Lorna Doone Cottage Lynmouth

This is a beautiful period building set back overlooking the river. It was quiet and peaceful, and the breakfast is fabulous. The rooms are cosy and clean and you get a good nights sleep. Easy walking distance into Lynmouth and the cliff railway. We didn't use the car at all. Valley of the rocks is a woodland / coastal path walk away (steep) but fine for anyone able to do it. We loved our stay.

A lovely clean room overlooking the river , Russell and Nicky are excellent friendly hosts!! Nothing was too much trouble, breakfast was excellent! Will stay again as it’s in an ideal location for walking into town and exploring the area.

Beautiful location right on the river, just a few minutes walk from the beach and village. Nicky and Russell were welcoming, room was comfortable, and the breakfast was great. A lovely stay.

Nice place overall - clean and well kept. Owners are nice and friendly. The bad part is the sleep situation. For the room we had, there was a very bright security light from the neighbouring property up the hill, and the light shone onto the thin curtains of our room, and when the tree branches moved inbetween it created quite a light show in our room. There was a 2nd security light in the garden right behind which would come on intermittently, it was very bright and lit up the whole room, this happened throughout the night, maybe because of wind. Then the owners also have a dog, which barks very loudly and a bit too often. The dog was quiet at night though, except when the owners went out one night and he barked for 90 minutes solid. So those are the bad bits, we came away feeling a little sleep deprived. But I expect some of the other rooms don't face these issues. The location is good, and breakfast was nice.
