Hotel Aqua Mar

There was no internet last night or this morning until 10 am.

Check in was fine but surprised with a $10 charge to park on the hotel property. Absolute moral killer to get hit with the charge knowing full well I was already committed to paying for the room. Its a cheap move and I will never stay there again. Penny wise and Pound Foolish strategy.

Just average. Last minute booking. Took awhile for the guy to come to the front desk at check in (arrived at 10pm). Beds not super comfy. Extra for parking is a little silly. You get what you pay for. It’s ok for the price.

TV did not work on arrival. Took hours to repair. No ice available.

If you need a hotel near the airport and close to the boat docks this hotel is a great option. Something I did not like was that you had to pay to park per day in the parking lot of a hotel you purchased.

The room is clean & small, but it smell moldy. The beds are comfortable. The fridge and microwave are helpful. Parking is $10/night extra.

Rooms have been remodeled in last couple of years decently. Room was clean and better than a motel 6 or something on that level. The location is good. That being said, the property lacks certain simple amenities like ice and the tv didn't turn off/on or volume work without unplugging it from the wall. My biggest issue was that I booked initially for one night less than needed. I called Expedia (because the website would not let me adjust the booking) that night and they could not help. I called the hotel and they reassured me adding a night was not a problem. They would not give me a confirmation number. I called back a week before the trip and got the same spiel, it was all good, they had entered a note in their system and I was good for the additional night. When we got to the hotel, I was told I did not have the room and there was no note. Eventually, after I explained it 5 times, the desk person looked at the computer and decided I could stay in that room. On the day before I was supposed to leave, I got a call from the hotel saying my stuff was still in the room and when was I going to come get it. I again, had to explain multiple times that I had talked to someone on at least 4 occasions about this and was told we would be fine. Eventually, they said ok, we will give you another night. That being said, the hotel lobby was not open when I checked out at 9am and I dropped the key. I have not received any invoice and I do not know whether they charged me more or how much.

Thought it is a no frils hotel, they do very well at making you feel welcomed. If I had any issue, it will be that they may benefit from an ice machine and or a soda vending machine. Other than this it is a great hotel to stay in a budget. Good Job and thanks.

Great little hotel. Definitely i would come back again. Clean and comfortable room.

This place is not well kept. We booked 4 nights and didn't even stay one. TV was broken, mold everywhere, sheets we're not clean, bathroom barely functioned, and the room was tiny.

Do not stay at this location! The first room they put us in (#208), was dirty and very small. The window did not lock and had shards of glass in the window tracking from a previous break in! (Extreme Safety Issue). When we were assigned another room (#103), it was the same story. The room had not been cleaned, the floor was filthy, the deadbolt on the door did not match up causing us to place the refrigerator in front of the door as an added safety measure. The bathroom was filthy. They did not provide any wash clothes, and the one face cloth they did provide had hair on it. The toilet seat had an unidentified stain on the rim, the back toilet cover was cracked, the sink had hair in it and the faucet handles were covered in muck and handprints. The shower had pubic hair in it and a piece of broken glass right on the floor outside of the shower. Mind you, this piece of glass was thick, like the kind that we saw in the window track at the previous room (#208), leading us to believe that this room had also been broken into. Due to the level of health and safety concerns, we decided to take the hit for the cost of the hotel and checked into the Comfort Inn across the street, which by the way is a great place to stay. Finally, the guy at the front desk didn't give a care in the world stating that he was unaware of the issues which I find hard to believe. Horrible customer service, and most of all, it did not feel safe! Huge health and safety violations!

It was very close to the airport and Liberty Station, lots of dining places nearby that is walkable, liquor store and Winchell's donuts right across street. Very convenient spot. Room was clean and inviting. Upon checking in, Dave was polite and very helpful. This was the first time staying here. Price was very reasonable and I will definitely stay here again when in the area.

The rooms suck. Rooms are very small. The tv sucked didn’t work rite. Everything is old and out dated and the rooms have a smell to them

This was a very last minute stay. It was late at night when we arrived so it took some effort to find someone to open up the lobby. The room was nothing special. Small but clean and good for one night. Bed frame was loud tho.

My room shared a door with the lobby which made me uncomfortable as a female traveling alone. I could clearly hear the front desk having conversations on the phone.

Hotel Aqua Mar was okay. I did appreciate them calling to ask what time I would be checking in, in which showed they were expecting me. However, the room was more on the smaller side. We stayed in a two queen room. We were a little snug for my family of 4.

My stay at Hotel Aqua Mar was good. It was cleaner and in better condition than I anticipated. It is definitely not a luxury hotel, but it provided all the amenities you would need such as a mini-fridge, coffee maker. It is close to the harbor which is nice. The bed wasn't very comfortable, but I have slept on worse. The room is on a main street, so the morning is a bit noisy. The hotel is good for the value. I will stay here again.

A very utilitarian small room for one person. Clean and comfortable. Hotel is very close to busy streets and has a lot of road noise

There are gaps in the doors and thin walls. Which makes it loud in the room, additionally there is a smell in the room, similar to a mop that was left out overnight without cleaning it

The pictures on orbits make this place look very nice. It’s basically a slightly cleaner super eight motel. It’s more expensive than a super eight motel, but if you put this place next to a super eight motel, you’re not going to see much of a difference. The bed was hard as a rock, the road is right next to the rooms and was very loud all night and all morning. The room was clean, the towels and shower were clean.

Office not open, room not ready.

Check-in was not a good experience and the staff had apparently given our room to someone else. The room they then gave us was on the first floor and we were up all night because of an altercation outside our door with a man yelling and a young woman crying. There was no hotel staff to assist. We did not feel safe and found a different hotel in the morning. I have traveled a lot and all over the world and this was one of the worst stay experiences I have had.

Great Customer Service at front desk

This hotel was very clean and close to many restaurants. Thanks to Rawnak, the guy at the front desk, who was very diligent in finding a room for us when we arrived because our room wasn’t ready. He was very attentive and nice.

The management was absolutely awesome. After Hotels.com screwed up my reservation, they flew through hoops to help me and a very tired traveler has a safe place to stay.

LOVE LOVE LOVE! I read some poor reviews and I don't have any idea about that! I was treated with ABSOLUTE respect and dignity at all times! The rooms are very clean! I had a coffee maker, fridge and microwave in my room! All functioned perfectly! There was a desk and chair, if i needed to do work or not, but it was right next to the bed, perfectly placed! I have traveled to many cities, as a flight attendant. I am now disabled, and my service dog was with me, and every accommodation was made for us! The front desk staff and housekeeping were top notch! Im sorry that now everyone will know how FANTASTIC this hotel is! I highly recommend this hotel!!

ABSOLUTE HEAVEN!!, I am so impressed with every single thing that this hotel has to offer! I had read some reviews, and i wasnt so sure, but i mean it is great! And as an ex Flight Attendant, I have stayed in so many hotels, all over the world. Hotel Aqua Mar is certainly now my "go to" while im in Southern California! I am now disabled, and every accommodation was made for me. My service dog was welcomed with open arms, the managers at the desk were ever so nice! Jamal went out of his way to be sure i had everything i needed. The housekeeping and maintenance staff were also very kind and friendly. Microwave, fridge, coffee maker, all in my room! Loved it so much, i extended my stay!

Left at 1 am to go work.came back at 5 and realized I left my key in the room. There was no staff available to let me back in my room. I ended up sleeping in my car.

Hotel is convenient to San Diego airport and was good for cheap overnight after missing my flight. Rooms could be better soundproofed - I hears periodic street noise as well as some guests shuffling around late and early in the morning.

It is easy access to the airport and affordability for 1 night stay.

It is close to all the sights

It's a great location for getting to Shelter Island or Point Loma/beaches. The street it's on is a traffic nightmare. There's a coffee shop right next door, which is nice. The room is what you'd expect for the price. It seemed clean except there was a weird burnt piece of plastic on the bathroom floor. I couldnt wait to leave in the morning, but it's fine if you just need a bed for the night.

Cute hotel and great places to walk to, parking is a little hard to navigate.

Location was great. Delicious coffee shop right across the street. The harbor with lots of really good restaurants, all walkable. The hotel was easy and convenient!

If you are looking for a place to sleep, this is it! Clean, nice bed, partly updated bathroom, easy check in and check out! Walking distance to airport and harbor.
