The room was very nice and clean, a bit warm but with the window open there was a nice breeze. The swimming pool is very nice, heated at the right temperature to be pleasant but not too hot for a swim. Thw building and garden are great.

Lovely hotel in beautiful grounds ,the negative is there are no resteraunt or bar facilities meaning you have to go out for food Wouldnt stay again because of that fact.

The room was lovely as were the grounds, but it would have been nice for lunch and/or lunch to be served in the dining room as the the other establishments were very expensive and quite up market making me feel a bit uncomfortable overall. The snacks and coffee room was a bit of a joke, a vending machine that was pretty much empty and a coffee machine that offered only 2 different types of coffee and hot water, not exactly welcoming. And nowhere did it state online or around the property that you have to pay extra to go swimming, i was happy to pay it but then noticed a sign saying no lone swimming, surely if you have a pool you should have a life gaurd as well?

The hotel has beautiful well maintained gardens and warm outdoor pool. Our room was excellent. Bed comfortable. Room and bathroom were clean and well maintained. I would definitely stay here again. Parking area at hotel was large and hotel is close to park and ride to go into Cambridge

Loved my stay there, it is a beautiful property with stunning grounds and reasonabley priced for each night. The only let down was the breakfast, we didnt think it was worth the money and it was cold. Apart from vending machines there isnt any other way to get food and drink.

Lovely place to stay, the rooms and grounds are fabulous, a little disappointed there wasnt a bar with comfy seating to relax in after check in... and although it was stated in small print that check in doesnt open until 4pm its actually the whole hotel doesnt open until 4pm which is rather inconvenient if you arrive early after a long drive...that being said bed linen pillows and duvet all really luxurious so definately recommend for a good nights sleep. With regards to the £5 parking fee we had to search around for a member of staff to try to pay this and after finding the only member of staff around (the chef Darren) and him making 2 telephone calls to no avail he concluded our parking fee was included in our room rate?...strange set up but overall a lovely nights stay

The hotel and grounds are nice, the receptionist was welcoming and professional, location is good for the park and ride into Cambridgeshire, however there are some improvements that should be made: - The room did not have net curtains at the window and I do not appreciate being looked in on by people using the gardens!! - Not all of the appliances in the room had portable appliance test stickers on them, therefore are not compliant. - The loose glass tops on the furniture in the room are a hazard! I caught myself on the sharp corner of one! - The charges for parking (£5 per night!) and swimming (£5 per person, per day!!) should be clear on the hotel description, I only found it by scrolling down the information on the hotel’s own website, not on Expedia!! - The pool was not clean and the gate has staples sticking out which I caught my hand on!!

Room was clean, bed was huge. Perfect stay with a dog as the door opened up onto the grass. The fields for dog walking were amazing and went on and on. Highly recommend, would definitely stay again.

This place is delightful and really good value for money. The rooms are lovely and spotlessly clean. It is peaceful and rural and yet 2 mins from the park and ride which is 5 mins into the centre of Cambridge. It is a delightful place. Would recommend highly for a relaxing quiet stay so near to the city. We are very regular guests due to son being at university. Breakfast at Coton Orchard is lovely and 1 min drive away.

The room needed an armchair there was nowhere to sit. The duvet was thin and smelt. There was a stain on the box base of the bed. The mattress was uncomfortable and very soft and high. The shower had black moult in the corners. There was only one towel. There was no herb tea.

The Hotel and the grounds looked amazing, unfortunately that’s where it ended, on arrival at reception we was kind of greeted, filled out a form and told where our room: was, no details about the facilities breakfast or anything’ the room whilst nice was small, dated but in the main clean. The bathroom needed some attention, with obvious mould around the windows. The view over the garden was nice but you could sense that perhaps there was no care given to the surroundings. The bed was ok creaky and only one pillow each, same with the bathroom one towel each and one towel for that could’ve been as a bath matt or face towel. In all it felt that there was a lot of potential but left feeling very flat, There didn’t seem any interest in customer service, other hotels we’ve stayed at have been welcoming and pleasant no matter the length of stay, and someone available at all hours. Here the reception was manned from 4pm-10pm, just made it feel very impersonal. Finally keep an eye on the ‘security deposit’ never paid this on a hotel stay before and wasn’t mentioned on arrival, £50 which is taken from your account, so make sure you know before you book.

Liked our ground floor rooms in the chalet. Traffic noise with windows open but hotel has convenient location next to M11! Clean comfortable, good value for money. Didn't eat at hotel. Check in friendly and efficient. Was concerned about previous reviews but our experience (2 rooms) was fine. Deposit promptly returned too.

I stayed in room 14 A room was nice only downside was the rafter in the roof very low very low on the window side of the it wasn’t until i smacked my head of it did I see the small notice on it. Rafter could do with highlighting probably paint it a different colour. Apart from having a sore head for four days I enjoyed my stay lovely and quiet

We were given a room with a bath, which was brilliant, however there was a fire door just outside our room which banged loudly all night. The walls were thin and you could hear people talking and moving about in their room.

Good value for Cambridge, if you're willing to take the bus into the centre. I stayed in the annex, which I had assumed would be more modern, but was actually very worn and dated, with poor (internal) sound insulation, and highly perfumed smells. The (double) room (11B, 12B, 13B and 14B are all the same size) was cramped. The main light fitting and (bathroom) heated towel rail were excessively dusty. The heated towel rail was broken, and a clear electrical safety hazard - it was off, but the switch appeared to be in a public hallway. Oddly, there was a (locked) door from the hallway into the en-suite bathroom. A minor complaint is that there was a Bible in the room. The location does get a fair amount of noise from the M11, but it isn't an issue with the windows closed. You do hear everything in adjacent rooms though.

Pleasing manor-house style property. Lovely and extensive grounds. The room (a suite) was large and well-appointed, with triple aspect views over carpark to the front and gardens to side and rear. When you book you are warned no soaps provided, so we brought our own, as well as towels and pillow, for our own comfort. Didn't eat at hotel so cannot comment. Hosts - interesting.

The annex room was clean and comfortable but had no sound proofing, the neighbour thought it was ok to start making and taking business calls at 5.10 am onwards disturbing all of the other guests, not the hotels fault but they might consider putting some ear plugs in guests rooms.

My room was on the top floor of the main house. Pretty small but OK. The only real problem was that the room was roasting hot, no aircon and the windows barely open so there was no way to cool the room down.

The Hotel and the grounds looked amazing, unfortunately that’s where it ended, on arrival at reception we was kind of greeted, filled out a form and told where our room: was, no details about the facilities breakfast or anything’ the room whilst nice was small, dated but in the main clean. The bathroom needed some attention, with obvious mould around the windows. The view over the garden was nice but you could sense that perhaps there was no care given to the surroundings. The bed was ok creaky and only one pillow each, same with the bathroom one towel each and one towel for that could’ve been as a bath matt or face towel. In all it felt that there was a lot of potential but left feeling very flat, There didn’t seem any interest in customer service, other hotels we’ve stayed at have been welcoming and pleasant no matter the length of stay, and someone available at all hours. Here the reception was manned from 4pm-10pm, just made it feel very impersonal. Property is a quiet and reasonable location and was reasonably straightforward to book and out remotely. The lack of any human interaction at the premises means if you do have questions you may find it hard to gain an answer quickly and the names of all guests on envelopes outside i am certainly not sure is a good idea. Overall its reasonably priced, clean and offers value for money for what is provided.

December 2024 - checking in is ‘after hours’ friendly so if you arrive early for day tripping in Cambridge you can park at the location and return to book in and collect keys later. Staff on site at time of review are on till 23:00. There is a system for later checkin. Parking and location secure. Rooms are bursting with character. Think 1920’s ‘Hercule Poirot’ panache. Heating goes off after midnight but under the covers it isn’t a problem. Bath / showers are excellent. A great location. Particularly if you want something other than the usual ‘rotating doors’ chain style faceless corporate thing - and are working to your own schedule and no one else’s. I’ll be staying again.

We were really pleasantly surprised with our stay at Rectory Farm. Bit of a faff with check in as the email went to junk mail but was able to figure it out after a quick call to the hotel. Our room was in the main house and afforded a beautiful outlook over neighbouring fields. Bed was really comfortable and the decor charming, in-keeping with the style of the house. The shower was hot and powerful enough. We enjoyed a hearty full buffet breakfast the next morning which was well worth £16 a head. We opted to grab Ubers to and from Cambridge which were just under £10 each way. Absolute bargain and no wait time at all. This was a last minute visit to coincide with a Stansted pick up and we were delighted with our choice. The price point is fantastic and I would certainly stay again on my next visit. I am well travelled and five star city centre luxury is my go to but no complaints for Rectory Farm whatsoever. It does the job very nicely and a stroll around the beautiful gardens was the perfect end to our first Cambridge trip. Thank you!

However, the check-in procedure was very confusing, with multiple emails and having to download an app, which I couldn't find a link for. The property was unattended for staff, and when we found a number to phone someone, they weren't able to explain what we had to do to get access to the hotel and our room.

This hotel is good value for its proximity to central Cambridge, the rooms are clean and comfortable. The shower was a good size and powerful. It’s very limited in terms of reception staff, they are only there at occasional times, but we knew that already as we had stayed before. The check in time was confusing because the Rectory Farm app said it was 3pm but when we got there the sign said no check in until 4pm, so we then had to hang about for an hour. The only other thing that would have made our stay more comfortable would be easier access to cold drinking water in the main house: it was a very hot couple of days, the water from the bathroom tap was lukewarm and the only place to get a cold drink was the vending machine in the other building/annexe. There are no fridges in the rooms. I would still say it’s good value for money though, compared with the city centre hotels, and we had no trouble getting taxis when we were going out for the evenings.

Not a great experience to be honest. Arrived to find no functioning reception, having to search for staff to even speak to. We arrived 3h early to our check in time - were told we would have to pay extra if we wanted to leave our bags at the hotel (WOW). No air conditioning making the place LITERALLY like a sauna on not even the hottest day this season. When asked for refreshment options we were directed to a tiny room with a vending machine and an automatic coffee machine - pay contactless, prices like for a barrista-made coffee. When asked to use a toilet, we had to wait for them to fetch us the key to the toilet! Like anyone who wasn't a guest would stop there looking for a toilet... The room - not terribly clean, needed to first kill the spiders and remember to bring all your toiletries cause there's nothing there. Again no aircon - the fan in the room didn't manage to cool it down at all all night. Breakfast buffet - things in the 'heated' metal dishes (eggs/tomatoes,etc.) were all cold. We were told we can order eggs (pouched/fried) from the kitchen so we did... Never arrived as they forgot our order and the kitchen closed. Horrible service and poor accommodation. Don't get tricked by the beautiful pictures!

Liked our ground floor rooms in the chalet. Traffic noise with windows open but hotel has convenient location next to M11! Clean comfortable, good value for money. Didn't eat at hotel. Check in friendly and efficient. Was concerned about previous reviews but our experience (2 rooms) was fine. Deposit promptly returned too.

The hotel has beautiful well maintained gardens and warm outdoor pool. Our room was excellent. Bed comfortable. Room and bathroom were clean and well maintained. I would definitely stay here again. Parking area at hotel was large and hotel is close to park and ride to go into Cambridge

Room compact but had all amenities we required, our room located on left side of chalet building kept cool all day out of the midday sun. We've stayed here a few times No problems with staff members all accommodating booking taxis etc, easy check in / out. 10mins walk to Park & ride catch bus into Cambridge.

We loved our stay beautiful room and property's. So convient to walk to a pub that serves lovely food. And also so conveniently jst by the local park and ride so we were able to park car at hotel and jst bus into center and no worry about parking else where. Wlll certainly be back.

Very convenient location, close to M11 (5 min drive) and Park and Ride (10 min walk) but noise wasn't an issue as it was constant in the back ground, almost white noise. Rooms good, clean and with a bit of character. Grounds of the house lovely with avenue of trees to drive up to the building, and walk clearly signposted to local pub (20 mins walk, mainly through fields and woodland). Very pleasant stay.

Rectory Farm is set in a stunning location, in the middle of beautiful rolling countryside, yet easy to reach from Cambridge (we did a combination of cycling and public transport). Although Rectory Farm does not have breakfast facilities, they offer recommendations nearby. We opted for the Caton Orchard Garden Centre, and loved it. The room (we had the Superior King) was comfortable and the bathroom spacious and clean. The overall atmosphere was that of a luxurious old-world stay. As for where they lost points, in our opinion: - no bicycle storage, guests are expected to leave their bikes exposed to the elements - the coffee/tea facilities are basic, in this day and age business may want to consider offering non dairy milk options (they comes in sachets, just like dairy and with no fridge facilities, one cannot bring their own) and maybe 2-3 different options of tea. This is just a small observation. - we put some of the decorative pillows on top of the wardrobe, but when we took them down at the end of our stay, they were very dusty (the top of the wardrobe had not been cleaned). Other than this, lovely place to stay, would be curious to go back during the summer to make the most of the outdoor space!

The room was clean and spacious but decor was looking a little tired. The hotel and grounds were beautiful. Breakfast was well cooked with plenty of choice but luke warm, which is why we havent put excellent, £16 pp seems a little excessive. Lovely hotel, pleasant staff but room for improvement. Shame you had to pay £5 parking fee too.

Beautiful grounds & Room. It’s a perfect place to stay. Re evening meal this is from local pubs in the area. From quaint local country pubs (20 min walk) or a pizza / restaurants in a new very posh housing complex (10 mins). Sainsbury’s also in complex too. I’ll be staying again.

Loved my stay there, it is a beautiful property with stunning grounds and reasonabley priced for each night. The only let down was the breakfast, we didnt think it was worth the money and it was cold. Apart from vending machines there isnt any other way to get food and drink.

Very pretty grounds and property. Easily accessible from the M11 but back from the road so feels peaceful and quiet. Quick and simple check in, and clean rooms. We booked the advised nearby Three Horsehoes for dinner (with a discount for guests!) and Coton Orchard for breakfast, which were both the perfect complements to this quick country escape. When I had trouble with the gate (my error, not the gate's!), a staff member answered my call quickly and patiently. All around a great stay

A 10 minute walk to Park and Ride to get a bus to city centre of Cambridge.. 7 £‘S return for two people. Self check in. Quiet. No food as advertised and coffee machine was out of order although you could have coffee and tea in room. Lovely view over the field with horses. Two nice towels but no hand towels or flannels. Decent shower with good water pressure. Room not large but adequate. Bed decently comfortable. Cotton sheets which is always a plus.. not polyester!! Small bar of soap and bring your own shampoo and conditioner as well as shower gel! Ironing board and Iron in room. Clean. Would stay again!

Set up for weddings but perfectly suitable for a short break in Cambridge. Easy access to Cambridge with good local amenities. Rooms were well kept with good en-suites. Enjoyed being able to run local footpaths through woods.

This place is a haven.. so close to Cambridge. The pool was too cold for me but my son had a blast and spent a very enjoyable hour watching him. Came away feeling like I had been on holiday. Make sure you visit the garden centre round the corner for breakfast it is awesome. Great for gifts too

Rooms were compact but clean, gardens were lovely and there was an exceptionally well signposted footpath led to the local pub. The pool was quaint, basic but quite pretty. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location to the park and ride meant it was extremely easy to get into Central Cambridge.
