Great location right opposite the pier. Rooms are very generous and the beds very comfortable. Parking was easy also as there is a carpark just behind the hotel (council operated).

The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and well stocked. I would give this property at least four stars except for two major problems. 1. There is no lift (elevator), so if you have several bags, you will get your exercise taking them up. 2. Stairs, stairs and more stairs. The hotel changes levels every few feet! You go up, you go down and up again. Even our bathroom had stairs to get to it. Outside the door were steps to the left and steps to the right. No avoiding them. If you have children, might not be a good choice. If you have some mobility problems or disability, like I do, the stairs become a major challenge and perhaps dangerous in some areas where the stairs twist and become very narrow.

Nice old fashioned hotel but with modern check-in after 5pm,all doors controlled by codes,as it looked like nobody was on site after then.No breakfast.Parking at the rear but have to pay for overnight/early morning parking.

Really nice hotel on Deal's seafront, near to the Pier. Quiet clean room, with bathroom, fridge, tea/coffee facilities and comfy bed. The staff were really polite and helpful too. Only qualification is there is no lift and some of the stairs are a bit steep, so it might not be easy for people with mobility issues. Apart from that, the Clarendon is a perfect place to stay in Deal!

First visit to Deal. Had read the reviews and found the Clarendon fully met with expectations. Great view of the sun sea and sky, not to mention the pier! Truly a great spot. Parking nearby was easy. Dining options all within a very few minutes walk. Very easy to relax and have a great time at the Clarendon. The room was very adequate, a double bed which was comfortable and a fantastic bathroom with a very good shower. Quite a few stairs to negotiate from the entrance but apart from that all good.

Great location on the beach front, short throw from pier and town centre. Clean room. Stayed in lighthouse suite on top floor. Great views and separate lounge (no lift and lots of stairs FYI). Car park easily accessible just out the back of premises.

I stayed at this hotel last weekend and was quite disappointed overall. The decor is extremely dated and the whole building feels in need of a serious refresh. During a storm, water leaked into our bathroom overnight due to the poor condition of the window—we had to place towels on the floor to prevent flooding. While the general cleanliness of the room was acceptable at first glance, it was clear that a thorough deep clean hadn’t been done in a long time. When my partner accidentally dropped an earring under the bed, what we found underneath was quite unhygienic. Noise was another major issue. There were young guests in the room above us, drinking and jumping around with their friends until 2 AM, which made it very difficult to sleep. As someone who travels frequently, I expected a much better experience—especially given the price. The view was fine, but nothing special. Overall, I found the hotel to be overrated and not worth the cost.

Our suite had amazing views and plenty of space for us to relax in. Check in/out was simple and reception staff were helpful and friendly. The lounge area did have damp in it, which i think is being tackled by a heating unit. We wouldve appreciated cutlery besides teaspoons, tools to wash up (plates, bowls, microwave provided and room adverised as having a kitchenette). The main bedroom didnt have a radiator, when we asked staff they advised the heater in the lounge should address the lounge and the bedroom... bit of a stretch on cold autumnal nights!

This is a nice and very charming hotel right on the beach in Deal. The property is a bit older but this only adds to the charm of the building and all modern amenities are provided. It’s also immaculate clean. Staff is really friendly and gave us great tips.

Well-placed hotel right on the seafront. We were lucky to have a seaview room with a lovely window seat to look at the view. It was however a busy, noisy road in front of the hotel and due to the age of the property, the floorboards creaked and there was noise from adjoining rooms and above. Overall the room was nice and it was helpful to have a small fridge and microwave.

Great location for a stay in Deal. Lovely views, of the sea and pier. Accommodation was well equipped , so you can easily bring food in, but it is also very close to lots of pubs and restaurants. So we chose to eat out.

We stayed for one night at the Clarendon Hotel with a seaview room which was amazing. Huge super king bed, bathtub that we could relax in after a day of walking and a walk in shower. Unexpected surprise was the AC which kept the room at a cool temperature and the free water and coffee and tea. Only a few minor things that could have even improved the stay was: Water pressure in shower was a bit weak but it's an old building so not surprising. The mini fridge made a few loud noises throughout the night and we didn't find an off switch. These are all minor things that did not reduce the beautiful almost 180 degree view of the channel and beach.

Its a good location for a hotel near the town and station. Staff are friendly and the rooms are nice. The complimentary selection of hot drinks and water is generous. Only let down was the wifi which didn't work since the evening of our stay and right up to when we left. I was kept informed and asked staff who said it was due to a local power cut affecting a few places. Also it was noisy from the suite upstairs and twin beds were small but we can only ask for so much.

Lovely room (Goodwin Suite) and great location in Deal. Simple entry to hotel and room via keypad code. Ceiling was a bit creaky when people moving about in the room upstairs. I would definitely stay there again.

Excellent communication from the Clarendon hotel that helped make the experience so easy. We stayed in the godwin suite which had an interrupted view of the beach and pier the room felt decadent. The bath in the room allowed for a luxery feel to the night. No food or drink on site but the guest book gives some excellent recommendations and the fridge allows you to purchase drinks and drink at your leisure. All in all an excellent experience we will be returning

Deal is a cheerful town with good shops and many eateries. We enjoyed Walmer and Deal castles and the walking to and from. Also, the History of the Moving Image was most interesting. The Bernadette suite was spacious and well appointed. Only criticism is that I was texted too early at 7:30 the day of departure with an annoying message about checking out, thereby losing two hours of needed sleep. This is carrying automated service too far. A quiet page of instructions on the door is enough.

Very good location in Deal. A few minutes from the train station and opposite the beach. The staff were friendly and allowed us to check in early as our room was ready. The room was comfortable and had good amenities.

Hotel staff were very friendly and called ahead of time to see if we wanted the sofa bed made up (we did). Room had a sea view and bed extremely comfy. They even called after we left to say there was a cuddly toy left. Will visit again and explore the area more.

We really loved visiting the Clarendon while travelling through the UK. Deal was a fun stop and the Clarendon was in a perfect location for an overnight stop. We're already ready to come back and spend more time on our next trip to England. Room was amazing. Staff was amazing. Everything for a great stay.

It’s a pretty simple basic spot. Rooms are good size but overall quality is a bit shabby. The online checkin key system didn’t work we needed manual help. The system doesn’t work well with Expedia.

Great location right opposite the pier. Rooms are very generous and the beds very comfortable. Parking was easy also as there is a carpark just behind the hotel (council operated).

Great location for a stay in Deal. Lovely views, of the sea and pier. Accommodation was well equipped , so you can easily bring food in, but it is also very close to lots of pubs and restaurants. So we chose to eat out.

First visit to Deal. Had read the reviews and found the Clarendon fully met with expectations. Great view of the sun sea and sky, not to mention the pier! Truly a great spot. Parking nearby was easy. Dining options all within a very few minutes walk. Very easy to relax and have a great time at the Clarendon. The room was very adequate, a double bed which was comfortable and a fantastic bathroom with a very good shower. Quite a few stairs to negotiate from the entrance but apart from that all good.

Great location on the beach front, short throw from pier and town centre. Clean room. Stayed in lighthouse suite on top floor. Great views and separate lounge (no lift and lots of stairs FYI). Car park easily accessible just out the back of premises.

Excellent communication from the Clarendon hotel that helped make the experience so easy. We stayed in the godwin suite which had an interrupted view of the beach and pier the room felt decadent. The bath in the room allowed for a luxery feel to the night. No food or drink on site but the guest book gives some excellent recommendations and the fridge allows you to purchase drinks and drink at your leisure. All in all an excellent experience we will be returning

Deal is a cheerful town with good shops and many eateries. We enjoyed Walmer and Deal castles and the walking to and from. Also, the History of the Moving Image was most interesting. The Bernadette suite was spacious and well appointed. Only criticism is that I was texted too early at 7:30 the day of departure with an annoying message about checking out, thereby losing two hours of needed sleep. This is carrying automated service too far. A quiet page of instructions on the door is enough.

Nice old fashioned hotel but with modern check-in after 5pm,all doors controlled by codes,as it looked like nobody was on site after then.No breakfast.Parking at the rear but have to pay for overnight/early morning parking.

Great location opposite the beach and close to walk from train station. Room was well equipped with comfortable bed and good shower. Windows in poor condition but possibly cant be replaced due to planning laws. Lots of places to eat closeby

We stayed in the smugglers cabin which is on the ground floor and has its own door to enter from the high street. We were emailed our passcode to access the door before arrival so didn’t need to go to the main entrance. The room was a very pleasant surprise a nice spacious living room with microwaves, coffee machine and kettle and fridge and TV. Behind there was tie sleeping area with a comfy large bed. At the back there was a very spacious bathroom with bath and a walk in shower. Nice toiletries provided. The big plus for us was the air con. It was wonderful our room was lovely and cold and we slept so well! I highly recommend this place great location too and attentive staff with great communication. I’ll definitely be back.

Lovely sea view from Room 8. Room was spotlessly clean. Bed and bedding very comfortable. Stairs to the room steep and twisty. The waterfall/rainfall shower did not have a second handheld shower head. Water pressure in the shower not great. Shower had a plastic curtain. Details of car parking options could have been clearer - you can park for free in Middle Street car park overnight from 6pm, to 8am the following day, and you can pay in advance for the maximum 3 hours, so you can get there at 6pm, pay for three hours and not have to leave until 11am the next day. This information is on the notices in the car park, but for visitors new to Deal it might be helpful to know in advance. Staff friendly and welcoming.
