NOT NEAR THE AIRPORT. IN A BAD NEIGHBORHOOD. 3 DAYS, NO MAID SERVICE, INCLUDING TRASH. We got in at midnight forst day, so got down to breakfast at 8:30. No coffee, No eggs, a few pieces of sausage. Asked for food. Kitchen guy said kitchen was closing in a few minutes, (at nine) and there was no point in refilling hot or cold food. I complained to front desk so he snarled and put half frozen cheese omelets on warmer. Next 2 days front desk guy was running front desk AND kitchen alone. This guy was cheerfully handling complaints, coffee refills, trash, you name it. This guy needs to be promoted to a better property and position and whoever is running this property needs to be fired. Company needs to stop labeling this as an "airport" property. It's in a very seedy neighborhood. Just my daughter and I. Scared to go out without a taxi.

The property was clean and neat but room had stains on floor and window curtains. The AC unit was loud and kept shutting down making the room hot. Had to keep getting my keys reset due to not working. Refrigerator kept making loud rattleing noise all night long. Beds felt like i was sleeping on plywood. Woke up with hip pain all night long. Washer and dryer were not working. Staff were very friendly, breakfast was good. Started to run out of food items as the stay came to an end. Overall it was a clean friendly hotel but rooms were not comfortable.

Second time we have stayed here. Great hotel! Transport to/from airport. Clean. Good breakfast. Nice patio in back of hotel overlooks Delaware River. Nice place to sit and relax. Staff and front desk very friendly and helpful! We definitely will stay there again next time we go to Philly

The pancake machine was awesome! The vending machine only worked for bottled water. Locals hung outside on the side of the hotel at night by the water doing drugs,I could see them from my window.

Shuttle was prompt for pick up at airport. Easy check in with kind staff. Busy day with lots of flights cancelations due to weather. We did lose power in the hotel for awhile this evening.

This hotel was pretty tired with few amenities. It is in a very unusual location sandwiched between two historical sites (an early quarantine hospital that was a pre Ellis Island place to process immigrants in the nineteenth century and a site commemorating an early Swedish settlement in the area). The hotel itself however, is dominated by a huge and very ugly parking lot. It is right next to the Delaware River but apparently no architect was involved in its design because there is not a single window facing the river or the nature preserve that is on the other side! No breakfast, obviously PLENTY of parking, a good location to get into Philadelphia but very few dining options in the immediate area. Very basic and not all that clean...

Our room was very dirty. The smell of mold covered by cheap industrial cleaner hit us first. We noted black stains on the chair and I stood and ate dinner after a long day of traveling. The bathroom was clean but maintenance was sloppy with repairs which made the shower look very uninviting. We really wanted a shower after a long day but couldn’t bring ourselves to use it. We were also placed right by the elevator and heard foot traffic and staff laughing pretty much through the night. We stayed from 7-6:30. Our flight was until 11 but we wanted to get out as soon as possible. When we checked in, I had asked about requesting a shuttle to the airport the next morning. I was told to request it 10 mins before we planned on leaving. We waited over a hour for the shuttle and the driver was rude and drove like his pants were on fire. Next time we will consider flying out of Newark or pay the airports parking fees.

Per Expedia website, it shows 24 hour free round trip airport shuttle on request. This is not accurate, it stops at midnight according to the person we spoke to at the hotel.

Staff were excellent , friendly . The room was dirty and my white socks were brown after walking on the carpet as well as stains all over the carpet . Drapes were all torn bums living outsidey room in the parking lot .generally very noisy room .

Room was very clean. Bed and pillows very comfortable. Carpeting a little worn but not musty or anything like that. Bathroom modern. Shower pressure strong. Free breakfast was excellent—can’t say enough god things about it. Free shuttle on time—driver professional. This was our first time staying at a Holiday Inn Express—will try others based on this stay.

Arrived to check into my hotel room and no one was at the front desk. I had to wait over 15 min for someone to decide they wanted to do their job. There was a bug in my bathroom and a huge water spot on the ceiling. Now I know this isn't a five star hotel but I would of expected it to be a little nicer or at least be bug free. Won't stay here again.

It was clean, had shuttle sevice but an older property. Rooms needed renovation. Breakfast started at 7:00 a.m. i had to get to the airport at 6:30. You should see how many of your customers have to leave before you start breakfast.

The absolute worst hotel experience after spending almost 2 months straight staying in hotels. The walls are paper thin and it’s after midnight and I’ve complained to the front desk 3 times about the noise coming from the adjacent room with still no resolution. I need to get some rest. I considered checking out and relocating to another hotel which gives an indication of how lousy the experience staying here is. This property js what people usually refer to as a dump. Sketchy is a better analogy for this hotel.

Property is ran down. First room assigned had a running toilet. The front desk lady was very nice and accommodating and switched out the room right away but when I arrived in that room I had to report that the curtain was badly ripped. Throughout the night the refrigerator was loud not allowing me to fully rest.

Breakfast should have started at 6. I wasted time looking for the front desk assistant to check me out because no one was at the desk. Someone showed up and told me I can just go. An information like this at booking would help save time. Staff didn’t seem welcoming enough. I expected better for the rate.

Checkin: The receptionist couldn’t find our reservation when we first arrived. I confirmed the last name and she said she had nothing. When I asked her if she would like my Expedia confirmation number she said ‘no, I can’t look it up by that’. I gave her my phone to show her the reservation and she was able to find it. Keys: Only one of the two issued keys worked. Room: The heat was on when we walked in, it’s June. Body wash container was empty. Brown stains on the side of the bed we don’t notice until it was time to check out. “Breakfast”: absolutely horrendous, terrible, disgusting. Dry, old, stale mess. For over $250 dollars for a night and off the beaten path just go somewhere else.

First, let me say that the desk manager was very polite and helpful. We checked in to our first room (101) but there were no lights or power. The second room smelled of a foul odor but we were tired so we did not complain. What infuriated us was that someone (housekeeping?) entered our room the next morning unannounced while my wife was dressing! Unbelievable! I am not a YELP guy but I will tell all my friends and family to keep away from the Holiday Inn Express in Essington!

This hotel was pretty tired with few amenities. It is in a very unusual location sandwiched between two historical sites (an early quarantine hospital that was a pre Ellis Island place to process immigrants in the nineteenth century and a site commemorating an early Swedish settlement in the area). The hotel itself however, is dominated by a huge and very ugly parking lot. It is right next to the Delaware River but apparently no architect was involved in its design because there is not a single window facing the river or the nature preserve that is on the other side! No breakfast, obviously PLENTY of parking, a good location to get into Philadelphia but very few dining options in the immediate area. Very basic and not all that clean...

Property is dated, and does not appear to be in desireable area. View of the Delaware River was very pretty. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful, breakfast was a nice benefit as well.

Room was very clean. Bed and pillows very comfortable. Carpeting a little worn but not musty or anything like that. Bathroom modern. Shower pressure strong. Free breakfast was excellent—can’t say enough god things about it. Free shuttle on time—driver professional. This was our first time staying at a Holiday Inn Express—will try others based on this stay.

It was clean, had shuttle sevice but an older property. Rooms needed renovation. Breakfast started at 7:00 a.m. i had to get to the airport at 6:30. You should see how many of your customers have to leave before you start breakfast.

The woman at the desk was very friendly and helpful. The elevator needed to be vacuumed. The room was nice and clean but there was a prong from something broken off in one of the bathroom outlets. Breakfast was a fail. When I went down the coffee was empty, the decaf was cold, the half and half was empty. There was no eggs or sausage. The butter was empty. We ended up just going out to breakfast. The parking lot was old and run down and the river view from the deck was blocked by an old chainlink fence. It feels very unloved.

I really enjoyed our stay here the staff was friendly, room was nice 2 double beds and was clean and fresh, bathroom clean and sanitized. Breakfast every morning had choice of eggs, bacon, sausage or turkey sausage, cereal, yogurt, apples or bananas. Choice of white or wheat bread, bagels, english muffins for toasting. Also muffins. Coffee station is opposite of breakfast area. Surrounding area is great, nice park and places to eat nearby. Lehman's Tavern is about 3 blocks north on Wanamaker Ave for a great prime rib and seafood, strong cocktails too. Romano's Pizza about a block north on Wanamaker Ave is known for it's Stromboli. I will stay here again. Great people and experience.

Second time we have stayed here. Great hotel! Transport to/from airport. Clean. Good breakfast. Nice patio in back of hotel overlooks Delaware River. Nice place to sit and relax. Staff and front desk very friendly and helpful! We definitely will stay there again next time we go to Philly

Checkin: The receptionist couldn’t find our reservation when we first arrived. I confirmed the last name and she said she had nothing. When I asked her if she would like my Expedia confirmation number she said ‘no, I can’t look it up by that’. I gave her my phone to show her the reservation and she was able to find it. Keys: Only one of the two issued keys worked. Room: The heat was on when we walked in, it’s June. Body wash container was empty. Brown stains on the side of the bed we don’t notice until it was time to check out. “Breakfast”: absolutely horrendous, terrible, disgusting. Dry, old, stale mess. For over $250 dollars for a night and off the beaten path just go somewhere else.

1st room had a musty smell that made me sneeze. 2nd room also had a weird smell and I didn’t figure switching rooms would fix anything. Rooms are just old and smelly. Breakfast was picked over/not refilled. Shower water was barely warm. I couldn't wait to leave in the morning.

Breakfast was ok. We came down late just before the end of breakfast and turkey sausage was dryed out. Egg and cheese omelet was tasteless. Muffins and bagels were good. Juice good. Coffee piping hot and not overly strong.

Our room was very dirty. The smell of mold covered by cheap industrial cleaner hit us first. We noted black stains on the chair and I stood and ate dinner after a long day of traveling. The bathroom was clean but maintenance was sloppy with repairs which made the shower look very uninviting. We really wanted a shower after a long day but couldn’t bring ourselves to use it. We were also placed right by the elevator and heard foot traffic and staff laughing pretty much through the night. We stayed from 7-6:30. Our flight was until 11 but we wanted to get out as soon as possible. When we checked in, I had asked about requesting a shuttle to the airport the next morning. I was told to request it 10 mins before we planned on leaving. We waited over a hour for the shuttle and the driver was rude and drove like his pants were on fire. Next time we will consider flying out of Newark or pay the airports parking fees.

I was fortunate in having a room on the 2nd floor, the elevator was out and staff said had been for awhile. The view was nice, with heat going the sound of the planes was not too noticeable. Bkfast was great, full service. Only problem was my tv would only play Fox News, got a different remote and no change, went to be at 8pm. Quite area, food available and a park to sit or walk in.
