19th Hole Hotel, Carnoustie

Booked The 19th Hole whilst visiting friends in the area. Room was clean and most of the staff friendly. Has free parking to the rear of the hotel and is within walking distance to the promenade/seafront area of Carnoustie. On my night of arrival (friday) I noticed a guest being served steak pie at approx 8pm....enquired with a member of the bar staff could I order food and they advised no as the kitchen was now closed.....even though another member of staff had just that minute brought out steak pie for another guest in the hotel..... I ended up staying over an extra night and again booked my stay through Expedia and paid expedia on my debit card for the extra night as i get a discount with my blue light card. On check out I met "Linda" who advised me she had just returned from holiday. I advised I just wanted to check out. Linda advised they had not received payment for my extra nights stay....i advised i had booked with Expedia and that they would receive the payment from them in due course ....I even displayed my bank acc statement to them. A few days later Linda took an unauthorised payment from my debit card instead of chasing Expedia!..so i had then paid twice for the room! I ended up having to go to Expedia to explain what Linda had done. They apologised and refunded me my money. Terrible customer service from Linda and absolutely disgusting way to treat paying customers! I wont be back for that reason, avoid this hotel

We stayed in the apartment which was very clean, amazing balcony good parking and quiet. Although this is part of The 19th Hole Hotel, it is about half hour walk away from the town and hotel

Comfy bed, great shower and bath, Bathrobe, hairdryer attachments and affordable mini bar and toiletries supplied. Lovely pub with a games room lounge. In a central location. Staff helpful and friendly !

Stayed one night, check in we handled by the busy bar staff who showed us up to our room which was obviously newly renovated. Parking is first come first served in the rear so get in early. Had dinner in the restaurant and I can say that the choices were excellent and everything we ordered was delicious. Very friendly staff and was located on a quiet street. Only downside is that the room got quite warm and there is no fan or AC that we could use.

Easy check in , rooms clean and tidy , had a good meal in the bar area

It was ok. our ground floor room view of disused hall and by pavement.although not noisy. Did not eat there so cannot comment. Mini bar in room which we didn't use. Bathroom water hot and clean towels, although areas need TLC. Main issue was bed uncomfortable felt springs all night. Green light in bathroom ?emergency, also large ?emergency light in bedroom on all night so if you like sleeping in a dark room is an issue. Recommend change matress or get matress topper. Nice choice of teas and coffees supplied.

Ground floor annexe opposite the main building - no problem with that suited me fine, no stairs to carry my golf clubs up! Single room was more than adequate and the lady that checked me in was lovely.

Was taken across the road and into a converted house and the out the back garden where the room was a small extension with a door straight into the garden. Not great and won’t be back even if cheaper

Warm friendly reception. Clean and tidy room with comfortable bed and linens. Great pub with excellent food. The staff is full of wonderful warm Scottish people.

Excellent overnight stay at this affordable little gem in Carnoustie. Staff couldn’t be more accommodating. Great in room facilities with well stocked minibar. Fantastic breakfast, would recommend for anyone wanting an overnight stay in Carnoustie.

Room was very clean and tidy, food was excellent, staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly going so far as to go and buy some bathroom supplies

The room was lovely and clean. But the heating was a little inadequate but the stay was good. The bathroom extractor didn’t work which. But the power shower was fantastic. Overall, really good place to stay.

A clean, cozy, quiet room with comfortable beds and good shower. Very friendly and helpful staff. A perfect stay for us for two nights to be able to explore the coastline.

Rooms had a terrible smell and showers had significant amounts of mold.

Tried to call reception to get an iron first night and next morning and got no answer at reception. Had to leave with a very crushed shirt. Room smelled stale and there was a loud humming coming from under the stairs just outside the room.

Warm friendly reception. Clean and tidy room with comfortable bed and linens. Great pub with excellent food. The staff is full of wonderful warm Scottish people.

The room was in bad shape. The mattress was uncomfortable, the toilet didn't flush right, and the bathroom was dirty. I reached out to the hotel three times and even sent pictures, but the general manager totally ignored me and never got back to me like I asked.

Clean and tidy but the mattresses need a bit of an upgrade in my opinion as you could feel the springs.

We stayed at the hotel for one night for a rest stop while travelling home from a holiday. From arrival at the hotel, there wasn’t a receptionist present- there was a buzzer to ring but nobody came after 5 mins of ringing/waiting. My husband then went to search for a member of staff. When he eventually returned, we managed to check in but were informed that the kitchen was closed so we could not have dinner or breakfast- this was disappointing as we were all pretty hungry and was looking forward to meal and good nights sleep. The room itself was very nice. A good size, clean, and comfortable beds. Unfortunately it was very warm in the room- it did not have air conditioning as advertised, only a window that looked onto the beer garden/smoking area. After ordering a takeaway, we hoped for a peaceful sleep. Instead, we were kept awake well into the night with very loud music, shouting/screaming from the punters, and couldn’t open the window for any fresh air due to the large crowds outside. The music was similar to that of a nightclub- not what is expected of a bar/hotel. My children grew increasingly upset and after a while we did consider packing up and continuing our journey home so our children could at least rest in the car- but as we were both so tired, it did not seem like a safe option. Upon check out and another search for a member of staff- we were not asked anything about our stay. Overall, it’s good for those looking for a nightclub, but families should AVOID!!

A very uncomfy ‘springy’ bed. I did get an apology, so hope the matter is addressed. I hardly got any sleep because of it. Therefore I wouldn’t stay here again. A good hotel overall, pub meal pretty average, but that bed !!

Clean room luxury toiletries excellent balcony with great views. Food is amazing and staff very helpful. Lovely dining room and bar area.

Decor of the bedroom was very tasteful only issue I had was my back didn't agree with the bed, staff said that there was a plan in place to replace all the mattressesalready started

I had a reservation for this Hotel and on the day I checked in I discovered my mum was in Hospital. She passed away the following day and I let the staff know I was checking out early and they said if I emailed the hotel they would refund me. After I had recovered from my mum passing, I emailed the hotel. No response. a second attempt no response. I called Expedia and they established they did not want to refund me for the remaining 6 days of my stay. What a bunch of thieves. Do not use this Hotel. And to think I had told my relatives to use it when they came for the Funeral. Calling my Credit Card company now to get this joke of a theft corrected.

Disappointed that Expedia would be rating this hotel as they did . Never booked in , no reception … just a note to find someone in the bar … who was alone and couldn’t help . No more than a local drinking spot . Unacceptable . Noisy, smelly. Still await request for refund almost a week later.

Absolutely disgraceful experience at the 19th Hole Hotel. When we arrived, there was literally no one at reception. We had to go hunting around the building like idiots just to find someone to check us in. As if that wasn’t bad enough, after leaving I discovered they had stolen £52 from my bank account for “mini bar usage” that I NEVER touched. This is blatant theft. The lack of service, the incompetence, and the dishonesty are shocking. I will never set foot in this place again and I strongly warn everyone else to stay far, far away.

Lovely property in central location, comfortable bed, nice decor, hot powerful shower. tasty cooked breakfast and varied menu for lunch and dinner. Staff friendly, helpful and welcoming. Added bonus of being a short walk to a beautiful sandy beach and multiple options for playing golf.

Stayed here overnight for a golfing trip. Had a twin room and was perfect for golf trip. Had breakfast on site and it was very good and plentiful. The bar downstairs also has a restaurant. The staff from checkin, bar, breakfast and checkout were all very pleasant and efficient. This is a great inexpensive place to stay for golf trip.

Stopped there one night as part of long trip. Friendly staff, good dinner in restaurant, lots of choice and very good value breakfast the next morning. Our room was downstairs and bathroom is need of renovating but still ok. Many thanks.

Brilliant location for the golf courses. Very friendly staff and even though i was 20 minutes late for breakfast they still cooked me a full meal.
