Such a great experience! We’ll be back. Warm welcome and excellent services! Room is clean with great view! Food is good. You can wear traditional Japanese clothes provided in the hotel which is a plus. There is a Mt Fuji observation deck on top of the building. We took really nice pictures there wearing traditional clothes. Public hot springs are clean with lake or Mt Fuji. There is a private one available for rent.

我入住的前一天剛好遇到大雨，當天入住旅館才告知電梯因為漏水不能使用，然後我原先在3F的房間也因為漏水冷氣壞掉⋯只好換到2F的房間，第一次到日本旅遊遇到這樣的體驗⋯更何況是索價不貲的溫泉旅館，蠻失望的

Booked a 3night stay and each day just wow us more. The ryokan was having some renovations during our stay and there wasn't any lake view. However, the roof top view of mount Fuji made up for it. Every meal is different and the presentation is very pretty. There is always a welcome snack whenever we came back to the ryokan. It's a pity that i did not buy the snacks which were available at the store in the Ryokan thinking that I can purchase them at the train station souvenir stores. Friendly staff and the service was impeccable. We love the public baths as well which comes with steam and sauna rooms.

We enjoyed our stay here. They offer a shuttle to and from the train station in the morning (0800-1100, I think) and again from 1400-1700. They have a strict no tattoo policy for the public onsen but do offer a private onsen that can be booked in 30 min increments for a fee. As mentioned by others they do not allow any changes to meals. This wasn't a problem for us and we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. Our room was spacious and clean. The location was very peaceful and serene.

This is a must place to visit. The staff is amazingly friendly and helpful. The staff prepared bento breakfast for us to eat on our way to the next destination. They called Taxi for is too. The Ryokan hotel is highly recommended. The girls sauna has the view of mount fuji which makes it even better. Top deck with mount adda

This property is a bit out of the way but the view of mount fuji was amazing! Onsens where not tattoo friendly (we expected this) You can get a shuttle bus for the closes station to get you there between 2 and 5 for check in and then a free shuttle bus back to the train station that moring.

The service was amazing. The bath tub/sink in the room was too old. It's needed to update. The elevator didn't have any sensor. Just be careful because I got hit 2 times! Ouch! Japanese style meals were amazing. Everyday we got the different set both breakfast and dinner. The mattress in the room too thin and hurt my back. So, I put 2 or 3 mattress instead. I love the original ryokan look and tradition in this property. I wish I got the private onsen in the room. The location is good. We saw both view from lake and Fuji when clear sky.

From the moment I was picked up by their private shuttle, I felt very taken care of! I’m a solo traveler & this location & ryokan experience was exactly what I was looking for! The Japanese style room was clean, comfortable & quiet, & I was overwhelmed by the beauty of the lake view! The traditional ryokan breakfast & dinner were delicious & plentiful! They do remind you several times before arrival that this is a set menu, & there are no substitutions, so if you have any food allergies or certain dietary requirements, this may not be the proper place for you. Also, if you have a tattoo, you will need to book a private onsen time. I appreciated that the staff are wonderfully courteous & welcoming, & I do appreciate their policy of keeping track of every guest when one leaves the premises for an outing by turning in room key, then picking it back up when returning. The location is wonderful if you would like to be away from much of the tourist traffic. My dream of a clear day & view Mt.Fuji from atop their premises was magical! Thank you Wakakusa no Yado Maruei Ryokan!

This was a great Ryokan experience for us. The public baths had an outdoor section that has Mount Fuji right infront of it, breathtaking view! The dinner and the breakfast provided was an amazing experience as well, it was so tasty and the staff was so friendly and accommodating to our toddler! They brought her rice porridge and there was so much food! The only two downsides for our stay was first the cleanliness of our room and the location of the ryokan. Our bathroom was very dirty! The location is pretty much isolated, we would’ve liked to have some sort of trail or cafe or something close by to visit as we did get a little bored. Otherwise it’s a wonderful experience!

For anyone sensitive to mold or traveling with young children or conscious of their health, I would caution you against using this hotel. There was a horrific amount of black mold growing in the shower area in our room, all over the back of the shower door, the wood surround of the shower, the window surround, the ceiling, and the bathtub. It was all water damaged wood, meaning the most toxic types of mold. We could not use the shower as a result and were glad we were just there one night. Staying in the room overnight, my traveling companion and I both experience significant allergy symptoms indicating that the mold spores have spread throughout the room (there was also some water damage on the ceilings). For a place charging $500 per night this was very disappointing and gross. They were apologetic, but we noted mold and cleanliness issues throughout the property as well indicating more widespread issues and completely unlike everywhere else we stayed in Japan. Otherwise location was great and hospitality was okay—they didn’t fully explain some things like where dinner was located at check in but that worked out fine.

非常に良い体験をさせて頂きました。特に驚いた点として、朝風呂を考慮されており、タオルセットが宿泊者数x2用意されていました。部屋内外含めトイレも清潔でした。

Staff are very traditional service oriented. Some don’t speak English but they try. One complaint I have is the picture window in my bedroom is dirty on the outside and it obscures the beautiful view of the lake

We stayed 3 nights. What i didn't like was that the hotel only provide Kawaguchiko Station pick-up between 2pm & 5pm. Beside, the mattress was thin & you're sleeping on the hard flooring ...not used to it as it causes backache when you wake up in the morning. Moreover, there's no AC during our stay and they provided a fan for the room air circulation. On the good rating, the staff are conscientious & diligent. The half board breakfast & dinner menu are different on each day.

First time visiting a Ryokan and I will definitely return! Everybody was friendly, the service from all the staff was above and beyond and the rooms were all super clean, even if it wasn't a modern hotel. All the onsens were well maintained and they switch up the male/ female onsens daily so everyone gets to try them. My favourite was the 5th floor outdoor onsen, while we also booked a room with a view of Mt Fuji and a personal onsen which was super handy as we only saw Mt Fuji at sunrise during our trip so we did not have to leave our rooms at dawn. Overall 10/10!

We had a very pleasant and wonderful stay at Ryokan. The excellent service, especially the kaiseki-style breakfast and dinner, provided us with an unforgettable experience full of Japanese culture. The Japanese-style hot spring bath is nice to have. Also the surrounding areas are beautiful with the view of Mt Fuji. We do have two small suggestions: First, the strong tatami smell in the room might be improved with some light incense. Second, the large key for the room door was a bit inconvenient to use.

We had the best time on our 1 night stay here. We booked a room with a private onsen and half board. It was very easy for us to call for the hotel shuttle when we arrived at Kawaguchiko Station. There is an area for hotel shuttle pick up where we waited for only 10 min or so. Our accommodations were clean and comfortable. The heater in the room worked well. The private bathroom, shower, and onsen all worked well. I loved that we had a view of Mt Fuji from our private onsen bath when the clouds were clear. Our kaiseki dinner was served in our room and it was delicious. The chef even had an extra seasonal dish included with our meal. It was such a wonderful new experience for us. Breakfast also very delicious and set up in the common eating area which had a great view of the the late and mountains. The hotel has a great rooftop Mt. Fuji view of the whole area and I recommend venturing up there. We did not have time to visit the public onsen but I would love to visit here again in the future and try it out. We had the best time on our 1 night stay here. We booked a room with a private onsen and half board. It was very easy for us to call for the hotel shuttle when we arrived at Kawaguchiko Station. There is an area for hotel shuttle pick up where we waited for only 10 min or so. Our accommodations were clean and comfortable. The heater in the room worked well. The private bathroom, shower, and onsen all worked well. I loved that we had a view of Mt Fuji from our private onsen bath when the clouds were clear. Our kaiseki dinner was served in our room and it was delicious. The chef even had an extra seasonal dish included with our meal. It was such a wonderful new experience for us. Breakfast also very delicious and set up in the common eating area which had a great view of the the late and mountains. The hotel has a great rooftop Mt. Quite expensive to get such a dated room. Should invest to modernise the bathroom and toilet. Staff were super friendly and welcoming and the set meal was decent. But overall we feel that it was not very good value unfortunately.

The hotel is quite worn down and has more of a hotel-vibe than other ryokans we have stayed at. The onsens however are great and have amazing views. The food and service was really great. The rooms were really spacious but - and this is the reason for my negative review - had a really bad smell. Both the tatami mats and the futons smelled foul. We spoke to the manager, who said he just recently changed the tatami mats, so this issue might not persist. The futons smelled old and moist, like when you put your goose feather-pillow in the washer and the feathers get wet. They changed the futons for os, which helped some. We have stayed in many ryokans in Japan and have never had any of these issues before. We are surprised that few other reviewers has commented on this, as we are usually not picky or sensitive.

This was our favorite stay during our trip to Japan. The experience was great from the moment we arrived.The hotel has a shuttle readily available, that takes you from kawaguchiko station to the hotel directly, all you have to do is tell the ladies at the information center and they will call the hotel for you, it was very convenient. Once we arrived at the hotel the staff was waiting for us and kindly took our luggage.The check in was fast and the staff did a great job at communicating.After check in we were taken to dining area we here we were given green tea and a desert with a beautiful view of a lake and mountains.After we took the elevator to our room, our luggage was already there when we arrived.The hotel gives you options for dinner time, our group had a private dining room to ourselves.The food was traditional Japanese food, it was delicious and definitely filling.During dinner the hotel staff prepared our beds and wr chose our breakfast time.The breakfast room had a large window with lake/mounting views, it was an amazing way to start the day.The hotel also has a private onsen with direct views to Mt. The service was absolutely amazing. The staff were all really nice. On our day of arrival, we were going to be late due to delays, but they had specially prepared dinner for us to eat even though we were going to arrive after Dinner hours were over. That alone made us understand just how wonderful our stay was going to be.

Stayed here to get great views and easy access to the Mt. Fuji area, while also getting a traditional Japanese Ryokan experience and it did not disappoint! The property and rooms were very clean and well kept. All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They have a very convenient shuttle that goes to the main local train station (Kawaguchiko station) which was super useful (you just have to note the times, because it doesn't run the whole day). Even without the shuttle, it's easy to walk to nearest train station. Breakfast and dinner are included if you choose and they both were traditional Japanese meals, and everything was absolutely delicious! They also have a public and private bath house- we paid a little extra to use the private bath and it was great, its all natural water from Mt. Fuji and during the day you get a great view of Mt. Fuji from the onsen. The view from the rooftop gives an unobstructed view of Mt. Fuji and the property sits on Lake Kawaguchiko, so it's a few minute walk to get to the lake (we were there in the late afternoon and it was very peaceful with not many people). All in all we had an amazing experience at this Ryokan, would highly recommend if you're looking for peace, quiet and a traditional Japanese experience.

Wonderful ryokan with the most friendly staff. The traditional rooms were very comfortable and well thought out. The private onsen was very nice. The meals were unbelievable, especially the dinners - we were treated like royalty. Breakfasts were a bit harder for western stomachs and habits - this would be our only recommendation as they have 3 types of breakfast - allow the option to only take the western option. Location is excellent on the lake and with a stop for the tourist bus just in front and a free shuttle to the station. And amazing views of Mt Fuji on the rooftop. :

This property is a bit out of the way but the view of mount fuji was amazing! Onsens where not tattoo friendly (we expected this) You can get a shuttle bus for the closes station to get you there between 2 and 5 for check in and then a free shuttle bus back to the train station that moring.

This was a fantastic stay with a fantastic authentic Japanese experience. Unfortunately it was a bit difficult getting to and from the property. The property shuttle from the station ran at very limited times and public transport to and from Mishima and Tokyo was limited.

Very friendly hotel staffs and felt welcome when we arrived at the hotel. Hotel is a little old but well maintained. Both dinner and breakfast options were amazing and the server was extremely friendly, she went above and beyond showing us how to get to Kyoto the next day. You would need a shuttle or taxi to get to the hotel since it’s away from station or bus stop. But overall experience was amazing and will definitely book again if we go Mt Fuji.

The hotel is so nice. Dinner and breakfast ere fantastic. Food looks small but very filling. Staff are so polite and friendly. Hotel has free shuttle bus to take guests to the major interchanges. I could stay there for a week just to explore the surroundings and enjoy the hotel services.

We enjoyed our stay here. They offer a shuttle to and from the train station in the morning (0800-1100, I think) and again from 1400-1700. They have a strict no tattoo policy for the public onsen but do offer a private onsen that can be booked in 30 min increments for a fee. As mentioned by others they do not allow any changes to meals. This wasn't a problem for us and we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. Our room was spacious and clean. The location was very peaceful and serene.

Kaiseki meals were great! It is a must try if you stay here. I would suggest to contact the property to request an upgrade (with not too expensive extra pay) before your stay. It is well worthy it. Hot spring experience is also good but for outsider with bigger body build, the XL size yukata is kind of small. They should prepare a few 2XL or 3XL for foreign visitors

From the moment I was picked up by their private shuttle, I felt very taken care of! I’m a solo traveler & this location & ryokan experience was exactly what I was looking for! The Japanese style room was clean, comfortable & quiet, & I was overwhelmed by the beauty of the lake view! The traditional ryokan breakfast & dinner were delicious & plentiful! They do remind you several times before arrival that this is a set menu, & there are no substitutions, so if you have any food allergies or certain dietary requirements, this may not be the proper place for you. Also, if you have a tattoo, you will need to book a private onsen time. I appreciated that the staff are wonderfully courteous & welcoming, & I do appreciate their policy of keeping track of every guest when one leaves the premises for an outing by turning in room key, then picking it back up when returning. The location is wonderful if you would like to be away from much of the tourist traffic. My dream of a clear day & view Mt.Fuji from atop their premises was magical! Thank you Wakakusa no Yado Maruei Ryokan!

Wakakusa no Yado Maruei gave us an unforgettable ryokan experience. We visited in mid‑May, and the staff’s warmth stood out from the moment we arrived. Even though we came early, they checked us in using a translation app, stored our bags, and welcomed us back enthusiastically at check‑in. We were treated to green tea and manju in the lobby bar, which made us feel like VIPs. Our bags were already in our room when we arrived. The room was spacious by Japanese standards, with an entry area, leather slippers, double sinks, a shower, a separate toilet room with its own slippers, a living area, and a tatami sleeping space facing beautiful Lake Kawaguchi. The futon bedding was very comfortable. The hotel has three onsen areas—indoor, outdoor, and a private one. We booked the private onsen in the afternoon as recommended, and the view of Mount Fuji was spectacular. We were lucky to have clear weather, making the experience even more special. Our in‑room kaiseki dinner was a highlight. Each of the many small dishes was beautifully prepared, including an aperitif from a local winery. Breakfast the next morning was just as impressive, with gorgeous presentation and thoughtful service. While Japanese people are known for their polite and respectful manner, the staff at Wakakusa no Yado Maruei truly go above and beyond. This was our first ryokan experience, and I would absolutely return for the serene room, the wonderful food, and the exceptional hospitality.
