A disappointing stay overall. The lodge requires renovation. Pool lounges are only 4, and a couple are broken. The room was not pristine: water stagnating in the tub, drain did not function, hair all over the bathroom, trash bins not emptied after room service, etc. I wouldn’t return.

We would definitely recommend this property for the quiet and quaint atmosphere. It has a nice heated pool and is easy access to the town of Portland and Camden. There are plenty of restaurants nearby.

This was a very attractive property, convenient to Rockland (for the Lobster Fesitval). Parking was convenient, breakfast was nice to have on site. View was incredible! We didn't try the pool, but it looked lovely!

The view of the bay and ocean was outstanding. The room and bath area were clean. Parking was fine. I do not like spiders and they were everywhere on the balcony and the landing area to walk to your room. This bothered me.

Most of the building was in excellent condition with fresh paint and newer furnishings. The beds were comfortable. Our room and bathroom were nicely cleaned, however there was a mold smell in the bathroom. There was no visible mold, so I think it may have been in the bathroom heater. The breakfast was very nice. We especially enjoyed the homemade pumpkin bread. The view from our room was beautiful. There is a nice staircase giving access to the beach.

We are locals who take a few nights annually for quick get away stays near the ocean. We've always enjoyed our stay at the Ledges, however this time we weren't as impressed. When sitting down to eat our sandwiches and enjoy the evening water view, there were spiders lowering themselves from the ceiling via webs which had to be removed. Upon further examination, there were active webs in corners behind chairs and in corners that had clearly been there a while. The entire floor throughout had a layer of dirt, hair and other debris that could be felt with bare feet. When shining a light on it, you could tell it too had not been properly cleaned between guest visits. Perhaps this was just an isolated event - I hope, but it was displeasing for our stay. The toilet paper was nearly out with no replacement roll anywhere in room. We searched for a microwave overnight to warm up a leftover sandwich, but to no avail there was not one in the room. Apparently they have had issues with them being stolen or damaged, so they removed them from all rooms and placed a couple of shared units on property, which we did not know about until asking the next morning. Not a SUPER big deal, but I must say - I've never stayed at a motel/hotel that did not have a microwave in room.

The remodel is nice. Walls are a little thin I heard the neighbor snoring. LOL not the inns fault but I think I would prefer to stay in a bay side room with a view. When we visited it was too cool out to enjoy the pool however it was clean and the grounds were kept

Very nice location with an amazing view! Rooms were comfortable and everything worked. Staff were super nice! Rooms had a basic modern layout. Wish the rooms had a microwave but they do have one in the ice room.

The view was incredible, and I was lucky to be visiting during the Harvest Moon. It was stunning. I did find other guests' hairs in the bathroom drawers which was a bummer. It made me not want to store any of my things in any drawers.

Beautiful view but that was all. Room needed in depth cleaning. Bathroom floor was sticky. Screen door to deck was missing on our room and some others so you could not leave the door open and enjoy the breeze. Sliding door took a lot of effort to open and close. Breakfast was minimal and some condiments were communally shared by all.

Loved the beautiful view. Room was very clean and spacious. The only negative for us was that, due to the date, we missed the previously included breakfast. Room could also use a microwave.

Room floors were filthy. Our beds did not even have a footboard, exposed bed frames like barracks. There was so much hair on the floor in the bathroom. Not enough seating in the main dining room. Building exterior falling apart. This property does not care and is not well taken care of.

The front desk person informed me on check-in that they only had one person to clean all the rooms that day. There were spiders in the shower. Breakfast was included, but the breakfast items had been sitting there for days. The bread was hard, they had cut up muffins into three slices and had them out.

Bed was comfortable. Room needed some attention from a "handy person". A lot of noise from Route 1 throughout the night made it difficult to sleep. We can't sleep with noisy AC, but if you can, that would help with road noise. Basic low-budget continental breakfast, but view is unbeatable. We wouldn't stay there again--too many other good options in the area.

The room did not look anything like the photos on Hotels.com site. No decor of any kind in the room, simple plain bed sheets, no decorative cover as shown. On the positive side the view was fantastic, but unfortunately there were no screens on the sliding glass doors, so we were unable to enjoy the sea breeze in the warm evening.

The bed was not very comfortable (too hard) and I wish the window had a blackout curtain. But the room was spacious and had all the basic amenities. It was a great option to attend wedding festivities in Camden without paying an additional $100+ per night.

We arrived earlier than check-in time, hoping to leave our bags. No one was at the desk. Several minutes later, someone appeared, only to disappear into the “employees only” office. After 10-15 minutes we left. We returned around 4:00 pm, and again waited (about 5 minutes) for someone to staff the desk and check us in. We were on the lower level, with a pleasant view out to the bay. When we got back to our room after dinner, at about 9:00 pm, noise from the room above was noticeable, and lasted quite a while. It resumed EARLY in the morning, and we concluded that we must be under the dining room, hearing staff readying breakfast—but we were not. We tried to make coffee. The power light on the Keurig came on, but it didn’t brew. Breakfast was meh. (Almost never is an included breakfast very good; this was sub-par: DIY waffles the only hot option, eggs and peanut butter the only proteins. No real butter, no cream or half and half for coffee. All on paper products.) Hygiene products in the room were decent. Room was clean. We wanted to bring the noise and non-working coffee maker to the attention of the staff, but, alas, the desk was again left unstaffed at checkout.

This was the worst hotel we’ve stayed at in a while. The desk person was very unhelpful. The cleaning staff were rude and even with a non disturb sign they banged on our door early in the morning. The products are cheap and the bathroom wasn’t very nice. The hotel had barely any guests but they put us all together and so we heard a lot of noise from other people. The floors are hard but there is no kind of mat or anything so the snow and sand got all over the floor. The beds were uncomfortable and it was cold in the room. The view is nice but I would never stay here again.

I would definately stay here again. The location was great and the views were amazing. The staff was friendly abd Allen, in particular, was super helpful. I wish something other than Indian food was offered at the restaurant. The breakfast was good, especially the strawberry waffles.

Room #139 was very clean and new looking, no odors, the walls are a bit thin as I could hear the man snoring in the next room and the a/c is loud and didnt work well. I had it on 69 degrees and it was still warm in the room. Although the site shows a great view, my room didn't have one because I didnt realize I had to "choose" a room with a view! The manager, when I asked him if I could change my room and pay the difference told I would still be charged for the room with no view because Expedia has a no cancelation, no refund policy

We arrived earlier than check-in time, hoping to leave our bags. No one was at the desk. Several minutes later, someone appeared, only to disappear into the “employees only” office. After 10-15 minutes we left. We returned around 4:00 pm, and again waited (about 5 minutes) for someone to staff the desk and check us in. We were on the lower level, with a pleasant view out to the bay. When we got back to our room after dinner, at about 9:00 pm, noise from the room above was noticeable, and lasted quite a while. Desk clerk, Allen went above and beyond to correct a booking error that was not his fault. He was able to get us a needed first floor room without an increase in cost. The place was clean and beautiful. I would definitely stay again.

The hotel was great for the money. The views of the bay are spectacular. However, I was checked into a room with a noisy AC unit that the staff seemed to be aware of.. which made me question why would they check me in there? But the most reason I will never return to this place is the 10 AM checkout. I slept until 945 and then woke up in a panic when I realized checkout was 10 AM. I called the front desk to inquire about an extension so I can at least get ready to go they begrudgingly offered an extra 30 mins But we’re very rude about it. 10 AM is just too early when you factor in coming in from the West Coast that’s a difficult adjustment. Great place great location great views extremely poor customer service I won’t be back for that reason sadly, I want to be able to at least stay until noon. If you’d like to be rushed out by rude staff while you’re still half asleep, then this is the place for you. It was a stark cintrast To the friendly service at check-in, I guess it was the credit card. I was handing them that made the difference.

The Ledges by the Bay property is very clean, and well maintained. The rooms are large, and the beds are comfortable. The continental breakfast is limited to bread items, fruit, coffee, and juice. It does have a lovely view, but not walkable to anything.

We would definitely recommend this property for the quiet and quaint atmosphere. It has a nice heated pool and is easy access to the town of Portland and Camden. There are plenty of restaurants nearby.

I was happy that the staff at Ledges by the Bay were able to accommodate me even though I arrived a day early. They were very nice. The room was nice and clean. The view from the breakfast room was superb. Breakfast was adequate but unsurprising. Getting out of the parking lot and onto US 1 was an adventure. However, the previous occupant had somehow rigged the refrigerator in the room so that it buzzed loudly when the compressor went on. I finally undid the "fix" when I tried to move it out of the cabinet while I was attempting to unplug it sometime around midnight. The same person had also turned off the cold water feed line. I figured that out while I was trying to get back to sleep after struggling with the refrigerator. I was surprised that they didn't set the alarm for 3 AM also.

The view was unique for those that had one. We did not. Very noisy both from thin walls and the road. You could hear what people next door were saying clearly. Could not walk anywhere from hotel due to busy road and location. Only a place to sleep and that's it from my perspective, definitely no extras.

Staff were polite, check in was easy and they sent instructions and information prior to check in which was a nice personal touch. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. The view of Penobscot Lake was beautiful. Continental breakfast hit the spot, had just what you needed to start the day. They even had souvenirs which were cheaper than the nearby stores. A short drive to Camden with shopping, great dining and boat tours made it such an ideal stay and we will definitely be doing it again. It’s a little pricey but we went peak season so that’s a given.

Loved the view! The carry-out Indian food available some days of the week was awesome and convenient, too. Bed was comfortable and the generous room had two chairs that we sat in to watch the sunrise. No frills but all the necessities. Highly recommend!

Location was fine, older property, with fair maintance. Breakfast was less than average. Eg: milk for limited choice of cereal or coffee was from a gallon of milk, cream cheese was from one large container, jelly was from one large jelly jar. All to share Making it very unsanitary for all.

Great ocean view rooms in recently renovated property. Clean and comfortable. Breakfast included was just ok - no eggs or meat available, however, there was a waffle station. Parking was available just outside the room, staff was friendly and helpful. Checkin and Checkout easy and quick.

This is an adorable place with an ideal location with a beautiful water view. The room was very nice and bed was comfortable, which is extremely important to me. My only disappointments were the limited hours to check in. The latest time was 7pm. Also it states there is a restaurant and shows pictures of breakfast set up but there wasn’t either available. Also in the lobby is an unpleasant food smell I’m assuming from the employee or owners food. It was in there both times/days I went in there. Besides that it was lovely.

Reasonable prices, mediocre breakfast; the one thing I really wanted was a screen in the sliding glass door so that I could enjoy the air coming from the bay. It's easy to guess that these oversized screens were broken again and again and management finally gave up. I would still like a solution to that problem.

Room was clean. All updated finishes. Great staff. Nice views. 4 miles from great dining. View were great. It was so good that we booked on the way back Bar Harbor to Portland for a night because the hotel in Bar Harbor was so horrible and twice as expensive as this property. Breakfast was well done, room is nice. Balcony view very good. Staff was exceptional.

We checked in to a dirty bathroom sink, mirror, and tub. We called the front desk and they promptly sent someone to clean up. They should have moved us to another room. After they had gone we noticed other items that were less than clean like sprinkles (from donuts or ice cream) on the floor next to the nightstand and a plethora of ants and spiders. On our way to the room the path and lawn were riddled with feces from pets. It made the trek in and out with our bags an obstacle course that was made much worse once the sun went down. The continental breakfast was weak at best. The OJ was good but, if you didn’t want a waffle, pickings were slim. I would not stay here again.
