Muthu Fort William Hotel

Staff were super friendly and the rooms were quiet and clean. There is no lift so getting my suitcase up and down the stairs was a little cumbersome.

Indifferent service. I arrived at 10pm after a long journey and was very tired but had to wait 10 minutes before somebody was available to check me in No central heating in very cold bedroom ( no 9) and no hot water . Tacky little room carved out of a bigger one. Entire hotel has seen better times . Aspired to Exotic Marigold Hotel but failed

The property advertised laundry as an amenity..apparently the laundry has been out of service for quite some time with no plans to have it fixed. The showers were either full on hot or full on cold. The staff was very good but treated poorly by the management and bemoaned the fact that the place was too old and in poor repair. The location is fair if you plan on taking the train but I will stay somewhere else next time.

Staff was courteous. Location was excellent. Food was good. No air conditioning. Could've been handled better with at least providing fans in the rooms and sheets versus blankets. Without those alternatives, it was impossible to get a good night's rest. Opening windows wasn't enough and added to the noise factor. Opinion shared by other guests travelling from US and Australia. Reception's response that there is no air con in Scotland is completely untrue since it was not an issue elsewhere in Scotland in all ranges of hotels. Also, while the housekeeping came in to change towels, did not make the bed.

Room not made up on arrival. So they just randomly opened several rooms until they found one for us. Sign on sink saying 'Not Drinking Water'. Shower broken on second day. No hot water on third day. Shower leaked all over the floor constantly. Skylight in room that lead to the corridor. Meaning the room was flooded with the bright lights of the corridor all night. Hotel was generally tired and in need of a lot of work and a deep clean.

Very pretty interior but building is quite old and the lift doesn't go to all the upstairs rooms. The room was very nice but on front of property near a busy road very noisy. Good view of the harbor but I would have preferred a quiet room

It was overall an okay place with a view of the Loch. This won't apply to most travelers, but we specifically booked this place because they stated they have laundry facilties, but then claimed they were broken. This ended up being a big inconvenience as we had just finished a week hike of the west highland way, and need clean clothes.

Don’t stay here, lift didn’t work heating didn’t work so badly in need of renovations

The hotel room was spacious and very clean. The bathroom was newly updated and very nice! Each room had a nice amount of complimentary items such as a bottle of water (large bottle!) chips, cookies, coffee, etc. One of the only hotels we stayed in Scotland with a kk g bed so that was a HUGE PLUS! The only reason I am giving a 3-star for comfort was the face that the walls are SO THIN. We could hear everything our neighbors were going, suitcases rolling down the hall, I could even hear a girl plugging in her charger kn the wall behind me. These guests weren’t being particularly loud either. Their conversations were at a reasonable level but the walls were so thin that we could hear everything. So at 6:30am it was not very pleasant. The only other qualm is that the parking lot is VERY tight and doesn’t have a ton of parking available. The lot is very tight and is not wide enough to turn around once you reach the end, so it’s a bit of a headache. Overall, the hotel itself was completely fine and a nice stay.

The staff while dealing with them were great very friendly and helpful….only real issue with the property was that the cleanliness was not on par…while it was a bit dated it added to the old world charm(sort of) but the sheets on my daughters bed were dirty which we did not notice till as it was at the foot of the bed and under another blanket that was there as I thought decoration.

There were bedbugs on my bed and I woke up with dozens of bug bites on my body, my neck, and the back of my head. I brought up the issue with the reception lady and she said they would check it but insisted there are no bedbugs in Scotland. I googled it later not surprisingly there are bedbugs in Scotland this season. BE AWARE OF THAT!!

Really nice hotel, friendly and welcoming, clean and tidy and well equipped

Lovely entrance and reception area, but it goes downhill after that… I put so much effort into somewhere of our people do not actually sleep and a little effort and maintenance is put into the rooms and hallways. Dirty walls, dirty doors, tiles were dirty, I’m a self-employed cleaner and I would lose my job if I left tiles dirty.

We had to tell the staff about the rustiness of the place, I suffer with asthma and I had a very bad flare up, for the price for those nights I would expect the place to be more clean than it was. Areas of the room were not hoovered and there was dust everywhere.

The property has seen better days some long time ago. Leaking bathroom ceilings and overall needs some upgrades. Very noisy with cars going on the roundabout infront constantly. Breakfast was good and staff was very friendly and accommodating. Location was great as it is near restaurants, shops and bars

Hotel breakfast was great but the smell of fuel was so strong!! Hard to breathe at times with horrible gas smell.

We had to wait 15 minutes before anyone even showed up at the reception desk, 3 of the 4 coffee cups in our room were still dirty and sticky and the bathroom was not clean the back of the door was covered in stuff that wiped off if you touched it so would have been easily cleanable and there was hair in the bathroom that didn’t belong to any of us which I found very gross.

I stay in hotels frequently with work around the world and this I quite possibly the worst I have ever stayed in!! I had to check out two days earlier because of this! Woke up both mornings I did stay with fresh bites on my legs. I come back from work late around 2300-0000 to a freezing cold room and no hot water (they only have the heating on during set times along with the hot water I guess). The duvet on the bed was so thin so I barely slept due to being absolutely freezing in bed! I ate once in the restaurant I had the chicken curry, if you could call it chicken, mainly grizzle and awful, couldn’t finish it along with the microwave rice. By the second cold sleepless night I decided to check out at around 0600, enough was enough for me. Went to reception to check out and no one there, rang the bell several times and waited about ten mins still no one came so I just left the card and went, I’ve also messaged them 3 times via the hotels.com app and no reply!! I left my charger in the room as I packed in a hurry!! Terrible hotel please don’t stay here!!!

Hotel was perfect, staff went above and beyond to ensure your stay was faultless. The room was super clean and the beds and bedding really comfortable. Will definitely stay in a Muthu hotel again

Great position for site seeing, great free parking, great breakfast options, walls were a bit thin, we could hear our neighbour snoring. No USB plug for phone chargers

Checking in was simple and quick. The room was as described, very nice touch having complimentary bottled water and snacks! Beds were comfortable, shower was good. Only issue was the noisy people upstairs paying music on their TV early in the morning.

Lovely hotel, the room was huge as was the bed and shower. The.staff were so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very.good its a buffet set up but with plenty of choice and was replenished regularly. The evening meal was mixed the tikka massala was excellent but the chicken supreme was a little dry. ithe stay was excellent value for money and we will definitely be returning

We had a great time at Muthu Fort William - Our only regret was that we didn’t extend our stay! Staff were exceptional. Rose Ann constantly greeted us with a kind smile and genuine positive energy regardless of the time and was attentive to each guest’s needs. Great location with complimentary parking. Laundry services were out of order while we were there, BUT it’s a quick walk to the laundromat in the grocery store near by. We stayed on the first floor and the ceiling sounded paper thin as the room above us was pretty noisy and stomping around, but other than that it was a perfect stay

Room too small for a double. A Loch view was part of the price but the window was too dirty too appreciate this.

Vanessa was excellent as well as all the staff we interacted with. Flight of whiskey was great price and a nice view to enjoy. Room was very small but we had a nice view.

Our room was small and uncomfortable. The property didn’t seem kept up very well and could use some updates. The staff were friendly but we did not enjoy our stay so we would not return.

Muthu Fort Williams was lovely. It is very convenient and close to the shops and Loch Linnhe. The room was comfortable and clean and had an amazing view.

A very understaffed and disorganised hotel. Our room was not ready on arrival. Second day we were locked out and had to represent to reception to gain access. Rooms were poorly sound proofed and could hear everything going on next door and the next floor. Poor water pressure in the shower and the shower drain was inadequate backing up from the last person to shower. Corridor was blocked in the afternoon due to housekeeping sorting a massive amount of dirty linen in the hallway. There is no drinking water in the room and needs to be sourced from reception who seem to not be present due to other duties most of the time. The staff tried very hard to Please but are obviously overstretched. Rooms are clean otherwise. Beds comfy. I would not stay again.

Disgustingly horrible hotel. Save your time, money, and energy and DO NOT STAY HERE. The hotel called us multiple times to confirm what time we would be arriving. By the third call within a few hours we were annoyed and confused. We then learned on a later call that they were “experiencing technical difficulties” and could no longer honor our reservation the night of check in as we were driving there. When we asked what the technical difficulties were and if they had just given our room away they just kept repeating "technical difficulties”. Upon pressing them on the matter they revealed “the ceilings caving in”. Which they knew about before we even booked but chose to scramble and wait (till 8pm as we were driving to check in) to say that we no longer have a room. Instead of giving us another room or paying to put us in a nearby hotel. They sent us to a bed and breakfast that they assured me had the same accommodations as their hotel. Then upon our arrival to the bed and breakfast we learned that they lied about everything and sent us to a b&b that was new and not set up yet. There was no breakfast, no WiFi, no heating, no hot water, no free onsite parking, a room so small I couldn’t fit my baby’s portable crib, and they failed to inform us that the B&B only accepted cash which we did not have that large a sum on us. I attempted to reach out to the hotel yet they ignored my calls, messages, and did absolutely nothing to make it up to my family. Absolutely unprofessional!

Staff was wonderful. They went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and to assist us. The hotel was quaint and full of character. Also, we tried breakfast and dinner at the hotel restaurant during our stay and both were delicious!

Stood at reception for 20 mins on arrivals log with 4 other parties, to an empty reception. Rung the bell, shouted and walked around. No answer. Eventually found a KP in the kitchen to try find receptionist which took another 10mins. Rooms clean but a mess of decor. Corridors are tired and the photos online make it look way better than it is. Want to support a local hotel but the premier in is a safer bet.

This is a very nice and adorable hotel in Fort William. Can't tell from the outside just how nice it is. The hotel staff was very friendly, kind and helpful. Th employee when I checked in (Vanessa or Veronica, I forget) was very sweet and helpful and I enjoyed talking to her for a bit upon checkin. Dinner at the restaurant was tasty and the staff there also very kind and helpful. The hotel is very close to city center and able to walk to shopping or food or down to the lake. Highly recommend.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay! The service was outstanding and the food was phenomenal. We were so amazed with this hotel. It’s like the best kept secret at Fort William! Shout out to Vanessa, John and Rose Ann who provided exemplary service. Thank you for the hospitality! We will return again.

The staff at this hotel were excellent. Every MGM that we have stayed at have been lovely. The deluxe loch view room with breakfast and evening meal was a true bargain. The food was excellent. The room and view weee superb, the public areas were lovely. The location couldn’t be better. The man that checked us is was very helpful and kind and then also served us for dinner and explained everything. The bed, breakfast and evening meal option included a three course meal (with no surcharges at all - not even for a steak). The man that checked us out even gave us a gift, truly lovely hotel chain with kind honest and caring staff. Would recommend and will return. Thank you.

An amazing support by Deepak to start with and then Rose and John were jsut a great pool of people.. my father just felt like at home and cared. Food, drinks and breakfast hot options were very tasty and enough. It is right on the edge of High street where all market is .. so Would recommend fo rpeople..food.. accessibility.. commute..and parking.. it is also close to water boats .. less than 100ms or so. Happy tonahve stayed here.

Good one night stay, halfway between Isle of Skye and Glasgow for us. Central location, across from the water and close to hiking and outdoor opportunities. The restaurant looked nice, but we arrived later than planned and ate at a nearby Wetherspoon pub. Older property but had some opulence to the decor, which made it interesting.

This hotel has a fine location with awesome views. In easy reach of local shops and restaurants in town centre. The Hotel is very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and the decor was beautiful. Staff are friendly relaxed and helpful.

The property is outdated. The heat was not working in the room. The breakfast was very limited and not fresh. There was no coffee machine. They only had black coffee. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone

Good location on the edge of the town centre. Easy walking to shops and bars. The rooms are looking a little tired and would benefit from a spruce up. The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. Food in the restaurant was really good, exceeding expectations.

Breakfast was wonderful!

Really enjoyable stay, parking was a bit tight but fine for us for 2 nights. Staff are fantastic, I haven’t had such a pleasant, helpful, and accommodating staff in ages. The dinner and breakfast were both good with dinner being very good. Walls are a bit thin but that is likely the age of the property issue.
