room on second floor, no lift available, so no use if you have mobility issues which we both did. Room needed a few things repaired in it, re curtains and bathroom needed attention. For a 5 star accommodation this should be perfect as paid £362 for two nights. good sea view. Breakfast was disappointing as presentation and choice of help your self starters not good. Marmalade missing on two mornings. Got parking first night, but second night no spaces so had to pay £12 to stay overnight at end of town car park. Room service very poor as duvet just flung up which we could have done ourselves. Had fish and chips first night which was very good.

Lovely hotel in a really convenient location on the sea-front. Limited parking spaces but spaces along the seafront. The staff were all excellent and all went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Very comfortable room and beds with a large bathroom and walk-in shower. Excellent choice of meals at breakfast and for evening meal.

We had a lovely stay. Room a bit small to fit a family of 4 in. Disappointed that housekeeping was not each day..only on 4th day. And we were there for 3 days. Treated with respect, lovely staff. Food excellent. We will return but try to book a larger room.

Every member of staff was friendly and accommodating from management to the bar and waiting staff. Room was very clean and spacious with great sea views. Bed was very comfy with lovely linen sheets. Great buffet breakfasts with plenty options.

We had a fantastic stay at Dukes. The staff were so helpful and welcoming. Our room was clean and we were really impressed with the size of it. Location is perfect, meant we didn’t have to drive once we arrived in Sidmouth. Breakfast was an extra treat too! We will definitely be back!

Great hotel. Clean with hard working staff who were always polite and happy to help. Easy walking distance to the town centre and promenade. Would. Happily stay there again.

We’ve stayed at Dukes many times ✖️ over the past 12 years,always loving the service,ambience,location and fantastic menu. Our stay this year was so poor we won’t be returning.The room looked tired with chipped furniture in the bathroom,mouldy window frame and wonky toilet seat.The shower temp was sporadic.The main issue was the temperature of the room.The radiator was working on arrival but stopped sometime the first evening.We told staff the following afternoon,if it was looked at whilst we were out it certainly wasn’t fixed. We had a table booked for 745 but went down early as we were so cold in the room and again told staff.We were told we’d have to sit outside until our table was ready as you are unable to wait in the bar. I was ready to leave at this point.We were told we could sit in the bar at a spot between the back of the bar and the toilets.The bar area was also freezing as for some reason,the front door was propped open.Other people complained to staff about this and also the wait they had for food and drinks. When we said how cold it was in the bar, the staff member said ‘I don’t know what’s going on in this country, it’s so cold’. Close the front door then! We were then asked for our menu choices so clearly the wait at the table by the loos wasn’t a temporary measure until ours was available and someone else had our table.Poor choice of menu options compared to previous years.A heater was finally put in our room that evening.Not what we have come to expect.

Warm welcome on arrival. Our room overlooked the street and was quiet. It was also clean and comfortable. Lovely bed linen and fluffy towels. Very good freshly cooked breakfast with plenty of choices. A vast array of cereals fruit and pastries too. Staff were helpful and friendly. We even went back for coffee before we left Sidmouth. We would certainly stay again.

While dukes is right in the center of all the action and the staff was lovely, the accommodations were lacking some creature comforts. My room was so incredibly hot and it was only 65 degrees when I was there and I could t get a breeze. There is no mini fridge if you want to keep any food and the shower only has soap. For the price I think it was a bit underwhelming. The breakfast was nice though. Sidmouth is beautiful, I would absolutely travel there again.

I liked the Duke in that I wasn't pestered and could do my own thing. Only issue was the room was quite small, but still very comfortable

All the staff are amazing, they work hard and nothing is too much trouble! Great food and a relaxed vibe made it a lovely place to stay. Room 6 was spacious and comfortable, I would recommend Dukes to anyone!

I really enjjoyed my stay - The property is in an excellent location - really central for everything, with the sea on your doorstep. The staff were all super friendly and kind. All of them made me feel very welcome as I was travelling alone. I couldn't have wanted better service. Breakfast was excellent.

The only little thing missing was free GB News. It would be nice to be able to hear different opinion than BBC news. We are happy to return as soon as possible.
