All of the food from the free breakfast to the dining options for lunch and dinner were delicious and beautifully presented. It was very fun to stay in a 100 year-old hotel and to walk around the gardens. Taste from the distillery and check out the coffee roasting.

This is a truly unique experience. The grounds are beautifully landscaped; the rooms are large, comfortably furnished, and very private; there is a working farm, a distillery, and a coffee roaster as part of the property; and a terrific restaurant. And it is adjacent to the IncaRail train station.

Amazing location and the hotel has a lot to offer - it has it’s own distillery where you can mix your own bottle of spirit, a small farm where you can enjoy a traditional pachamanca lunch, coffee roastery and a community education project The staff were great and made me feel very welcome, and well as giving me some great suggestions for things to do and see nearby

Quirky, arsty oasis literally on the station platform for Machu Picchu. So comfortable and relaxed. Delicious food sourced from the farm onsite and unusual alcohol also distilled onsite. A real treat.

This was such a unique stay- it may have been my favorite in all of Peru! The gardens are absolutely beautiful and well maintained. The birds and wildlife were so fun to watch. The room was so well appointed and the view from our balcony was breathtaking. There’s a lot to explore on the property and such friendly people to ask questions. A huge plus was being able to leave our luggage here while taking the train to Machu Picchu and having direct access to the train tracks- allowing you to avoid the long lines at the gate.

Excellent place , right on railroad so can be noisy during night , but it is also is the charm about this property . Phenomenal food and breakfast. Beautiful garden and farm . Highly recommend for two nights , Ollantaytambo is beautiful and ruins and walk to ruins is beautiful.

This was such an interesting and convenient place to stay. Right at the train station yet still walkable to the main square. The organic farm is beautiful and tucked away behind the hotel. We enjoyed the distillery and learning about the process. Restaurant food was very good and cocktails were some of the best I’ve had!

This is my second stay at El Aubergue and it never disappoints! Lovely ecofriendly hotel with on site farm to table restaurant and coffee shop directly adjacent to the train to Machu Picchu. Don’t miss the tour of the on site farm! Also, the owner has crafted an elegant and culturally respectful environment that even includes a primary school on the property for children in Ollantaytambo!

Can highly recommend!! Magical hotel that is directly at the train station. There is no disturbance from the trains and feels like an oasis. It’s built in colonial style and has their own organically garden, coffee roastery and alcohol distillery. The room we had was spacious and all of them are surrounded by a wonderful flower and fruit garden. Breakfast is included and offers a small buffet and also a a la carte menu with different types of egg, pancakes and French toasts. 10/10 amazing!

We loved our stay at El Albergue! First off, we were very happy that we decided to stay in Ollantay during our visit to Machu Piccu (rather than Agua Calientes) which is an incredible location in its own right, with beautiful old town, great restaurants, and fantastic archeologic sites. El Albergue is located at the train station which made if very convenient, but also a romantic old-school vibe which we appreciated. We did also take advantage of their distillery and coffee experience and loved both. The staff here were so kind and helpful, couldn't have asked for better. The room was large, clean and comfortable and everything worked great. We ate at the restaurant one night and thought the food was great. We didn't find the sounds of the trains overly intrusive, but we did look for a room facing away from the tracks and that is probably a good idea.. Highly recommend this hotel!

This is a great place located right at the train station in Ollantaytambo, you would think it would be noisy but rooms are set back in a quiet tropical garden setting with farmland just outside the gate. Fantastic staff, clean rooms. Amazing food in the restaurant, short walk to the main square.

We stayed at El Albergue for three nights. The hotel is inside the rail station. First the good - the room we stayed in was spotlessly clean. The restaurant was decent and the wait staff friendly. When we checked out, we were presented with a pair of clay bulls - which was a very nice touch. Our main gripe with our stay is the room we were in. We had booked a superior room with balcony. Hotel’s website described the room as tucked away in the gardens away from the rail station. Our room was tucked in between the rail station and what seemed like a couple of staff only building that emanated hammering noises dawn to dusk. The picture and description of our room say it is a 430 sqft room, consisting of a queen and a twin bed, with a seating area, desk and fireplace. And what looks like a large balcony with a couple of armchairs. Our room only fit one king bed and a desk , no sign of seating area, well short of the 430 sqft that was advertised. We had a balcony that had only one armchair, inadequate for the two of us. Either the hotel’s description is disingenuous or the reception gave us the wrong room. we brought this to front desks attention multiple times, who educated us on their room types and insisted this is the room we booked. The hotel is excellent for a one night stay to or from Machu Picchu. We were hoping to recharge in a beautiful surrounding for a few days, but did not happen. We checked out feeling disappointed and somewhat cheated.

O quarto é grande, cama e banheiro ótimos. Não tem TV, mas quem precisa? WiFi ótimo. Muita natureza. Café da manhã com frutas e suco da região, você pode pedir omelete, tostadas e outras opções para a cozinha. A localização é dentro da estação de trem, o que pode ser uma vantagem caso não queira passear no centrinho da cidade. Se quiser passear até o centrinho, que é ao lado da atração principal (Fortaleza), vai ter que andar uns 800 a 1000 metros ou pegar um tuc-tuc (em maio de 2024 foi 5 soles cada trecho, cerca de 7 reais). Então, ficar dentro da estação não parece ser uma vantagem muito grande. Não fui ao restaurante do hotel, mas dizem que é muito bom.

The wifi connections were spotty. Very tepid water in the showers. But the place is beautiful. Located next to the train station so a lot of smoke comes in to the restaurant throughout the day. The farm in the back is a nice plus.

We loved this property, and its location to the train is perfect. Our only complaint was that there was no a/c. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the restaurant was amazing! They prepared box breakfasts since we were leaving early and held our luggage overnight until we returned from our Inca Trail hike. I highly recommend this property.

Our stay was quite disappointing. While the property is quite attractive and the location by the train was great for an early train departure, the bed was hard, the shower lukewarm at best, and the wifi barely functional (only e-mail worked.) All stuff I wouldn’t really complain about at a lower price point, but this place is priced at the higher end for the location, and I expected better. Most disappointing to me, however, was how unhelpful and unaccommodating the front desk staff was. (Unusual for Peru.) The main reason we booked this hotel was because we had a very early (6:10am) train to Manchu Piccu, and staying at this location was going to buy us a little more time for sleeping. I was very surprised that the hotel didn’t provide breakfast before the train, because literally every other place we stayed at in Peru had early breakfast available for folks who were setting off on early tours. It’s very very common, even at much cheaper hotels. I assume guests must take the early train to MP all the time, but the front desk staff acted like we were the first to have this problem.

We stayed at this hotel twice. We had 2 different rooms. The experience was completely different depending on the room. Our first room was an older room facing the train tracks. It was fun to see the train coming in and hear the music. Unfortunately we were there during the demonstrations so we never actually got to get on the train. We got to experience first hand the chaos of the demonstration. It was surreal that they were putting on the full show even when they knew there was a good chance the trains were going nowhere. The staff at the hotel were great and told us about the situation. I do not think many tourists knew what was going on. We appreciate the staff's honesty. Perurail denied there were any issues. Despite being so close to the chaos. The hotel felt like a safe oasis. The grounds are magical. The gardens are stunning, and the staff work so hard to maintain this gorgeous property. I loved walking around their farm, and taking the farm path to get into town. The restaurant is amazing and I loved the farm to table experience. The quality of food is delicious and fresh. Our second room was more modern. It was very comfortable. I really enjoyed my stay. I appreciated having extra time in Ollantaytambo.

Despite being so close to the chaos. The hotel felt like a safe oasis. The grounds are magical. The gardens are stunning, and the staff work so hard to maintain this gorgeous property. I loved walking around their farm, and taking the farm path to get into town. The restaurant is amazing and I loved the farm to table experience. The quality of food is delicious and fresh. Our second room was more modern. It was very comfortable. I really enjoyed my stay. I appreciated having extra time in Ollantaytambo.

This was such a unique stay- it may have been my favorite in all of Peru! The gardens are absolutely beautiful and well maintained. The birds and wildlife were so fun to watch. The room was so well appointed and the view from our balcony was breathtaking. There’s a lot to explore on the property and such friendly people to ask questions. A huge plus was being able to leave our luggage here while taking the train to Machu Picchu and having direct access to the train tracks- allowing you to avoid the long lines at the gate.

Fabulous hotel. Great staff and superb restaurant. Only little grouse we had was that we got the room bang smack on top of the railway platform. Think pre dawn train sounds and loud live band at train boarding times (a unique Peru Rail feature)! The rooms deeper in the property would not have that issue. Lovely flora and views inside too. Overall a very nice little hotel. Would happily go back again.

Located in the train station, it was great for our arrival late at night from Aguas Calientes. If you are planning to visit Ollantaytambo you will have to walk a bit to hit the town. The property is well maintained, beautiful gardens between the buildings. The room was comfortable and the decoration was colonial style.

We loved our stay at El Albergue! First off, we were very happy that we decided to stay in Ollantay during our visit to Machu Piccu (rather than Agua Calientes) which is an incredible location in its own right, with beautiful old town, great restaurants, and fantastic archeologic sites. Our stay was quite disappointing. While the property is quite attractive and the location by the train was great for an early train departure, the bed was hard, the shower lukewarm at best, and the wifi barely functional (only e-mail worked.) This hotel is beautiful and the staff are so nice and friendly. Helen went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. The room is spacious and beautifully decorated. The view is amazing. The Breakfast and dinner were delicious and delicious. I highly recommend this hotel.

The place looks adorable but the problem with this place is that you smell diesel fuel all night long and you hear the train bell ring and the horn go off all night long. Staff is a little deceiving as they tried to add extra things to your bill and services. We asked the staff to weigh our laundry so we know how much to pay them for washing it. I watched her go around the corner and lay it down and then come back within one second and gave us a weight. As soon as she left, thinking, that was a little too quick I went around the corner to see the weight and it was not there so she made up the weight. The weight seemed way heavier than what it felt to me so we got gouged a little more that way as well.

Our room was on the 2nd floor with Mountain View, one of the furthest away from the train station. With the windows open on 2 sides of the room, you can smell the fragrant angel trumpet plant. It was stunning. El Albergue also arranged guide service for us including transportation from Cusco airport and four 1/2 days of guided service including Macchu Pichu and train tickets. WELL worth it! Our guide was so knowledgeable. Highly recommend this hotel.

Everything was lovely- the staff, rooms, breakfast buffet and grounds. The best was the location. It is literally along the train tracks where you catch the train to Machu Picchu (PeruRail, Inca and the luxury train). Do ask them about the path to take into the town center out the back of the hotel.

This is a great place located right at the train station in Ollantaytambo, you would think it would be noisy but rooms are set back in a quiet tropical garden setting with farmland just outside the gate. Fantastic staff, clean rooms. Amazing food in the restaurant, short walk to the main square.

This was such an interesting and convenient place to stay. Right at the train station yet still walkable to the main square. The organic farm is beautiful and tucked away behind the hotel. We enjoyed the distillery and learning about the process. Restaurant food was very good and cocktails were some of the best I’ve had!

The property is delightful and best yet is located in the PeruRail station along the tracks where you board your train to Machu Picchu. Also, ask about the path in back of the property that takes you to the city center and Ollantayambo Archeological Site only 10 minutes walk away. Wonderful hotel!

All of the food from the free breakfast to the dining options for lunch and dinner were delicious and beautifully presented. It was very fun to stay in a 100 year-old hotel and to walk around the gardens. Taste from the distillery and check out the coffee roasting.

Everything about El Albergue is incredible. Beautiful rooms and outdoor sitting areas, comfy bed, wonderful service. The entire property is spectacular with gardens, a distillery and coffee roasting. The morning breakfast was perfect before a day of exploring Ollantaytambo. The close proximity to the train station was also a plus! Oh and the restaurant and Cafe Mayu...So good! I hope I can return one day as I just loved the warmth of this hotel as well as the town of Ollantaytambo.

We loved this property, and its location to the train is perfect. Our only complaint was that there was no a/c. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the restaurant was amazing! They prepared box breakfasts since we were leaving early and held our luggage overnight until we returned from our Inca Trail hike. I highly recommend this property.

La experiencia general fue agradable pero todavía el desayuno salió malo. Aunque el desayuno se empiezara a las 6am llegamos en esta hora para comer y no había nada listo para servir. El equipo intentó hacer algo improvisado pero como teníamos el tren a las 6.40 solo logramos salir con un paquete con tostado y huevos.

Very cute and convenient when taking the train to MP at 6 am. We paid a lot of money for the food for the Christmas Eve dinner and it wasn’t good at all. Wasted our money. Other than that, it was a good place

Can highly recommend!! Magical hotel that is directly at the train station. There is no disturbance from the trains and feels like an oasis. It’s built in colonial style and has their own organically garden, coffee roastery and alcohol distillery. The room we had was spacious and all of them are surrounded by a wonderful flower and fruit garden. Breakfast is included and offers a small buffet and also a a la carte menu with different types of egg, pancakes and French toasts. 10/10 amazing!
