Travelodge by Wyndham Port Elgin

The hot tub was really dirty, a ring of scum and dirt floating. The room was fine, very quiet, it would be nice to have flooring instead of the old carpet. When our room was made up, we didn’t get more shampoo and coffee and had to ask for these things. The shining star is the restaurant attached to the motel. Very reasonable prices and great food with friendly service.

The pool was drained and closed. We booked our stay here because they had a pool and hot tub. The hot tub was 92° and when we asked them to increase the tempature they just ran a hose with hot tap water into it until it reached 95° then told us that was it... Coffee maker in room was absolutely disgusting. Staff barely spoke english. There was sketchy people coming and going from the parking lot and other rooms all night, aswell as using drugs in the parking lot. We will NEVER return to Port Elgin Travel Lodge.

The lady at the front desk was wonderful at check in. The location is very handy but the room we stayed in wasn’t the cleanest. We were in the outer rooms. The bathroom had a big spider web with dead bugs in it in the corner. The curtains had dead bugs stuck to them. Sadly the pool wasn’t open due to a leak and other issues. A fresh coat of paint would do a world of good on the rooms. Would we stay there again??? Only if we could see the room first.

Very nice hot tub, pool and shower facilities.

The staff were nice. There are stores around which make it convenient. The pool and hot tub were great as well. The breakfast in the morning was fast and tasted great.

The swimming pool and hot tub were not useable because they were very dirty. The front desk staff were indifferent to this serious issue.

The Motel was Clean, Quite and suitable for the price. The pool wasn't heated, a tad cool,hot tub could have been hotter.All in All it was OK! .

The room did not ferl clean. We found a previous tenant water bottle. Ran out of toilet paper

I was so impressed by the cleanliness of the room I stayed in!! There were lots of toiletries provided, and overall I would highly recommend this property.

The room was clean and nice amenties for bath and shower. Bed was good and AC and small fridge worked well. The only thing we could say was that the laminate floor was a little dirty . All in all, we plan on staying there again.

Close to Walmart. Located in town. Unfortunately the rooms just really smelled of mold and mildew. It was a heavy wet stink that was just inescapable. The bathroom was clean but the carpets were disgusting and the chairs just had these gross wet stains on them. It was nice that their was air conditioning and it was strong but the mildew was just awful.

Only stayed for one night, but it was a comfortable stay. The room was clean and tidy, bathrooms were clean, and the beds were comfy. Eating at the diner as a local guest gets you 20% off. That was a nice treat! Staff were friendly and helpful.

I stayed for 2 nights, August 5th and August 6th/25.The rooms are very, very outdated. For what you pay each night they should be a little more modern... The room was quite musty smelling, but nothing a little febreeze couldn't get rid of and the reason for that I believe is the carpets (also very old and in need of replacing). People walking in with wet and sandy feet. I left my shoes at the door almost didn't want to..There should not be carpets on these floors, at least not in a beach location. That's probably what gives it the smell very outdated décor the chairs look like they were from the 40's. and some of the pictures maybe older. The bedding & curtains dingy and all old.... Considering you're just there to sleep.I guess it was okay. I do feel they should be putting a lot more $$$ in to Improving and updating the facility.I did notice that there was some construction going on.So maybe they are in the process of doing so but that was just in the pool and hot tub area. I don't think I will be back unless they do a complete overhaul of the décor. I will definitely look for something a little more modern better maintained. Internet access was easy to connect, but weak at times. Yes it's the beach but they should be able to maintain and keep it clean and fresh.Overall my stay was ok. If you're just looking for a place to spend the night, I guess it's okay if you're looking for something a little more comfortable, you decide. Enjoy your vacation wherever you stay.

The air conditioner leaked all over the floor and soaked it. After reporting this, nothing was done about the wet floor. The curtains have small holes in them, and one pillow was missing a cover. The hair dryer blew out when I used it. The staff was very nice, but the hotel needs an injection of money to make it a little nicer, and it needs to be cleaned better. There was dust all over the wires behind the end tables.

Not clean, the bed sheets were dirty. The air conditioner is very noisy.

Beds were very comfortable. Wifi was not reliable which was frustrating. Checkin/out staff was very nice.

This place is a bit older but kept up about the same as most places. It is quite here. The pool and hot tub area is well kept and clean. The location is within walking distance from dining and shopping. I will stay again.

This was a pretty basic hotel. It was showing a bit of age, but was clean and tidy. We appreciated the in-room fridge, though the freezer was quite iced up. We stayed in the pool building. As mentioned by other reviewers, the room had a very high humidity level and a musty smell. Perhaps the North building doesn't have that problem. The plush carpet was a bit offputting in this setting, but we slept well so overall not a bad choice for the price.

Nice large room with comfortable bed. Lighting was a bit too low for my husband who has some vision issues and we wanted to play games. We called the front desk and they very quickly brought us extra lighting. Thank you.

Room had AC unit in the exterior wall, wouldn't cool most of the day. Started cooling after 8pm, loud as an airplane, then was cold like a fridge and had to be turned off completely overnight. Same the next day. Bathroom doorknob was completely loose, on the verge of falling off. Bathroom itself looked like a poor reno, sink faucet loose and felt like it would come off with minimal effort. After it rained the parking lot was a lake, soaked feet when loading the vehicle for check-out.

Very dated and worn rooms

Room was clean and beds were comfortable. Was pleasantly surprised. Liked the fact they offer 2 queen beds and not double size. With a family of 4, you need the extra space. Would stay there again.

-Hotel was in a good location -Did pre-check-in online (as offered by hotel earlier in the day by Text msg & email) -Arrived at hotel, and had to re-do everything I did in the pre-checkin online. Which made the pre-checkin a waste of my time. -Room Keys did not work, had to go get them re-programmed -WIFI did not work, went to front desk, Agent claimed it was working, I told him to check again, and he said oh. I guess its not... So he did something on computer, and said there its fixed. Nope not fixed. Or the WIFI & internet was just crap? I did a speedtest, less than 1MB. So All the work i needed to get done on my laptop, I could not do. -Next morning, I just checked out early and went across street to MCD to use there WIFI, which worked perfectly. -For Me having reliable WIFI is Extremely Important, as Im staying for Business. I will not return to this hotel in the future because of this.

We stayed at this location for two nights. The room we were in the first night had non-functional air conditioning. We spoke to the front desk the next day and as they had no comparable rooms available,they upgraded us into another room for free. Certainly service is fantastic here. If you have an opportunity to go to the attached café, the food there is very good for breakfast and lunch, and there’s a discount for hotel guests.

I had issues checking in early even though I called the evening before nd was told I could check in and get a room key. Which is all I wanted. I did not want into the room. The lady just argued and couldn’t get it through her head that all I wanted was a room key as was going to be late getting back to my room. The bed was comfy. Not enough plug ins to plug coffee maker in The clock didn’t work. Would probably not go back to there to stay.

We had booked a king room with pool access And didn’t get it. When we asked for that room the staff just refused to do anything.

First off once we arrived the place was closed when I had called to let them know I would be arriving late. I would be coming in late from my flight. I had to wait about 10 minutes before somebody showed up to open the front door once we were given our rooms one of the rooms were not even cleaned and had already been slept in and used, and I needed to sleep in my friends room that night as they were fully booked. When I informed them this, they apologize and stated that another worker had given me the room and they will get another room for me. The TV did not work the first night as there was no TV box in the room I needed To Find the person the following day and informed them that both rooms did not have TV access. Overall, I would not return, but if you need a quick place to lay your head, this will do the job.

The staff is top notch. Parking and the location is good. Tv was not working at all despite the nice lady at front desk to help us out very kindly.

Enjoyed overnight stay at Travelodge Port Elgin. Check-in experience could have been better as I had to wait for about 45 mins to be given a room as they were still cleaning the room. I understand, delay might have been on account of long weekend rush. Still, a room ready at check-in is expected. Hope they hire more cleaning staff around rush times to minimize inconvenience

I liked the complimentary coffee and tea at the hotel. I thought the rooms need to be cleaned a bit better - the doors, windows. And most outlets in my room were not working.

I would consider this a modest motel. Not many hotel choices in Port Elgin. Price seems high, but I get this is a tourist town for peak beach season. Room was clean, beds small, furniture dated. Couldn’t change channels on the cable TV. Need better pillows (suggest MyPilllow). Excellent homemade breakfast with 20% discount. I would still book again for convenience.

This is an older property that shoes its age. the room I was in was clean and had been modernized. the staff was very friendly. The Sunrise Cafe attached to the motel is great value with good food and friendly staff.
