We had a lovely stay, food brilliant, staff friendly and bed super comfy! The room was quirky and felt luxurious and our dog was made very welcome too! He was allowed everywhere in the pub but the restaurant so it made it really easy 😊

The Archangel was a little gem. From the outside it seemed nothing to shout about but inside was quirky and lovely. The food was good and the enclosed courtyard was a peaceful where you can eat and drink

The stay was good but our room was above the beer garden which meant that we couldn't really have the windows open because of the smell of smoke and noise. The room was so hot and had to ask for a fan - both us and the room next door had to open our front doors just to get air in but this was obviously straight onto the beer garden. Air conditioning definitely required in this room. Other minor things, such as bathroom door would not lock, the blind to one of the curtains was twisted making it difficult to open and close. Breakfast was so slow. Only 2-3 people there and everyone waiting at least 30 minutes for food. Glad we went early or we would have missed half of our day.

What a great place. Will definitely be visiting again. Lovely room, nice pub, log fire, good food deals, great location, lovely breakfast, dog friendly & staff were amazing. They have got it all just right.

Great breakfast in the morning and a clean and well sized room. It is a busy bar on a Friday and Saturday night so be prepared for a bit of noise; and there was some general maintenance needed in the room but other than that a really good stay.

The hotel comes across as a boutique hotel and at £153 per night you’d expect so. We booked a table that evening for dinner which was sub par and we were left waiting for service due to them prioritising the bar. Come 10pm we wanted a relaxing evening together away from our busy lives and daughter and we ended up being kept awake from 10:30pm until 2am! My husband went down to the bar to complain and we were told there’s nothing they can do they don’t have door staff! The building is listed so the windows may well not exist. If you want a peaceful night don’t stay in room 1. People going home drunk, taxi drivers shouting etc we did not get any rest and came home more tired than when we went. When we brought this is up with the bar staff the next morning a member of staff called Carmen said they were sorry and that the staff they have are “rubbish”. She stated she would call me by the end of that day when a refund would be issued, 2 weeks later and shock no call and no refund! I would avoid until you want a boutique version of weatherspoons.

Really quirky historic building converted very well into a modern pub and rooms. Amazingly comfortable mattress friendly staff and delicious breakfast. Great cocktail happy hour too.

Chosen as it was close to Longleat, parking was off site but easy walking distance, had evening meal and breakfast, both of which were cooked well and used locally sourced ingredients. The pub is made up of lots of small rooms, mainly off the main corridor which gives it a quirky feel. Would recommend and would use again.

A shame really. Whilst the evening meal was good, my room was upstairs facing onto the beer garden which was extremely noisy. The staff seemed to use the venue as their own social venue and were amongst the most noisy The shower was scalding and couldnt be turned down. There was a door missi g from the shower meaning water went all over the floor. The tray and seals were mouldy and the toilet bowl was broken. There were cobwebs everywhere and when it came to breakfast - after waiting 10 minutes to be seen, was told the chef hadnt turned in. The cutlery was dirty and the tables sticky. Croissants were offered but after waiting a further 20 minutes - these didnt arrive either an i had to leave... Very disappointing. I stay in frome regularly and am sorry to say i wont be back the the archangel.

The building is very quirky and gives off a great vibe. We did miss the memo that it is a very busy pub during the evening. This could be our error not knowing the area and not doing enough research however unfortunately we didn't have the best night sleep. This is clearly a common issue as there hotel supplied 1 set of ear plugs on a bedside table. Sadly even with these I couldn't drown out the noise from the road directly outside our window. The room itself was beautiful. It was well prepared, clean, tidy and over all really comfortable. The bath was super deep and they had some lovely smelly bubble bath. They provided tea facilities however we were missing coffee sachets and there was no access to milk. There is a fridge however it wasnt cold which is likely why they don't provide milk. The member of staff we met both times during our stay was very polite and clearly loved him job. He was a real credit to the company. The breakfast was 4/10. Fine included in the price but i wouldn't return for it anytime soon. Initially we were definitely discussing booking again for the next year as the bath and facilities were great for the price. However unfortunately due to the high noise levels this is not somewhere to come for an relaxing, quiet night away. The decor and style of the hotel is not reflecting correctly on the audience unfortunately.

Check in was chaotic. The bar was very busy, we had to wait for ages to get acknowledged. there seemed to be confusion with me booking. The letter in the room was addressed to someone else. The room needed decorating. There was a paint sample painted on one wall!!! The paint was coming off the wall in the bathroom. The sink was cracked and the loo was cracked. The grout in the shower needed a good clean. There seemed to be a rodent bait box in the bedroom!!! I could have stayed cheaper in the town but the rooms at the Archangel looked really nice on the website so I decided to spend more money. I wasted my money. The room was not worth £127.00 and I should have a refund. My husband has plenty of photos if you want them.

We stayed in the indulgent room and enjoyed our stay because the food was lovely and the service was great, it was also very clean. However, the matress was horrendous and so we couldnt get much sleep, the centre heating was not working amd the small oil heater wasnt enough to heat the big room and we had no milk for a morning tea or coffee. Bear in mind that we unfotunately stayed on one of rhe coldest days of the year.

We stayed in the signature plus room which from the pictures and first looking at looks very nice. Unfortunately the room was very worn. Paint missing in places off the walls, only half the lights working, shower head not working, the tv was unplugged when we arrived and we couldn't get netflix working, an iron mark in the carpet, the blinds didn't fit the windows properly so we were woken up early by the light coming in, and only shower gel for a bath. The staff were friendly and the food was tasty but over priced. You also need to pay for parking and renew it in the morning which we had to set our alarm for. Ive tried reaching out directly to the hotel and expedia have also contacted the management but they aren't interested. The room was not worth £180 a night.

Tiny room right at tge top of loads of stairs. Felt like flowers in the attic. Im not tall but had to stoop, room fit for a borrower. Bath right in middle of the room,with no shower. Quirky but as i stayed with my daughter not really appropriate to start washing bits and pits. Over all staff were quite friendly but wouldnt stay again, expected an angel in room(showed on sight? )HOWEVER NO ANGELS 😞

A very pleasant stay in a nice setting and location. However, our room unfortunately had a blind missing, so we very much saw sunrise at circa 5am. Also, a bit noisy in the morning with staff trying to get the pub ready. But that was to be expected when staying in a pub.

We only spent one night here but our room was warm, comfortable and spacious. There was a good choice for breakfast and the staff were all friendly. We would definitely stay again and felt it was great value for the standard. We stayed in a courtyard room but the outside was not really in use at this time of year so cannot comment on any noise

Nice traditional pub, with a nice atmosphere, and without exception the staff were great. The food too was very good. Check-in was painfully slow and not well organised. The room was quirky, quite small and had a bath in the room rather than a shower - a nice big roll top bath - but still a bath…in the room. Privacy was not an option. It’s an old building but the decoration was tired. Very expensive for what we got.

Breakfast was so slow. Only 2-3 people there and everyone waiting at least 30 minutes for food. Glad we went early or we would have missed half of our day.

Lovely open plan room in a loft setting. Had a rolled top brass bath in the room with a separate wc room. No shower or desk with mirror which made it awkward for my wife to do her hair as no power point near the wall mirror. Be aware room 6 which we stayed in has very narrow steep stairs so not suitable for people with accessibility issues. Staff were excellent, food and drink was lovely, as we ate in the evening and a very good breakfast selection.

Great breakfast in the morning and a clean and well sized room. It is a busy bar on a Friday and Saturday night so be prepared for a bit of noise; and there was some general maintenance needed in the room but other than that a really good stay.

Attic room, was nice, however not so great if you are tall. Even at 5ft 8, and partner 6ft 3 spent alot of time bent over avoiding hitting our heads. Bath was spectacular! Room was warm, and restrictors on the windows, so unable to get any air flow. Bed very comfy! Cafetiere and Illy coffee was a lovely touch Was a bit disappointed breakfast was included, but had to.pay extra £4 each for a full english. Food was good though. Staff super lovely.

We stayed in the signature plus room which from the pictures and first looking at looks very nice. Unfortunately the room was very worn. Paint missing in places off the walls, only half the lights working, shower head not working, the tv was unplugged when we arrived and we couldn't get netflix working, an iron mark in the carpet, the blinds didn't fit the windows properly so we were woken up early by the light coming in, and only shower gel for a bath. The staff were friendly and the food was tasty but over priced. You also need to pay for parking and renew it in the morning which we had to set our alarm for. Ive tried reaching out directly to the hotel and expedia have also contacted the management but they aren't interested. The room was not worth £180 a night.

Nice traditional pub, with a nice atmosphere, and without exception the staff were great. The food too was very good. Check-in was painfully slow and not well organised. The room was quirky, quite small and had a bath in the room rather than a shower - a nice big roll top bath - but still a bath…in the room. Privacy was not an option. It’s an old building but the decoration was tired. Very expensive for what we got.

The hotel comes across as a boutique hotel and at £153 per night you’d expect so. We booked a table that evening for dinner which was sub par and we were left waiting for service due to them prioritising the bar. Come 10pm we wanted a relaxing evening together away from our busy lives and daughter and we ended up being kept awake from 10:30pm until 2am! My husband went down to the bar to complain and we were told there’s nothing they can do they don’t have door staff! The building is listed so the windows may well not exist. If you want a peaceful night don’t stay in room 1. People going home drunk, taxi drivers shouting etc we did not get any rest and came home more tired than when we went. When we brought this is up with the bar staff the next morning a member of staff called Carmen said they were sorry and that the staff they have are “rubbish”. She stated she would call me by the end of that day when a refund would be issued, 2 weeks later and shock no call and no refund! I would avoid until you want a boutique version of weatherspoons.

A very pleasant stay in a nice setting and location. However, our room unfortunately had a blind missing, so we very much saw sunrise at circa 5am. Also, a bit noisy in the morning with staff trying to get the pub ready. But that was to be expected when staying in a pub.

A friend and I went to Frome for a wedding, and staying at the Archangel was perfect. It was close to the wedding, shopping and Frome itself was lovely. The staff was friendly and helpful, the venue had a wonderful series of quiet rooms, eating areas and our room was wonderful. The steel and brass fittings and stone work were beautiful. My one piece of feedback would be for our room; it had narrow steps up to the room which I think would not work for anyone who had disabilities. If the room does not already have a note on it that it isn't appropriate for anyone with disabilities, it should. We loved our stay and would recommend it to anyone.

The building is very quirky and gives off a great vibe. We did miss the memo that it is a very busy pub during the evening. This could be our error not knowing the area and not doing enough research however unfortunately we didn't have the best night sleep. This is clearly a common issue as there hotel supplied 1 set of ear plugs on a bedside table. Sadly even with these I couldn't drown out the noise from the road directly outside our window. The room itself was beautiful. It was well prepared, clean, tidy and over all really comfortable. The bath was super deep and they had some lovely smelly bubble bath. They provided tea facilities however we were missing coffee sachets and there was no access to milk. There is a fridge however it wasnt cold which is likely why they don't provide milk. The member of staff we met both times during our stay was very polite and clearly loved him job. He was a real credit to the company. The breakfast was 4/10. Fine included in the price but i wouldn't return for it anytime soon. Initially we were definitely discussing booking again for the next year as the bath and facilities were great for the price. However unfortunately due to the high noise levels this is not somewhere to come for an relaxing, quiet night away. The decor and style of the hotel is not reflecting correctly on the audience unfortunately.

Chosen as it was close to Longleat, parking was off site but easy walking distance, had evening meal and breakfast, both of which were cooked well and used locally sourced ingredients. The pub is made up of lots of small rooms, mainly off the main corridor which gives it a quirky feel. Would recommend and would use again.

From the moment we entered Friendliness was the Name of the Game! Tasha showed us to our room and told us everything we needed to know. The room was nice, large, well renovated, bed was very comfortable. We went to eat in the dining room for our evening meal which was delicious. I had the Hanger Steak which was cooked to perfection, my husband had fish and chips which was great too. Breakfast was included and what a choice we had. Everything you could think of was on the menu, juices, cereals, then the poached and scrambled eggs made in a variety of ways plus the conventional bacon and eggs, toast etc. Really good, very friendly and a great experience. Thanks to all.

On arrival we were greeted by the 2 staff on duty and after a short wait (because we arrived early and a room change) we were shown to the room and the breakfast was explained to us as was the after hours procedure. All staff we met were very friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was very good, lovely to be able to sit outside and enjoy the early morning sun. It was also nice to be able to sit outside in the evening The room was clean and we had a fan to help try and keep the room cool during the heatwave. The bed was comfortable and not at all like some hotel beds where you both roll to the middle if one moves. The floor creaked a lot, but hey, the building is centuries old. Lovely to have the mahoosive bath, and right by the window. Our dog enjoyed the attention of staff of which he got quite a lot. He was given a sausage for breakfast but showed no interest in it, which was his misfortune. The hotel is ideally sited in the centre of town for anything and is ideal for local shops etc.
On arrival we were greeted by the 2 staff on duty and after a short wait (because we arrived early and a room change) we were shown to the room and the breakfast was explained to us as was the after hours procedure. All staff we met were very friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was very good, lovely to be able to sit outside and enjoy the early morning sun. It was also nice to be able to sit outside in the evening The room was clean and we had a fan to help try and keep the room cool during the heatwave. The bed was comfortable and not at all like some hotel beds where you both roll to the middle if one moves. The floor creaked a lot, but hey, the building is centuries old. Great place to stay in Frome. Location is perfect for exploring, staff are really helpful and the building itself is very cute and cosy.

Very lovely room with nice little welcoming touches. The free standing bath was a delight. Dinner was good, breakfast not so. The same with the service. Overall, a good location and room and by ironing out a few inconsistencies with the food and service it would be great.
