I did not like that we had to pay for parking and there was hardly ever any parking close available that was close to the hotel. Also, the beds were uncomfortable and it was just not a great experience. The parking situation is the reason I will not start at The Caravelle again. Hotel is run down and I cannot believe they charged for parking.

The who place smells like old mold. The indoor pool, sun deck, and hot tubs were all closed and we were not advised on check in. Also they asked for more money on check in for parking even though it stated it was free. They also asked for a retainer fee in case we break something. The bathroom door had water damage and did not work. The halls on every floor including the pools smelled of urine and mold.

Had to wait total of 2 hours just for them to locate my reservation because they were not familiar with their new checkin in software. The desk clerks were very unprofessional and rude to multiple guests while I waited in line watching, including my wife and I. The our rooms floor had not been cleaned. The hallways were full of trash the whole evening and night of stay. The pool in our building (caravelle tower) hadn’t been cleaned in days. I skimmed it some myself. This is the second time I’ve stayed at this resort in 3 months. The hot tub was out of order still. Not a good experience at all.

Nice property. Rooms could be updated though. A few lightbulbs needed changed. Outlets needed updated. Bathrooms needed updated. Headboard on one of beds needed fixed. Overall pretty clean Pools were really nice.

The outside pool and beach area was great. The indoor pool was out of service the whole time. My wife and kid didn’t feel safe going out the room at night because the hallway was so dark and it wasn’t safe for them

The best part was the lovely nice lady that recently took over/purchased the gift shop. She exchanged money for quarters so I & others could do laundry because the machines weren’t working in the laundry room. Most the amenities that the resort advertised were under construction or out of order. Over all it was ok (besides the gift shop) wasn’t told I had to pay for parking. I will give it a second try

Frustrating that neither of the on site bars were open past 9. Smoking at the pool right next to the sign that said no smoking. RJ’s not open for lunch. Weed smoking somewhere on the balcony. Tried to make us pay an extreme damage deposit when we were told no deposit is required. Elevators were atrocious. Way too small and not enough for the size of the hotel. No air conditioning in it either. Kitchen sink had no water pressure. It came out at a trickle. But the shower and bathroom sink had wonderful water pressure. Didn’t make any sense. Air conditioning in the room barely worked.

This place is absolutely GROSS. We had to move rooms due to the filth. The management is unprofessional. I will NEVER stay here again. The room we moved to was clean thank goodness. However we had to wait 6 hours to get a new room. When you call the manager places you on hold and hangs up. Hotels.com can’t reach anyone to verify the issues we had. I’m adding pics of the filth in the first room we had before the move. . If you book here (which I don’t recommend at all) check your bed, the couch, and your air conditioning unit. Be careful staying here. It’s HORRIFIC.

The room is terrible, stinks, moldy, everything is old, not working. There are cockroaches in the room, the tiles are electric, the refrigerator did not work, we had to throw away all the food. Booked with two double beds, there was 1 bed and 1 sofa with a terrible mattress, the springs of which pressed against the whole body. It was impossible to sleep. There are only 2 chairs at the dining table in the room for 4 people. And in general, the room is for 2 people, but not for 4. When I laid out the sofa, there was no room to go to the balcony. No one cleans, they called the reception and asked to take out the trash and clean it, no one even came to do it. They took out the garbage themselves. On the territory, the buildings are terrible, there are mountains of garbage on the floors near the elevators, which are not taken away for several days, accordingly, there is a stench and huge cockroaches! We went to the manager several times, but there was no reaction, he said to call and find out with Expedia, since we booked through this site. We called and wrote to Expedia, and for a week they didn't decide anything, we only hear apologies and that's all. Therefore, we do not recommend choosing this hotel at all, and also booking through the Expedia website! Because if problems and questions arise, no one will help you! Our room was infested with Roaches!!! Big ones small ones babies it was terrible room had not been cleaned at all!! This place truly needs to be shut down immediately it is certainly a health hazard. We took videos and pictures showed staff and they were not surprised the were not concerned so there is no telling how long this place has been operating at these standards! Scale of 1-10 I would say a -100 DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

The room was ok, mostly clean, ac and tv worked, but....... the property in general was just dirty. It started with the constant septic odor seeping up thru the corridors and parking deck entrance. Even smelt it in the pool area a few times. This hotel needs a lot of renovation in the common areas and I mean a lot. The rates are not exactly cheap and expected more. There are so many areas that need painting and reworked due to age as much as anything. Our room door got stuck wide open the last night and this was after not being able to shut it all the way each night without slamming the hell out of it. One of the elevators was broken most of our stay and ended up using the stairs. Even the elevators were old and dirty and I didn't want to use them anyway. I'd pay the extra money to stay in a nicer place. The property is being managed in the cheapest way possible and it shows...... but that pretty much describes Myrtle Beach anyway.

Team was super friendly, price was very fair, area was quiet, room was spacious. Unit had soap from previous person, popcorn on the floor, a metal key on the counter, and the towels looked like they had been refolded. It was a bit unnerving.

I didn't like the fact that we had cockroaches in our room and reported it to a young lady she's supposed to get back with me and she never did so I had to talk to the manager later on that day and so they wanted me to get with Expedia to handle the situation

This place is bad. When we arrived the toilet was running,it took 2 hours for someone to come and still did not fix it. There was hair in the sink. Let's not forget the ROACHES. I killed a total of 4. I do not recommend!

This was, by far, the nastiest hotel I have ever walked into! We checked in, walked into our room, immediately walked back out, checked out, and we stayed at a different hotel down the road. This place has not been remodeled in YEARS, we saw roaches on the floor, stains on everything, the AC did not work, and the room smelled like mildew! My wife and I paid good money to stay here for our three day vacation, and even though we didn’t actually stay, neither the hotel or Expedia would refund our money or offer ANY compensation for our awful experience! In the end, we paid for two hotel rooms while on vacation, and only used one of them! Thankfully, the hotel we actually stayed at, was great! Expedia is the worst the website to book anything through, fortunately for us, there are plenty of competitors to choose from, and their competition will be our “go to” website for booking hotels in the future! that but We booked and paid for two more nights at a different hotel! I will never use Expedia again, PERIOD!

I’ve been here twice, once as a guest of a friend and this time with family. On the reservation selection there will be three location, caravelle resort, caravelle tower and St Clermente. Pay attention which one you select, the resort is a nicer building, good wifi, and cleaner room. St Clemente was the lower class building, everything is smaller and no wifi (they say there is wifi but it doesn’t connect). Besides that, both buildings are in great locations with amazing views of the beach. MAKE SURE YOU SELECT THE RIGHT BUILDING.
I’ve been here twice, once as a guest of a friend and this time with family. On the reservation selection there will be three location, caravelle resort, caravelle tower and St Clermente. Pay attention which one you select, the resort is a nicer building, good wifi, and cleaner room. The place was quiet low season but the tv had low quality cable channels, the volume didn't work on half of them, one baking pan, no ice in the hotel except for the restaurant and that was only open for breakfast. Oh, and there was one overworked woman doing it all. The room was privately owned from what the front desk told me.

Unit is very old and need urgent renovation! It was somewhat clean but the sofa, carpet and especially mattress need urgent replacement, for the money you can find better and newer accommodations elsewhere.

We have stayed here a total of 6 tines now. This time was off season but was still nice enough outside. The property is very dated as far as looks. We ALWAYS book the oceanfront double. The rooms are surprisingly nice and always super clean and the view is perfect. The elevators are never all fully functioning, so have patience. Its just an elevator,there are more than 1! It definitely needs updated esthetically but i truly love this extremely affordable resort. You wont be disappointed. Just dont have 5 star expectations and youll love this place.

We ordered a king ocean view suite and when we arrived to check in they gave us our key and directed us to a building that was not ocean front. The room was old, dated and smelled so bad. It had 2 queens and a pull-out couch. Not anything like the pictures online. The balcony was so small you couldn't sit on it and it had a regular door not a slider. The view was far from ocean view!! We saw palm trees and little to no ocean. Will not rent from again.

I’ll start with the good: our room was clean. Everything else was terrible. We traveled with another family and were promised condos next to each other when we booked, yet when we checked in they didn’t even put us on the same floor. Every surface of this place is filled with disgusting grime. I was nauseous looking at the elevator doors and walls. The carpets in the hallway floors were gross. The vending machines were grimy. The staff was terrible. There was a nice front desk person one night, but everyone else was rude. A staff member brought me some towels and yelled at me for putting my dirty towels on the floor. Check in took over an hour because the two people checking in guests repeatedly disappeared to the back for long lengths of time. If you need pool towels you have walk across the street and then wait in line to get them from the front desk. So give yourself a good hour. The blow dryer smelled like it was going to explode in my hand. We heard zapping coming from our kitchen area at night. The ACs leak from upper balconies onto lower balconies. The elevators take forever. There may be one luggage cart in the whole place for everyone to share. The bartender served a non-guest so much alcohol that when the cops were called because he was being creepy to young girls he tried to run to the ocean screaming “I’m swimming to China” and my kids got to see what it looks like when someone gets tased by 5 cops.

I already wrote a Google review because of how atrocious this experience was. I get there and they have no record of my reservation. Then they tried to put me in a different building far away from the pool and beach access when I booked a room with pool and beach view. I parked over there and got a parking ticket because there was no parking. Finally got that sorted after being in the lobby an hour. Found an additional $23 charge on my card and was told it was for parking after I already paid for parking and got a parking ticket. We finally get to our room and the toilet doesn’t flush. I called maintenance and front desk repeatedly from the room phone and my phone. Left a message and never got a call back. I called literally every day multiple times a day. We had to use the toilet by the pool instead of the one in our own room. The room was lovely but would’ve been nice if we had a working toilet or someone had answered our calls to send someone to fix it. For how much we paid for our stay, we definitely expected a lot more— or very least A TOILET

Staff were not friendly at all. The room was suppose to have queen befs and had double beds. Bed frames sounded like they were about to fall apart and i told maintenance about that and supervisor at the front desk no on ever came by to fix the issue. Blanket on bed was dirty and i told front desk about and was brought new sheets not blankets. Check in was an issue. The room i book which showed available on Caravelle’s site i was told was not available and i had to upgrade even though it showed available on their site. I never could get in touch with housekeeping to come by for trash pick up or exchange linens, i had to go to the front desk and get them myself. One our last day there someone in housekeeping busted in the room while i was asleep didn't even or announce herself, she just walked in there. Security stayed around the pool meanwhile people where yelling and arguing on our floor and no security came by and you could smell weed everywhere which was disappointing because my 11 year could not go out on the balcony at times because the smell was strong. The only good thing about this place was the pool and the ocean. We will never stay here again. Other guest were complaining about the same exact things. Very sad because i felt the staff didn’t care that people were not happy

The desk clerks were very unprofessional and rude to multiple guests while I waited in line watching, including my wife and I. The our rooms floor had not been cleaned. The hallways were full of trash the whole evening and night of stay. The pool in our building (caravelle tower) hadn’t been cleaned in days. I skimmed it some myself. This is the second time I’ve stayed at this resort in 3 months. The hot tub was out of order still. Not a good experience at all.

Great stay friendly staff. I gave a 4 star because my car was hit and there are no cameras in the overflow garage other than at the ramp on the first floor from what I was told so no way to know who hit my car leaving me with the bill!!!! My insurance is high enough due to the type of car I have it’s not cheap!!! So I chose to pay for it out of pocket… get cameras what if someone is robbed or killed! Ok other than that it was a amazing experience. I do want to apologize if I got a attitude with the gentleman at the front desk my challenger is my baby and finding out there was no camera I wasn’t happy. There was one specific employee who was housekeeping he was from Jamaica I didn’t get his name extremely polite and kind. The lady who checked me in was also polite. The room was great and there’s plenty to do. Very nice view of the ocean. We extended our stay and the lady at the front desk was very helpful. Thank you. We will return with cameras installed in the car to supervise it .

Shakira had above and beyond customer service. Our experience with Darren at front desk was a bit unprofessional, and original room booked was not pleasing and smelled of smoke. Shakira fixed everything for us and was definitely nice to work with someone with excellent customer service. Elevators need some work, they were busy, one wasn't working and the ones for ocean access were not working effectively, but over all nice stay.

As a previous guest, I was disappointed in the quality of customer service. Upon check in I was given the wrong room and when I told the desk, she tried to tell me I was wrong. We booked a one bedroom suite in St.Cements but was given a single room with two full size beds at Caravelle . After some back and forth I was finally told I could move the next day. Huge pain to move all of our stuff again. After we moved, the tv in the bedroom had no cable. Called for maintenance that never showed up even after going in the office and speaking with the manager the next day. While in the lobby, another guy checking in was told the same thing about his room when he tried to tell them that’s not what he booked. The overall quality of the rooms are nice and clean. The housekeeping staff was great. You can’t beat the Santa Maria for breakfast but the front desk staff needs to get it together. The overall attitude is tense when checking in especially if you’ve traveled all day to get there.

Beach front, balcony, room is clean, easy access to beach, great pool area including a lazy river and kids splash area. Parking garage is too small to navigate easily, but do-able. Away from center of the Strand, but close enough to easily enjoy. Great choice for family. Enjoyed my stay !

We loved the location so close to the beach!! The room size was just fine for our stay! Our biggest complaint is just cleanliness. Yes we are told we could contact staff right away and then t would have been fixed immediately but when you arrive excited to take in the sights you do not always look at the cleanliness right away.

Hotel property was okay… for the price you pay.Very reasonable for 6 nights. Ocean front room did not disappoint, view at night and morning were spectacular. All and all we enjoyed our stay very much.

The suite, the beach view, and the housekeeping were excellent. The hotel amenities were unsatisfactory. The restaurant was not full service as advertized, only breakfast was served 4 days of the week. The garage was not big enough for pickup trucks. the indoor pool wasn't open and the top two floors of the parking garage was closed off, making parking difficult.

Do not stay there.. No room service , 2 tv remote neither work.. Hidden fees $10 a day to park at hotel because we book from expedia nothing in fine print says that. AC unit leaks in the room.. No ice machine.. restaurant is not operational.. All hotel extra closing hours early.lots more wrong with place.…Caravelle use to be a decent place just a wreck now

Was very worried about staying here after reading the reviews. It wasnt that bad. It was clean enough, no bugs. The wait for the elevator was long. We booked oceanfront but did not get oceanfront. We were on the 7th floor and there was a building directly in front of us which blocked the view. The bar was fine. Check in was easy and the staff was friendly. It's definitely an old resort but overall decent.

Frustrating that neither of the on site bars were open past 9. Smoking at the pool right next to the sign that said no smoking. RJ’s not open for lunch. Weed smoking somewhere on the balcony. Tried to make us pay an extreme damage deposit when we were told no deposit is required. Elevators were atrocious. Way too small and not enough for the size of the hotel. No air conditioning in it either. Kitchen sink had no water pressure. It came out at a trickle. But the shower and bathroom sink had wonderful water pressure. Didn’t make any sense. Air conditioning in the room barely worked.

On the day we arrived no one at the front desk and had to wait 15mins. Finally he came around and gave room key and told me to go across street. After unloading and going to 3rd floor. No room, called three times and final answered and said we were in wrong building. When getting stay it said studio King bed. As we walked in room it had a nice kitchen but came into a double Murphy bed that was not close to being a king. Bathroom ceiling is not recommended for tall people. Pools were dirty and pool area was not kept up to anyone’s par. The one great thing is it was easy access to the beach and the Bartender at the local bar was great. Oh, but front desk told us restaurant was open but it was not.
On the day we arrived no one at the front desk and had to wait 15mins. Finally he came around and gave room key and told me to go across street. After unloading and going to 3rd floor. No room, called three times and final answered and said we were in wrong building. When getting stay it said studio King bed. Malheureusement l'odeur de la chambre n'était pas bonne! Nous avons pus chger de chambre avec un supplément mais avons très apprécié la nouvelle chambre....merci spécial à Nicole de la réception at the Caravelle

We have stayed here a total of 6 tines now. This time was off season but was still nice enough outside. The property is very dated as far as looks. We ALWAYS book the oceanfront double. The rooms are surprisingly nice and always super clean and the view is perfect. The elevators are never all fully functioning, so have patience. Its just an elevator,there are more than 1! It definitely needs updated esthetically but i truly love this extremely affordable resort. You wont be disappointed. Just dont have 5 star expectations and youll love this place.

Pay attention which one you select, the resort is a nicer building, good wifi, and cleaner room. St Clemente was the lower class building, everything is smaller and no wifi (they say there is wifi but it doesn’t connect). Besides that, both buildings are in great locations with amazing views of the beach. MAKE SURE YOU SELECT THE RIGHT BUILDING.
