best I’ve had and to wash it down with a pint of Lilly’s ruhbarb cider 🍺 . Breakfast is included with your stay and they had everything on offer and I mean everything. The full English is just what you need to get your day started. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay and we will definitely be back in the future ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Worked well for us. Older inn so some noise from adjoining rooms can be expected. Breakfast was very good and had 2 dinners there- both good, a step above pub food. Friendly staff. Great location for hiking in Eskdale area. Wifi was acceptable but not PW protected.

Lovely pub.. only stayed one night but had a lovely relaxing evening accompanied by great food and drink. Breakfast was really nice too. Need a car as there’s not much in the area but a great base for walkers.

One hot breakfast cancelled as power cut expected and kitchen staff sent home (even though at time of 'cold' breakfast all was working). Room was in poor order, black mould on window blinds, bathroom state of repairs below standard, furnishings v.tired and floor worryingly 'soft' underfoot. Central heating not working (towels from morning as hung up were damp in evening) and cold at night. Understaffed. (those working were clearly over worked). Not what is expected at £140/night had to pay upfront and no reply to complaint emailed in, (no attendance for checkout), now 10 days passed since stay. Looking for a refund, but no response to emails. It used to be a great place but not now. I did wait for email reply to come before placing this rating however we feel ignored.

Great family room, dog friendly, huge breakfasts, tasty evening food. Only two minor things, when inn is full breakfast service was quite slow and the evening food was a bit pricey, but very tasty and good portions. It was a great stay and a lovely place to go walking from

we only had one night but we have used this hotel before, easy check in very polite staff, nice room at front of hotel we had a meal in the bar which was very good and great service they stock a good range of drinks in the bar which we tried quite a few lol. loads of choice for breakfast. whats not to like we will return.

This rather tired inn does the basics well. it’s clean enough and serves a basic but fulsome breakfast and offers a decent range of drinks and standard pub grub. The rooms are a bit tired but clean and comfortable. it’s about a 10 min drive to Wast water and a fantastic choice of Wainright hills.

Quirky old inn with loads of character. Room was comfortable with a huge bed. Restaurant serves simple bar meals but well cooked and good portions. A pity because without the salt extravaganza it would have been perfect. I would have mentioned it if anyone had asked if everything was ok which is usual practice but didn't happen here. Small quibble but would return as everything else was enjoyable and the location is excellent.

This hotel hasnt been properly cleaned for a very long time . Be warned this is neither a couples or family enviroment. You said on your advertisement it was 16 mile from keswick it took over 4 hours to find it . It is very isolated the whole journey was a treacherous experience.As we are 73yr. olds i think a refund is in order we didnt even stay one night it was that bad.
