Everything was nice except the property doesn’t have an elevator and you have to carry all your luggage up 2 flights of stairs overall very nice quiet place

Sabrina, Front Desk clerk, was extremely rude and unkind. However, the room was clean and I had no other issues. If rely on wheelchairs or walkers, this hotel is not for you. There are no elevators.

Old building, no elevator, tiny TV. No vent or air conditioning in the bathroom. $20 per pet, per night fee.

It was clean & a decent location. It was a little noisy in the night & a lot of slamming around in the morning. No elevator the older couple with us didn’t like. We would stay there again.

We really liked being able to leave our car on property for the duration of our cruise, for free. The area around the hotel is not nice. Room was old looking, not super clean and looked worn out. But we got what we paid for- inexpensive one night stay and left our car during our week long cruise.

Beds were comfortable but that was about it. It was rundown, toilet barely flushed, bathroom fan didn’t work, water pressure was low, carpet was filthy and stained the bottom of my pants, vending machine was empty, no elevator, and it was very over priced.

This was the worst place that I have ever stayed. Facility did not have a elevator. The are was not in the best part of town. The advertisement and pictures are deceiving. Expedia should take this off of their listings. I am not exaggerating.

Room was disgustingly dirty. People yelling and crying all night. Cancelled our stay after the first night and found somewhere else to stay for the rest of our trip. Would Not recommend.

The room was a little dated but super clean, comfy bed and quiet area not far from downtown. The staff were great to deal with too :)

This is an affordable, clean, and pet friendly hotel. Not too far from Downtown. The room was clean, but is outdated. We had no issues with noise. There is no elevator only stairs.

The entire place had a funny smell. All the furniture, towel racks, bed, etc. were falling apart and you had to be very careful with them to make sure they did not break. The carpet was obviously not cleaned. There were left over pieces of food on the carpet and questionable stains on furniture in room from previous guests. The water pressure in the shower was very low. These are just a few of the many issues that we had while we stayed. Would not recommend.

I used to work at this location when it was still part of the Naval Base in New Orleans… that was in 2006-2008. Even though the interior of the building has been “renovated” there is still A LOT that seems in disrepair. The tub was old and peeling, the kitchenette only had 1 plate, 1 fork and spoon and 1 cup eventhough the room sleeps up to 4….We had to walk in our shoes because the carpet was so dirty our socks turned black. Again we were a family of 4 and only 1 set of towels was available in the room. When asked for more we were initially given one set until I reminded the desk clerk that we had 4 people… I was given one more set and gave up. We stayed here because of the reviews and because when I left the building was in great shape…. Not sure what happened for it to go downhill. The pro to staying here is the location! Minutes from downtown and also from all of the amenities on the Westbank. It was “bearable” for 2 nights….But I would probably not pick this place again!

Room 158... stayed here 3 nights. This place is not worth $100 a night!! Maybe $50, but no more than $70!! The pics advertised are not what you get! Worn out furniture, bad smell in the room, roaches, damp carpet, fridge didn't work, dirty walls and floor, clogged sink, peeling tub, smelly a/c, etc. Fridge wasn't working. Found that it needed to be plugged in. Plug it in and it leaked water every. Couldn't get anyone to clean it up. Asked for a different fridge and was told since it was late, we would get a different one in the morning. The next day, was told they didn't have a replacement. Asked to be moved to another room and was told there's nothing available. Day 2, the bathroom sink stops up and fills with dirty water. Reported it twice and no one came to fix it. Couldn't use the sink anymore. Roaches in kitchen, on bed headboard (carrying an egg), in the restroom. I can say the bed closest to the window was comfortable. The outside was ok. The naval base across the street hasn't been up and running in years. It's definitely an eye sore. Homeless people wander the street. Area doesn't appear safe. Didn't have the money to go elsewhere and trying to get a refund through expedia is a hassle. We will never stay here again.

Great location for West Bank. Clean, large rooms.

We reserved two rooms. One room didn’t have hot water. The carpet was so dirty my beige socks were completely black after a very short time. Pillows were so thin and worn. Base of toilets were nasty. Very old property that is very long over due for a face lift.

After checking in, I reported to the front desk that the tile floor in the bathroom and kitchen were extremely slippery (as if they had been greased). The person at the desk stated that she would send someone to“..wipe it up.” It was never addressed. It was so dirty, both my husband’s and my clean socks became literally blackened from the floor’s filthy surface. We could not wait to check out!

Overall, very good. The rooms are a bit dated and some obvious wear is evident. My chair had the back ripped, wear and scrpae marks on the wall and furniture wand carpet worn. Painted side of bathtub peeling badly and some rust on metal door frame of bathroom. But the bed was comfortable, Heat worked well and the area is QUIET. Only 3 minute drive to the ferry that takes you to downtown. One big minus, no restaurants around anywhere.

The rooms are HUGE. The staff is friendly and helpful. The kitchenette and bathroom facilities need a major scrub/paint facelift OR complete replacement.

It was perfectly fine for what it was. We decided to extend a stay in New Orleans for just one night and waited to find a place to crash at the last minute that wasn’t expensive. This place did the job. It’s quiet and secure. The room is actually pretty big and there’s space to do a little work if you need. But it’s definitely no frills and very old. Water pressure in the shower was almost nonexistent. Hair dryer was broken. Towels were small, thin, and rough. Pillows were small and lumpy and gave almost no support. None of this really bothered us for just one night but I wouldn’t want to stay much longer!

An older hotel so concidering was as expected. Issues with water pressure and some of the light switches were iffy. Room was clean and spacious. The area was quite and restful.

There was a large area of chipped paint on one wall of our room. The “leather” on the desk chair was shredded. And I’m not sure what was going on with the bathtub. It appeared that the finish on the front was peeling or melting. We were only given one bar of soap which we kept moving back and forth between the sink and tub. There was no service to our room before the second night i.e. our beds weren’t made and towels weren’t refreshed. I’m not sure if this was an oversight or their policy. They don’t offer breakfast. This IS a budget accommodation so we weren’t expecting a lot but they didn’t meet our low expectations. I really don’t know how they have a 4.1 customer rating.

Beds are comfortable. Bathroom toilet leaked, water pressure very low . Keys for door only worked for one day, than was told could only get one for the next day.

Wonderful place for our budget! The rooms are spacious and comfortable. It’s a convenient location. We are glad we chose this for our stop in New Orleans.

Very outdated the microwave was falling out of the cabinet. The sink in the bathroom was plugged from the moment we got there.

I really enjoyed interacting with the Staff. They were very courteous and helpful to any concerns that I had, and responded immediately and professionally!

The property was very clean and received personal care from Brittany. She offered us a paper with phone numbers of restaurants around. No hotel has ever done that. Great person Brittany is.

Staff was very rude for not having actual credit Card on hand! I booked my stay online through Expedia many of times and was never asked for my actual credit card only my drivers license so I was never aware of them needing that!

Lady working the lobby was extremely nice and very helpful. Helped us accomdate an early arrival and even helped confim my car doors were locked as we were on way via rideshare to get on a cruise ship

Everything was great except the new girl at the check in desk! She was very rude, because I wasn’t aware of needing to have my actual credit card for check in. I’ve stayed at the federal many times and only ever needed my drivers license. I always book my stay the same way through Expedia.

We always stay here when in NOLA. Even though it's across the river from what many visitors deem to be "New Orleans." (It's in the neighborhood of Algiers.) The staff here is always friendly/helpful, the rooms spacious and clean. What keeps it from a 5-star is just small maintenance stuff. Over the years, there might be a bathroom sink light out, or a towel rack that needs to be re-attached more securely to the wall. That kind of stuff. But every visit there is something small that needs attention. This particular visit the luggage carts were practically unusable and we definitely needed them as we had a bunch of things with us. I would love to see maintenance attend to the small stuff because I love this place and want to see it keep it's status as a great place to stay. We definitely recommend the Federal City Inn & Suites and stay here year after year!

The location is excellent. The front desk staff was great, except for one lady that works day shift. Quality has gone down since my last stay some years ago. All you get on the beds is a very thin comforter that is not good for much warmth. Our room had a sofa sleeper and they didn't even provide the thin comforter. What they gave you was an extra bottom mattress cover that was extremely itchy. The toilet rocked on its base and the toilet seat slid because it was not firmly attached either, but at least we were able to get the handicap accessible bathroom that was needed. Not enough towels were provided for everyone in the room and when I went to the front desk to request more I was told that I had to wait until housekeeping arrived to ask them for towels. Thank goodness my daughter packed some. So poor service, however it may be just this one unpleasant front desk clerk. Lastly, 5 day stay. Room cleaned only once, however housekeeping did make it a point to steal all of my neatly stacked cans that I was recycling 2 days AFTER actually cleaning the room. When I reported it to the front desk, yes, the not so nice clerk, responded that housekeeping must have thought that it was trash. When I explained to her that they were neatly stacked and arranged in a certain pattern on the counter so it couldn't be mistaken for trash she just blew me off by going back to her computer. Would I book again? Probably so, but I would be better prepared.

After driving over 15 hours, we really appreciated that the Front Desk Agent allowed us to check-in about 3 hours early without any qualms. That was great customer service!!!

Rooms clean. Shower was ok. Hot water limited and not as hot as I like. It was fine for those who only use a room to sleep. The location was perfect for us. We walked to the ferry in the morning and walked back late at night. So hotel was a good price for a good room.

Very quiet neighbourhood. Algiers passenger ferry gives great access to downtown.

This was great and unexpected find!This is a quiet, unassuming little hotel in a former Navy Base. The area is safe and you'll avoid the chaotic traffic surrounding the city. Driving to the dock to take the ferry takes no more than 5 minutes (35 minute walking) and there's free parking in the area. Another 5 minutes in the ferry and you're in downtown New Orleans without the stress, after enjoying nice views of the city from the ferry. The rooms are spacious and clean with comfortable beds for a good night's sleep. There's also a kitchenette. Very nice and helpful staff. Some details can be improved, but overall this is a great value for the price. We could have easily spent double or triple for our stay at any of the other hotels downtown. By being flexible we were able to enjoy New Orleans without breaking the bank. The whole experience was very good.

I liked that public transportation was close by, it was quiet and close to the french quarter. I didn't like that there wasn't free coffee

Would stay here again. Felt very safe for being New Orleans. Wish they had breakfast, pool is outside across the street only open for summer.

No place to get food. It looked abandoned. The lady at the front desk is super unfriendly. We had to walk a mile to get any food. Then it was just a small takeout taco place. AVOID
