The property was lovely very clean and nicely decorated. The staff were friendly and helpful. Parking was very secure. Positioned right on the high street so plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Stayed overnight on New Year's Eve. Good parking behind hotel. Rooms comfortable, with everything that we needed. Great breakfast the following morning. Many thanks.

A great location in the centre of Tenterden. Parking at the rear of the property included in the cost of you’re a resident in the hotel. We had a very pleasant airy and comfortable room. Certainly worth another visit in the future.

It was a lovely - period dated pub with wood beams. The facilities were excellent and the hosts were fantastic I used this for a visit to the nearby vineyard. Its directly on the high street with its own car park. There are many shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes on the high street, and the steam train station is just off the high street

WOW. A gem in the High Street. The staff were very friendly, some great real ales and the food was absolutely amazing. I had the cider batter Haddock and chips, OMG.

It was very convenient for chapel down wines where we had arranged a tasting and dinner. Parking was good. The staff at the hotel were great. We ate lunch there one day and dinner one night the food was very good and reasonable. The cooked breakfast was excellent. My only criticism was the coffee there was only filter coffee available.

Lovely pub/hotel in a great location. We had an excellent Sunday roast .The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. My only criticism is that it needs a lick of paint here and there.

Everything was ok but it could have been so much better with a bit more attention to detail. Breakfast service is less than slick but when it comes, it’s great. The rooms are showing signs of wear and tear eg flaking pain in the bathroom ceiling, coffee stains on the dressing table. Checking out was a nightmare.

Nice oldie worldie pub with rooms. Beautiful open beams and vintage style soft glow lighting add to a relaxed atmosphere. The room was a great size clean and comfortable. Its the kind of placebthat has creeky floor boards but you wouldnt expect it not to. Check in was easy and quick, as was check out. All staff friendly

We had a pleasant stay. The staff were very friendly and the bar and restaurant area very nice. Our room was tired and needed a good lick of paint. The room was hot and stuffy and the sash window was broken and wouldn’t stay open which was annoying. We would go here again to use the bar and restaurant but would not stay overnight as there are better accommodations nearby.

We booked this hotel for a special occasion. The room was gorgeous and clean and comfortable and worth the money we paid for it, albeit very cold and drafty through the night, with the windows rattling in the wind, which we could forgive, with it beaing an old property. We had informed the hotel of the reason for our visit, however no acknowledgement of this was made. Previously when we've stayed in other places, they at least said happy birthday when we arrived. The food was absolutely stunning, but there was a very long wait for it, which seemed unnecessary as it did not seem overly full. The waiting staff all seemed very apologetic when we mentioned this and were lovely throughout our stay.

The floors were creaky and could hear the quests in the room above walking around and down pipe when they flushed the toilet. If you were taller than 5ft 10in I would have difficulty in the bathroom, especially the shower. Paint work was tried.

Old pub with rooms. Our room was on the second floor and was very hot. There was a fan but it was just moving the air around, obviously not the sort of building you can instal aircon. Decor was a bit mismatched but bed was comfortable and room was clean. Bottles of UHT milk are nice as you get more but the heat did not do them any favours. Breakfast costs extra and we had it on first morning, it was acceptable, the bacon was the best item.

If creaking floor boards and uneven floors are your thing then the White Lion is for you. It wasn't for us. We booked in for 4 nights and were offered a small room, when enquiring about another we were told none were available, although the place didn't seem full. The room had some hanging space, but no storage so we just lived out of the suitcase during our stay. The room was accessed by a further short staircase once in the room itself, which became tedious. The room was fairly bare and had no zircon, so became extremely hot in the day. Bathroom was good and looked new but the provision of soap dispensers was another irritant esp a they were placed for a shower user rather than the bath. Breakfast was charged extra so watch what you're paying for. The food was generally good and breakfast choice was good. Overall, not one I can recommend.

lovely style older property in the high street Great location and has parking at the back Beds were slightly hard and the shower was in the bath We didn’t use it as the ceilings were very low and felt too small for us both Im only 5”4 but could have touched the ceiling if i was having a shower so a bit too confined for us Im guessing all the rooms are different so if we stayed here again we would ask for a free standing shower if possible and also if there was any softer mattresses Staff were very friendly and check in was quick Breakfast was very good and i would definitely stay here again

Staff was VERY helpful. There was a problem with the reservation through Expedia, only one bed in out room rather than two. They ended up giving us a second room free of charge. Really accommodating. Also free parking!

Only stayed for one night. Didn't get much sleep - noisy guests in the corridor and then there was a 7.30am fire alarm. Wouldn't stay there again, but would eat there and visit the pub. Staff were very nice and helpful.

Great hotel with a great pub, ideal location for a trip to chapel down winery. Great little town too, helpful staff when an extension was required for one of the rooms. Breakfast was delicious just a little confusing with regards to prices and choices. Overall great stay would recommend and stay again.

Loved the place but unfortunately there were huge issues with our reservation where one of rooms was given away by mistake and we offered a downgraded room. Although when we asked for refund we were going to get it, it was a disappointing experience and we booked certain rooms for a reason. In the end we were given another room same quality to the detriment of someone else checking in later who would have experienced the same issue as we took their room. Really loved the room though and breakfast was great.

Perfect ‘treat’ break … lovely pub/hotel. The weather was superb too! Room was everything we would put on a wish list (it was a great price on our budget so didn’t get church tower & high st views) but everything so easily walkable. Lots cafes restaurants but chose hotel as vg menu choice on a Sunday night! Thanks to all staff who were extremely accommodating & friendly. We will def visit again.

Room was everything we would put on a wish list (it was a great price on our budget so didn’t get church tower & high st views) but everything so easily walkable. Lots cafes restaurants but chose hotel as vg menu choice on a Sunday night! Thanks to all staff who were extremely accommodating & friendly. We will def visit again.

The property was lovely very clean and nicely decorated. The staff were friendly and helpful. Parking was very secure. Positioned right on the high street so plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants. Would definitely recommend staying here.

A great location in the centre of Tenterden. Parking at the rear of the property included in the cost of you’re a resident in the hotel. We had a very pleasant airy and comfortable room. Certainly worth another visit in the future.

Great hotel with a great pub, ideal location for a trip to chapel down winery. Great little town too, helpful staff when an extension was required for one of the rooms. Breakfast was delicious just a little confusing with regards to prices and choices. Overall great stay would recommend and stay again.

Excellent location, friendly staff. Comfy room spacious and a good shower. A few issues with the heating being noisy and on throughout the night also unable to open front window

It was a lovely - period dated pub with wood beams. The facilities were excellent and the hosts were fantastic I used this for a visit to the nearby vineyard. Its directly on the high street with its own car park. There are many shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes on the high street, and the steam train station is just off the high street

Perfect ‘treat’ break … lovely pub/hotel. The weather was superb too! It was very convenient for chapel down wines where we had arranged a tasting and dinner. Parking was good. The staff at the hotel were great. We ate lunch there one day and dinner one night the food was very good and reasonable. The cooked breakfast was excellent. My only criticism was the coffee there was only filter coffee available.

Old pub with rooms. Our room was on the second floor and was very hot. There was a fan but it was just moving the air around, obviously not the sort of building you can instal aircon. Decor was a bit mismatched but bed was comfortable and room was clean. Bottles of UHT milk are nice as you get more but the heat did not do them any favours. Breakfast costs extra and we had it on first morning, it was acceptable, the bacon was the best item.

Nice pub with rooms. We checked in, which was quite quick and simple. We decided not to have breakfast as there were other options locally, and better value. We had an evening meal, but it was just ok. Nothing special. I thought it was pricy for what we had too. What I didn’t like was a service charge added to the bill. I didn’t like it because when we were at the bar before we had a meal, we agreed for the bar bill to be added to our meal bill, however we were not told this would incur an additional charge. We carried over all the drinks to our dining table so in hindsight we should have paid at the bar first. Apart from this little niggle the pub was ok. I think it was in the motion of changing menus etc. However I think it isn’t there yet. The layout of the restaurant was nice.

Beautiful building, well decorated room and excellent breakfast. Staff were very friendly and professional, welcoming at all times and the room, bar and restaurant are beautifully decorated. Room amenities were excellent, just a shame we didn’t discover the brownies until it was too late!

We booked this hotel for a special occasion. The room was gorgeous and clean and comfortable and worth the money we paid for it, albeit very cold and drafty through the night, with the windows rattling in the wind, which we could forgive, with it beaing an old property. We had informed the hotel of the reason for our visit, however no acknowledgement of this was made. Previously when we've stayed in other places, they at least said happy birthday when we arrived. The food was absolutely stunning, but there was a very long wait for it, which seemed unnecessary as it did not seem overly full. The waiting staff all seemed very apologetic when we mentioned this and were lovely throughout our stay.

WOW. A gem in the High Street. The staff were very friendly, some great real ales and the food was absolutely amazing. I had the cider batter Haddock and chips, OMG.

Clean room, comfortable bed but room could do with some TLC. Quite noisy early in the morning with deliveries etc. Can’t comment on breakfast but the bar/restaurant food in the evening was very tasty.

This pub was like a home from home. The staff were friendly and were especially welcoming to our Labrador. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the welcoming touches for the dog were a sign that he was really welcome - it was our first time staying in a hotel with him. The location was great - right in the middle of Tenterden within walking distance of lots of other restaurants and pubs. The food in the pub was also great, and there was a selection of wines and beers too.

Good parking facilities. Hotel is right in town which is a real bonus. Staff were helpful and friendly. We did not have breakfast at the hotel so cannot comment on that. We went instead to a very charming cafe just for a change. Unfortunately the down side of the hotel are the rooms. We had a twin room, nice view and large. However the decor was very tired and frankly grubby. The bathroom was ok but if you tried turning round in the bath whilst having a shower you could, and I did, crack your head on the lowered ceiling which was half way across the bathroom. Hard to explain but was very unpleasant. It really should be completely renovated. Maybe this was only in our room. Who knows.
