The hotel has been tastefully done and the pool area is nice. The rooms were very small. Be careful when you choose your room type. We were lucky that we got a bayview room which made our room a little less claustrophobic. Our friends paid more to get a verandah room. The verandah was tiny and had a huge privacy screen so there was no view or air flow.

My room was comfortable and well-appointed, though it was near the bar, and the noise continued until the early hours. The hotel’s pool looked great, but unfortunately, it was too crowded on my first day to enjoy it. Overall, it was a good experience, but more space and quiet would have made it even better."

Hotel com excelente atendimento , fiz reserva de 2 quartos um deles tinha um cheiro forte de vazamento .( bolor) Num aspecto geral hotel é ótimo mais por ser 5 estrelas café da manhã fica a desejar ( pode apenas pedir um suco, um café e uma opção de prato ) o spa e aberto ao público em geral então somente consegui um horário e éramos 3 . Restaurante Audrey s maravilhoso .

Breakfast buffet a sad affair and stale bread one morning. Hot Brekky ok but little choice. Breakfast staff unhelpful and clearly don’t want to be there. Overall disappointing and issues that have been pointed out before but ignored when looking at previous reviews. Not up to intercontinental or 5 star standards. Reception team very good but it doesn’t make up for the inadequacies of the rest.

We stayed in room 3206. It looked out onto concrete balconies & a delivery driveway. It was very noisy. Delivery trucks woke us up early in the mornings with reverse beeping noises. The room was very dark and dreary due to the lack of natural lighting coming in. The bed was also very uncomfortable.

The hotel was nice but for over $500 per night, the room was absolutely tiny. We had no space to put a bag (thank god we didn’t bring a suitcase,) no table to sit at, the toilet door was see through glass with a big hole for a handle, meaning you could see people sitting on the toilet (awkward much.) Fine to stay in by yourself but not for a couple. Breakfast was good, staff were lovely, bed comfortable, just the size of the room and the toilet that was no good.

There was only one chair, so not ideal for sitting to watch TV or read; bathroom offered almost no privacy; the only useful storage was one drawer each; the iron could only just be reached without climbing on a chair. The plus side: great location; mostly quiet; fabulous breakfast!!!! Restaurants were expensive compared to average Melbourne prices. Service was excellent.

Air/Heat wasn’t working in the room and hotel couldn’t get it resolved for our entire stay (3 nights). Other guests had the same issue. Room was extremely noisey due to shared access door and outside music blaring from the balcony above from 10am to 7pm. Breakfast was disappointing, having to endure long wait to be seated. Room service breakfast only available for additional charge, despite breakfast being included in the room rate.

Only one comment regarding potential ‘hidden costs’ as the original booking included free breakfast buffet and the hostess mentioned we were entitled to one free coffee and one free tea. We then proceeded to order two lattes. During check-out, the receptionist stated there was an 11 AUD balance. I was quite perplexed, the room was pre-paid and nothing was used or ordered to incur any incidental charges. I inquired about the source of this charge and it was replied that it was an additional coffee from breakfast. Incredulous, I mentioned what the hostess said and the receptionist said that the free buffet was for the entire booking as well as the free coffee and tea offer. This meant by interpretation, only one coffee and one tea could be ordered - we ordered no tea, just two lattes; therefore one latte was “extra cost”. It was an absurd rationale although I decided to just pay the charge. The receptionist proceeded then asked if I wanted to use the CC on file for deposit. I asked if I could pay cash and the answer was no; therefore, I was again perplexed - isn’t that the reason for a deposit? What created the necessity to ask if I wanted to use the CC on file, especially if cash is not accepted? Otherwise, the overnight stay was relaxing and comfortable. No additional comments.

While this is a beautiful facility, it is clear that there quite a few teething problems with staff and service. All the staff were friendly and helpful, however we have found out since our stay that the catering side of the hotel is run by a separate company so there is a disconnect in service standards. On our last morning, the restaurant was unable to keep up with the demand and we were going back to our room at 11.03 am to find out our key pass was automatically expired at 11.00AM! We then got stuck on the wrong floor as we were unable to use the lift as the key pass had expired! Nowhere else in the world have I experienced this and I really believe it should not be expired until check out is completed.

For the decades this is first time front reception telling me I never did in my life- ordered something thing to the spa , I do not know where is the spa, then someone took speakers from the room, I have not seen them from the entrance to the hotel, I am 66 , and a Doctor, this is abusing I would never back to this hotel I am really disappointed

Hotel, restaurants and location were great. Staff service was variable - some welcoming some not so. Check-in was very slow and cumbersome. Breakfast each morning was provided promptly and very nice - but servicing at breakfast was poor and dis-organised. We have stayed at a few resorts and hotels, but the “ Intercontinental” in Sorrento has to be amongst the best. The staff were so prompt and friendly in anything we requested. They were even beautiful enough to provide us with a a bottle of wine for our 20th year anniversary. Love this place.

We were disappointed with the size and lack of comfort for two people in our room. There was only one chair, so not ideal for sitting to watch TV or read; bathroom offered almost no privacy; the only useful storage was one drawer each; the iron could only just be reached without climbing on a chair. The plus side: great location; mostly quiet; fabulous breakfast!!!! Restaurants were expensive compared to average Melbourne prices. Service was excellent.

Located right in town so very accessible to everything. For the price paid however, did not find this good value. Nothing about the room was overly special. Room service finished at 9pm. The balcony was very dirty and needed a clean. Personal preference, but pillows were very uncomfortable. Buffet breakfast was very good.

We stayed at the Intercontinental Sorrento for two nights and were initially told over the phone that we’d receive an upgrade, but upon arrival, we were given the room we originally booked. The Alfredo/patio area was spacious, but with only one chair facing a fence, it felt poorly designed. For $500+ per night, the room and breakfast options were underwhelming. The limited breakfast selection and average food quality did not justify the price. Additionally, the toilet flush button kept falling into the toilet, and while wine glasses were provided, there was no bottle opener in the room—small details that made the stay feel less refined than expected. On top of that, the curtain didn’t close completely, allowing a lot of light in and disrupting sleep, and the air conditioning vent was putrid. Overall, the experience did not meet the premium standard we anticipated

The hotel is situated in a good location, close to shops, easy access, has three good restaurants. Ambiance at the restaurants is beautiful. Staff are friendly and helpful. Stayed there 3 nights for a birthday staycation. However, one of the ice buckets i requestes to chill my expressed breast milk has a very yucky rusty cover. Staff apologized for this, and later that day I saw reception staff carefully scrutinizing ice buckets at the front desk. Some coffee cups were dusty and the shower curtain edges had a few moldy spots in it, they asked me for my feedback and i did tell IHG about this so they moved us to a better room with a double ensuite. After a few days, I was surprised to see that my credit card was charged twice for our whole stay. I have paid for the nights weeks in advance and staff have acknowledged this, but charged us again. After I alerted staff, It took a few hours to get a response via email. They were apologetic but to my dismay refunded the wrong amount, less than what we paid for - Another mistake! If i didnt check twice I would have lost money twice! Quite unbelievable! I have lost trust in leaving my CC details at 5 star hotels. And 4 days counting I still havent gotten a refund of my double charge. The attention to detail in payments and refunds is lacking, unfortunately
