Castlecary House Hotel

We stayed one night on our family vacation, and wish all the hotels we stayed at had this much space. Our room had two bedrooms, and large family room, and gave us plenty of space after being in a car all day. There is a full restaurant & bar downstairs, and a varied menu. Food was very good. Staff were very friendly, and helpful.

Good hotel and decent restaurant at reasonable prices . Free parking . Big spacious rooms . A bit of off the Beaton track but was adequate for what I needed

I was staying in the local area as part of a Glasgow-Edinburgh Canal walking holiday. The hotel is about a mile or so from the towpath, but is well signposted and there is a footpath alongside the B road near the hotel. My room was comfortable and the staff were very friendly. I particularly liked the bar and restaurant, which was had a great vibe and the food was lovely. Thanks!

Parking was in dark, poorly lit area. Room carpet was dirty and needed replacing. No luggage stands. Toilet flush refill made so much noise that neighbor was complaining.

GOOD: Food in associated restaurant was good. BAD: 1: I thought I requested one accessible room, but your website was not clear. The hotel person i spoke with a few days before arrival said it was on ground floor and, if memory serves me correctly (perhaps?), that a wheel chair could roll into this room. However, there were two steps to get into the room, which proved VERY difficult for our 90 yr old relative. Furthermore, the shower had a step up of approx 10 inches, Disappointing! 2: On arrival, outside temp was ~ 15 degrees, and the rooms were about the same temp. Radiators were off, staff didn't seem to know how to switch them on. they did eventually switch on at night, but it's unnacceptable for a room charge of 125 pounds to have no way to heat the room - in Scotland! 3: Initially we could see only ONE bath towel, between three adults. We requested a couple more and were given one OK and one ripped, almost threadbare towel. 4: The curtains in both rooms appeared to be dirty, old with a few hangars off leaving gaps. 5: BRIGHT light outside the door we could not switch off. The dirty, worn out roller blind didn't cover the door window, so people could see in and we had virtually no sleep, as it seemed like it was daylight in the room. 6: The toilet seat in the pensioners room was loose and therefore a clear danger to a pensioner. 7: For 125 pounds i expected a phone 8: Plenty of cobwebs in both rooms. This hotel definitely not 4*, worse than a bothy.

The rooms need a makeover if you stayed in the outside rooms. We were in room 244 but after no tv working and dead/live bugs we were moved to 245. Cigarette butts outside our doors gross, carpet dirty, bed uncomfortable (springs dug in us) shower would not regulate so too hot to use. Blow dryer was old and taped up. Front staff were awesome and food at the restaurant was very nice. I’m sure rooms in the building itself might have been nicer. Pictures of hotel were very deceiving on hotels.com. Do not recommend.

I found it easy to park; the Receptionist was very pleasant and helpful; the bed was comfortable and the room was very clean. On the down side, I was in room 244 and I think that you could do more to make the wee patio area more attractive as it is a brilliant asset but very underdeveloped. Additionally the shower room needs attention as there's a poor standard of finish which could be easily sorted out when it's next vacant. Overall, a really great stay!

We stayed in the Hotel courtyard rooms which were very tired and in need of a refurb- window did not close properly -wardrobe doors falling off hinges -drainage smell in the bathroom- blinds on doors and windows need replacing however easy parking

I took the room only option. Check in was super friendly. The room was accessed directly from the road which left me uncomfortable. Windows were single glazed so plenty of noise from the nearby motorway. WiFi was poor and phone reception awful. Bed was super comfortable though and I did have a good night’s sleep.

Public areas are really nice, staff were excellent and food in the Cary Grill was excellent. Hotel slightly let down by aging condition of rooms. TV not working properly and bathroom shower was a challenge to operate and keep the shower head from continuously dropping off.

The hotel gave me a separate apartment. There was a lamp outside every apartment that stayed on all night. The curtains were very thin and poorly maintained. The room was bright all night, and I tried to figure out how to turn off the lamp until morning, but I couldn't. It was impossible to sleep in that brightness, and I woke up extremely tired.

The deluxe double room was beautiful! It was spacious, with four poster bed and seating area for two. The bathroom was enormous, with a large tub bath, seperate walk in shower and enclosed toilet within the room. It was modern and bright with high ceilings, overlooking the street at the front of the hotel, minutes from the M8 motorway. The room was really quiet and peaceful, even on a Friday night. Our only problem was the heat! It was very warm and we couldn't see a control for the heating. Overall, it was 5 star, not 3! Would recommend, and will probably return when we're in the central belt

Lovely overnight stay meeting friends for dinner. All staff, including reception, very friendly. Food was delicious, service quick, although we were given a heads up that a buzz party had booked in for dinner. Room comfortable.

Had a club room in the main building which was huge. Bed was really comfortable. Staff are always very friendly. Ate in the bar which was very good value for money and breakfast was spot on. I’ve stayed here a few times before and recommend getting a room in the main building rather than a courtyard room, if only for the WiFi!

We stayed here as a pit stop to Edinburgh Airport to see the Kelpies on the way. Lovely hotel, rooms were a great size. However we had a cup of tea in our room after a 4 hr journey and when we asked for more milk for the next morning we were refused! TV was very small for the size of the room, but other than that a comfortable stay.

Very noisy in the room due to parties till midnight, the music was too loud. The breakfast had not much variety, they removed all the breakfast items, before letting the customers know. They looked like they were in a hurry. Breakfast was from 8.00-10.00 and on sunday the breakfast items were removed at 9.30 I did not feel happy in this hotel and will not return

Easy to book, great location for my colleagues work location.

Payed a lot for this stay working away breakfast extra not in the hotel in a side block which was extremely noisy most of the night with traffic

Good location as just off motorway. Room nice and clean and warm. No issues.

Big room, friendly staff and good position for driving around the Central belt. The hotel is close to the M80 and gives easy access to Glasgow (30mins), Edinburgh (30mins), Stirling (25mins), Loch Lomond (1hour) and the Kelpies (15 mins). The room was large and the bed was comfy. However, the decor was a bit dated and it could do with a little updating. The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful and it was quiet in the evening. I would stay here again.

I booked this hotel as a last minute thing and was very impressed! The overall decor is really nice and the food in the restaurant was swift, tasty and well presented! I ate in there for two nights and would happily eat there again to explore the menu more.

We really enjoyed our stay. Everyone we dealt with was really nice. The restaurant is fantastic and I had the BEST burger there. Loved this place.

Very comfortable hotel, very friendly staff and spotlessly clean. An excellent base gor visiting the Kelpies, Falkirk wheel and Glasgow. Only one quibble was the breakfast. Not worth the money, in our opinion
