Room was very clean, comfortable and good size. En-suite shower room was small sink was very small however v clean. Parking was easy and free. The pub is set in a lovely pot, has outdoor seating and oldey worldy feel to it. Check-in was a bit frantic, but the female member of staff was warm, welcoming and polite. She was very attentive and took my drink and meal order within a short time. Breakfast time, felt a bit rushed as they only serve from 8-9am, so wasn't really leisurely. Stairs have no bannister which might be a problem fo some people with mobility issues. Local information is on the 1st floor area and not in rooms. Wi-fi worked well which for me was good for work purposes.

Had a lovely few days at the Abbey Inn. Really friendly staff and a lovely room. Located next to an idyllic looking stream with a bar downstairs and great looking food. Breakfast was great, lots of choice and all well cooked. A few minutes walk from the beautiful Buckfast Abbey and a few minutes drive from the quaint shops in Buckfastleigh. Happy to recommend

Easy to find, easy to park, quick simple check in and friendly staff. Not a large room but adequate, clean and bright. Food was served in the dinining room by lovely staff who were very helpful. Local to Buckfast Abbey which is about 10 minutes away on foot. Thank you all

The staff were wonderful, and the location can't be beat. We unwound each night with a half-pint on the beautiful terrace that is set along the riverbank. The building is a lovely old hodge-podge of levels. We were at the top of it, which involves a stairs-climb that could be hard for some. There is ample parking (very welcome!). It's at the edge of the village, which meant it was a short, pleasant walk to find country lanes for an evening's stroll. We enjoyed our stay thoroughly, and would be happy to stay here again, if we get back to Dorset!

The building is a lovely old hodge-podge of levels. We were at the top of it, which involves a stairs-climb that could be hard for some. There is ample parking (very welcome!). It's at the edge of the village, which meant it was a short, pleasant walk to find country lanes for an evening's stroll. We enjoyed our stay thoroughly, and would be happy to stay here again, if we get back to Dorset!

lovely spot next to River dart with great outside seating, even covered area if it rains. Good beer and friendly staff, only problem was the dining room is VERY dark and the lights do little to help-almost asked for candles! i had a whole plaice -tricky to see the bones! Road outside could be an issue for light sleepers -windows open in summer heat. Ask for river side room-but you will hear running water then! Would definitely stay again.

Lovely traditional inn handily just off a main transport artery. We had dinner and breakfast at the Inn and it was very good. The option to eat outside overlooking the river was a nice bonus. All the staff we dealt with were excellent. The one drawback was the spring mattress which I found to be too soft. Overall a lovely stay.

Lovely few days stay in the main Dart room overlooking the River Dart, amazing views. Room was cosey with everything you need, four poster bed, large tv, shower ensuite & tea/coffee, hairdryer. Breakfast was a menu choice of cooked options, etc. also had several evenings eating in the pub restaurant, small perfect menu food was excellent. Again with views of the river Dart. All staff were friendly & helpful. We enjoyed our stay.

The Inn is located next to a main road so rooms at the front will experience road noise and no view of note. The evening meal was OK and staff were polite and helpful. At breakfast we were offered raspberry yoghurts, both were off and not edible. The waitress apologised but said they could not be replaced as they had non left! The bacon was thin and sadly overcooked. Our room was clean and generally well presented, although the en-suite was very small. The Abbey Inn is no doubt an old building and this must limit the ability of the owners to offer modern building services and appeal. Work and decoration has been carried out but old buildings have limitations unless large sums of money are spent or invested.

Nice hotel, but they had two birthday parties Acheson the night we stayed that didn’t end till after 11pm. Even after the parties needed the noise from other rooms kept me awake till way after midnight.

Stayed 2 nights this week with my husband for a belated anniversary trip. Our room was large, clean and comfortable, with a lovely river view. The breakfast and evening meal were superb. We also enjoyed the quiz on Thursday night. The attentive staff and excellent service complemented a relaxing and enjoyable visit. We would happily stay there again and we will be highly recommending The Abbey Inn to all. Thank you!

Staff great and friendly, excellent breakfast as usual, but toast dropped from breakfast this time? Informed bar was closing at 10pm half an hour before, and hotel bar would be locked up, big disappointment, after all we go away, to have a few drinks,not to have to go to your room or stay outside after 10pm! Unfortunately wont be going again purely for this reason! pity as we liked it here!

Warm and clean, adequate for one night. I paid extra for breakfast, but was told breakfast does not start until 8:30am and I had to leave the hotel at 7:30am. Unfortunately when I left the property the door to the hotel/bar/pub eating area where breakfast is served was locked. So paying for breakfast was a waste of money! Not great service....
Warm and clean, adequate for one night. I paid extra for breakfast, but was told breakfast does not start until 8:30am and I had to leave the hotel at 7:30am. Lovely traditional inn handily just off a main transport artery. We had dinner and breakfast at the Inn and it was very good. The option to eat outside overlooking the river was a nice bonus. All the staff we dealt with were excellent. The one drawback was the spring mattress which I found to be too soft. Overall a lovely stay.

Had a lovely few days at the Abbey Inn. Really friendly staff and a lovely room. Located next to an idyllic looking stream with a bar downstairs and great looking food. Breakfast was great, lots of choice and all well cooked. A few minutes walk from the beautiful Buckfast Abbey and a few minutes drive from the quaint shops in Buckfastleigh. Happy to recommend

The Inn is located next to a main road so rooms at the front will experience road noise and no view of note. The evening meal was OK and staff were polite and helpful. At breakfast we were offered raspberry yoghurts, both were off and not edible. The waitress apologised but said they could not be replaced as they had non left! The bacon was thin and sadly overcooked. Our room was clean and generally well presented, although the en-suite was very small. The Abbey Inn is no doubt an old building and this must limit the ability of the owners to offer modern building services and appeal. Work and decoration has been carried out but old buildings have limitations unless large sums of money are spent or invested.

The staff were wonderful, and the location can't be beat. We unwound each night with a half-pint on the beautiful terrace that is set along the riverbank. The building is a lovely old hodge-podge of levels. We were at the top of it, which involves a stairs-climb that could be hard for some. There is ample parking (very welcome!). It's at the edge of the village, which meant it was a short, pleasant walk to find country lanes for an evening's stroll. We enjoyed our stay thoroughly, and would be happy to stay here again, if we get back to Dorset!

We thoroughly enjoyed a 3 night stay at the Abbey Inn. Room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was very good and staff excellent and very friendly. One minor issue we had was immediately resolved. It is in a beautiful location overlooking the river. There are good transport links to other towns with a bus stop close to the pub. Easy walk to Buckfastleigh and catch a train which goes to Totnes where you can connect to the main line stations.Plenty to do in the area. Thoroughly recommend.

Had two different St Austell beers first night and Devon red cider second night to compliment my meals . Both evening meals were excellent as were the breakfasts both mornings. Staff very helpful. Room clean with double bed and en suite wc and shower.

Beautiful setting to stay in looking out onto the river! The staff were very friendly and helpful, the pub is stylishly decorated inside, the rooms were nice too. The food was the highlight! The steak pie and the beef burger were really good, and the full English breakfast delicious too! We will definitely be staying again.

We had a lovely one night stay at the abbey Inn... Very friendly host... as it was our anniversary they had even decorated the table for us for our evening meal.!! Very clean, but very quirky especially the room, but that's part of the charm of staying in an inn.... Amazing setting right on the River dart with seating outside to have a pint or two. A temporarily limited menu but still a very good choice which was very tasty and very reasonably priced. The room itself was clean and tidy, the bed was shall we say was very bouncy and a very soft mattress, however slept well. We have stayed there several times before and we will do so again. 10 minute walk to buckfast abbey and another 15 to 20 minutes walk into town. Breakfast choices and quality was excellent!!

Property was tired looking,and dark in the ground floor resturant. We learnt it was between owners. Being updated in Jan 2025. Limited menu in evening resturant was disappointing, As it was our wedding anniversary.during our 3 night stay.thought we would eat in.that evening. Burgers and chips was not what we envisaged. Room was nice and clean, Kingfisher. Breakfast staff was sociable with everyone. Food hot.

Photo was misleading for a normal double bed, but comfortable room. Evening food very disappointing with only Pizza available which was overcooked as were the cheesy chips which by no means were gooey and unctious, However, beer was amazing. Breakfast as always was outstanding as was the chef that served breakfast.

Large room overlooking the River Dart, spacious, warm and comfortable. En suite a bit on the small side but shower warm and efficient. Staff friendly and food very good, with breakfast cooked to order. Plenty of parking and old building has character.

Nice hotel, but they had two birthday parties Acheson the night we stayed that didn’t end till after 11pm. Even after the parties needed the noise from other rooms kept me awake till way after midnight.
