The elevator is out of service, so I had to take the stairs to the 4th floor every day. I also noticed inconsistent pricing at the bar—on one day, I was charged a certain amount for a drink, but on another day, I was charged more for the exact same drink. Breakfast was just okay. The coffee was lukewarm, and the breakfast burrito only had eggs and tortillas, even though the menu said it included potatoes. When I asked about it, I was told the potatoes were in the burrito, but they weren’t. On a positive note, the staff was good, and the room was clean.

Excellent location and walking distance to stores, restaurants and waterfront trail. We loved the courtyard where you can eat a meal. Breakfast at on-site restaurant was very good. The snack and beverage stations on every floor were great, too.

The elevator did not work, so we had to haul luggage up and down stairs. The staff was sorry, and realize this stuff happens. I think complimentary drink would have been a nice gesture. Also, fir the price of the hotel, it would be nice to have a coffee maker in the room

The decor and private garden were nice, as was the self-service pantry on the 2nd floor. The destination fee was a little annoying on top of the proxy room rate, as the credit for the bar was not useful for one member of our party who does not drink. Very convenient to Old Port.

A lovely hotel in the historic port area. Comfortable, clean and spacious rooms. A nice onsite restaurant with excellent food for diner and breakfast....shout our to our lovely server Halle! The area on each floor with refreshments and snacks that guests could help themselves to was a nice idea! The onsite valet parking was $45 per night which was a little steep as they actually parked the car off site....hopefully in a secure carpark?! Apart from that all was good.

The hotel is located in the heart of downtown Portland, right across from the Hyatt. It has an old charm, but the sheets and beds could use some improvement. We stayed during the off-season, so when we arrived, there was plenty of parking right in front of the entrance. However, valet parking was the only option at $45. If they offered self-parking for a reduced fee, it would be much better.

A $35 daily fee was recently imposed. Was not happy with that. Plus $40 per day for parking made our stay over $400 per day. Nice place, but excessive cost. It was our third and last stay at this hotel.

The first couple of nights the noise and music outside lasted til way past midnight making it difficult to sleep. The heavy weight of the room doors cause a huge slamming noise every time you go in and out. When neighbors are coming home all hours of the night, it literally jolts you out of bed! On our first morning there the one and ONLY elevator to the guest rooms broke and was never fixed our entire 4 day stay. All we got from the front desk was apologies for the inconvenience. Since our room was on the 4th floor we had to climb and descend 4 flights of stairs every time we came and went. It is literally ridiculous for a hotel of this stature to have only one accessible elevator to all guest floors. How does this meet code? Our bags had to be brought down on the “dumb waiter” the morning we left. For the price this hotel charges, you would expect a lot more. Next time we visit Portland we will find alternative lodging.

The building was beautiful and the room offered a nice enough view of the city. Some things that weren’t all that great, the bathroom was ehh the shower had a weird gray slim on it. It only covered the area the water didn’t hit. We used a hand towel to step on.The floors throughout our room were also super sticky. I noticed that the cleaners used a lint roller on the floors so maybe that’s what we felt. Lastly the bartender was pretentious and a bit rude. Other than that, valet was awesome the location was perfect walking distance from a lot of great places and the gym was small but nice equipment and very clean.

Hotel is beautiful and in a great location. Unfortunately, the room we were in had a constant buzzing sound, which made it impossible to sleep. The bathroom door did not close, and the bathroom light flickered on and off. I told the staff at the front desk, and all I got was “Thanks for telling us.”

The hotel is lovely and well located. Our room was spacious and quiet, with enough drawer space to unpack our things. There was a place on every floor that had coffee, drinks and fruit. We really enjoyed our stay there and would recommend it to others.

While the staff at the hotel is nice and attentive, the property needs a major renovation. Our “junior suite” felt old, one of the windows didn’t work and would not stay open, some plugs didn’t work, same as 2 of the lamps, the bathroom is dark and the furniture looks old and somewhat damaged. The mattress was ok but terrible pillows. The sofa bed was horrible. We decided to leave 1 day before even though we had paid for the night.

Whoever heard of paying $600+ per night for a room with AC control tied to two other rooms and with minimal setting range? Well, besides getting less than “warm” welcome, that’s what we got, and that’s why we checked out early. There are other more welcoming and waterfront venues available at better prices.

We were very disappointed that we were not warned about the night club right across from our room. We were on the top floor facing the city. After a very long day it was absolutely draining and frustrating trying to fall asleep listening to the most awful beats until 2 am. The hotel was fully booked and we could not be moved to the other side of the hotel, the garden view. Staff was well aware of this issue and tried to help by providing the fans to create a white noise effect. To top it off the AC unit was extremely loud and condenser made the loudest startling clicking noise. And the mini fridge was located right next to the side of the bed next to the top of the head, so you are literally hearing it all night long.

The staff and location was great! We enjoyed our cocktails/mocktails and apps at the bar. The TV was a huge pain to use. You have to sign into a google account to access the apps like Hulu that you still need to sign into. And you have to do that each day. The internet connection wasn’t great, so the tv would freeze. Overall it was fine, but I wouldn’t go back. I’d try somewhere else.

The shower is so small, it is difficult to turn around. The hotel itself shows signs of neglect. The elevator is streaked with dirt and could use to be cleaned. For the amount we paid, it was very unsatisfactory.

We were pleased with the neighborhood and our actual room. The staff member who checked us in seemed intoxicated and smelled strongly of alcohol. We were told we had a credit to use in the hotel but were charged and never received the credit. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. We enjoyed the historic neighborhood.

We visited for a long weekend to celebrate our anniversary. Everything was amazing. Staff was courteous and friendly. We ate at many of the areas fine dining establishments but had breakfast each day at the hotel and ended each night with drinks and dessert at the bar. We will definitely be back soon!

The property was fine. The staff was great. The problems that I had were all small but there were many of them. This hotel was not worth the price at all. They were short staffed (one server at the restaurant, one staff member on at night so it took a long time to get an extra blanket). The bed was extremely squeaky. My room keys were deactivated after the first night so we had to wait on key reactivation while in a hurry to get something quick from the room. The restaurant was extremely expensive but the food and service was that of a cheap hotel restaurant. The price I paid for two nights st this hotel was very very unreasonable and I would not spend the money to stay there again. $45/night to park in the hotel garage and that money does not even go to the valet staff.

Our rooms were on Cross street, On Friday night the nearby disco played so loudly that we and others we spoke with could not sleep until after they stopped at 1:00am. The hotel should openly warn people, this is not ‘City Noise’, which would be ok. It is a thoughtless selfish unnecessary specific venue or venues damaging the hotel and its clientele. Come on, guys.

Our rooms were on Cross street, On Friday night the nearby disco played so loudly that we and others we spoke with could not sleep until after they stopped at 1:00am. Unfortunately because I used Expedia they put us in a room that faced an alley that had a bar with music until 1 am every night. It was so loud it sounded like we were at a rave. The hotel staff told us they save these rooms for people who get their room from Expedia and offered us earplugs. Ridiculous!

Great beds and conveniently located. First night we were located near a bar/club where you could hear the bass until 1am but it seems there were enough complaints they toned it down subsequent nights. Great food and charming hotel overall

For time spent walking around the harbor area of Portland-this hotel is perfect. Note: valet parking is $45 but you do receive a notice in advance and compared to options close by and peace of mind that your car is secure is worth it. Also-a $35 resort fee but if you eat/drink on the property they will deduct the $35 (must order $35 or pay the difference). Great breakfast and wonderful lattes so easy to spend the $35 per room. Will definitely stay here again.

There is a $35.00 service charge per night, on top of the already inflated nightly rate. The restaurant on site is very expensive and the food is probably the worst I ever had in a hotel. The bed was hard and the pillows shrink to 2inches after laying on them at night. The property is clean and the staff were very nice/polite. A few improvements and this hotel could go back up to five stars.

A lovely hotel in the historic port area. Comfortable, clean and spacious rooms. A nice onsite restaurant with excellent food for diner and breakfast....shout our to our lovely server Halle! The area on each floor with refreshments and snacks that guests could help themselves to was a nice idea! The onsite valet parking was $45 per night which was a little steep as they actually parked the car off site....hopefully in a secure carpark?! Apart from that all was good.

We visited for a long weekend to celebrate our anniversary. Everything was amazing. Staff was courteous and friendly. We ate at many of the areas fine dining establishments but had breakfast each day at the hotel and ended each night with drinks and dessert at the bar. We will definitely be back soon!

The hotel is wonderful. They seemed very short on staff. Coffee and tea stations were sparsely stocked. Always out of coffee. The menu for dinner at the restaurant could be greatly improved and have a few more offerings. The breakfast staff was inexperienced and very understaffed. Other than that everything was great, as usual

Enjoyed our stay! The hotel is close to everything in old port. In fact, it’s walkable to the shops, restaurants, and sites in old port. Loved the pantry in every floor where water, seltzers, granola bars, cookies, pastries, candy, as well as tea and coffee are offered complimentary! The outdoor area has a fire pit and relaxing spots to chill and relax. We had breakfast there twice and the food offerings were really delicious though service was a bit slow. Overall, we would stay there again

Overall excellent stay at the Portland Harbor Hotel. Staff were amazing and always willing to help. The check-in process was very smooth and accommodating as they held our bags until our room was ready (which ended up being an hour before our check-in time). There was definitely some room to improve the overall appearance of the hotel - the elevator has seen better days, one of our knobs was falling off our dresser, the ice machine was practically falling apart in the common area of our 4th floor room. Also, there was literally zero ice available. I did ask an attendant and they kindly had two small bags put in the freezer but never saw ice in there again. PHH is one of the better hotels in Portland and for a time I believe the top one by far from what we there have told me. But it’s time for a bit of a refresh if you are going to charge higher than normal prices and be considered for one of the best hotels in Portland.

I have stayed before at the Portland Harbor Hotel-four years ago. We really enjoyed it then as it was clean and well maintained. Unfortunately, our experience this time was not the same. The hotel seemed worn, there was duct tape on the shower rod in my room-211, and the rope knobs on the side tables were stained from food or… Also, on this hot August summer weekend, the air condition in the bar/restaurant wasn’t working. We all had to sweat—including the bartender, Raylen, Fortunately, Raylen and the servers were all hard working and pleasant. At breakfast, we appreciated Shaylen, our waitress who had a great personality! Overall, this hotel needs some updates and upgrades! Ironically, they are adding on to this hotel—but, the management needs to focus on the current building. This is a hotel with a great location but for rooms costing over $500.00 a night—they must improve and do better!

We had a shower that leaked all the way out to the foyer. We called and reported it. They sent a repair person. They caulked around the edge which helped but didn’t fix the whole problem. It still leaked, just not as bad. No one followed up to see if it was fixed. They have a pantry on each floor with fruit infused water snacks, fresh fruit, cookies, canned sparkling water and ice for free. But it was mostly depleted most of the time we were there. There was a sign advertising live music at the front of the hotel. But when we asked where it was, the hotel attendant said they were not having live music after all. No one went to take the sign down. It was still there the next day. We checked out. Hope the musician showed up that night.
