Genau das, was man von einem alten Englischen Pub erwarten kann. Ein paar Verbesserungen und Updates wären schön. Die altmodische Einrichtung und den Zustand des Bades haben wir als shabby chic ;) betrachtet; damit war es nicht nur akzeptabel sondern hat, wie auch der Gastraum eine gewisse Romantik versprüht. Der Wirt war super nett, zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit (z. B. bei der Planung unserer Ausflüge). Das individuell zubereitete Frühstück war lecker und hat perfekt zum urigen Ambiente des Pubs gepasst.

We stayed in the family room which was surprisingly spacious with proper beds for all. However, this room happens to be at the front of the property, which itself sits on the corner of a busy main road. Unfortunately the headlights and noise from traffic throughout the night made for a very difficult nights sleep.

Shower/Bathroom had mould, toilet seat was old and wooden. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast - Sausage was good quality. Cereal was stale. Crockery was greasy and glassware was cloudy. Overall everything could do with a good clean. Good parking. Owner and staff were lovely.

The staff were very accommodating and hospitable. We were late arriving, rang to let them know an ETA (9.30pm) and enquired if they were still serving food, they informed us that they had stopped serving food around 8 pm, but that they would cook for us on arrival, which was ideal (particularly for a family of 4, all hungry and tired)! The food and beer were good. Couldn't fault it. The pub and accommodation are very characterful. Parts of the building are over 500 years old. It may not be for everyone, but for our one-night stay, it was ideal. The room was quite cold (this was late December, after all), but the heaters in the room(s) soon warmed us up. We all enjoyed a hearty cooked breakfast in the morning, with good tea and coffee. Again, the staff were very attentive and gave us lots of options. The only negative was a broken blind in the bathroom, which was situated next to the car park...it didn't feel fully private! All in all, a pleasant experience and stay.
