Casuarina Tree

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. The positives are 1. Staff were friendly, 2.Room bedding clean 3.Bathroom clean, 4. tea and coffee supplied, 5. iron and ironing board available 6. Complimentary breakfast included. Negatives are: 1.Entance hall shabby and tired looking, could do with a lick of paint and a new carpet 2. No air con, so room was very hot even though a fan was supplied. 3. Limited choice for complimentary breakfast but then it is complimentary. 3. Disappointed with restaurant food as it had great reviews but it didn't come up to scratch for us. Firstly we ordered poppadums as a starter, korma, tikka massala, mushroom rice and bombay potatoes as mains. Waited 45 poppadums to arrive and then mains were brought out while we were still eating starters. Bombay potatoes didnt arrive and we were told they hadn't been ordered but were then presented to us as complimentary after we had finished the meal. Only one plate and cutlery provided for starter and mains. Basically this is a pub that provides a limited indian menu, so dont expect a full asian experience. The rooms were cheap though and the staff were lovely but decor could do with some investment and updating. Fine for an overnight stop depending on your requirements. Its a case of, you get what you pay for.

Basic, but comfortable accommodation. Noisy location if in rooms front of the building as it's a busy main road, and part of a popular Indian restaurant and bar. However if the windows are kept closed, the sound is tolerable. A fan kept the heat down and much appreciated.

A genuine hidden gem in Mitcham I stayed here while attending a nearby wedding, and it proved to be an excellent choice. It was the closest accommodation to the venue and around 30% cheaper than the familiar budget hotel chains. The room was clean, tidy and comfortable, with a very good shower, making it ideal for an overnight stop. The tram stop is only about 150 metres away, so getting around is straightforward. The visit to the bar and restaurant was completely unplanned, but I am very glad i went. The seafood soup and sweet and sour chicken were both superb, and a pint of Madri was a very reasonable £5.70, especially for London. There is no lift, but the walk upstairs helped burn off a few of the calories from dinner! Would I stay again? Definitely. Clean, convenient, great value, friendly and with surprisingly good food. The Casuarina Tree is a genuine hidden gem.

Lovely hotel with really helpful, friendly staff. It’s our second time staying here. We ate in the attached restaurant and the food was amazing and prices very reasonable. Would recommend
