Château Rhianfa

Character property with unique architectural features. Lovely lounges for relaxing and pleasant views over the Menai Straits. Excellent chef but limited menu choices for an extended stay. Big difference between basic room and deluxe, aim high, definitely worth it.

I had booked double room on suite in the chateau. When I arrived I was given a room in the lodge & the bathroom was down the hall just for us . No where when I booked with hotels .com did it mention this . The chateau said it did but I checked my info & it didn’t . I was disappointed, as I paid to stay in the chateau ! The parking was limited near front entrance & was only told when we checked in that parking was available near the lodge . It would have been helpful if an email had been sent explaining this .

breakfast was supposed to be hot but was cold , you need a plate warmer. Staff ok. Room clean , bathroom ok , ironing board and iron on show and only i tea bag pp and 9 little milks . Dinner very poor and expensive for what we had. The bar inadequate,larger beer pump not working , warm bottled beer. Main restaurant corridor had mice running up and down, evidence is on our cameras. A beautiful place, with stunning grounds and views. All the staff were delightfully friendly, helpful and attentive. Our room was immaculate, and the bed exceptionally comfortable. The only drawback to staying in Rhianfa Lodge was the steepness of the slope up from the car park and of the steps down to the gardens and main hotel, especially in the rain - but then, we are not as agile as we once were! We liked the quirky music room, and the cosy bar with its array of Welsh beers and spirits. Breakfasts offered just about anything you could want to set you up for the day, and the delicate dinner dishes (beautifully and carefully presented) in Le Dragon Rouge offered a local produce based fine dining experience beyond anything I'd tasted before - especially the seared dogfish starter. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and hope to return before too long. Thank you!

This is a gorgeous chateau & the garden is lovely- can imagine it would look amazing in the summer. Staff are very attentive

Loved the property and the great views of the Straights and the mountains ,the only thing we were unhappy about was the very uneven ground for parking ,and also the problems with the lift ,as some one who has walking difficulty ,stairs and uneven ground is a big no no, if it wasn't for the really helpful staff we would have gone elsewhere, so unless you have the Genes of a mountain goat you should avoid the place

Fab place to stay. It may seem a little dated inside, a few bits of flaking paint etc but this only adds to the overall feel. It really is a stunning place with lots of sitting rooms and nooks and crannies to explore. Breakfast was great and the location is perfect for exploring both the Island and the mainland being only 3 mins from the Menai bridge. Last, but not least the staff were absolutely brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble, and they encouraged us to explore the Chateau itself, and the gardens. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Our room had such a lovely view and parking was good. One slight niggle was the noise of the plumbing from other rooms in this building. Also the gardens looked a little neglected. Such a shame because they could be beautiful.

Parking and entering the chateau was impressive, checking in smooth polite staff member greeted us, took the time to show us to the lift, with our luggage and they walk up the stairs were they opened the lift doors and our room for the evening Örme 3 was there, magical, the room was beautiful, well equipped, everything we could ask for and more, it was our 20th Wedding Anniversary and to spend it in a magical place was simply perfect, and to see princesses Bell and the children topped that, gardens were beautiful which our room looked over towards the sea, the food was lovely a little expensive but other than that our stay was fantastic, thank you to all the staff that added to the magic of the Chateau Jackie Ian 29 May 2023

Beautiful position. The room needed decoration as paint was peeling off the bedroom and bathroom walls. The bathroom fan did not work and, despite requesting that this be looked into, it was not fixed. It should be pointed out that the accommodation is not suitable for anyone with mobility problems as there are lots of stairs to negotiate and the garden paths are rough and steep.

Terrific chateau, brilliant views incredibly quiet, booked for 2 days but had to come home after one night, i expected to be blown away by the suite we booked but were disappointed it seemed worn and drab, but had magnificent views, very clean though, prices were very over the top for drinks etc, the breakfast was a buffet and looked very nice but it was cold so how can you enjoy it, we've stayed in a lot 4 to 5 stars hotels in wales and i expected this to be better but it wasn't, saying that the building and interior are very very magnificent

Filthy top of wardrobe and bed head. only 4 coat hangers no where to put clothes drawers too small. No where to put toiletries in shabby bathroom. Asked for bacon and tomatoes for breakfast as can’t eat eggs got given 1 piece of toast 2 little pieces of bacon and half a tomato.lovely staff but place needs talc. Cup makes on furniture but asked for mats didn’t have any,NOT WORTH £200 a night

So we had an excellent stay and enjoy our trip in general great service from the staff and great detail only couple of things I would recommend is the extraction fan in bathroom of our room was full of dust and when asked to make room up every day the lamps was not dusted and had dust on them when we arrived others a great place to stay and would definitely return

The chateau is absolutely stunning and unique. Very picturesque, especially by the sea front. The welcoming was incredibly friendly and all staff were helpful. We opted for the best suite, so a little bit more on the pricey side for a nights stay. First impressions, the chateau had plenty of character and in keeping for the era it was built. The room was massive, bathtub in bedroom by the window (beautiful sea views), and a huge walk in shower which was really nice. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the room was questionable - bath wasn’t cleaned properly, coffee machine not emptied, dirty face towel in the shower. Not a deal breaker but alongside this, the room was just pretty worn (we stoped in the duke suite). Cracked tiles, cracked window pane, wallpaper peeling, lots of wear marks on the wooden furniture… it all just needed a bit of tlc and a tidy up both deep clean and also restoration. Not that we used the tv but it’s tiny vs the bed. We still loved the place and only gave feedback upon departing but it was more an fyi for some quick wins. I saw reviews about the garden saying it’s a bit tired and I can appreciate that, again some tlc needed as it’s all going a bit wild but still beautiful nonetheless. Incredible seafront views. We didn’t have an evening meal here so can’t comment but the bar was good. Breakfast next morning was average at best - small selection of buffet food and sadly pretty tasteless. Overall, we had a great stay and a really good time.

Mouldy bathroom and shower tray needed replacing. Poor quality Furniture in the bedroom. Did not justify the price for the room

Room 15 was next to the kitchen hence noisy late at night and early morning. Also the windows did not shut and hence had little privacy from kitchen staff. Our room was changed once reported and this room had an amazing shower but a very small window. The staff were friendly and the grounds were lovely and well kept. We were not impressed by the breakfast and hence cancelled our evening meal. Overall for the price I don’t feel I could recommend it.

Delicious food at dinner, ok service, room was a bit tired but a gorgeous shower in the turret (no hand held shower which is annoying nor hocks for the towel close to the shower), the food at breakfast was less than average with overwhelmed / disorganised staff who didn’t offer a good level of service.

Overal the stay was pleasant. The food was served on cold plates, therefore food was cool. Grounds a little untidy. Lodge decor was tired. Staff pleasant and helpful.

Noisy in the lodge..plumbing noisy as well as thin walls. Mixer tap in bathroom struggked yo get vold water. Towel rail hot ..no signage how to turn down or off...but room spacious...

Wi-Fi in our room was nonexistent. Would not stay connected.

Viewn from our room over the Menu Stairs was lovely. Room and bed were smaller than expected. We had expected a shower but it was just a hand held over a lovely bath. Meals were OK but nothing special.

The hotel lights were designed for atmosphere so still quite dark. Making applying make-up etc tricky. No moisturiser in the room and the soap was very drying so I would suggest taking some with you.

The Chateau's Lodge was a little disappointing and quite ordinary compared to the main chateau. It was clean and comfortable, very close to the town and located in a beautiful part of the world. Our view across the strait separating Anglesey from the mainland was quite nice. The staff were very pleasant and welcoming.

What an amazing hotel, fantastic staff and a wonderful almost enchanting location. I felt like king of the castle staying here not only by the surroundings but by the attentive staff!

We stayed one night there, staff were very nice and helpful and we had a superb dinner at the hotel. Our room was on the lower ground floor and reception was two floors above so I would not recommend this place for anyone with mobility issues plus we kept hearing doors banging until past midnight (there was a staff excess door leading to the garden and anyone goes in or out they just slammed the door on their way). The room was simply perfect and bathroom was very clean, big and bright and bed really comfortable. I would say breakfast operation was very chaotic, it really needed a better supervision and possibly more staff as the ones working there were under a lot of stress trying to manage the whole operation. Please do not be offended by my comments as they are meant as constrictive feedback and should not be taken in any other way.

The beginning was not as expected with nobody on reception as they were serving behind the bar, we had to go and find that individual to get checked in. Also the reception was full of smoke from the fire and was quite choking to the point that the receptionist had to fully open the doors to take the smoke out but we were in the middle of a storm with wind and rain.

We loved our stay and highly recommend visiting. The staff was lovely.

Brilliant experience, fantastic location. Food offering variable, staff very good but maybe stretched.

We arrive a bit early, 1415 hours to be exact. When we went into the front desk area we were told that we were a bit early for check in. I didn’t mind that as I knew. We were early, but I did not feel welcomed. That being said, every other staff member we spoke to was friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed speaking to the staff during breakfast and supper. I thought I had booked a room into the main Chateau however I was given a room in the lodge. I probably made the error when I booked the room. Our room had a great view. The bed was a bit too soft for me but the room was fine otherwise. Overall we enjoyed our stay, and again the staff made for a pleasant stay.

Staff was very nice but service was not up to par. Staff needs more training about how to do things. For instance, I ordered a martini and got it after the meal was served. Little things like that the 3 days we were there. Young and not professional but very nice.

In celebrating our diamond wedding anniversary the staff were really kind and considerate and made special efforts to make this time special. The public rooms were special and of high quality, really peaceful location with good views across the Straits towards Snowdonia and the peaks.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Nice room with a huge shower! Great location for visiting our son at the Uni and exploring the wonderful countryside. Will be back soon.

Meals a bit pricey at hotel drinks are the same

Great venue. Château and grounds amazing. Ate at the restaurant which was a set 3 corse menu. Everything tasted amazing. Stayed in lodge which had panoramic views of the menai strait and snowdonia. Very special place.

The hotel is a really quirky building in an amazing location. The staff are friendly and hard working but the breakfast is very poor. No cheese whatsoever the first day and no toast or bread of any kind. Slices of supermarket cheese added the next day but with no bread, hardly counts as continental. The hot breakfast was cooked to order but was lacking in flavour. Cant speak for the dinner as the menu was not inspiring and the breakfast experience put us off. The shower could have done with a deep clean but otherwise no complaints.
