Lovely place with parking just across the hotel. The staff and local people were very friendly and made us welcome. It is the traditional pub with great breakfast and lovely staff. Just a little comment in terms of the room we had, it could do with the shower repaired but but all customer comforts met. Well done.

Whilst it is an old style English pub, our room (4) had a King size bed along good sized ensuite with walk-in shower. The wifi worked well and the TV though small had a good coverage of UK TV channels. Breakfast was made to order with our meal of both day were very good. We thought it was the best coffee during our 2 nights stay that we have experienced in 4 weeks in the UK. Parking was outside the entrance or if busy, additional parking is available across the road in a newly bitumen car park. Looking forward for a return stay.

Really friendly pub with lovely food and some decent ales on tap. Nice quiet location and great value for money. Very accommodating attitude for storage of my bike overnight (I was invited to bring it in so it could be locked inside overnight). Landlord Mark is very friendly and hard working as is Andy who was attentive and accomodating. The room was good value for the price charged and the bar and restaurant were clean and cosy. The food menu was quite extensive with plenty of choice. The Sunday lunch we chose was not quite to our liking as we like our roasts well cooked and crunchy potatoes, but not crunchy vegatables (aldente). Having said that, the breakfast is first rate and generous. Well worth travelling for and included in the room price if you are staying the night. Overall, an enjoyable stay with friendly staff and we would visit again if in the area.

We were greeted warmly with clear information as to facilities and services available. Requests were dealt with positively immediately. There was a wide choice on menu, food was excellent and service good. Accommodation has a tired dated appearance but was comfortable and met our needs. Note had been taken that we had requested secure storage for our bikes and that was arranged.

The hotel bar was welcoming and the staff very friendly and helpful. My room was clean and tidy and well appointed. The fish and chips in the restaurant were top notch and the price was exceptionally reasonable. Would definately recommend ;o)

A country inn in a tiny village without any shops. Clean rooms and comfortable beds. A bit of a hidden gem. Quiet and very well run by proprietor who is also a very good cook. Have stayed about 3 times now.

A fabulous stay in this lovely country inn in a quiet village on the Suffolk/Norfolk border. Perfectly located for exploring the Suffolk coast and countryside and the Norfolk Broads. A wonderful welcome from Mark and his team. Nothing was too much trouble and the lovely breakfasts set you up for the day. Great sized comfortable en-suite room. The pub is at the heart of the village community and is excellent value for money.

The staff went out of their way to ensure that we had an enjoyable stay. We were out and about most of the time and just needed a place to sleep. The rooms were comfortable and clean and we all slept well. The breakfast was delicious and the portion sizes were generous (a bit too generous for some of us!). It’s located in a lovely quiet little village that we would have liked to see more of.

Staff were lovely and bar area looked okay but the room was very tired with very dirty carpet but the bed was very clean as was the bathroom however there was no shower! There was a shower screen but no actual shower. There was also a very noisy generator as a view from the window. Definitely very overpriced!

Staff were excellent. Dinner was top rate and breakfast just as good with generous portions. My room was clean and the bed was comfortable, water was hot and the shower worked very well. The only minus points were that my triple room was cramped even for two and the ensuite had no ventilation. However the good points made up for this.

All the staff friendly and helpful. I liked the character beams and wall beams in the period property. Lovely huge comfy bed. My arthritic hands could barely turn the bathroom sink taps on and off as the taps were very stiff. I was cold in the night and early morning and wished there was a room heater I could control myself. The toilet flush took a long time to fill. But on the whole a pleasant stay, thank you very much.

Beautiful old country pub hotel in a gorgeous corner of Suffolk. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Bed was comfortable, shower worked well. Food was great. Service was quick and friendly. Would stay again .

Another review of this delight in Mendham, a very convenient and pleasant village pub well situated for anyone working in the east of Suffolk/ Norfolk. Great breakfast, great host, pleasant atmosphere, good evening meals. Very good value for money.
Another review of this delight in Mendham, a very convenient and pleasant village pub well situated for anyone working in the east of Suffolk/ Norfolk. Great breakfast, great host, pleasant atmosphere, good evening meals. Very good value for money.

What a hidden gem! Have just stayed here for 2 nights as I was working in the area at a festival and Mark the owner from the outset was so helpful with directions/ my late check in and kept me updated with pictures on how to enter the hotel. The room was cozy and did just the job for my 2 night work stay. Also the breakfast and coffee… top notch!!!

Really friendly pub with lovely food and some decent ales on tap. Nice quiet location and great value for money. Very accommodating attitude for storage of my bike overnight (I was invited to bring it in so it could be locked inside overnight). I had to skip breakfast to get somewhere so they made me a packed lunch to take away with me. Totally unexpected but very appreciated. Would definitely stay there again.

Landlord Mark is very friendly and hard working as is Andy who was attentive and accomodating. The room was good value for the price charged and the bar and restaurant were clean and cosy. The food menu was quite extensive with plenty of choice. The Sunday lunch we chose was not quite to our liking as we like our roasts well cooked and crunchy potatoes, but not crunchy vegatables (aldente). Having said that, the breakfast is first rate and generous. Well worth travelling for and included in the room price if you are staying the night. Overall, an enjoyable stay with friendly staff and we would visit again if in the area.

Enjoyed our stay. Building rustic upstairs but service was excellent and very attentive. Parking area could be larger. All staff were very helpful and made our stay very comfortable.

A fabulous stay in this lovely country inn in a quiet village on the Suffolk/Norfolk border. Perfectly located for exploring the Suffolk coast and countryside and the Norfolk Broads. A wonderful welcome from Mark and his team. Nothing was too much trouble and the lovely breakfasts set you up for the day. Great sized comfortable en-suite room. A good night's sleep is assured in a characterful room with beams. Ideal for a walking holiday, as there are miles of wonderful footpaths all around. Beautiful scenery near a river. There is really a "Far From The Madding Crowd" ambience in this unspoilt village.

Lovely quiet and pretty location. Superb staff provided a friendly welcoming service. Breakfasts very generous with lots of options. Good evening meal selection. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Would really recommend to others and would stay again ourselves.

This is a beautiful, quaint hotel in a small village. Very friendly staff, good dinner in their restaurant, and an excellent breakfast to start the next day. Not the easiest place to find (we are using a paper map, not GPS) but worth the effort.

Another night in the 'go to' location for a business trip to this lovely part of the world. Rural, quiet, comfortable, very reasonably priced, good breakfast, relaxed and homely. Conveniently placed for a work visit, in very easy reach of Diss and Eye, the 143 and the 140.

As usual - great. Comfortable bed, good shower (Room 1), really good food, top class hospitality (Thanks Mark & Lisa (oh, and Uncle Dave and Alan)). The evening menu is good and tasty, and the portions large: breakfast here is a great start to your day.

We wanted a comfortable, old English BnB with a nice pub downstairs and this fit the bill! Owner was super friendly and helpful, served up a huge and tasty full English breakfast in the warm, historic dining room attached to the pub. The area was quiet and beautiful with an old church down the road. Couldn't have asked for anything more.

Comfortable and quiet stay, nice big bed! One or two minor attention to detail points, but generally good. Nice friendly bar and food was excellent including a lovely breakfast. Village carpark a few metres away. Good value for the money.

A delightful small pub with rooms, with excellent food.... the steak & ale pie was a proper tray baked pie slice... absolutely delicious. The bar staff were superb, and the room was nice and quiet.
