Quiet area. Rooms are quite small, but that's expected in an older European hotel. Had a nice powerful shower stay! You check in at a neighboring hotel and walk a few meters to the Alpina. There is a nice large lounge area where you can also sure your luggage if needed. We had a small chain to keep ours secured, but I don't think it was necessary. I would stay here again.

The staff and the service was nice. The location in the English Quarter was as expected and desired, 1 minute from the main commerce area. The all wood room (including the ceiling) was a nice touch, as were the old fashioned windows Unfortunately the small old elevator kept going inoperative when the 3rd floor door wouldn't register as closed, forcing my wife with bad knee and cane to work up stairs multiple times until I figured out the source of the problem. The bathroom was modern but not all was clean. The wardrobe latch was broken, but we didn't use it. This is a very popular tourist town with a wide variety of hotel options. To compete, Hotel Alpina needs to add a few more touches.

The room was clean and had a nice little deck to sit on. The elevator was broken and we had to walk up 3 flights of stairs to our room. The bed was the most uncomfortable I have ever slept on.... it was like sleeping on springs. The front desk guy was very nice.

The hotel is a traditional wooden building about 10 mins walk from the station, located in a quiet area off the main street. My room was quiet most of the time, until people in other rooms started leaving from 6am. Breakfast was good and is taken in the next-door Tannenhof hotel less than 1 min. walk away. Staff were helpful and pleasant.

Would have given more stars if the reception desk was not in another hotel, if there was a refrigerator and if the hallways actually had lights. Very dark when you enter the hotel. Very few amenities.

Hotel Alpina is in walking distance of the train station and multiple restaurants and stores, which is convenient. You have to walk on a path off of the street to get there, and I was impressed with how well-lit it was. Unfortunately the hotel itself does not have customer service or a check in desk - we checked in and checked out at the hotel across from it (Hotel Tannenhof), but they make that clear in the check in instructions. This is a good mid-range hotel in Zermatt, surrounded by much more expensive hotels, but still safe/clean and in close proximity to whatever you may want to do in Zermatt. It was suitable for a short stay. The beds are not incredibly comfortable but the hotel is good overall.

Hotel was in a great area and you could see the matterhorn as soon as you stepped outside. Check in was a pain because we arrived late (train issues) and I didn't check my email to see we had to check in at a different hotel. We actually didn't see or interact with anyone from Hotel Alpina the entire time we were there (2 nights). But we didn't have any issues so that's not really a complaint but more of an interesting tidbit. Beds were terrible and pillows were worse. But the room was nice and cute and very clean. Breakfast was at the hotel next door. It was a typical European breakfast but it was good and you had a nice view of the mountain while eating which was cool. Overall I probably wouldn't stay here again but that's literally just because of the beds and pillows because neither of us slept at all. But the place was super cute and in a great location and the price was great.

The hotel was pleasant and quiet. There was only a hand held shower over the bath. Breakfast was served in the sister hotel next door, which was a two minute walk. The buffet breakfast was nice and ample was available and quickly replenished.

unfortunately, my wife and I decided to check out a night early and move on to our next city. This stay was disappointing... we found bugs in the room upon arrival. Our room was dusty, we had to open and shut windows all throughout the night to regulate the room temperature because the room was so hot. Even after turning down the heaters. Our pillows were paper thin, the bath faucet leaked non stop, and a light was burnt out in the bathroom. These inconveniences lead us to check out early. I have messaged the hotel to at least consider a partial refund for our stay.

Excellent staff, in house breakfast is very much appreciated. Very clean room and seemed newly renovated floor and bathroom with a deep tub and the bed for a youth is excellent and can be put out to the 3rd bed for a family of 4. We loved the hotel.

Very basic facilities, rickety bed and waferthin pillows, no in-room coffee station/hair dryer etc. The toilet/shower was so small that i had to rotate on the spot to enter exit. Really basic , however location is good. Sister hotel tenerhof is newer and looks better

Fine as a budget short stop, but doesn’t look or smell nice. Hotel is really dated, bathroom is in need of rapid update (shower pressure is good, but that it’s set to hit sideways, about 4 ft off the bath ground level was weird). I spend a lot of time in different hotel beds and can usually sleep anywhere. This mattress was not comfortable and the walls are paper thin. At circa £140 a night, I wanted better than this. Also no tea making facilities available. But, it was clean and well located.

Our stay at Hotel Alpina would have been great if the sound insulation in the rooms was better. We heard every single sound of the room above us and unfortunately they did not go to bed until the early hours of the morning which meant even with ear plugs we could not sleep. I wouldn’t recommend staying here for longer than a night unless you can sleep through a lot of noise. Everything else was great. 😊 Pros: comfy beds, nice shower, great location, amazing views, nice staff. Cons: high likelihood of not getting a good nights sleep. No facilities provided to make hot drinks.

The actual hotel was very average but I’d like to thank the marvellous receptionist who helped me enormously when I developed a very painful mouth condition.. she organised a doctor and taxi on the spot and a dentist for the next day .. she literally saved my holiday

The hotel suffers from sending you to a different (much nicer) hotel to check in, and then you have to shamble round the back to a wooden shack. But it's quaint, and the communal space (which you have to discover behind a nondescript door) is it's best but most concealed feature. Noisiest cleaning crew in the world having a reames conversations at 8am though.

Walls are very thin, can hear everything from every room. Pillows were non existent. Advised reception of closet not closing and shower not draining properly, no one came to check on our room even though we were told someone would. Disappointing stay. Only positive was the breakfast was very good variety.

A great location, though I will likely not stay here again. Previously, a coffee machine or kettle has been in the room, but not anymore. Primary gripe: housekeeping beginning their day at 07:30 with loud door closing and equipment dropping in the hallways. For the cost of this establishment, a kettle and observed quiet hours are not a tall ask.

Hotel Alpina is pleasant, quiet and centrally located place in Zermatt easy accessible from the train station. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Love the little balcony in each room. Everyone in reception are very helpful and friendly. This place offers everything you need. Wish I could stay there longer!

The hotel is a traditional wooden building about 10 mins walk from the station, located in a quiet area off the main street. My room was quiet most of the time, until people in other rooms started leaving from 6am. Breakfast was good and is taken in the next-door Tannenhof hotel less than 1 min. walk away. Staff were helpful and pleasant.

What a gem. Fantastic view of the Matterhorn from our little balcony. L9ved the usebof wood throughout. The Nespresso machine was a welcome touch. A very comfortable bed and so good to enjoy a bath for a change. Breakfast was taken at the sister Hotel Tannenhauf just 20 metres away. A superb selection of meats,cheeses,fruit yogurts,breads,juices,hot drinks and a cooked selection too. The breakfast room itself was large and airy giving great views of the surrounding houses and hills and of course the Matterhorn. Ideal location as in a quiet spot just a few minutes walk away from the Matterhorn Museum and shops and bars and a short walk from the train station. Loved our stay here.

You book in at an adjacent hotel. This is also where breakfast is served. Breakfast is continental with no hot option. We found that perfectly adequate. The hotel itself is a little shabby and run down. But it is very clean. The photos of the hotels rooms are certainly not the room we were in which featured floor to ceiling pine cladding and what appeared to be polystyrene ceiling tiles. There is no kettle or tea making facilities. It's all a bit dated. But let's be honest, we were there 2 nights and it was comfortable enough. We found noise from other residents to be intrusive; slamming doors, raucus laughter late at night/early in the morning and whoever had the room above us seemed intent on moving the furniture about at 5am. None of this is the hotels fault. The shower is the most powerful we've ever had. You could pressure wash a car with it. Overall, it was OK for a couple of days but we wouldn't have wanted to stay much longer.

Excellent staff, in house breakfast is very much appreciated. Very clean room and seemed newly renovated floor and bathroom with a deep tub and the bed for a youth is excellent and can be put out to the 3rd bed for a family of 4. We loved the hotel.

Purtroppo tutto il personale parla solo inglese e non tutti lo parlano: ci sono altre tre lingue in Svizzera (tralasciando il romancio) e come minimo all'accoglienza il personale dovrebbe conoscerle. Questi ultimi sono comunque stati molto gentili

The staff was very friendly and didn’t hesitate to help. Loved the little elevator, private bath and a television was included. Central location to shops and dining , and a 10 minute walk to the train station. Simple but nice.

Das Zimmer war nicht sauber. Wenigstens frisch bezogene Betten. Kopfkissen ganz schlecht, man hätte auch ohne Kissen schlafen können. Massiv!! überteuertes Zimmer - Fr. 375.00 für eine Nacht am Wochenende vom Zermatt Ultra, 21.8 auf den 22.8. für diesen Preis erhalte ich ein Luxuszimmer in einem 4-Sterne-Hotel in Lausanne am Genfersee😉! Zum Glück hatten wir ein Lavabo und ein WC im Zimmer und mussten nicht auf‘s WC im Gang. die Dusche haben wir nicht benutzt, hat uns absolut nicht angemacht in die Wanne zu steigen….sehr enge Verhältnisse in der Nasszelle. Der Hoteleingang war schwer zu finden und aus wir endlich reinkamen mit Code erschraken wir etwas, da es wie in einem billigen Klassenlager aussah. Wir kamen nur dank Personen, die am Hotel vorbei gingen, die ich draußen 22:45 reden hörte und die ich zum Glück angesprochen habe, zu unserem Zimmerschlüssel. Die Person teilte uns mit, dass wir den Schlüssel bei der Reception im zugehörigen Hotel Tannenhof holen müssen. Diese Information hat auf allen Dokument gefehlt und wurde uns auch am Telefon nicht mitgeteilt. Gerne würde ich Zermatt wieder besuchen, gerne sogar im Hotel Tannenhof. Ich habe vernommen, dass es den Hotelbesitzern aber extrem egal sei, was ihre Gäste an Kritik hinterlassen. Aber wer weiß☺️ vielleicht erkennen sie trotzdem, dass der Gast König sein sollte und sie würden mir mit vielleicht einem Gutschein wegen den Unannehmlichkeiten entgegenkommen?Ich würde mich sehr darüber freuen! So, we had to check in at the hotel next door - didn't know that till we read the sign on the door. The hotel is a few blocks from train station through the heart of Zermatt, and some curvy allys to get there. Room was clean and comfortable. We had a shared terrace but it was a little dirty but no big deal. Beds were comfy. Had to borrow hair dryer at front desk - they don't supply them in the room. The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. We got there early and they have a room to keep your luggage safe and secure that includes a shower! If I ever went again, I'd consider this hotel to stay at un Zermatt! Oh, also included a breakfast that I unfortunately we did not partake in because we had to leave early.
