Colonial Resort-1000 Islands

Could be a beautiful resort, had all the facilities but most facilities offered in the ad were not in service. Offers 2 pubs, not in service and restaurant also not in service aside from a meagre continental breakfast. This resort has the potential but if no upgrades made do not advertise them!

Room quite clean. Outdoor pool very nice. Also has indoor pool and hot tub. Great value!

Beds were good. Pools , tennis court, etc would need a refresh. Anyway we enjoyed our stay

Nice place to stay for the night. Rooms and beds nice. Outdoor and indoor pool available. Breakfast not so great. Basic things such as cereal, milk, bread, PB&J, yogurt, coffee, tea, and muffins.

The entire property is run down. In serious need of repair and paint! Pool is peeling so bad and looks terrible. The property looks good from far, but its far from good! They should use some of the money they rake in, to fix the place up, just my opinion. I spent $390 to stay there for 2 nights, was NOT worth that money. Its also run by "new canadians", who obviously just want to rake in the money, but not put any back into the place. Its sad.

The resort promised a spa that no longer existed. A bar that no longer existed. Breakfast was very basic. Long-term construction was taking place across the road, and in the road, outside. There was constant noise of digging and the beeping of vehicles backing up. The property shows signs of aging and neglect. The pool desperately needs work. The many boardwalks need maintenance (replacement of rotting boards) and repainting. There are clumps of grass growing though the tennis court. On a micro-level, upon registration I received an email inviting me to book a session in the spa that I subsequently found no longer exists. I asked for an external lamp to be replaced so I could read outside my room. That didn't happen. My next door neighbors talked and smoked until 1 am, so I couldn't sleep with my window open. At 7 am, they were at it again. The large pool enclosure, with a 60 ft pool, was still limited to 10 people - likely a COVID-era limitation that has never ben updated. In all, a combination of problems. The property is run-down. Between the property and Expedia there is a breakdown in communication, or responsibility, such that a case could be made for misrepresentation, or false advertising. And the property fails to communicate, or uphold, appropriate behaviour among its guests. I will not return to or recommend this property.

The tennis court is unusable. Chairs by the pool broken. Rooms old and run down. The property is nice.

Rooms were clean, air conditioning was excellent and not noisy. The pool while old, was refreshing and not over chlorinated. Indoor pool area was super cute, like a plastic garden oasis with seating. Breakfast was toast, muffins, yogurt, apple and coffee, tea, juices. Meh Great beds, quiet sleep If you're looking not to pay much, clean room, close to boat cruises this place is fine

It was a very nice, colonial style resort. There was complimentary breakfast too, and even a microwave. There was a game room too with pool, and an indoor and outdoor swimming pool. It is also a 15 min walk from the gananoque 1000 island cruise starting point. A very good deal at an excellent price.

Our experience was terrible from the moment we got there. Not only was the floor in our room on a slant, which was not that big of a deal, but the first obvious problem was that the door would not close fully… not only could you see light coming through, but a fly flew in through this huge gap that was open to the outdoors!! The floor in the room was dirty and when I lifted up the bedding, which did not even have a fitted sheet, there was hair all over the bed and it looked like it had not been cleaned. The air conditioner was filthy and the windows seemed to have single panes and did not lock properly. There was a very strange brown stain splattered on the wall, and it looked like blood stains on the white portion of the bedskirt. The coffee station was in the washroom -gross- we did not even bring in any of our belongings, but went right back to the front desk. We were told by the front desk we had to deal with Expedia to cancel and be refunded but Expedia let us know this morning that the hotel manager would not agree to a refund because it is not in their policy. We will definitely will be looking into this matter further with public health and the Better Business Bureau so other customers can be saved from the disappointment and inconvenience we have had to deal with. Front desk staff seemed to care less and after reading other reviews about bedbugs, disgusting conditions and rude staff we are clearly not the only ones being taken advantage of here.

Dirty. Property appearance not as advertised in photos. Plaster on walls coming off from water damage, room smelled musty, small flies, bugs in room, toilet didn't flush fridge dirty. Continental breakfast or coffee not available until after 8am. Had booked for 2 nights left after first night. Stay away from this property!!

I was so upset with my room. The ants were on everything. I set my water bottle down on the dresser for one minute and I had over 10 ants on it. There was a dead moth in the tub. The carpet was sticky. I would not take my shoes off. The shower curtain was brown on the bottom and it was a white shower curtain. The room had a not so nice smell to it. The breakfast is really nothing. My overall with the place is a 1 star. I will never go back.

This is a quaint and charming looking place in a beautiful town. The room was alright as far as cleanliness goes, although a little dated. The washroom however has not been maintained in quite some time. The paint was bubbling and falling off the ceilings and walls, the bathtub grout and caulking was full of mold and gaps. We had a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom, but there was no way we’d have used it based on what we saw. The shower head had a constant leak and the whole room smelt musky and damp.

Room was extremely damp resulting in mould forming in the bathroom and other windows. We will not be returning

The room was dirty. Dried urine on the toilet seat...the tub was coated with a combination of hard water residue and human sweat...long black hairs in the bedsheets...stay away from here...

There are hairs on the bed linens. I fee l very itchy and woke up in the middle of the night. Very bad experience!

*** travelers beware *** Stayed recently and encountered several issues that made the visit uncomfortable: • Mold on the bathroom ceiling, which staff attributed to the age of the building — but that doesn’t excuse a health concern. • Insufficient heating in the room, despite chilly weather. • spider in bathroom • When I asked to cancel the second night, I was told it wasn’t possible (no cancellations) Instead, they offered a different room • Throughout, staff interactions lacked warmth and professionalism. I didn’t feel heard or supported. I understand older properties come with quirks, but basic cleanliness, comfort, and respectful service should never be negotiable.

Tv was tiny. Air conditioner was so loud the tv couldn’t be heard. You could see outside all around the door, leaving it open to insects.

He only stayed one night, but the property was quiet and clean. The sidewalks were a bit uneven and everything could use a fresh coat of paint. In the room seemed a bit dated. Also the coffee machine had to be moved to another area to plug-in because the only place to plug it in where it was situated was an extension cord, but the extension cord didn’t have a three prong plug just mildly inconvenient. Overall, a comfortable stay… Just not overly luxurious.

After a long day of riding and wanting to relax in the jacuzzi tub and watch some TV, the TV in fact has picture but super grainy. After asking at the front desk if this can be fixed, he gave me no confidence that it could be and was told there is nothing that can be done. I rode to the Canadian tire to grab a converter so that perhaps I could hook up my laptop. Asked the front desk for a refund for the adapter as it was purchased due to their deceitful advertising of TV in the room. Yes there was a TV, but not a working one. After being told that the TV was a complimentary service I advise why advertise a complimentary service that doesn't work. May as well not have the TV in the room. As many have mentioned this place is in serious need of an update and better service. We will see how the sleep is tonight and the breakfast option tomorrow.

Very clean but needs updating. The construction of units was very well done in its day but needs a makeover. New paint, doors, door locks, bathroom flooring etc.

Bathroom was horrible pieces of paint were coming off the bathroom ceiling, the carpet are old and dingy. Tv way to small and hard to see from bed

Room was comfortable and as advertised. Lacking exhaust fan in the bathroom & walls are thin as we woken up two straight nights by younger kids partying in room next to ours till 2am

The property is poorly maintained. The floor in our room was uneven, soft in spots and slanted. The AC was hard to control. It was either too warm or too cold with the slightest of adjustment. The mattress was uncomfortably hard and the pillows too thin. You can tell that the resort used to be quite luxurious, but those days are completely gone.

The rooms need repairs. The water was either too hot or too cold, no middle ground. Bed was decent but pillows were lumpy. Breakfast was slim. It felt more like a motel than a resort.

Cute little resort that could use some updating. No where to charge phones, had to unplug lamps to charge phones ! Had to plug the coffee maker in the bathroom !

Clean grounds and clean room. Downside: Paying for a King Deluxe room for the fireplace and it wasn't working. As said, we called the reception and were told that it might be ''frozen'' ... 15 degrees celsius ??? Plus that it was just there for ambiance and not to heat the room. Nowing that, we would have paid for a standard room or they could have given us a credit.

Good room but poor customer service.

Found the check-in person to be very unfriendly and unwelcoming. Although the res indicated complimentary cont. breakfast, was advised at 9:30 am that it was closed, really? Again this was from Mr. Personality so wasn't a surprise.

I enjoyed my stay even though it is not a 5 ⭐️ hotel. I was weary at first because the room was so cheap! All I needed was a clean quiet room and they delivered. I must mention that the young man who checked me in was absolutely courteous and nice. Will definitely be back!

This place is beautiful but comfort level is poor. Person in reception or in breakfast area is severely lacking courtesy , extremely non welcome gesture. Breakfast is extremely poor in quality.

Staff were nice and the receptionist allow us to check out late around 11:30am due to our cruise trip.

This in not a resort as it claims. It is a motel that is very out dated. The price was on the cheaper end and that should of been a red flag. When we arrived to check in, the guy was sitting behind a desk. Not a friendly greeting. I said hello I'm here to check in and his reply was..."name" I told him my name and he got up and put on the counter the interac machine and said I can pay now and handed my key to me. Didn't say where the room was or anything. He said since you are saying more than 2 days if you want your room cleaned to contact the desk in the morning. A couple days later I needed towels and the garbage taken. The staff were next door so I asked the guy. He said girl speaks English I not understand ask her, so I did. The lady gave me the items I needed. The continental breakfast consisted of coffee, tea, juice, apples, muffin, yogurt, cereal and bread to toast. When we went for our continental breakfast which is only open from 7:30-9:30 the guy mending the front desk was coming back and forth to mend the food items. I found this place, the staff never spoke to guests when they are there. Not a very welcoming place, not a good morning or hello from any of them when you passed by them. The indoor and outdoor pool was there but we never used either of them. They didn't look too great. The rooms the beds were not comfortable and the room door had spaces around it as its not fitted properly for the frame. So I would say spend a little more and book a proper hotel.

We booked 2 rooms because we where 4. When we got there, was given only one key. Told them we had reserved 2. They gave me another key but the two rooms were far apart and not even in the same building. Asked why and they said they were 2 different rooms which we reiterate that we had booked 2 rooms that were the same (2 twin beds in each). We got one with twin beds and one with 2 double beds. Go figure that one. Said to come back because he needed to speak to another person which was coming in later. We did go back and was told they couldn't do anything. We were told that it was Expedia's fault and not theirs. Staff were not very friendly and not understanding our situation. What would have happened if we were 2 adults and 2 teens. Can you imagine having rooms far apart? The staff never smiled. Also, one of the room, the coffee machine wasn't even plug and no outlet to plug it. The only accessible outlet was near the bed and the top part was coming out of the wall and the bottom was all black. Not very safe. Also, we had to take cover of toilet because when you flushed, the water wasn't filling. We had to push on the top of the mechanism for the water to fill. Did not understand why the indoor pool was closing at 16:00???

I reached the resort at 9:30 pm the reception staff was not friendly.the ambience was good

For are 2 day stay they did not bring fresh towels on the second day or replenish the coffee, sugar, cream.

On arrival checked in and first experience with at reception was very rude no explanation any think about room ask direction to go get room rudely answered and gave wrong direction. Poor management.

Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Property was tidy and clean. Does need a little TLC as it looks worn, but it did look like they were working on a room, so I’m sure it will just take some time. The outdoor pool was large and had a deep end. The room did have a mini fridge, which was nice to put some drinks in since there is no store within walking distance. For the price it was as expected, would stay again.

Nothing negative to say. Affordable prices. Location is good close to many places staff is very friendly and courteaous. Comfortable bed, rooms are clean. Cozy quiet area. Would definitely go bad.

Location, cleanliness, convenience

Good overall experience, easy process. Rooms/bathrooms may need a bit of an upgrade but overall easy process, great location, and easy to get around to downtown or waterfront area. Lots of shops, resturants and coffee shops.

The outside of the property was looking slightly uncared for and in need of decoration. The room was very bare but clean. The breakfast was uninspiring with nothing hot available except coffee.

This is a quiet motel on a large property. It has both indoor and outdoor pools which i didnt use. There is also a breakfast included from 8-930am. But its really not good. It consists of only carbs. The only choices are toast, cold cereal, and small chocolate chip muffins. There is also apples and individual yogurts. But no eggs, meat, no other options. This really could use improvement. Most other places have at least scrambled eggs or boiled eggs and a meat option. Otherwise its a simple quiet highway side motel.

This is a cute vintage motel within a lovely natural park-like setting, and has a good sized outdoor pool - great for kids in the summer! Pet friendly. The entire premises is somewhat unkempt, but there is lots of grass and lawns and areas to sit and play/relax outside. Some rooms may have been updated, but ours was overly dated and worn/scratchd, and the bathroom wasn't cleaned properly. They offered a basic continental breakfast from 8-9, but we missed it because the window was too tight. I liked the grounds and potential this place has. The indoor pool area is incredibly vintage and fascinating with excellent potential, but it's very bizarre with plastic flowers and strange cheap plastic decor. I hope the new owners can spruce it up. We will check it out again next month because it's pet friendly and the grounds are lovely, but would advise asking to see the room first if possible. And request extra pillow, blankets, and towels too..

The hotel is suitable for one night, but overall it feels outdated and in need of renovation. The breakfast was disappointing, offering only toast with butter or jam, cereal, yogurt, apples, cupcakes, and coffee or tea. On a positive note, the staff was very kind and welcoming, which was the best part of the stay.

Je vous dirais que toutes étaient parfaite sauf le déjeuner. J'ai souvent mangé dans un déjeuner continental mais celui a cette hotel était beaucoup moins. Vraiment pas de chose ou pas de choix. Très déçu. Premier déjeuner à l'hôtel et les autres au restaurant.

The pictures on the website looked a lot better than in person. Many areas looked run down and in need of maintenance. The inside greenhouse had plastic plants and the fountain was broken. The sauna was broken. The continental breakfast was pitiful, only bananas for fruit, the bread for toast was super thin, the coffee was terrible. On the last morning I was woken up at 6:00 am by the dog barking in the next room. The towels at the pool felt like sandpaper. The hot tub had rust spots in the bottom. The pool sign said to take a shower before going in the pool but the soap dispenser was empty. I thought I was getting a great deal but had I known how run down this place was I would have spent more to stay elsewhere.
