Encore Motel Near Marina Del Rey, Culver City & Venice

Staff were very helpful and friendly. I had a special request for accommodation and they went above and beyond to help me out. Clean rooms, quiet area and it’s right across the street from an Inn and Out! There’s a Costco business center across the street too! Parking is tight so if you have a large vehicle be cautious of parking in a corner. Clean bathrooms and fresh linens with some complimentary items. I would highly recommend this place.

The room was absolutely average. Perfect for what I needed. A clean bed and shower at a reasonable price. Safe parking and a nice location. The person at the desk was literally there 24/7. I wish I had gotten his name. He was my favorite part of this stay. Very helpful and courteous. I would stay here again.

The hotel is nice and about 1.5 miles from beach. There’s an in and out across the street. The room was ok, it was clean but the paint was peeling and the room over all needs a little TLC. The beds are are comfortable but if you are able to bring your own pillows they were flat. I would definitely stay here again

Service and cleanliness were great. Parking was a little challenging, but due more to other guests than the facility. Mattresses were a little stiff, but still provided good rest.

The room was clean and orderly. Light switches and plugs were easy to locate. Parking spots were adequate and easy to access. My only issue was finding the entry to the parking lot using online driving instructions. The driveway entry was in an unexpected location right off of a busy street.

Avoid This Place at All Costs! My experience here was terrible. The room was disgustingly dirty — stained sheets with hair on them, sticky light switches, a grimy floor, and a filthy shower. The bathroom vanity was literally held together with tape, the deadbolt was broken off, and the fan made such a loud, awful clicking sound that it couldn't be used. There was no Wi-Fi in the room, despite it being advertised. I brought all of this to the attention of the front desk and politely asked for a refund due to the unhygienic conditions, broken amenities, and lack of Wi-Fi. Instead of addressing my concerns, they accused me of lying and refused to issue any refund. I ultimately had to walk away at a loss — the place was just that bad. Absolutely do not recommend. Stay far away!

I don’t usually take the time to write a bad review, but I feel I owe it to my fellow travelers to warn you to stay away from this place unless your expectations are very low. I think the positive reviews must be fraudulent, and you may notice most of them are all from the same person. Here are some of the many problems: visible thick layer of dust on headboard and walls; two large spider webs with dead spiders in the bathroom; extremely dirty bathroom and kitchenette walls; dirty bathroom counter and shower floor; filthy upholstery on the chair; dirty microwave inside and out; irregularly noisy old ceiling fan (woke me multiple times); long black hairs on the towels and pillowcases, one of which was very pilly and threadbare. To be fair I will list the positives - A/C worked, comfortable bed, clean sheets and towels other than the hair, strong new lock though no deadbolt, all appliances work, hot water, nice TV though we don’t watch it. For the price point, I’m certain you can get a better value elsewhere.

Stayed here before off and on over last few years but now property is in serious decline. Unpleasant mildew odor in rooms, toilet broken and ran all night. Not as decent as it used to be for the price. Needs upgrade and repair. Probably will not stay there again...sad decline.

It was easy to check in. The room was clean.

King size bed was nice and room was nice but no blankets, bathroom was a disaster! Molding and sink back splash where all pulled away from the wall about a 1/2 inch, mold all around the window and mold going up the wall near the bottom of the shower about a foot and molding had pulled away from the wall! There was no anti slip points on the bottom of the bathtub so it was very slippery and the tv was a nice large size but never could find any local channels or weekly shows to watch! Very disappointed! Cost effective but the mold made it a breeding ground for spores!

Clean room. Very dated building and rooms. Bathroom door only opened 2/3 of the way and jammed on the floor. Kitchen had good options inc microwave but could with cutlery. Rooms need deep clean to rid of damp fragrance.

The hotel was filthy. The room had not been cleaned - not just since the previous guests, the room had not been cleaned in years. The sink and the bathtub drains were clogged with hair from previous guests. The floor of the room was so dirty that I had to wear shoes the whole time. The towels were dirty. This isn’t a hotel for people visiting on business or vacation, it is a shelter for the long term homeless. Avoid this place and stay somewhere else. I did not feel safe at any time during my stay. I locked my belongings in my car rather than leave them in the room. I travel a lot and this is the worst place that I’ve ever stayed at

The room was a little dark with the window shades closed and even though my room wasn’t alongside the street I could hear cars going by all night long which often woke me up as they were very loud but they always did a nice job cleaning my room and making my bed

The hotel looks pretty run down and “sketchy” from the outside, but I went in trusting other reviews I had seen, and all of the cars in the parking lot were nice. It looks like the type of motel people rent by the week or month, but the rooms are very clean and spacious. We had a king sized bed, there’s a nice sized kitchenette plus plenty of space to move around - you could even fit a double air mattress on the floor if needed. My only complaint is that the door did not have a way to secure it “extra” like a chain - you could see two places in the door frame where some had been removed. I ended up pushing a chair in front of the door for some piece of mind. The bed is comfortable, but the blankets are light and thin, as well. I would probably stay again if I was in the area

Well, imagine you are watching a movie and the character is living in a sketchy motel. Thats what this was like. I felt safe there but the room was pretty beat up. It needs major updating, nail holes filled and a paint job. The tub didn't drain well while taking a shower, the AC unit was loud, the bed was moderately comfortable. We walked to the beach from there by a number of unhoused folks. We took a Lyft back. It is right across the street from Costco and In and Out. The people staying there all seemed like foreign tourists which was fine, of course.

The motel doesn't look like much from the outside, but the room itself is as nice as some hotel rooms. It was in great condition and the bathroom and shower were nice. the bed was comfortable as well.

On the plus side, the room was as the picture described. It was clean, and I felt like the mgmt cared about their guests and giving them a good experience. On the negative side, there was some woman coughing outside my window much of the first night. I had to go out early the next morning and saw a young woman sleeping on the ground a few feet away, presumably the same person. The wall unit air conditioner did not maintain a constant temperature--it either blasted cold air or you had to turn it off and let the room get warm, so you're constantly turning it on or off to be comfortable. Sound from adjacent rooms was an issue, much more so than in a hotel. The final night of a three night stay the toilet kept running and the tank would not refill unless I manually pushed down the seal inside the water tank. Though it is a little spruced up visually and kept clean, it is a one-star motel, and I probably would have been happier at one of the nearby two-star hotel chains that were similarly priced.

The manager at the front desk tried to charge me a deposit for my service animal which is illegal. He said my "pet" wasn't allowed to sleep on the bed and gave me towels for the floor. I tried to get them to give me a refund and wouldn't and demanded I pay the deposit. He was screaming at me that I was a "stupid b-tch" that wouldn't get the deposit back because of my dog. Hotels.com helped by providing my account some $ so I could stay somewhere else.

Room was clean, proximity to Costco and other stores is very nice. It’s an older property, but the mini fridge, sink and microwave were nice to have. The manager and staff are very helpful and friendly. Would absolutely recommend for budget conscious travelers.

Read the reviews, thought this would be a decent place to stay for a week of work in Santa Monica area at different Ambulatory Surgery Centers than driving back and forth everyday from Ventura. This property is in a derelict area. Wooden floor thruout room was covered in dust from filthy ac vent filter, mold on bed sheets, layers of dust in corners. Mold around bathroom window. Plush towels, good water pressure and free parking were pluses. However, one work assignment got cancelled for Friday and I needed to check out 1 night earlier. Property collects all monies at check-in. I explained to the manager that I had an emergency and needed to check out 1 day earlier to go cover a different assignment for a nurse who had an emergency and he told me I had to get the refund from Expedia even though I paid him directly on arrival. Expedia contacted the property and was told they needed to submit a request in writing for a refund which they did. The property manager refused to refund one night even though I was still going to be staying 2 more nights for work. This property also does not offer housekeeping. I found out too late that I needed to tell the manager it was OK to come into my room to clean!! There is a kitchenette which was another reason I booked however the fridge was not cleaned, the microwave barely heated up food and the ac unit was extremely loud when in use. Since these are all ground floor rooms beware of opening the door as critters run in from outside.

Perfect Location close to Venice Beach. Housekeeping came every day, cleaned and changed towels. Reception was also very friendly and took care of our needs.

The Encore Hotel in Marina Del Rey offers an excellent location, which was the highlight of our visit. The bed was reasonably comfortable, but the overall experience fell short of expectations. The property could benefit from better upkeep and greater attention to detail, as the atmosphere felt somewhat neglected. While we initially chose the Encore for its price, even at the current rate we would likely explore other options in the area for future stays.

I took pictures as well to provide feedback. I figured that we got what we paid for since we were trying to go the cheap route. There was dust and dirt built up in a lot of places. It looked like the bare minimum was done. Staff that we encountered was friendly. The property is not in a good area it seems so we didn’t venture out at night like we may have.

The neighborhood is a little sketchy, but the motel is nice for the price, and there are a number of restaurants in the area. The motel, in terms of cleanliness and amenities, met my expectations.
