We enjoyed the historical feel of the hotel. Breakfasts were really good, too, and we appreciated the tea and snacks that were available all the time. The parking lot was not easy to find and there was no place to temporarily stop the car and look for it.

Incredibly friendly staff. We were on the 3rd floor and there was a keirig in the hallway. Very convenient in the early morning. Breakfast was made to order. Snacks available all day😁

For a 200 year old property it was a fantastic comfortable stay. Be prepared for no closets (at least in our room). Bed was extremely comfortable. Our room was on the street during the week so it wasn’t too loud. Sit down breakfast, snacks, ice water, coffee and tea available all day. Sodas are $1. Wine from 2-4. Lovely people, great service. Excellent location right off King St and about 10 minute walk from the Charleston marketplace. Parking is free in the back.

This is a lovely old historic home that has been converted into a B&B type place. The Breakfast is great! Made to order! And you get a lot of personal touches staying here (the women who run the place remember you, etc.) It is in a great location - easily walkable to main sights, restaurants, etc. But it is on a side street so it is quieter than being on a main street which is very nice. Plus there is parking in the back of the Inn which is convenient. Really enjoyed my stay & I would stay here again!

Great staff, lovely room and common areas. Breakfast was delicious and made to order. One block off King St. for shopping, and conveniently located to College of Charleston, the market and the riverfront. We walked everywhere! If there was a negative it would be that there is a large parking lot behind the property. Overall, an excellent value and stay!

Great place! The only thing is that there isn’t someone available 24/7 on site, no elevator for getting luggage up to rooms on the third floor and also a evening hour happy/snack time would be great for a place like this. However the cleanliness, comfort and amenities available were amazing for the price. Also great location for walking. Will definitely be back.

Lovely period house with lots of individual furniture. Staff were really friendly and breakfast was made to order, with a decent choice! At 2-4 pm extra snacks and drinks were available during afternoon respite! Lovely courtyard oasis available for breakfast!

Such a charming place to stay in the historic Charleston district. So close to the tour locations and water for the sunset cruise. Amazing friendly staff and the breakfast was AMAZING! Such a wonderful place. No elevator, so you need to carry your luggage up the stairways.

A little different from most bed and breakfast inns we’ve stayed at in the past. The facility is primarily beds and baths, more like a hotel. Common areas, of which there are several, are for dining. One is outdoors in a lovely courtyard. We didn’t meet the owners, just staff members who were running the place. Room was great. Breakfast was good, too. Guests order from a menu so there are a variety of choices. Only negative was being charged to park in the facility’s parking area each night of our stay. Seems that could easily be a free courtesy to guests.

We had a wonderful stay at the Barksdale! The staff was so nice and we really enjoyed the breakfast and snacks. The only downside was how damp the property felt. The dampness made the room smell.

The property was lovely from the outside and inside. A traditional period house. The staff were very good and welcoming. The issue we had was with our room. None of the windows could open and there was a weird sour smell. The room was clean enough apart from the bathroom and toilet room which were in need of refurbishment. Wallpaper falling down, look to be mould on the roof, the toilet seat was peeling and taps damaged and worn down. You did not want to go in there! It was very disappointing as the main room and rest of the hotel was fine. Breakfast was very good. Good car parking outback

Beautiful B&B very well located, walking distance of everything. Smiling staff. Very good breakfast, you can eat light or have a big meal with full of proteins. Just be aware that walls are thin since this is an old house and you can clearly hear people. Guests should be reminded to be quiet when walking in front of rooms especially when late or very early.

Overall a pretty nice place, the staff was very friendly and helpful and the property was in a perfect location for what we were doing. Was a little disappointed with having to pay for parking but that is a minor complaint. We were able to walk pretty much anywhere we wanted to go on this trip, Rainbow Row, French Quarter and other sites were only a short walk as were a ton of restaurants and shopping. My only real complaint would be that we were on the second floor of the carriage house and the air conditioning was a little weak but adequate I suppose, to be fair it was very hot and humid outside. Overall it was a very enjoyable stay and we will definitely be returning.

Check in was easy. The room was massive. They would service the room if requested. Safe, off street private parking. Breakfast was made to order off a full menu and even placed in a box to go or take to your room. This is the best deal for a hotel room on the entire peninsula!

The location was perfect! A few steps away from King Street and walkable to most landmarks that we wanted to see. Safe a nice neighborhood with lots of shops and places to eat. The Inn itself, was charming and comfortable. Awesome hospitality and staff. Great free breakfast and afternoon snacks. The room was a bit small, but comfortable. It is an old house, so expect a bit of sounds...creaky floors, crying baby, barking dog and a few voices. Nothing that interrupted our stay though. Loved everything about it! If you are looking for modern or state of the art facilities then this is not the place for you. For us, we enjoyed the charm, history, home feel that this place provided.

The room was clean and well kept. The room we were in was right next to a parking lot that was a bit noisy at times. I missed having 24 hour access to ice. It was only available from 7-7 and had to ask the staff for it.

Our stay was amazing. Located right between Meeting Street and King Street - close to shops, restaurants and Charleston sites and attractions. The house is very rustic amd wonderfully decorated. Our room was clean and spacious. The staff were very friendly and their breakfast menu (being "continental" and all) was amazing. I wouldnt call it a continental breakfast at all as you could get anything from grits to belgian waffles, including avacado toast. We would definitely stay at Barksdale again.

The accommodations were mediocre. The breakfast was most disappointing. It was a small menu that did not change, offering an egg breakfast, waffles and breakfast sandwich. We could hear the occupants above us walking around all night.

Great location. Just a block off of King Street shopping and a 10 minute walk to Market Street. Staff was friendly and helpful. Very tight parking in the back for $28.50. I only have 2 gripes. 1 - there is no staff on site after 7pm although they do have an emergency number; I would have liked to get some ice in the evening for my room but the ice machine is in the staff only area and I didn't feel that warranted a call to the emergency number. My only other gripe would be that you can hear all the noise from the street during evening hours, which is to be expected and I felt like you had to walk on egg shells in the evening as other than the noise from outside the place was dead silent. Room was clean

The Barksdale House Inn was amazing. The location was perfect, within walking distance of all the sights. The staff was professional and warm and welcoming. Breakfast was always served with a smile and the food was delicious every time. We will highly recommend to friends and family!!

The location is perfect, in the heart of the historic district. We were able to walk everywhere. The staff were friendly and treated us like family. Staying here, felt like home. Aleeyah was especially kind and helpful, answering an array of questions at all hours of the day. We will definitely be back!!

Southern hospitality at its finest. I have been to Charleston several times and never knew this house was here. This was by far the nicest bunch of ladies who went of there way to make sure everyone is comfortable.

overall experience was great. We were able to leave our bags there and go out and explore. check-in process was very easy. breakfast in the morning was excellent. Loved the feel of the place and it was in a great location.

Very good location, close to College of Charleston, King shopping street, city market and many restaurants. Walkable distance to many attractions. Service is great, all the staff there are super friendly and welcoming. Order to cook breakfast and afternoon tea time is a highlight. Will definitely recommend to friends and come back again.

I liked that the location was far enough off the "main drag" so that it wasn't noisy at night, but closed enough to walk to everything I needed.

The location was perfect! A few steps away from King Street and walkable to most landmarks that we wanted to see. Safe a nice neighborhood with lots of shops and places to eat. The Inn itself, was charming and comfortable. Awesome hospitality and staff. Great free breakfast and afternoon snacks. The room was a bit small, but comfortable. It is an old house, so expect a bit of sounds...creaky floors, crying baby, barking dog and a few voices. Nothing that interrupted our stay though. Loved everything about it! If you are looking for modern or state of the art facilities then this is not the place for you. For us, we enjoyed the charm, history, home feel that this place provided.

Our stay was amazing. Located right between Meeting Street and King Street - close to shops, restaurants and Charleston sites and attractions. The house is very rustic amd wonderfully decorated. Our room was clean and spacious. The staff were very friendly and their breakfast menu (being "continental" and all) was amazing. I wouldnt call it a continental breakfast at all as you could get anything from grits to belgian waffles, including avacado toast. We would definitely stay at Barksdale again.

We were there for a wedding and wanted to stay in an inn. The Barksdale exceeded our expectations. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. The breakfasts and afternoon tea (or wine!) was lovely. Perfect location to tour Charleston. Free city bus stop nearby but walkable to area restaurants and historic attractions as well. The included breakfast was wonderful with many choices freshly prepared. We loved this historic home.

A quaint inn with old world charm. The staff is wonderful and the numerous breakfast choices are delicious. There are snacks and drinks available 24/7. So many restaurants and shops are just a short walk away.

The Barksdale house was amazing but more importantly their staff was exceptional. Everyone who worked there during our stay was awesome. The breakfast provided was fantastic. Much more of a complete breakfast than I expected, cooked to order eggs, omelettes, sandwhiches, waffles and so much more. We highly recommend

The accommodations were mediocre. The breakfast was most disappointing. It was a small menu that did not change, offering an egg breakfast, waffles and breakfast sandwich. We could hear the occupants above us walking around all night.

A little different from most bed and breakfast inns we’ve stayed at in the past. The facility is primarily beds and baths, more like a hotel. Common areas, of which there are several, are for dining. One is outdoors in a lovely courtyard. We didn’t meet the owners, just staff members who were running the place. Room was great. Breakfast was good, too. Guests order from a menu so there are a variety of choices. Only negative was being charged to park in the facility’s parking area each night of our stay. Seems that could easily be a free courtesy to guests.

The location is exactly what we needed for walking and catching free Carta bus rides to the waterfront, the Market Hall, the Visitors Center. Having onsite parking is a big plus and a lot less expensive than other hotels. This is a very old building, and the outside is showing signs of age, such as dry rot not being repaired and roof eaves sagging. However, the Carriage House room we had was clean and comfortable, even if not updated. The minisplit ac worked well and quietly, and the room itself was quiet. No street noise. The breakfast provided in the main building was adequate buffet style, scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, yogurt and fruit, breads, etc., and was fine to start the day. Overall, because of the location, and a comfortable bed, we can give three stars. Otherwise, the lack of upkeep and updating may affect your stay. Ours was only two nights so it served our needs.

I enjoyed staying at this bed and breakfast more so than a traditional hotel. The staff were wonderful and I enjoyed the daily breakfast with staff taking orders from the menu provided. I look forward to staying there again in the future.
