This B&B was conveniently located to either end of the city for touring and was in a very quiet area. Other guests were respectful of rules concerning quiet hours. Laundry availability was limited but was not detrimental to enjoying the stay.

The B & B was comfortable and quiet, and located very close to the airport. There were several rooms on the first floor, and several rooms below grade. A full service kitchen was available, as well as a smaller kitchen. We never talked to or met the owners, but check-in was very well documented and easy. Breakfast was ample, but was more similar to breakfasts offered at hotels (yogurts, toast, bagels, hard boiled eggs, juice, milk, fruit, etc. - more grab and go type foods). Parking was very tight, but sufficient. The B & B was clean and quiet.

This is a very cute place to stay. The room was comfortable with plenty of outlets. The closet was adequate. Even though it was located next to a street, it was very quiet inside. There was a nice living room to sit in. Breakfast was an extensive fix what you want. There were hard boiled eggs in the fridge along with yogurt, both cow and plant based milks. Real butter is a plus. :-) There were also eggs you could fry. There was oatmeal and cold cereal. Granola bars and breakfast bars were also available. There is both a Keurig and a drip coffee maker. I appreciated the sandwich condiments in the upstairs kitchen. A bonus is the downstairs kitchen one can use.It has a big refrigerator and stove. It is well stocked with all kinds of pans. A microwave is there. The only drawback I found was the hand soap in our bathroom and the downstairs kitchen. There were bubbles in the container but it felt more like water. It did make bubbles on my hands. I find Softsoap refill thick so I always dilute mine but I feel that this was diluted too much. I used the shower gel instead to wash my hands. A funny note, the bed in our room make a squeaking sound that sounded like a duck!

Jewel Lake is our home away from home when in Alaska. Cook yourself breakfast is good. Nice laundry facilities. This is convenient to airport. Bus stops across the street. Lyft and Uber are available.

Close to the airport, comfortable bedding and nice eating/lounge area. There was some torn carpet in liv I ng area that could be a trip hazard...kd be taped down. Arrived after late night flight and no parking available except by owner's garage as previous guests parked too far apart.

Second time staying at Jewel Lake. Love this little spot! So easy, coming in through Anchorage, as a quick overnight stop before heading down the peninsula. My bed was like sleeping in a supportive cloud. I never sleep well my first night away no matter how comfortable I am but I slept so well and was so rested here!! Coffee and breakfast items were simple but just enough. I enjoyed being able to grab just the things I needed/wanted and enjoy a bite before hitting the road. Though there are also plenty of options nearby. Parking is a breeze... And anytime I text with questions or comments I get an immediate response. Jess is wonderful! I plan to make this my regular stop for every trip to AK.

Everything about this property, and our stay was amazing, with the one exception that the entrance was not plowed. Had we brought our rear wheel vehicle we would not have made it into the property to be able to stay, luckily, we had our four-wheel-drive vehicle, but even then it was a challenge. Very unsafe unplowed entrance from the street.

It was very easy to check in but there are about 8 stairs outside to get to the lobby and unleash the room on the main floor, there are also 8 steps to go downstairs. The kitchen on the main floor is very well equipped with cookware, silverware, plates and cups as well as necessary cooking items ( oil, spices, etc). The refrigerator was full of bread, bagels, eggs, butter, cream cheese, milk for the guests consumption. The room we had ( Denali 1) is very small and the bed was too sort for us, the common area is very pleasant. The location requires a car. Short ride from the airport and train depot but need a car/uber.

Cute little BnB. Close to Airport. Shared spaces were nice. Rooms comfy and clean. We left before breakfast. Only thing to be aware of is the stairs going to downstairs rooms. I had a heavy bag and stairs were tricky. But it was a lovely stay. Will use again.

The first thing I noticed when I opened my room door was a raised toilet without any privacy. I saw black water coming out of the faucet when I turned on. There was no closet to hang clothes and no desk in the room.

We stayed here the night before leaving Alaska, The rooms were clean and quiet. Kitchen areas were also very clean, service was not necessary as check-in was a breeze. It was nice to cook rather than go out as we were drained. We slept well and left early for the airport. I would stay here again, it is much better and better priced than a hotel.

Communications with staff were great, the self serving breakfast options were great, instructions were simple and easy to follow, but the cleanliness overall was less than optimal (bathroom had hair all over the floors and in the shower on the floor and walls, bath towels/washcloths were dingy and I felt dirtier using them). Ended up cancelling a later planned stay here just because of the cleanliness.

Filthy and no breakfast as promised. Our room was in the basement.The carpet had stains and the refrigerator was disgusting. The place stank. The toilet was on a platform above the bathroom vanity. It wasn’t a safe or clean environment.

Our bedroom was not nearly so nice as the photo of the shared living space displayed on the website. We had a basement room that smelled musty with some dampness in the carpet. There was little room around the beds (Queen size and single combination). All plumbing fixtures in the bathroom were elevated about 9 inches, presumably because of retro-fitted plumbing. We had to avoid some sharp screw heads that stuck out on the small platform that held the toilet. There was no good place to put your feet while sitting there. On the plus side, we appreciated the comfort of the bed, the breakfast foods supplied in the upstairs refrigerator, and the use of a clothes washer and dryer.

We chose this B&B for the location close to the airport. Upstairs kitchen and living room with fireplace were nice. Self-service breakfast items were plentiful, and we like that there were cups and plates and no single use plastic items. We and our friends stayed in two of the basement rooms, which were poorly put together (squeaky uncomfortable beds, bathrooms with a high step to the shower). The rooms as well as the downstairs kitchen looked like a very poor DIY job (peeling paint, peeling veneer on the countertops, moldy caulk in the showers). We have a hard time understanding how they got their ratings.

Did not meet any staff directly. The room was extremely warm, we did turn down thermostat (after locating in hallway), turned on fan which was pretty dirty. Bathroom was not ideal. Big one foot step up to toilet & shower. Hole ceing and our shower had ceiling stuff all over the floor. Also had a dirty washcloth left from previous occupant (?). It was a decent place to stay before leaving Alaska, but would not have wanted that Caribou room for longer. Upstairs kitchen was nicely stocked and clean.

Stayed in the Denali room. Room was small, but fine. My wife and I are not large people, but shower was small. Very hot in common area when we arrived late in evening. We were worn out from trip so didnt bother us as we went straight to our room. Room was a little warm, but with ceiling fan and floor fan was able to cool room down pretty fast and enough to sleep. Everything else was AWESOME! Very nice B&B. Decor, kitchen self-serve, check-in. Considering what we needed, it fit our needs. Would stay here again and highly recommend!

Common areas were nice and comfortable. Convenient to have self- service breakfast which was adequate. Denali room was barely big enough for the bed, and accompanying bathroom was very small. But convenient to airport and close to coastal trail if you have time to kill.

This is a very weird set-up as the individual rooms are in the basement of the home. We were in the Aurora room which is entered right off of the basement kitchen. You enter into the bathroom which is very strange. The plumbing is under platforms on which the shower/tub and toilet sit, so getting on and off the toilet is an adventure. The room feels like a dungeon with low ceilings that are stained. The window opens up to ground level with a view of an old RV. The beds were clean and pretty comfortable with the twin bed more of a cot/roll-away looking thing. This was a better option than the highly over-priced chain hotels in Anchorage, and we felt safer in this area than in the busy part of the city.

A great place and well appointed with 2 kitchens and lots of self-serve food options. Our only complaint was the beds in our room, which had cheap, springy and squeaky mattresses.

Don't recommend the downstairs rooms as we were woken up at 6am by someone in loud boots walking back and forth in the kitchen for two hours until it was time for us to get to the airport. It's a very decent place to stay but there's a reason only the downstairs kitchen is for guests to use. I wish there was a sign upstairs about it. Beds are a little squeaky but comfortable. I will definitely be back but wow I am frustrated we couldn't sleep due to another guest. Please make more obvious signage so people can sleep!

Clean and cozy, check in was easy and communication with the host was great. Good breakfast selection. They even stored my luggage in a safe spot for a few hours in between check out and picking up my rental vehicle. 10/10 would stay again.

I have stayed at Jewel Lake a couple of times over the years when I can find availability. The communication is excellent and the lodging is very welcoming, comfortable, quiet and safe.

The service and room was terrible. The bed sheet in the room was unchanged and fill with crumbs. We couldn't even sleep in the bed. I tried calling and texting the customer number that was provided, there was no answer. There was not a single person in sight at the hotel. Even after checking out the hotel I was not contacted after leaving a message. If I can rate it zero star I would. We'll not be returning to this place again.

Second time staying at Jewel Lake. Love this little spot! So easy, coming in through Anchorage, as a quick overnight stop before heading down the peninsula. My bed was like sleeping in a supportive cloud. I never sleep well my first night away no matter how comfortable I am but I slept so well and was so rested here!! Coffee and breakfast items were simple but just enough. I enjoyed being able to grab just the things I needed/wanted and enjoy a bite before hitting the road. Though there are also plenty of options nearby. Parking is a breeze... And anytime I text with questions or comments I get an immediate response. Jess is wonderful! I plan to make this my regular stop for every trip to AK.

The owner was very rude to me, my travel companion and we heard her tell another person who had a room there that “you need to go now”! Although it was nearly check out we had laundry going and nearly done and was throwing people out before 11 which was check out. The bed was so comfortable it was like a cloud but she totally was a rude owner.

I had a wonderful stay. It was a little tricky to find the driveway and I had to turn around and try again. There was a fully stocked kitchen with breakfast foods in the refrigerator. There were water bottles. There were books and games. My daughter LOVED the room with the little bears and foxes on the walls. I will definitely stay again!

The BnB is located strategically to Ted Steven’s Int’l airport, and other venues such as Fred Meyers, Target, and Cabelas. Everything within reach. Furthermore, the place is clean and cozy. Lovely place.

I’ve stayed at Jewel Lake Bed and Breakfast before. It’s cozy, quiet, conveniently located near the airport, and competitively priced. I prefer to stay here when it’s available.

I like the ability to talk to other travelers in the common areas. The breakfast options stocked are very good—eggs, yogurt, cereal, fruit. There are stairs to reach the front door and more stairs for some of the rooms.

Jewel Lake B&B is a quaint place and was perfect for our 1-night stay. The bus stop is right in front and provided cheap transportation to the airport. The breakfast options were a little limited - individually packaged boiled eggs, raw eggs which you could cook, coffee & tea options, some fruit, and granola bars. We didn't mind because it was significantly cheaper than getting a hotel in the airport area, even after taking an Uber to get breakfast at a diner. We did have to go a few miles away to find a restaurant for a late breakfast, as the closest option we found isn't open every day. The decor was nice and had a homely feel. I would have liked to have more time to sit on the porch or in the breakfast room. Overall, I would recommend this place as a great alternative to a hotel.

Jewel Lake B&B is delightful! We had such a lovely stay here. The room was cosy, comfortable and clean and the communal facilities were excellent. The self serve breakfast was full of choice and really well thought out. Highly recommend!

We booked our room the morning of our stay due to a travel SNAFU. We were extremely happy with our visit. It is a home with 3 bedrooms/2 baths upstairs and (we did not see it) a bedroom/bath downstairs plus laundry and kitchenette (we heard the beep of a microwave and saw references to a fridge downstairs). The owner(s) live on the property, but not in the place you have access to. The kitchen and living room are shared space. The kitchen is well stocked with clean dishes, cereal, fruit, breakfast bars, coffee makers (traditional and Keurig), milk, stove, pots, etc. 2 of the rooms on the 1st floor are considered a suite and share a bathroom, but no one outside of the guests that book the suite have access to that bathroom. It has wood floor beams so there are some floor creeks, but nothing out of the ordinary. The all wood knotty pine paneling and beams reminds me of a ski cabin. There is a nice covered porch out front with plenty of seating. Also tons of seating inside. The carpet is worn in places, and the oldest looking part of location. The kitchen has wood or vinyl planks that look like wood, new and looks very nice. Our shower was reminiscent of a cruise shower in size, but they did a nice job of making the best use of the space. I'm 6'5" and I had no issues with it. The mattress was fine and the bed did squeak a little, but not bad. The owner communication was excellent. We were texted a code to get in and owner was accommodating/responsive. I would stay again.

Decent location near the outer edge of town, within walking distance of an excellent seafood restaurant (Kincaid’s). However, the room was basic and amenities didn’t really match the price. Very simple spread of store-bought breakfast products.

We stayed in the Alaska Suite on the upper floor, which had two bedrooms and one bathroom. The room was quiet and comfortable, and we especially enjoyed having the kitchen and lobby on the same floor. Since there were no other guests using the space during our stay, it almost felt like we had the entire floor to ourselves. It’s also conveniently located just about 10 minutes from the airport, which was a big plus for us.
