Mid City Motor Inn

This motel was very central and had shopping and dining options within walking distance. The room was clean and tidy and everything was in working order. The staff were helpful and friendly and the pool area was lovely. We stayed in Mackay for a family reunion weekend and we were within 10 minutes drive to each of the venues involved. We are happy to recommend Mid City Motor Inn.

A couple of things that would have made our stay more enjoyable in the future. 1) Parking bays are far too narrow 2) At night, external lights are left on - for safety etc naturally - but these shine into the room and there isn't a way of blocking this out! 3) The shower area has no door for privacy

easy parking, spacious room, pool was great, comfy bed , but shower wasnt the best , only boiling hot or lukewarm seemed to be achievable.

We travelled with our grandchildren, we felt safe, the staff were friendly and there was a washing machine and dryer for us to use. I would definitely stay again.

I loved the garden and pool area that the rooms opened onto.

We styed for 2 weeks and it feld like home. James and the staff were available and went above and beyond to be helpful. The location is great being a 10min walk to the shopping centre in ine direction or the thursday markets and town centre in the other. Lots of parking, guest laundry and a pool &bbq area

Bed really good, other furniture not so great. Room not serviced daily. Pool though clean has no rail to steps, slippery tiles, I felt quite unsafe. The whole place needs a makeover but after an initial booking error (I requested downstairs, got upstairs, and but for a kind person overhearing and swapping rooms, I would have cancelled) staff were helpful. Breakfast is basic but adequate.

Parking ok. Everything in room old shabby and rusty. Sticky tops. Pool green looked dreadful very disappointing. Staff not friendly. Expensive for no pool. Breakfast poor just packets.

A convenient location. Shower pressure was good. Clean and tidy. Neighbours were a little noisy.

Old and tired property. Smelled clean but old soaps still in shower.

Property is in poor condition. Bathroom had extensive mould, and holes in walls plus broken tiles. Outside of building has damaged walls and doors. Badly in need of renovation or demolition. Bed was good. Not impressed with complimentary breakfast. As builders we are disgusted.Won't go there again

Photos don't reflect the actual dilapidated condition of this hotel. Room had cracks in wall needs painting, smelt and bugs everywhere in the room. This was the worst Hotel I've booked into. Straight away got a refund and went elsewhere

The hotel is fine for a short stay of one or two nights. It’s comfortable and conveniently located, with easy access to supermarkets and places of interest. However, the cleanliness needs improvement — we found several cockroaches in the room, which was disappointing.

Upstairs room - fine if your legs work well, not so good after a total knee replacement ! Very spacious. Clean. Comfortable bed. 2 cm gap under the door invited cold air in overnight - just happened to be a 5 degrees low.

There was a good bed and the room was large. The staff were friendly but I had to go to reception to pick up my breakfast in boxes and take back to room. The water pressure was ridiculously poor to the point that I couldn't rinse my hair properly. I was in a Budget King room which faced an untidy parking lot on one side and a poorly maintained wall on the other side. Maybe the rooms on the other side of the building have a better outlook but my side was depressing and a little scary as I was travelling on my own. I felt as if I was in a ghetto.

The room was in serious need of renovation, (trip hazards and there was NO smoke alarm!) The sheets were clean, the hosts were friendly, the location excellent.

Nice and convienent for town restaurants. Rooms very dated some of the steel handrails are a bit sus. But the bed was very comfortable and the ac was quiet and held a cool temp. For the Mackay market is a fair place to stay.

Was a little bit run down to what we were expecting, however the bed was just amazing and we had the best sleep in a long time.

Continental breakfast was included in the price. No room set up for this. Had to go to reception to advise them what you wanted to eat then take to your room(which was upstairs) to eat.We didn't bother. The TV turned off every 30 minutes. It shared a plug with the fridge. Staff at reception were fine. Comfortable bed. Room was clean & spacious but dated.

Large room good AC, perfectly adequate for a one night stopover.

Terrible service ,wanted me to pay twice , the room was very run down ,dirty carpets ,very expensive for what it was

The room was okay for a budget hotel but there was an overwhelming smell of air freshener. However, I did feel comfortable in the motel and quite enjoyed my stay. I did find the reception staff member/manager - short, abrupt, unfriendly and impatient to be frank. Something which would be a reason why I wouldn't stay here again. The location was excellent.

Good service

We were in a bind and needed to stay a night in Mackay. We were "greeted" by an incredibly unfriendly person who turned even more unfriendly when we said we had booked ahead via expedia. We slept the night went to check out the next morning "greeted" by the same unfriendiness and to which we asked if there was somewhere we may be able to keep our 1 bag for a couple of hours as our flywas late in the evening. This was received with distain and and I told the the person not too bother as we were obviously completely reaching over the hotels capacity of customer service akills and etiquette. Do you stay here it is not worth the time.

Breakfast included but we were not told to take the packets from reception at checkin. When we went for breakfast in the morning reception was closed.

From the moment we arrived at this Motor Inn, I knew the photos on the website didn't match the current state of the premises. The staff member behind the reception desk was oblivious to the fact that the information on their website was incorrect and he didn't believe me. Their "continental breakfast" was laughable!!! I have had many continental breakfast's in the past and this Motor Inn's excuse for a "continental breakfast" WAS RIDICULOUS & A SCAM!! When we opened the door into our room (21), I've never been so shocked in all my life and the price that I paid for it, also made me more furious about it all. -In the room the paint on the ceilings incl the bathroom were peeling off, the curtains were oddly place on the wall and were NOT block out curtains, the security lights shone into the room at night, the fridge door was rusted and inside the frost building up in the freezer compartment, they had paper plates, bowls, and cutlery, the bedside table lights didn't work, the staff member at the reception had to ACTUALLY buy a set of lamps and physically put them in the room were in, the A/C leaked, the lights above the mirror in the room were blown only 2 worked. -In the bathroom the shower door didn't close, the tiles were cracked, the was no soap holder in the shower, there were holes INSIDE the shower, the bathroom tap NEVER stopped dripping. DO NOT STAY HERE!!! YOU WILL REJECT IT!!! WASTE OF MONEY AND SPACE!!

Spacious room, comfortable bed, decent sized bathroom, loads of shelf space, value for money, great breakfast choices . Definitely recommend staying here

Very dated property in need of an upgrade. Continental breakfast provided was a bonus

My stay was relaxing and comfortable, just a few mins to town and all the reataurants, location by the river and boardwalk is great. Staff are friendly and welcoming, great night sleep, shower was terrific, complimentary continentalbreakfast with a wide selection, and will be back again.
