Dunleith Historic Inn

Dunleath as a whole is grand and beautiful; however, the grounds and facilities are not maintained appropriately. Big broken tree limbs on the ground in parking areas, Ice machine signs, yet no ice machine available other than from the nearby restaurant. The pool looked nice; however, the hot tub was the same cool temperature as the pool. Our room was clean and nice, with comfortable beds. However, the jets in the air bathtub did not work, the coffee machine was broken, and the air conditioner froze up repeatedly throughout the night, and was unable to maintain the room at 72 degrees. Office personnel brought me batteries to replace the depleted ones in the thermostat, while I was trying to troubleshoot the issue with the air conditioner. Hotel management did reimburse us for a portion of the charges for our stay. Dunleath has a lot of potential, but cannot meet future demands unless maintenance of the aging facilities is kept up with.

Truly impressive mansion. Quiet. Many stairs so be prepared for that.

Beautiful antebellum home, now a B&B. Nice spacious rooms in the house. Continental breakfast but tasty and quick. Beware, no elevator in the main house rooms.

Beautiful historic property with cost equitable to local hotel rooms. Very poor lighting in parking area at night, no visible staff on property except check in area, no replenishment of towels/room cleaning for entire 3-day stay, property open-absolutely not secure as mansion door unlocked at all times, and 2nd floor common space extremely dirty/messy from a wedding held one week prior to our arrival!

The home is stunning… from a distance, but the maintenance of the grounds was disappointing. The water in the fountain was green… the grass was too high… the attention to detail you’d expect simply wasn’t there. I can empathize… help has been hard to find & competition in the market likely fierce. The Castle Restaurant on site is outstanding as was the Pub below.

The restaurant and pub were great. The grounds and house need tons of maintenance due to overgrowth around the pool and rotting and buckling wood on the exterior of the main house.

This property was great! It doesn’t appear to be kept up…the outside of house is very dirty. Inside was clean! Facility needs more lighting on the outside. Was very hard to see where going at night…had to use flashlight. I was very disappointed when I learned the day of our stay that breakfast wouldn’t be offered. Expedia website stated that breakfast was included.

A great historical place for anyone wanting to stay at the Dunleith House Inn. It was what we were needing for a quite relaxing weekend. The host at the check in building was super informative and very welcoming. Overall it was a good place for our experience. That being said, the place has potential being a great place if it was kept up better and things need to be repaired along with things it desperately needs like an ice machine, a map of the place when people check in, and a continental breakfast that can turn it into a superior bed and breakfast place. Just an opinion of two people that has stayed in many places in the United States.

During our stay the pool was not maintained and there were no pool towels

Gorgeous property! No elevator (3 floors) and tiny mini-fridge. Great bed. Instant hot water! All and all worth it for the setting!

The Castle pub food and service were excellent. The Mansion House looked beautiful from outside, but our room was not clean, the TV was small with a faulty remote, the safe didn't work and the bed was old and uncomfortable. Reception staff were helpful but there was no housekeeping unless requested and everything shut at 9pm.

I loved the room we stayed in and the view from front of property! The lights on the trees to the restaurant were magical!!! I felt there were areas where there was trash in bushes and on the grounds that needed to be picked up. Our bathroom had not had a good sweeping and mopping. That’s very important to do. Sweeping the whole room and mopping shows that you care about your customers. The floors inside the house needed vacuumed, stairs needed vacuuming. It made it look unkept. I felt the room price was very good.

We arrived at 8 pm to find our room unprepared for guests. It hadn’t been cleaned. It took a while to get someone there to clean it, which was an inconvenience, as we were tired from a long day of travel. Staff very friendly. Food at restaurant was excellent. We heard a lot of noises during the night, which made it difficult to rest well. Sounded like someone walking very heavily, or dropping heavy objects on the floor above us. Interesting experience!

Our room was very dark with no natural light. The one window that was there opened onto a passageway wall so provided no light. Bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. Bathroom very small with black mould on the sealant. Only one roll of toilet paper with no spare roll anywhere. Room air conditioning noisy. Room was not serviced . Only the pub was available for food, not the restaurant, though food could be chosen from either menu.

Place looks amazing until you look closer then you notice that upkeep is a little lacking and cleanliness is to - hair in tub, caulking pulling away around unit door and tub, etc. Comfort was great and desk staff was awesome. They no longer provide breakfast so not really a B&B.

First night we had a leak in the room and was told to stay in the room and it would be fixed once we leave. The room had not been cleaned or dusted. Mold in the bathroom. Drywall needs repair. Holes in walls. The next morning we tried the breakfast but found mold and out of date muffins. We went to purchase our own. Definitely will not be returning.

Clean & spacious room! Friendly staff & a beautiful historic house.

The property is beautiful and it was a quaint experience to stay several nights in an antebellum mansion with period decor. However, the only interaction we had was the person behind the counter who checked us in. There was to-go food containers and trash bags in the upstairs hallway. By our second day, it smelled. The trash was left over from a wedding the WEEKEND before (7 days before our checkin)! Our room was not serviced with towels while we were there. There wasn’t water available, except from the tap. No breakfast options, except the restaurant on site. When we checked out, the poor guy didn’t even ask how the stay had been….. Dunleith could add a few little things to make this a sold out destination. 😔

It's a beautiful place overall, check in was at 4pm, went ok, not much info given, hauled my luggage by myself up several flights of stairs, no one to help. got to the room, only to notice the top blanket was damp, stained and had a dead bug on it. I tried to call the front desk but the phone was not working. walked back down to the front desk only to find it locked and the one lady gone by 5pm. Walked around the property and saw some people who told me that there was a pub hidden in the back that was opened, so I went there to eat. The food and service was excellent at the pub. Wanted to swim later but the pool was not ready apparently. Went back to my room for a shower, the shower was not completely clean, had to rinse it before I got in. ugh gross. There was a woman ghost in my room, I actually saw her for a split second, one light bulb flickered, I got chills and was scared a little, but I left the lights on to sleep and the tv loud so I couldnt hear anything else. The second night, still no blanket. I thought about checking out, but by the time I got back from my conference the front office was closed. I left the lights and tv on again. At about 2 or 3am the power went out. I layed in bed, frozen scared to death. I prayed for the sun to come up. As soon as it did, I got out of bed and called the front desk, but, of course, no one answered. I got dressed and left out of that place as soon as possible. I can't believe there is not at least one staff member on property.

We were a little disappointed in our room location. We had been here a week before this visit for a music festival, and the house looked amazing, so we booked a room for our return trip. We got a "basement" room! Not in the historic house! It is NOT a Bed & Breakfast, just a Bed. It used to be a B&B, but in the last few years it was sold, and is now a "Historic Inn". Some other folks on the historic tour of the house said they got to stay in an upper floor room, but we were in what was obviously a "cellar" (maybe we didn't pay enough for a real room?!). During the tour, they even said that the lower level was used to hide horses from enemy soldiers during the Civil War. Yuck! As for the room itself, during the winter, it has a working gas fireplace, but it was shut off for the summer. The shower and water pressure was decent, the bed was comfortable. The heat/AC was adequate to keep the temperature comfortable, despite the rain and chill of being in the basement. The room and shower were well cleaned. Parking was minimal, with our car parked about 200 feet away over gravel road (difficult for wheeled suitcases to traverse). Oh, did I mention that the only amenities was Kurig coffee. The restaurant required reservations, and of course we had none. Good thing we had snacks with us! On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd rate this about a 6.5. Nowhere near as nice as I had expected, especially for the price.

Beautiful old mansion. We stayed in double suite. Room was nice enough, but major problems with the heat/AC. One room freezing and other room burning up. Really needs to be addressed. Disappointed with breakfast, but wonderful restaurant/pub on site. Mixed feelings about this place.

Dunleith is a beautiful setting. The pub and restaurant mean you can eat on site and you can swim too. We chose a low level room. It was nicely appointed. We sat outside on the chairs and enjoyed the afternoon. However, you could hear the people next door and above clearly, there were a lack of PowerPoints that worked, light bulbs were blown and the shower curtain was very mouldy. It was a bit grimy. We felt the room itself needed someone to inspect it. The website also states bathrobes… we asked where they were. The answer oh! We don’t do them anymore and haven’t since Covid. We’ll update your website. Food was nice. Beer… need a menu in the pub

The gentlemen who checked us in was very courteous and helpful. We had a minor issue with the safe, he was prompt and resolved the issue. We were on property for three mornings to have breakfast. After the first morning nothing was restocked which left very little to choose from. Pop tarts, children’s cereals are not an adult breakfast choice. The clerk offered to check the pub to see what was available. She stated the truck didn’t arrive to restock. We feel items could have been purchased at the grocery store to meet the demand until the truck arrived.

Most comfortable bedding I’ve ever slept in.

A lovely place to stay in Natchez - especially with the Castle bar and restaurant. An easy walk in to town and all Natchez has to offer. The breakfast was very limited, we actually walked back out and went to town instead. We also had room 103 - if you get it, decline the room. It has no natural light or view.

It was ok but a little loud during the day.

Our stay was wonderful. The views were amazing, the room was huge and yet very cozy, the bathtub was incredible and the bed was the cherry on top! We slept very well on the awesome mattress inside a four poster bed that was beautiful. The only thing I could have wished for was “a dumb waiter,” to carry my luggage to the 3rd floor. Don’t over pack! But, the jet bath tub definitely made up for any discomfort getting to my room.

Wi Fi in room 301 was in available. Needs to be addressed. Castle restaurant was closed both nights that we were there,

Jonathan, the Manager at the property, went above and beyond for my wife’s birthday stay. When an error happened because of the system between them and Expedia, he made it right! When we return to Natchez, we will definitely stay here again!

When we checked in, we were not given the room we booked through Expedia. We had booked a queen room in the main house, but were given a loft room in the back of the house. The desk staff said there was nothing that could be done because we booked through Expedia. Totally disappointed because we went way out of our way to travel and experience the antebellum mansion. We left the next day early and the breakfast did not start until 8 pm so we did not even get to partake in that. So disappointing. We could have done a tour and stayed in a Hampton Inn. Really disappointed in the lack of response from the hotel. Grounds are beautiful and restraurant was great for dinner.

Staff did not service the room, on check out we were told they only service if requested, they should tell you this when you check in.

Great customer service @ front desk! They’re spot on to bring somethg to your room or right there if you cannot figure out how to turn on the TV. Who does that anymore?? The Castle restaurant had some of the best food I’ve eaten next to my son-in-law’s cooking! I’ll drive 2 hrs just for that steak, spinach salad & mile high banana cream pie! Loved it all…you must try it out! You won’t be disappointed!!!

How sad that one of the premier antebellum homes in our country is being treated this way - and their guests as well. The receptionist was the most rude and unhelpful person I’ve encountered in over 65 years of world travel. Hope it sells and gets renewed to its former greatness. While staying in Natchez suggest staying at Monmouth 5 star.

Our stay at The Dunleith was incredible. The home is absolutely lovely as are all of the staff. The food and hospitality at The Castle, located on the property, are first class.

I loved the property. The Staff at the Castle Bar and Dining room were great. Unfortunately, that was the best of the stay: The grounds were not maintained very well. Really sad because the setting was great. The "breakfast area" was late opening both mornings we were there, and it was poorly stocked. The person for the morning front desk was always late which is why the breakfast area did not open at 7:30 as we were told. The person would drift in around 8:10 to 8:15 and then had to be asked to open the breakfast area. I had to repair the shower fixture in order to use the shower. I called the front desk for help, but no one ever answered. I loved the property but unfortunately, it fell well short of my expectations as it did with several others we met at the House. We simply didn't feel welcomed. Hope things get turned around. The property has great potential.

Unique hotel. Great location. Quite and peaceful. Clean. Very friendly staff. Two issues-the hotel resturant was closed for a private event. The was no indication of this when booking. And the continental breakfast was extremely minimal and not very tasty.

Dunleith is an interesting, nice antebellum mansion. Unfortunately the restaurant and bar were closed the two nights we stayed there and it is a mile or so from downtown.

Stayed in the 3rd floor overlooking the courtyard! Room very comfortable, had a refrigerator but no microwave. The dinner at The Castle was excellent! Loved the atmosphere as well as the food! Walk around the property as the sun went down & saw a lot of firefly. The staff was very friendly!

Beautiful place. Room was nice. However, there was a good bit of old food left in the fridge from a previous guest. The breakfast was a complete joke. Should not advertise breakfast as an amenity. Individual cereal boxes and bad coffee and it did not open on time. Got better breakfast at the gas station around the corner. Very disappointing.

Not the same Dunlieth. No longer serves breakfast, not even an apple. This is not a bed a breakfast. You should look elsewhere in Natchez for a true bed and breakfast. Property is very dark with minimal lighting. The Castle and the bar is just not the same anymore. This used to be a happening place.

We really enjoyed the property and room and had a wonderful dinner at the Castle, but they should not call themselves a B&B since breakfast is small cereal boxes and granola bars (more like Motel 6).
