Relax Inn Altoona

The hostess was pleasant, but the property was a bit rundown overall. We were placed in a room to the rear of the property and the ere was debris piled in the driveway and generally in a state of poor maintenance. Also the restaurant/bar was closed and obviously hadn't been in operation for a long time. The room itself was acceptable inside.

The gentle man at the front desk was very polite and welcoming. However, i have several issues with the relax inn. 1. This location states on Expedia that theres a bar/restaurant lounge on the premises. NOT TRUE! One of my main reasons for choosing this location was for the restaurant, so i could get my meals without further travel. 2. I needed ice and when i asked where i could get some fro., the lady at the front desk told me the ice machine was broken. So i had to drive down the street to get ice. 3. The room smelled of must. I took a can of microban 24 and ended up spraying 3/4 of the can in the room to get rid of the smell. I couldnt get rid of it all, it was clearly in the walls and carpets. I ended up getting sick from the smell. 4. I understand i requested a non smoking room, however, its a health problem and violation that this location has smoking rooms but there are NO SMOKE DETECTORS in the rooms! Huge violation! 5. The Relax inn offers a free breakfast. NOT! What i seen for the 2 days that i stayed was a pot of coffee that tasted like it was old coffee, the coffee flavoring they had, the bottles were disgustingly dirty. There were only 5 pastries put out each morning and they were all expired by a week. Another violation! The bread for toast i had noticed stayed out on the counter inside a plastic tray exposed to the elements of the air. I wouldnt of touched it! Thats all that was on the FREE BREAKFAST. Im not happy with this place at all.

Clean and quiet, bar is no longer open

The property was quiet. Very out dated. The add is very misleading with the pictures as they show a fully functioning inn. W/bar and other amenities. However the amenities were out of service. Room was falling apart.

Room was clean with several very nice upgrades. Would have enjoyed a coffee machine in the room. Breakfast offerings were limited. There was no availability of ice after normal hours. It was a good value for the price and the person on duty was very pleasant and helpful.

This place has so much potential, but it is majorly, rundown. We were greeted with peeling rotting, paint and wood on the exterior and stacks of mattresses sitting outside a seemingly unused portion of the motel. We enter the room, and when I went to move one of the bed pillows, there was actually a roach under it. The sheets and thin blanket appeared to be clean, however… A roach! The interior would work around doorways and doors was filthy and hadn’t been cleaned in months and months. I have pictures, but I cannot seem to download or attach the curtains were slashed with , something like a sharp tool or knife. Did not make for a relaxing sleep. I have no beef with this place and no reason to diss them. Obviously you get what you pay for, but when people can only afford this level, I still believe they should be given , a clean room, without bugs!

Three flat, old pillows Although washed, towels were stained an d worn Bottom sheet was covered with dirty grit and stained Jet tub dirty with dead skin and scum Possible "forensic evidence" on picture above bed (could be seen from across room when lights on) We slept on top of the clean stained towels on bed and got the hell out there as soon as we awakened the next morn. We understand that this was a smoking room, but it seemed more like a porn room.

The jacuzzi had dirty and stuff all through it. Garbage in the nighr stand. Bed was very loud. Can here the people beside you and all the vehicles.

Clean and quiet

This place is need of serious repair. Check in is average. This place needs to be at least clean if you offer this to public. Not sure how a place so dirty can exist in a post COVID world This needs to be held to some kind of acceptable standards and I think I should be refunded all the money it cost to sit in a chair and not be able to sleep..No other hotel was available thanks to Penn State game . STAY AWAY FROM THIS NASTY PLACE . Unless filth and disgust don't bother.GROSS

Rooms smelled of mildew; everything in poor condition; very old and dated; refrigerator and microwave breakers in all rooms were tripped, no soap in rooms; continental breakfast wasn’t ready at all at 630 as promised; breakers tripped like 15 times for waffles and rosters; one table with 2 chairs; unfortunately there were no other options close to Penn State for graduation; ONLY saving grace was TV worked and shower was hot and beds were okay; place needs a TOTALgut or demo and start over !!!!!

Inexpensive CLEAN place to stay. Will definitely stay again.

Pros: Clean and quiet, with frig and microwave. Room was adequate and priced well for one night’s sleep. Cons: There were supposedly 4 Wi-Fi networks for the complex, two within reach of our building, but the signal was to weak to be able to use it. King sized bed was comfortable for one out of two of us, but at least there was a comfortable upholstered chair to transfer to. Not the hotel’s fault, but we also had no phone signal in our room. Would probably use again if we needed to stay in the area.

The bed was very firm, the bathroom door didn't close, and the WiFi was very slow. But it beats sleeping outside in the car.

Room was clean, but is dated. Beds were thin/ firm but looks like they were in the process of replacing them. Overall not a bad stay, cheap & did the job for the night.

Owners were nice people

No one was in office i have a disabled daughter ans my mother in law we waired 45 mins no one answersled door or phone. We had to call local police to get a response for someone to let us in. Than we had a smokinf room the non one door key didn't work

Check in was smooth. Staff is super nice.

The india woman was rude. She only accepted credit card. I took all my money out of the bank except for hotel deposit. However, she refused cash. We end up staying at a bad hotel but they accepted cash. Awful!

The staff were friendly. The rooms were nice. Huge fridge and microwave came in handy. The bed was comfy

I didn't like how the person that worked for the property didn't try to help me at all when I had a reservation but couldn't make it due to unforseen circumstances. I put trip protection on but it did absolutely nothing to help me get my money back. That protection thing should be at least at noon, not at 9 in the morning.

Very nice and quiet inside and outside around the motel

Aging property, not well-maintained. Bathroom especially was a sore point with the shower patched together by tape and the bathtub drain plug snapped in half. Heating unit was confusing -- unresponsive to any kind of controls either on the unit or on the wall. I wanted to have the fan in "on" mode rather than "auto" to drown the disruptive noise from neighbors. However, that did not appear to be possible. Breakfast was minimal, including PB&J sandwich and a waffle maker. There was no drinking water other bottled water for purchase. Area around the hotel, especially before the biggest college football game of the season, was D-E-A-D. Had to drive a mile and a half to a pizza place to find other humans.

It was a clean and comfortable, no frills room. Pretty much exactly what you'd expect at the price point--a decent place to sleep for the night. Convenient to our purpose for being in the area, lots of great nearby dining options. My only real negative was that our non-smoking room was apparently adjacent to a smoking room, because, at times, the odor of cigarettes was strong.

Easy access from State College. Fair prices for game weekend.

Loved visit to Altoona. Beautiful view and quite clean accommodation.

Our brief stay was comfortable and the room was fine. Breakfast was minimal - there was literally 1 piece of bread out and a few packets of pastries. The yummy looking Welch's grape juice in the fridge had mold in it. The coffee was watery. Should advertise NO breakfast.

Overall our stay here was pretty good. We booked this motel for a somewhat last minute weekend trip and it was decently priced for what we got. The room was pretty clean and was what you expected for the price. The only somewhat negative thing I can think is that the room was stuffy when we got there, but after a few minutes of running the AC the stuffiness went away. Also maybe the walls could use a fresh coat of paint. Other than those two minor things, everything else was pretty great. The complimentary breakfast looked good too, but we were in a rush leaving so we didn’t have a chance to get something. The employees at the check in and check out were also very friendly and quick with their service.

Facility is old and run down. Room wasn't cleaned well if at all, fridge didn't work, and "breakfast" was crappy coffee and honey buns. It's a $60/night hotel charging far too much

I didn't feel the breakfast room was adequate for a family group. There was only one table and 2 chairs. The breakfast selection was very limited.

Advertized free breakfast. nothing ready when I went for coffe at 7:25 am. they made it then, and put some packaged cakes and cookies. Don't expect to eat there
