I like the location - it has close proximity to the public transport system, and the breakfast is okay. However, I got bitten by bugs on my 2 nights - so please watch out.

When we arrived and given the key to our room we were shocked at the smell of the room. One curtain at a window on the street broken blinds.Fridge not on and was very smelly.Tv wasnt working. Kettle was dirty and mould in the bathroom. Floor dirty. We asked for another room which we were given. Better than the other but wardrobe coming away from the wall one curtain hiding broken blinds. Tiles broken in the bathroom. Mould all over the ceiling and round the windows dirty shower. But it was late and the bedding seemed clean until the following night when we found beetles in the bed. I didnt want to think about the fact there were bed bugs. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Didnt feel safe walking to the station as it was dark and young people taking drugs.

I didn’t stay at this hotel. The entrance of the hotel is very dated not as fresh as the pictures online give it. The room seemed ok. However, the bathroom was covered in mold spots from the damp. It was especially bad around the windows. I was given the option to choose another room. But that too had mold spots. They need to really address this as it is a public health matter.

Bad security on the room and entering the hotel. Cheap locks and bet not much attention on who comes through. Room had damaged furniture, the bathroom had mould, stank of damp, and the room was boiling hot. Also very noisy from other guests, proximity to the entrance, and from outside. Didn't even stay, preffered a 2 hour train home than stay there.

Dockside is a decent property with friendly employees. If you are looking for a place to stay that is within a stone's throw of the underground station, Shadwell is within a 2 minute walk. The neighborhood is decent and seems to be full of families and lots of working people. We were not concerned to be walking to and from the hotel in the mornings and evenings, but would wander late at night. It was noisy later in the evenings, we often heard cars racing up and down the street and sirens most nights. The room was plain, the bed was not the most comfortable, but it was clean and a place to crash. The bathroom was utilitarian, hot water was plentiful and the show was powerful. There is evidence of mildew on the ceiling of the bathroom and likely old water damage, but other than that it's clean. When we asked that the linens be refreshed and the room cleaned, everything was left spic and span. Breakfast was tasty and kept refreshed, with a selection of eggs, sausage, beans, cheeses, toast, pastries, meats, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals, coffee, tea, and juice. Nothing fancy, but you can get filled up. Yes, it was the same each day, but it was fresh and filling. Overall, Dockside Hotel is nothing fancy, you need to pay more for fancy and updated. It's a place to sleep and shower and is right near the Tube.

It was a very simple hotel, so we didn’t have big expectations. Our hotel room was very hot due to the weather and only one window. But we had a fan, so the nights were okay. The breakfast was typical English breakfast, which we’re not used to, but we found something as well. All the staff members we talked to were very friendly. The public transport is only two minutes away which was great. And it’s only twenty minutes to walk to the Tower of London (7 min via public transport). So the location of the hotel was perfect for us.

Broken tiles in the bathroom, broken toilet, very uncomfortable bed. The place felt unclean. This was the worst stay in our trip. Additionally, the receptionist was very rude. The only perk was that it was close to the tube station but I would never stay here again.

A place to book when everywhere else is full or ridiculously expensive. Functional low end hotel. Room was clean, water was hot, staff were helpful, breakfast was adequate. Pretty basic, small rooms. Not much going on in neighborhood.

What a lovely hotel with such welcoming and friendly staff! Excellent location being so close to the DLR and overground. Very quiet and well sound proofed inside. Had a great night’s sleep. The room had lovely interiors and thought out decor - bed comfy, nice pillows and a powerful shower. Breakfast was a nice addition and the filter coffee was sublime! Only area can think of improvement would be an additional towel in the room and some more vegan options at breakfast, although there was enough for me to enjoy! Thank you Dockside

Whilst Dockside Hotel is not the most salubrious, it is a functional, accessible hotel. Rooms were presentable, if a little shabby and in need or some redecoration. Rooms are not big. But if you just need a reasonably comfortable for the night (or two), this should suffice for most. [Booked for London Marathon weekend]

I’ve stay here multiple times and different rooms. The room I had this time really needs some love. Room it self is ok new blinds needed and lock on windows. The bathroom is really big but let down by how clean it is. Also broken floor tiles that could easy cut your feet. Hair dryer cord is damage didn’t use as looked unsafe. Shower screen hard to open was worried it would break. Toilet seat loose. Bed was fine nice and clean and slept well. No fan in this room. Tv has had better days. Stay here before other rooms was fine. Breakfast is fine for what it is. This is not a moan more don’t expect 5 stars for the price.

In a part of London that didnt ooze safety around. Appreciate its London but wish we had paid the extra £20 for a more reputable hotel. The 2 single beds were not comfortable. Didnt get any comfort from the hotel so left without even trying the breakfast.

We were visiting the area for a trade event, at Tobacco Dock, and the hotel was in a great location. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the venue was clean and comfortable. A great hotel and very good value, we will definitely be going back if we are staying in the are again.

When I checked in the staff was polite. The night staff member however was very rude. The room had cracks in the paint, holes in the walls, generally a unkept and and poor standard throughout. It has a dingy and dirty feeling throughout. A chemical like smell lingers around the place. Nothing more than a private room hostel.

Read the reviews and got instant regret booking it, until I went. All staff super friendly and helpful. Very clean everywhere and comfortable bed. Great location for what I needed and will be returning

Good thing is the location is good. Close to tube . 2 min walk. Front disk staff terrible! No customer service at all! They dont even look at u when they talk ! No greeting or welcoming at all ! Zero star! Bed is not comfy and missing the daily housekeeping service even u tell them to do so! staff u can tell that they dont wanna be there! I do not recommend this hotel! Other plenty choices in the area !

Not the greatest 3 star hotel. The room was basic. Bed was comfortable and clean. Upon returning to my room on Sunday after running a half marathon, a member of staff snapped at me about ringing the buzzer 3 times to open the door. I only rang it 3 times because I was unsure whether anyone was there to open it. That did not stop them giving me a lesson on doorbell etiquette. It was the last thing I needed after finishing a half marathon.

Reception was friendly, lady serving breakfast was really helpful and friendly too. Breakfast was nice with option of beans, egg and sausage available as part of the buffet style breakfast. The location was really good. I had a friend staying in a more expensive hotel near St Paul's Cathedral but needed somewhere cheaper. Shadwell station was just around the corner, I got on there and off at Bank tube station (tube took 3:minutes) and then had a brisk 10 minute walk to St Paul's Cathedral. For under £100 you will struggle to find better within such a short distance of central London. I loved it there and intend to return.

There is evidence of mildew on the ceiling of the bathroom and likely old water damage, but other than that it's clean. When we asked that the linens be refreshed and the room cleaned, everything was left spic and span. It was a very simple hotel, so we didn’t have big expectations. Our hotel room was very hot due to the weather and only one window. But we had a fan, so the nights were okay. The breakfast was typical English breakfast, which we’re not used to, but we found something as well. All the staff members we talked to were very friendly. The public transport is only two minutes away which was great. And it’s only twenty minutes to walk to the Tower of London (7 min via public transport). So the location of the hotel was perfect for us.

Reception was friendly, lady serving breakfast was really helpful and friendly too. Breakfast was nice with option of beans, egg and sausage available as part of the buffet style breakfast. The location was really good. I had a friend staying in a more expensive hotel near St Paul's Cathedral but needed somewhere cheaper. Shadwell station was just around the corner, I got on there and off at Bank tube station (tube took 3:minutes) and then had a brisk 10 minute walk to St Paul's Cathedral. For under £100 you will struggle to find better within such a short distance of central London. I loved it there and intend to return.

In a part of London that didnt ooze safety around. Appreciate its London but wish we had paid the extra £20 for a more reputable hotel. The 2 single beds were not comfortable. Didnt get any comfort from the hotel so left without even trying the breakfast.

Check in was good and easy, Standards of the room were not ideal. Room was grubby with staining/water marks on walls. Bathroom was dirty with mould and grim in the shower. Breakfast was dismal, very hot in the basement with food sweating and if poor standard. I have never been to a hotel that offers cherry bakewells for breakfast.

What a lovely hotel with such welcoming and friendly staff! Excellent location being so close to the DLR and overground. Very quiet and well sound proofed inside. Had a great night’s sleep. The room had lovely interiors and thought out decor - bed comfy, nice pillows and a powerful shower. Breakfast was a nice addition and the filter coffee was sublime! Only area can think of improvement would be an additional towel in the room and some more vegan options at breakfast, although there was enough for me to enjoy! Thank you Dockside

Basic room, breakfast should have been included when purchased through Expedia but was told it wasn't and had to pay for that separately. Room very hot, breakfast room even hotter, underwhelming selection, fruit flies aplenty. You get what you pay for, I will know better next time

Stayed two nights visiting London for a show, the hotel is a two minute walk from Shadwell DLR so very convenient. Breakfast was fine each morning, something for everyone.

Could have wished for some more healthy breakfast cereals/options but overall, a good start in the morning. Room was very basic and bed comfortable. But good value for money and I really appreciated the closeness to public transport and an easy ride to the more expensive Canary Wharf.

£88 for one night on a Saturday, which I’d say is pretty good value for London. Location: The hotel is in a pretty run-down area, basically next to a council estate, and it didn’t feel 100% safe at night. Also worth noting that some of the surrounding-area photos on Hotels.com appear to be AI-generated, so don’t expect it to look like the pictures. The DLR is only around a 5-minute walk away, which is great. However, there isn’t much locally. It took us around 15 minutes to find a pub, and most of the ones showing on the map had closed down. It was then around 25 minutes to walk to the start of Liverpool Street. Room: Spacious and reasonably clean, with hangers and a good fan. However, the pillows were awful. They felt like cheap foam that had broken down into little balls, and I woke up with a sore neck. The window didn’t shut properly, the bathroom door was jammed, there was no bin and the extra door lock was broken. The shower was the biggest problem. It kept getting stuck between temperatures and at one point I genuinely thought I was going to be boiled alive. I couldn’t properly turn it off or change the temperature. Service: Basic but fine. We paid on arrival and were given the key and access code. Overall, I don’t want to completely slate the hotel because £88 for a Saturday night in London is cheap, and some of the issues are more about the location than the hotel itself.
