Coco Beach Hotel

This hotel was okay as the room was clean enough, it had A/C and it was centrally located. The downsides are that it is a 5 minute walk to the beach and there is no pool at the hotel. (our plumbing in our room worked but the toilet did back up once and it definitely needs some work) For our family, we wish we had stayed at a hotel right on the beach that also had a pool. We did use the Coco Bay club one day (free access if you are staying at the hotel). It was a 20 minute walk away but was worth it to use the pool and play tennis/pickleball.

Although no pool on site we were able to use the fantastic pool at The Club Coco Bay about a 5 minute drive from Main Street

We made last minute reservations for a weekend so this served the purpose. The location was convenient, but it wouldn't be my first choice if I returned. There is access to pools at two other locations but we bought a day pass at a closer hotel that had a nice restaurant and pool. Hotel is a 2 block walk to the beach and located in the middle of the town with many restaurants and tourist shops. The room was quiet even though there was a lot going on very close by. One queen bed had only one pillow. We asked for a second but never received it. Breakfast was tasty but there was no menu, and with the language difference, we had to look at what others were eating to order our food. The room where breakfast is served felt a bit like a large storage room with an old couch and chair mixed with the tables and a sheet covering some furniture. Also in the breakfast room, the Christmas decorations were still up at the end of January but looked like they might have been there for years. Not sure if the bunny pictures with chinese writing were easter decorations or some type of logo for the casino. Front desk help and the gentleman cleaning rooms were very pleasant and helpful. Water pressure wasn't too strong and water was lukewarm for a shower. We were able to get one of the off street parking spots and the car was safe there. Only two bath towels were provided versus the usual four, but they did have terrycloth robes.

The place is like an average motel. Location is good, center of coco beach, but it gets noisy at night (people drinking in the street, yelling). The room was old, not a lot of lighting. AC worked great. For one night, it was ok. The posting mentioned parking, but when we asked for it, it was a few buildings away in the back of a property, looked like a ditch. We parked on the street instead. There is no elevator for luggage… There’s a casino downstairs. Didn’t try breakfast.

Amenities were not as advertised in the Expedia listing. No pool on site - it was a 20min walk away. Listing says "2 outdoor pools" - none. The club where guests can use the facilities has only 1 pool- swim up bar and restaurant were closed, no towels available there. Listing says "spa"?? Never saw anything resembling a spa. No "common area", never mind "coffee/tea in common area". No hot water - even after we complained it was never fixed. Towels smelled like moth balls. Lightbulbs burned out in the vanity; one of the outlets by the bed didn\'t work. The included breakast was some fruit and buns that had been microwaved. We went to leave for our early morning flight and found the gate locked and we could not get out - (what if there had been a fire?) Luckily a staff member woke up and came out. Noisy bars on the street. Their website says 4 stars - absolutely not a 4 star hotel.

Details state 2 pools and a poolside bar. There is no pool at this hotel. We stayed here as we thought it would be great for the kids to have a pool for 2 days at the end of our vacation. We overpaid as there was not one. Reception advised that there was a pool club we could drive 15 minutes to get to. No hot water for shower. Only 3 working plugs in the room including the ones needed for fridge and lamps. No overhead light so the lamps are needed. No spa facilities that I could see. No common area or coffee/tea available as stated. Also the 24 hour reception and security is not at all accurate. We had to leave the hotel at 4am on Jan 1st to head to the airport for our flight home. We told reception the day before that we would be leaving at that time. When we went down to leave the front gate was locked. We had no way out of the property. We were locked in. I started knocking on a few doors to find the staff but I was unsuccessful. There was someone passed out on the toilet in the women’s bathroom with pants down and lights out. This person was completely non-responsive but I did not have time to see if they were “ok”. My husband searched reception and found a bowl of about 50 keys as well as a pouch with room keys. He spent half hour trying to find the right key for the lock to get out and we was finally successful. We made it out on time but I’m sure glad this was not an emergency! Close to the beach and restaurants. So location is great. Breakfast was not bad.

They offer to have a pool and a Gym and when you arrive they tell you that’s 1.5km from the property. unbelievable !!

Facility is extremely dirty and there wasn’t hot water for shower. I want a refund on this booking.

Staff was nice. The room has a lot of spider webs especially in the bathroom. That’s an easy fix other than that it was simply ok.

The front door was very hard to lock and unlock. It seems as if someone has been trying to pri into the room. The lights in the bathroom would flicker off when you turn on the shower. There was a broken toilet to were you had to wiggle the knob to make it flush. Very poor place to stay

STAY AWAY , it is not what it used to be many years ago. Filthy, dirty. room falling apart in all areas. Toilet broken. Faucets.frig. you name it. Breakfast was old,Only had once.Pool area was sold . Said had pool offsite. Now rooms but up to back of building. Reception was a table.should not be on expedia.

Found used ear plugs in the sheets which tells me the sheets hadnt been changed after past customers used them. Music blared outside until 2 a.m. making it difficult to sleep. No hot water.

Room had dust all over the place and the shower floor had hair from a previous guest. It look like nobody had clean the room, they've just made the bed and place what I hope were clean towels so the room look clean.

Property online description did not match what it was really like. No pool on site. It is connected to a little casino that has people walking near your rooms throughout the evening. It is on a main street with loud music until very late in the evening. Would not recommend if you want to get a good nights sleep.

The room was dinghy and neglected. The shower barely worked, the TV did not work, the wifi did not work, the view from the front door was a rusted roof over a rough street scene. The staff was not friendly, helpful or really hardly present. This room might have been appropriately priced at $25 for the extreme low budget traveler who just needed a bed, toilet and a (sort of) shower… the topper, the room was a complete buzzkill for any romantic physicality my wife and I had in mind.

We liked the location a lot. It was a short walk to the beach and surrounded with shops and restaurants. The hotel staff were friendly. The room was basic and the bathroom was very small! There was no hot water.

Best beds in Costa Rica. Also a great location close to everything.

TV did not work, safe did not work, toilet did not always work, AC was very loud and did not always work properly.

The owner Perla was an excellent host and her staff. The location was convenient but noisy on the strip. The Club was fantastic.

The plumbing is deteriorating and the front desk said they would replace the shower head, while I was out for the day, and NO repairs happened.

Through the years we have come many times to this hotel, even back when it was called Coco Green. We loved the dining area around the pool. All that is now gone, there is only an oriental restaurant when before there was excellent restaurant. There are several problems with the room. In order to close the door it has to be slammed. The TV remote doesn't work. Bathroom very tiny. The hot and cold water knobs in the shower, would fall off as you try to turn them. You only get 1 towel per person. If you need a glass for some reason, forget it, there is none. if you call the front desk, you only get a recording. Oh, I forgot to say that we called using our cellphone, because the room had no telephone. The parking is horrible, it only fits about 3 cars, once you park you will need to slide down the gravel road, because it is soo steep that you can't walk down it. WHO PLANNED THIS!!!

It’s a great location if you want to be in the middle of the action. Staff is wonderful & friendly. It’s inexpensive & clean so no complaints.

Loved my stay at Coco Beach Resort, and the location couldn't have been better. So close to all the restaurants, shops, and the beach. Service was very friendly. I ended up staying for a week and my room wasn't cleaned once during that time or towels replaced, but I'm sure they would have had I asked. Was very clean when I moved in!

Had an issue with an online booking and staff not only would not help, they kept the money and said “so sorry”. Booked the two rooms we asked for right out from under us while we waited in the lobby with our luggage and then offered no suggestions for transportation or assistance in finding other accommodations. We loved our stay in Costa Rica and at this hotel was the only time we had a bad experience of any type.

We love Coco Beach. The hotel was ok the town was alive and vibrant definitely a vibe. I would definitely go back. Beach was ok to swim but was great for morning walks. The restaurants around were amazing great food and service.

The hotel is on the main street. It is one block from the beach. Many restaurants are within walking distance.

The location is awesome

Excelente lugar para hospedarse, pet friendly, desayuno incluido ⁵ estrellas aunque la muchacha nos dio mayonesa en vez de natilla pero todo bien, nos la cambiaron, ademas las habitaciones muy limpias y el precio increible!

At first we had to go across the street for breakfast, the last week it changes and was now on the property. The property kept very clean, it was convenient to get any thing you wanted around the area. It was a 5 minutes walk to the beach.

Just Aweful. The pics are deceiving. The pool is at a beach club and you have to drive there. The property is old and in poor shape, however, the new manager is friendly and tries to help. The breakfast is in an adjoining Chinese restaurant. It smelled so bad that I walked elsewhere and bought my breakfast. The rooms are close to the street and very loud.
