A cosy characterful pub with friendly staff. Our room was spacious with doors to outside balcony with seating. The food was good although Sunday evening limited menu.

We booked to stay as it was near to Wadhurst Castle where we were attending a wedding. The room was The Yew and Eye. Spotlessly clean and a lovely area out the front to sit and enjoy a drink. Very quirky but charming. The welcome at reception and talk through in the room was excellent. The young lady even took a few moments out of her very busy day to give us a brief history of the pub. The bar was busy but well staffed. Breakfast was ample , fresh and most welcome

The room was cleaned everyday with fresh cookies next to the tean and coffee maker. The pub has certainly retained its old charm. Food was excellent. For someone from london paying less for beer was a welcome change

We had issues with the room ( not up to standard for the price paid) ) but these were addressed and sorted out the receptionist Em was very professional and helpful. Food at the hotel was disappointing.. very expensive very small servings and rather tasteless. The pub itself is gorgeous with fires and cozy areas to sit and staff are lovely.

I couldn’t have loved this place more, great quirky rooms a real old pub feel with fantastic delicious food and great drink choices, a pleasant away from the woeful Madri and Carling most pubs now stock. The service was attentive, friendly and speedy. The place had a real nice village vibe with pleasant interesting locals. Only down side, the WiFi was none existent in my room.

Our room was Yew and Eye, one of the newly built cabins in the garden of this historic inn with a twist. The design is like nothing we’ve ever seen before with surprises every way you look. The room itself has human eyeballs as a decorative theme which was fascinating and amusing. The standard double bed was extremely comfortable, there was plenty of useful storage and good ventilation. A huge marvellous and stylish shower. Gardens, bars, reception and restaurants are all full of delights and the staff are so friendly! Great communication in advance. Would love to stay for longer and highly recommend.

This was our 2nd overnight stay and taster menu as we were very impressed last year. This time we stayed in one of the lodges (Pretty Vacant) and it was delightful! Walking into the lodge it felt cosy and comfortable as soon as we were in the door. Lovely and spacious, extremely clean with everything you could want, large double bed, big two seater sofa, walk in shower and bath and also a private little terrace with fire pit. We had booked to have the 5 course taster menu again this year and it was as exceptional as last year! All the lovely little quirky additions make it all the more special and the food was Beautifully cooked and was really superb! The staff were all friendly, pleasant, helpful and efficient! The only thing I would say that let it down a little was breakfast! Weak tea, ice cubes in the fresh orange (which watered it down) and streaky bacon in the full English! (Minor issues when our overall stay was brilliant) We’ll definitely be back again

The Bell Inn is a fabulous example of a quirky and eccentric coaching inn incomparable to any other. Fabulous attention to detail, beautiful luxurious rooms. We would have no hesitation in recommending. However be prepared if you stay in the main hotel rooms to either stay up in the bar until it closes or to listen to every word and every cheers from the comfort of your own room.

The bed was way too soft and the room was extremely noisy with the poor quality windows. The noise of the cars outside sounded as if they driving past the bottom of my bed. I had the worst nights sleep that I can remember because of this.

A super friendly welcome and a room upgrade would normally justify a 5* review, but unfortunately the pub failed to notify us that they were hosting a wedding party that evening. Loud music until 11.15 and then people singing/talking loudly until midnight. We were told that guests are usually informed when booking, but we must have slipped through the net because we made a late booking (2 days prior) and a new member of staff was on duty. I’d recommend checking before you book your stay.

Beautiful pub and rooms, all well decorated with the blend of old character with new modern (and especially for Christmas!). However, whether they were understaffed as many venues are at the moment, or we just got unlucky, the service wasn’t up to the standard we expected. We were all but forgotten during our dinner and after a 45 min wait for the main course, we had to prompt them. General service of checking on us for drinks etc. was also a little lacking. I would like to return, hoping that we just got unlucky!

Great pub with unique rooms. Very welcoming staff and included breakfast was excellent with cooked options. We also ate in the restaurant and again the food was great. Lovely walk down to Bewl water from pub as well. Really enjoyed our stay.

We booked to stay as it was near to Wadhurst Castle where we were attending a wedding. The room was The Yew and Eye. Spotlessly clean and a lovely area out the front to sit and enjoy a drink. Very quirky but charming. The welcome at reception and talk through in the room was excellent. The young lady even took a few moments out of her very busy day to give us a brief history of the pub. The bar was busy but well staffed. Breakfast was ample , fresh and most welcome

We had issues with the room ( not up to standard for the price paid) ) but these were addressed and sorted out the receptionist Em was very professional and helpful. Food at the hotel was disappointing.. very expensive very small servings and rather tasteless. The pub itself is gorgeous with fires and cozy areas to sit and staff are lovely.

This was our 2nd overnight stay and taster menu as we were very impressed last year. This time we stayed in one of the lodges (Pretty Vacant) and it was delightful! Walking into the lodge it felt cosy and comfortable as soon as we were in the door. Lovely and spacious, extremely clean with everything you could want, large double bed, big two seater sofa, walk in shower and bath and also a private little terrace with fire pit. We had booked to have the 5 course taster menu again this year and it was as exceptional as last year! All the lovely little quirky additions make it all the more special and the food was Beautifully cooked and was really superb! The staff were all friendly, pleasant, helpful and efficient! The only thing I would say that let it down a little was breakfast! Weak tea, ice cubes in the fresh orange (which watered it down) and streaky bacon in the full English! (Minor issues when our overall stay was brilliant) We’ll definitely be back again

Came here just for a night getaway and it was lovely! Room was tastefully decorated, breakfast was delicious. The pub itself is great in terms of vibes, although we did think it was too expensive cost for the value for both dishes.

Imagine if Salvador Dali created The Hobbit's Middle Earth... At the Bell you see the oldy-worldy exterior but as soon as you step into the bar you are greeted by a goose, a stack books beam support, a horse with a lamp shade on its head and top hat stringed lights...theres plenty more oddities on show at every turn. If you think this was a mad ad it can get them you're wrong... Step into the beer garden and you are stepping into a crazy middle earth... Several unique cabins, each with a different theme. One with a bird cage, another with a huge head. Again you may think the craziness ends here... Nope each interior of the cabins is stunning... We stared in Ewe and Eye... And almost everything in the room has eyes haha... Plus a stained glass window over the beds headboard which is lit from the bathrooms skylight... I don't want go into too much detail as it is a place you must experience and find your own novelties hidden within. The food was amazing, the room was wonderful and comfortable and we will definitely visit again... Next time we will possibly experience a different themed room.
