Das Hotel VR Rotorua Lake Resort ist etwas außerhalb gelegen, dafür aber sehr schön an einem See. Das Zimmer (Doppelzimmer Gartenblick) war ausreichend groß. Das Bett war leider viel zu weich. Bad mit Dusche war gut. Es gab ausreichend Parkplätze auf dem Gelände. Das Frühstück war sehr gut und das Restaurant bot auch Abends gute Mahlzeiten. Positiv war das Fitnessstudio, das zwar klein war, aber mit ausreichender Ausstattung. Die Freundlichkeit im Hotel war einwandfrei.

They say they staff the front desk until 10:30pm, but they don’t. They never answered the phone even once when we called during the time the desk was supposed to be staffed. Forget it if there is something wrong with your room - ours was missing a remote for the HVAC, and the other room we booked the water came out of both taps HOT HOT HOT. There was no help to be found. It was like accidentally stumbling into a ghost hotel with no staff. Uber does not want to come there, because it’s a 20-25 minute drive to get there. So we wound up waiting 30 minutes for an Uber the first time, then we wised up and ordered the Uber at a specific time so that we knew we could get a ride. The pool is not heated. Breakfast was a typical hotel buffet breakfast - which might be the best thing we can say about the place. We wouldn’t stay there, again. The staff we did manage to find and interact with were polite. I felt sorry for them, because every single person who checked out while we were sitting in the lobby had something wrong with their room.

Check in was easy. Nice view of the lake from our room. Giant outdoor boardgame. Room was nice. Floor was very creaky. Felt sorry for our neighbours. Check out was fast. While place is outdated & smelt musty. Cupboards are falling off in the room. No cloth or tea towel supplied. Under floor heating in bathroom. Shower pressure was awesome! No lift to second floor. No offer of help with baggage. Nice place across the road makes yummy burgers other than the restaurant they have at the V. R.

We stayed 4 nights and the room was never vacuumed, the room was bad small, I went to look under the bed and found a dirty baby nappy, they probably never cleaned under the bed, the gym was so dirty, it seems like they never cleaned it. I never recommend this place.

Gorgeous location on the shore of Lake Rotoiti. Perfect for catching the afternoon boat to the Manupirua Hot Pools. There's nothing wrong with hotel that wouldnt be solved with better and more meaningful cleaning.

The geothermal waters have corroded the Tapware and other fittings within the facility. We checked in after hours and the process was smooth overseen by restaurant staff. Unfortunately, the bathroom requires a really good scrub down and showering left us feeling dirty. We did not have breakfast in our package. Parking was abundant and free and it was lovely to look around the lake. Approximately 10 to 15 minutes back into town.

The room was pretty clean and the bed was comfortable. Sadly that’s the only good part. The whole place seemed neglected and run down. Paint was peeling on the bathroom walls, dead dragonflies in the hallway windowsills. It was probably a lovely property 20 years ago but it has not been maintained. Even the patio furniture by the lake is in need of replacement. We weren’t expecting top luxury, but we didn’t feel it was worth the money we paid.

Overall good hotel with very excellent views of lake. However we had to report heavy mold in shower which seemed to have been neglected for months and months which was offensive ! When reported to staff we received absolutely no comment? Rooms over priced given the heavy mold in shower - rest of bathroom including bath tub very perfectly clean !

Overall value for money was ok. We would stay there again. It was clean but the bathroom was old and tired and needed a deep surface clean/scrub. I'm not sure it really meets its 4 star rating. The taps in the bathroom and the shower did not have hot and cold identifiers on the them. The plug didn't have a centre piece for pulling it out of the plug hole. We had to hunt through every cupboard to find things. Nothing was labelled - and there were no instructions about where things were. The bed, carpet and curtains were fresh and new looking. The bed was very comfortable and temperature control easy with the heat pump. The wine glasses were not matching ( a small detail I know - but its not what you would expect in a 4 star rated hotel). TV was excellent and had a good range of channels, Wifi was excellent and there was ample extra lighting and charger/usb plugs. Check in and out was easy. Staff were pleasant enough. The grounds look a bit tired but coming in to winter that isn't surprising.

Decent sized room with a comfortable king size bed, one easy chair, one office type swivel chair and a couple of dining chairs and a small table. Our second floor room looked out onto Lake Rotoiti - very nice view (Lake Rotorua is in the opposite direction and can't be seen from the hotel). Strange folding wooden shutters between the room and en suite bathroom (with separate shower cubicle) - would let in natural light I suppose? Fridge, desk, small wardrobe containing iron and board. Some of the fittings are a bit worn and tarnished, giving the room a well used feel - but it was clean and everything worked. Friendly staff. Parking on site. No lift - but the receptionist offered to help carry luggage. Good breakfast available: fruit, cereal, yoghurt cheese, cold meats, croissants juice, plus scrambled eggs, baked beans, mushrooms, hash browns and bacon (potato wedges one morning). Toast, butter and spreads. Only disappointment was the water in the flask for tea wasn't hot - we had tea in our room. At times the breakfast area had food dropped by guests on the chairs and carpet. We dined in the restaurant one evening - nice meal. The hotel is an easy 20-30 minute drive to the centre of Rotorua (you definitely need your own transport) but only 5 minutes from Okere and Tutela falls. We had a comfortable stay and the buffet breakfast was a treat.

The view at this property is amazing. The beds were comfy and the room was spacious enough. The shower (which in gerneral terms is scored by its own star - is 0) is not very good. especially if you visit the mudpools and want to wash your hair after. They really need to change the heads. There was also no privacy glass bewteen the bathroom and sleeping area - meaning going to the toilet was everyones business. But the view - does make up for a lot of this.

Basically a nice hotel but looks like it’s due for renovation. My daughter was extremely disappointed that they weren’t willing to send on the plush toy that she accidentally left in our room. They confirmed they had it at reception but I never heard from them again when I asked (three times) if they could send it to me in the UK at my own expense. It was one of a pair that she got with her best friend and I can’t replace it as they’re out of stock everywhere. 😕

The staff at VR Rotorua Lake Resort were fantastic! They were super friendly and helpful, making me feel welcomed from the moment I arrived. It's a quiet spot on the lake, perfect for a romantic getaway, but be warned, it's a bit far from the main drag in Rotorua. The hotel itself is getting a bit long in the tooth. The rooms and bathrooms could definitely use a refresh, especially the showers. I had to do the hot cold dance every time I wanted to take a shower! Plus, for the price, you might find nicer places closer to the action. Overall, VR Rotorua had its pros and cons. If you're looking for a peaceful escape with awesome staff, it's a good choice. Pretty average. The grounds are simply beautiful, and the lake view from my room was amazing. The interior of the property could use a minor rehab. Fresh painting. Shower grout replacement. Light fixture updating. I made a dinner reservation for 9 o’clock, but reception told me that if they were not busy enough that they might close early so decided to eat offsite. So I guess do not plan for their dining hours to be respected. Very easy drive to town and to most area tourist attractions. I’m happy I stayed here, but I just think they’re missing some opportunities to improve the property and to make more money.

This was an expensively appointed hotel when built but it is starting to tire. Still lovely. But please please clean the windows, inside and out; a simple thing that will just lift the whole experience. Breakfast was excellent and evening dining is good.

Stayed for two nights, both nights the hot water didn’t work. Was told to wait an hr and still never worked. Food was terrible!! $30 for Buffet Breakfast, which only consisted of cheap bread, scrambled eggs and sausages. Dirty bathroom. Not. 4 star hotel

A quiet resort / motel on the shores of Lake Rotoiti. Recommend the Lake view rooms. Restaurant meals were excellent and pleasingly very well priced. The inclusive buffet breakfast is well worth it; a wide range of options.
