Gallus Stadium Park Inn, an Ascend Collection Hotel

This place is a dump. Elevator was not working. The building smells. During check, a roach ran across the lobby floor. During check in the desk clerk couldn’t open the room doors. The hotel looks very unsafe and dirty. After being at the hotels for only 15mins, I canceled my stay. The pictures provided on hotels.com definitely misrepresent the real conditions of the hotel.

This hotel is very dated. The decor is bad and the hallways are dark, and elevator didn't work. The toilet didn't flush and the woman on the front desk was so rude at check in, I figured we would live with it for one night. It is also on a train track where you will get woken up to a honking horn periodically. This a very overpriced hotel and I would give it a miss.

The area was really well maintained. The biggest problem was parking was very limited and some of the extra parking spaces were tight squeezes.

Where do I begin. I checked out early just because of how disgusting and uncomfortable this place was. First, the parking is extremely limited, if you have to park in the back of the building it is dark, dirty, trash everywhere, and a very tight fit to get back to the road. I went to check in and they told me that they only have a room on the 3rd floor and the elevator was broken. I asked to see the room before bringing up my stuff and I’m glad that I did. The room was dirty and smelled awful. Stained floors and sheets, cracking walls and ceilings and a hole behind the door. The next room they put me in was just as bad but the smell wasn’t as strong... until the next day when I guess a sewage pipe busted. The smell was unbearable. The hallways had trash bags lining the hall and you could hear everything from everyone’s room. If I could give this place negative stars, I would.

Unfortunately the elevator was out and I just had surgery on my foot so I had to go up 2 flights of stairs. Then when I got to the room there was no remote for the tv. However it was clean and the bed was nice

Near stadium and could be a great spot. Elevator broken, floors, walls, towels and bedding very stained and dirty. First room had not been cleaned and had to changed rooms. The curtain was broken in that one and floor and walls were disgusting. Paid way too much for this but stayed because family weekend & nowhere else to go.Trash just piled outside back door. Broken furniture & trash all in the back. Doors & keycards kept not working. Staff was super nice and tried. It needs a major update but could be great.

Not a pleasant experience. Management let their children sell parking spaces to people attending a nearby football game. Guest's cars were blocked and could not leave the property until 11 pm. Missed my dinner plans with my granddaughter. This was inexcusable on the part of the management.

It’s was average. I only stayed one night. But, What seem like two prostitutes came into the building as I was checking in, The elevator was broken, and doors were open to rooms that were filthy. But, at 90.00 I guess you get what you pay for!

Mattress cover and mattress pad had MANY stains. Dead bug on chair. Hair in bathroom. Holes in walls in multiple areas not patched. Elevator on the way up took VERY long. elevator certificate said inspected in 2020.

I had a dead baby roach in the bathroom and the ceiling in the shower looked like it was about to fall down and on the other end of the shower the paint was peeling

Dirty. Roaches. Shower wouldn’t drain. Cold cereal breakfast. Waffle cooker broken. Duck tape holding up shades desperately needed painting. Desk people nice.

The pictures of the hotel on the website are NOT truthful. The surrounding area is not a nice area. They have roaches. I asked for bug spray and they gave me bed bug spray. So they have bed bugs as well. 5 ft away from the front desk is a bench the starts out wide then narrows. There's a stand that has 3 cereal dispenser and across from the table is a toaster. That's where you get your so called breakfast. Just gross! You have to see it. The carpet in the room is dark green and stained. There's no way that carpet should be still on the floor. There was a lamp with no light bulbs. The closet was two long thin shelves covered by a window curtain. Before I pulled back the curtain I thought it was a window, NOT! I was sitting at the end of the bed talking on my phone when a roach crawled up the wall. I went downstairs to let the staff know but they weren't surprised. I asked for two large plastic bags to put my suitcase and belongings in. I was giving the hotel the benefit of the doubt that just maybe the roach was brought in by a guest. I got the bags and asked for bug spray. They gave me bedbug spray as previously stated. I went back to my room wrapped my stuff and sprayed. I didn't see any bed bugs but that doesn't mean they weren't there. After I wrapped everything I wanted to take a shower. I went in the bathroom and turned on the shower. As soon as I stepped away from the glass there was another roach. I said that's it and proceeded to find another hotel and checked out!

DO NOT STAY HERE. DIRTIEST HOTEL I HAVE EVER STAYED IN. No top sheets on bed. When I asked for sheets at the front desk, they pulled them from a plastic bag on a chair and the ones they gave us were stained and had human hair on them. The carpet was layer upon layer of dirt and stains. There were bugs on the sheets, the shower, and a small roach crawled under the door to the room. The smell in the room was terrible and made me cough - if the air conditioner filters had been tested I'm sure they're full of mold. We decided to leave immediately and when we requested a refund, the person at the front desk handed me a document with my name and address on what appeared to be a refund statement but that the "refund" amount was bogus - the amount was wrong and the card ending number was not a current or past card of mine. This could be considered fraudulent behavior.

We were dissatisfied with the whole stay, from checking in to having to leave early due to not feeling safe at this property. There were stains on the bed sheets and pillows, dirty forks on the floor, used facial soap in the bathroom, mold on the shower, black elastic rubber bands on the floor, and the lock barely locked. They also tried to charge our card 10 separate times since checking out at midnight lastnight. Prompting my bank to call me for fraud charges. I highly would not recommend this hotel to anyone, visiting or not.

Location is good to go to a football game but our room was dirty, the bathroom was particularly bad. Shower was nasty, and had no water pressure. AC unit was held together with duct tape. Workers were nice but our room was never cleaned.

Upon checking in the elevator and hallway smelled like weed. Then we open the door to our room, there was a cockroach in plain sight and another on the door. People a few doors down were checking out for the same exact reason. Filthy! If I could give it zero stars I would. Please don’t waste your time like we did. We had driven four hours, a family member wasn’t feeling well, it was 10:30 at night snd we were exhausted, having to load the car back up and find another hotel at that hour was exhausting, but worth it in the long run. I called Expedia the next day, they were super helpful, bc the front desk said we never checked out. I put my keys on the counter in front of the guy at the front desk, and said we are not staying here, he saw us leave with all our bags. They tried saying we couldn’t get a refund bc we “never checked out” crooks. They did refund us, thanks to Expedia. I am glad I booked through Expedia bc I don’t think we would have gotten a refund otherwise.

The window A/C unit was filled with debris and mold. The curtain was broken and didn’t shut. The freight train comes through right next to the hotel every 3hours with horns. There were people above use that sounded like they were moving the dresser across the room. It’s a 45$ a night room in my opinion.

Room was dirty and needed repairs. I don't think surfaces were wiped down from previous guests. We saw a few German cockroaches. Desk staff was super friendly and sweet.

Staff was very friendly. About a 20 min walk to William Brice Stadium. Carpet was sticky. Shower had very low water pressure. Mini fridge did not work. They changed our room and the toilet did work. Changed to another room and that toilet didn’t work either. Put us back in original room and moved a working fridge in. In all 3 rooms AC cover was broken and duct taped on.

The pictures posted are deceiving, looks different. The shower didn’t even have a shower door and near the baseboards had holes. We got there looked at the room and decided not to stay.

first there were no towels in my room, which they had to switch because the TV and phone did not work, after giving me another room that room did not have heat working , and the phone did not work, for the dollar amount that they charged me , what I expected and what I got was terrible. I was charged 211.68. I will never go there again.

The room was generally clean and the bed was fine. The room was pretty run down otherwise with the door scraping the floor, shower head hanging down, no bulbs in two of the light fixtures, etc. It was much cheaper than other hotels in the area but needs some attention.

The window curtain was missing. Room was brightly lit all night from the lights just outside out window. It was like headlights in your face.

Check in was not friendly and on a personal phone call the entire time. Shades had been replaced by a sheet while 1/3 of the window remained uncovered. The broken shade was just laying on the floor.

The room was a 2, the shower water pressure was so low it felt like taking a shower in the rain. You also have to "request" that they clean your room. The breakfast options are cofffee or old cereal. It smelled of old socks throughout the Inn. Also the air conditioner face was on the floor. I was scared to touch it in case it stopped working. The staff spoke but weren't very friendly. I learned trying to save a buck on accommodations is not worth the buck you save. Its a thumbs down for me.

Tv only had 1 channel, air conditioner fought to cool room, one of my towels was dirty when unfolded, small roaches, door lock battery dead, had to complain to everyone who worked there to get battery changed.

First off…I want to start by saying the receptionist was amazing! If it wasn’t for her (Tiara)….we probably would have chosen to find a different hotel. We came for a Carolina game and chose this hotel due to location and walking distance to the stadium. The first room that we had smelled of cigarettes. We decided to not make a big deal of it since we were just there to sleep after the game and wouldn’t be spending a lot of time there. When we got back from the game and went to go to bed…we realized the AC and tv were not working. We did get moved to another room…which had a working tv and ac unit… it came with its own other set of problems. The bathroom door was off the hinges and you had to lift the door up to close the bathroom door. There was a hole in the wall of the bathroom wall where there should have been a toilet paper holder. The “blind” was very thin letting in tons of light and the blackout curtains wouldn’t shut. Overall, the hotel was run down. There was an ac unit in the front “lobby” that was dripping and had a bucket underneath it to catch the water and Paint chipping off the walls. Staff was friendly but never again will I stay there. The convenience of the walk to William’s Bruce stadium was not worth it. I would rather take my chances with traffic.

Customer service was great

The staff is responsive. The location is great for football games. I would not describe it as luxurious, but since I was solo, it was sufficient for my needs.

Room was clean and pretty newly remodeled. Front desk staff were fantastic. Air conditioning worked great. Would definitely stay again.

Horrible service. We waited over 5 min for someone to come to the front desk. Disgusting hotel. No elevator. Wanted to charge for parking even though website says free parking. Room was ready at 1:00 but we had to pay $30 for early check in. Back exit door would not open. Was told to push hard on it.

Staff was friendly , helpful and on point . Hotel is very very dated but what you would expect from a hotel that is walking distance to the stadium. Not a place I would stay for normal travel but great place to stay for game days due to location and again , great staff!!

If I Could Give This Place Negative Stars, I Would. Where do I even begin? Let’s start with Nick, the night staff member who clearly missed his calling as a prison guard. From the moment we walked in, he looked at us like we had just interrupted his sacred duty of doing absolutely nothing. No greeting. No smile. Just a face full of irritation like we had personally ruined his evening by daring to check in to the hotel we PAID for. But wait—it gets worse. When we had to come back and dispute a charge for a room we never even checked into, Nick didn’t just brush us off—he yelled at us. Loud, rude, and completely out of line. It was shocking, rude, and downright unprofessional. If you’re looking for customer service, go literally anywhere else. Now let’s talk about the hotel itself. The photos online must be from another planet—or at least another decade—because the place looks NOTHING like what’s advertised. It’s located in a sketchy area where you’ll want to keep your doors locked at all times. Bonus points for those of you who bring extra door locks to put on. The parking lot is a disaster, uneven and poorly lit, and I wouldn’t be surprised if roaches were planning their own family reunion out there. Inside? It smelled like ten cans of bounce that a** marinated in mildew and disappointment. The AC barely worked, the shower had no door (seriously?), and the floor felt like it hadn’t been cleaned since 2000. The WiFi Completely useless.

The stay was terrible, first we got there the receptionist at the front desk didn’t know anything.i booked two rooms for two nights the room I was staying toilet nor tv worked at all, asked the receptionist to switch rooms we did then the second room wasn’t any better so I just asked for a refund for the 2nd room and for the 2nd night we checked in at 2 a.m. and checked out from the hotel at 5 a.m. then the gentleman at the front desk argued about it with my aunt thinking we were asking to be refunded for both rooms and both nights when I shut had said that one room and one night, service was horrible receptionist was horrible just terrible try to avoid that hotel at all cost!!!!!!

AVOID - The carpet hasn’t been vacuumed, dirty used washcloths left in the bathroom from previous people, the TP holder that had been torn off the wall, refrigerator that flat out didn’t work, there was only a transparent roll down shade on the window that didn’t block any light, especially from the double street lamp outside. Unfriendly hotel staff and otherwise fairly dilapidated hotel. The pictures must’ve been taken after it had been remodeled, but there’s been no upkeep since. It’s an unpolished turd.

The staff is responsive. The location is great for football games. I would not describe it as luxurious, but since I was solo, it was sufficient for my needs.

Property is close to Williams Brice stadium. Staff was great. The property is right beside train tracks and trains run at 4:00 am daily. Not much around the stadium and our room was clean but toilet had issues.

This is an older property that could use a little cosmetic love, but the staff is extremely friendly and helpful! The property was just what we needed and was very affordable for a USC football weekend. This made a potentially very expensive weekend much more affordable, and, therefore, more enjoyable and stress free. Also, conveniently located near Williams-Brice Stadium.

Convenient to stadium and quiet

Needed a cheap place to stay for a last minute trip and this "hotel" fit the bill. I don't know the exact definition of hotel anymore. I suppose it just means that the door to the room is inside the building instead of outside. The room was clean and the beds comfortable enough. WiFi worked so I was able to get some work done. Staff were friendly. The building itself has seen better days but doesn't look that old honestly. Breakfast was supposed to be included, but nothing was put out and there was no notice from the staff. Later I was told "the truck never arrived." Odd. Coffee maker in the room also didn't work. Location is good for USC football games but is in an industrial-warehouse area. Train tracks are right next door and they blow their horns all night. Road traffic is very loud.

I appreciated that it was located within walking distance to Williams-Bruce Stadium.

Perfect place to stay for the Sooners at the Gamecocks. Walked to the stadium from the hotel.

My daughter and I pulled up and it was clearly not a safe place for us to stay. People loitering outside, dirty, and absolutely nothing like the photos on Expedia. We left immediately and booked another hotel in the area. I have never "eaten" the cost of a hotel before without going in but this was the right choice.

The location is great

They said the breakfast is 6-10 I don’t see any breakfast no space at that area I see 4 people at the property and just one be nice

Overall enjoyed my short stay here, the room was cool for sleeping in a cozy bed and the shower was hot, I had everything I needed including a refrigerator. Staff at the front was friendly, had a limited selection for breakfast, but it included coffee; sugar and 2% milk so I was happy.

Photos online are deceiving. However to be fare it was only 140 for the night with breakfast. That’s another subject. The room wreaked of cigarette smoke and weed. Staff was very friendly. We only stayed one night. I couldn’t imagine staying longer. I’m pretty sure breakfast was frozen and heated up. Waffles from a toaster sausage. Coffee was good.

Very good price on a basic yet clean and comfortable room. The continental breakfast was horrible though. They had no bowls for cereal, and the cups they gave me would not fit under the dispenser. No water either- wanted you to buy it in a bottle for $2. There was only a banana, apple and three types of cereals with just milk and OJ which was stored (hidden) on the back wall of the room. The staff was not cooperative to put out or refresh the items. This would be a 9 for the value but their morning lack of caring rates this place a 5. I did have a good experience with the check-in staff when my own mistake caused some reservation problems they helped me switch.

There is nothing amazing about this hotel except it's location. The room door barely closed, breakfast was yogurt and cereals, my air conditioner was louder than the tv. This is basically just a roof..

Mold in shower and elsewhere. Had to request towels and soap upon check in even then did not get wash clothes. Breakfast? A joke. Only had yogurt and waffles available and coffee was terrible. Have stayed here every year but each year it gets worse. Will not return

Trying to find a hotel in Columbia for under $125 gave us only one option. There were bags of trash in the hallway, barely enough towels, lights didn’t work, water damage on the ceiling & wall, fixtures pulling out of the drywall & the “breakfast” area in the lobby was disgusting. Lesson learned. Spend the extra money & stay on the nice side of the railroad tracks.
